Job Description:

This mission was starting to get to be too much! Those cheeky little monsters just wouldn’t stop moving, no matter how long it was since they took a break…which was never! Zadi was having a hard time hitting even on of his two monsters, the other two being in the hands of Yaku, his teammate for this mission. I remember how it ALL started out…it was a nice day out. There had been a couple of stupid students from the Magnostadt Academy doing stupid things here and there and finally, they unleashed a storm of monsters into the large city of Magnostadt. It was utter chaos!

However, Zadi and Yaku had taken advantage of this opportunity to ‘help out’ and make some money in return…like a mission! Well, it was more so Yaku’s idea rather than Zadi…if Zadi could remember correctly. He didn’t have the sharpest of memories. He just remembered that one of the two thought it would be a good idea to take this chance and make the chaos a job with a reward. They were accepted in no time due to the commotion…the hard part was finding the little monsters they were assigned to find. Now Zadi’s memory was fuzzy due to all the running, but one of the two magicians, Yaku and Zadi, decided it would be best to split up to find two monsters each and take them out! Who’s idea we may never know~

When the creatures had been set loose, Yaku was busy investigating a reported magoi leak on one of the magic tools that powered the city sewage system. It was a dirty job, but someone had to do it...thankfully an urgent matter arose which allowed the manipulative Imuchakk to shirk the duty off onto another magician. It was simply a matter of looking around for whatever magician looked to most worried following the explosion which marked the start of the escaped mutant's hijinx. When Yaku spotted a particularly small and concerned mage he stated that he had to go check out the cause of the explosion. How could the poor little mage refuse the giant blue haired Imuchakk?

With the sewage job passed on to someone else, Yakuroro hurried his way to the direction of all the ruckus only to run into one of the professors who were leading efforts to contain all the escaped mutant beasts. A friend of Yaku's, Zadi, was passing by only to be grabbed by Yakuroro by the collar to be volunteered for the capture party. As both Yaku and Zadi were young magician's without much of a name for themselves yet, they were tasked with hunting down a small pack of mutants that were more rejects than bio-weapons. They weren't extremely dangerous but were causing a ton of trouble nevertheless. With the job accepted Yakuroro then put on a smiling face and suggested to Zadi that they split up. His "friend" seemed to agree with the idea and went off on his own to search for the four escaped mutants.

While Zadi searched, Yakuroro stalked. Instead of splitting up like he suggested, Yakuroro kept a distance from Zadi and followed him carefully. It wasn't easy for a target as big as Yakuroro to be stealthy, but he kept at least 20m away at all times to help ensure he wasn't spotted. The one Yaku was hiding from was not Zadi, but rather any of the mutants that might be in the area. The poor black magician was simply being used as bait to draw and lure out all four mutants. Unfortunately, only two of them had shown themselves to Zadi and the other pair remained out of sight. Yakuroro stroked his chin thoughtfully as he tried to consider where the remaining two targets were. As he pondered the possibilities a foul smell and a strange noise behind him would cause the Imuchakk to turn and look down the alley he was hiding in.

At the other end of the Alley were two horribly disfigured four legged creatures which could have been wild dogs at one point. The creatures glared at Yakuroro and let out gutteral growls as their bodies poised to attack. "Uwaa!~" Yaku let out a surprised scream before stumbling back out of the alley a few steps as one of the mutants lunged for him with its vile fangs. The blue magician rose his Borg just in time to block the attack but Yaku knew it wouldn't stand a second blow. He reared back a fist with his left hand as his borg faded and punched the still air born mutt right in the face dealing B-tier damage thanks to his Imuchakk strength. The mutant hound's skull would shatter from the blow and its body would fly back a few meters before falling against the floor limply. One foe was down and things were looking good, however Yaku's defense and counter attack left him open for the second mutant's attack. Unnatural claws cut through Yaku's flesh deep enough to draw blood as the mutant stuck Yakuroro whilst passing him. The beast moved out into the street at a 5m/s sprint before turning around to face the Imuchakk again. The hound was baring its teeth and seemed eager to avenge it's fallen pack mate. The injuries were negligible and Yaku was still in the fight. He just hoped that Zadi wasn't being overwhelmed by his own opponents.

Well, turns out that it was Yaku’s idea. Zadi was resting a little, just sneaking around, staff at hand. The monsters that Zadi was hunting are being really annoying by the way. They were trying to make fun of how stupid Zadi was, but in fact, it was Zadi that was letting himself be stupid. He was waiting for the perfect moment to get both at the same time. If only one would get defeated, then the other would run some more, making more trouble for Zadi in the long run. So, Zadi really did have a plan to get rid of the two monsters he was charged with at the same time! Smart right? Well, it would still take a very long time for Zadi to get either of the monsters. Now then, Zadi was sneaking along, looking at every corner of his two eyes. The monsters were toying with Zadi before they would attack, but Zadi was waiting JUST for that moment to strike.

Yaku on the other hand was having a tough time with his monsters. They seemed slightly stronger than the monsters that Zadi was tasked to take care of. However, without knowing it, Zadi was being followed by four monsters rather than two. Even more so however, Yaku was also following, and Zadi also didn’t know about that! All the same though, Zadi needed to stay focused on his ‘two’ monsters. In this case, there were others to take care of. Fortunately, the monsters Zadi was hunting were slightly less smart and strong than the ones that Yaku was hunting, so Zadi would probably have an easier time at it. Back to Zadi, he was still sneaking around, being surrounded by clinks and clangs as the monsters were tormenting Zadi’s every step. Upon observation, the monsters were switching places at some point in time in order to vary noises, thinking that it would cause more trouble to pinpoint a single monster. Zadi could tell though…he could hear the little footsteps circling him, shadows moving in the distance between alleyways. Zadi would wait until both monsters ended up in the front of himself, crossing paths without knowing they fell for a reverse trap…

Yaku had already taken care of one of his two monsters, though it was unintentional of him to begin with, hahaha! The other one, the one that witnessed a pack mate die by Yaku’s fist, stayed behind to no longer torment Zadi, but rather take care of Yaku himself. Yaku could handle such things in the end, even though they both caught him off guard. Zadi was having an easier time due to the length at which he was being toyed with. If the two monsters just came out and fought with Zadi, things might end up being easier for the two monsters that Zadi was tasked to hunt. They were making noise all around Zadi, leaving his vision of sight empty at all times other than when crossing sides when switching places. This was going to take time to get into sync, but it would eventually work in favor of the young Black Magician Zadi Medmar. However, things weren’t fairing so well for the Imuchakk Yakuroro who’s opponents had injured him without mercy or remorse, one of which paid the price while the other has yet to be punished for its wild nature!

A slowly growing patch of blood could be seen around the torn robes where Yakuroro's leg had been slashed by his mutant quarry's claws. Yaku's right hand passed his staff into his left before moving down to put pressure on the cut to stop the bleeding. With the carved unicorn horn in his left hand, the blue magician held firm in preparation for an attack that was sure to come. The Imuchakk was no stranger to fighting wild beasts and he recognized the instinctual gaze of a wolf behind his prey. Perhaps that is where the dog-like appearance of the mutant came from? Regardless, the eyes told him much about the beast that he was fighting. The creature was cunning and intelligent enough to sneak up on Yakuroro when he was the one trying to be sneaky; yet it was not a being of malice or evil. It was simply the results of a failed experiment, desperately trying to answer its survival instincts. Kill or be killed.

Sadness loomed over Yaku's heart as he realized he would rather have helped these poor animals rather than snuff them out like this...but the Imuchakk had reason to earn the trust of Magnostadt's professors. With that resolve tempering the mage, Yakuroro's eyes reflected a similar instinct driven mindset as his face smiled softly. The best thing he could do was meet this proud reject in battle and put the mutt out of its misery. Yakuroro tossed his staff to the ground and knelt down as he held his arms wide open leaving himself completely defenseless. The mutant's body tensed like a spring before pouncing into a full speed attack. The hound landed on Yaku's chest and sank its teeth into his neck violently. Before the canine could use its horrible jaws to tear out Yaku's throat, a large pair of Imuchakk arms wrapped around its body and squeezed with all their might. The bones of the wolf would crunch and organs would squish as the beast was crushed against the Imuchakk's chest. The mutant let go of its bite to yelp in pain briefly before falling lifeless in the northerner's arms.

Yaku placed the beast's corpse next to its kin's dead body and held a hand to his neck to stop the bleeding before limping his way over to Zadi to see how his end of the mission was going.

Zadi was noticing a pattern between the two monsters he had to take down. One was always in the back while another was always in the front. They wouldn’t cross paths anytime soon…so Zadi decided to just finish things were they stood! Each monster was 5 meters away from Zadi, so all he had to do was time things correctly. Alright…NOW! The monsters were switching sides! Zadi unleashed his twist spell on the one to his right while, at the same time, unleashed his Push spell on the one to his left. Zadi both tapped the ground while pushing the head of his Gawking Heron staff forward un order to unleash the two spells at the two monsters. Luckily, the two monsters were both beaten and battered in and instant! Zadi had aimed the two attacks slightly in front of each of the fast little monsters in so that both the attack and the monster would collide with each other. It was pretty smart if I do say so myself. Yaku had already finished off his monsters, so the job was complete! It was tougher than anticipated…that was for sure. But, in the end, a job was a job, so the two magicians got their rewards and went back to their respective tasks before all this happened.
