The Salmon Chieftain: Cucupun FILE

From the north, the wind came harsher than usual. Hitting the back of the camp, along with any stragglers. The frozen coast was shielded with sharp icy crags and battered icebergs. A border to protect the path to inner Immuchak. It had kept many invaders away, but unicorns knew the way into the bay. Something much bigger, much hungrier than knew that is where they went to retreat during mating season. The first sign of the threat to come was how late the sea beasts were this season. Real fear came when they heard of the migrations that began to move.

Even now, as people sat at barely warm fires, as the Sabertooths set up watch points rumors traveled amongst the people. Some of the raiders had claimed that first a man showed upon a watery grave. A corpse had risen, driving forth living unicorns in fear and dead one's in his command. They had said that he had only been halted visiting the shores of the souther isles of Immuchak. There, myth had became truth. Fear had taken true form as something black burst forth from the depths. It's name quivered on the lips of many. A creature thought to be long dead, a Leviathan.

It had spurred so much concern, that Asisak had come herself. In the camp furthest north she waited, her household had been brought with her. The man was new to his role but he had proved dedicated to the lands he lived. There were volunteers, some strong folks who had wished to provide aid or maybe even find glory. Her only fear was this was not a fight they could bring to land. Only so many could conquer the waters as well as they could. She knew, from stories if the whispers of this being the man Cucupun was true, than they would have no choice but to beat him at sea.

It was her job to take action, to take the shot if needed but, there were many young eager faces. It was her job, but with such a large rumored force they couldn't take precautions. Nothing on this day seemed in their favor, not counting the winds but the sea was raging. It's frigid waters bit at any who got too close. All the creatures of the sea seemed to be in frenzy. Only shadows seemed to take shape in their vision. They had followed reports from scouting birds and seals, their invaders were likely to hit shore soon. They had to be vigilant, but there was no sign or warning of what could come. For now, they could only take position.

It had been three days, in preperation for this day. Still, the hours dragged, the sun would be in the middle of the sky if not for a thick veil of dark clouds. They shifted, snarling flashes of storming beasts among the sky heralding the storm. It was a rare occurence in Immuchak, it wasn't snow that would fall. Frozen shards of rain would slice through the air. The rain was called forth just to bless this day, for it would be a historic meeting between giants.

Of all places, a job is in one of the coldest areas in the world.

*Ahchoo!!!*

Sabin was bundled up, even though he wore the breastplate of the passionate immortal and was using the residual heat to keep himself warm. At this point in time, Sabin found himself in the north. The Imuchakk village was welcoming, even if the only reason was that he was a bounty hunter that took the bounty on the leviathan. Sabin did a lot of unpaid jobs for fame, so this time a little bit of money to send back to Octavia and some for himself.

"They also said that it could be something of legends, the leviathan's remains combing back to life to haunt the seas of the north. I wonder just how much of that information is true?"

Sabin was looking forward to finding out about this new adventure, even though Nar Samum, the inhabitant of the breastplate he claimed, was giving him the silent treatment. There was an argument earlier about Sabin being too overconfident in his abilities, so Nar Samum said that he was just going to observe how Sabin handled this time without any backseat guidance.

"Pfft, fine, don't talk then! See if I care!"

Sabin started to check over his tools in order to see if he had enough to get through whatever ordeal he was up against.

His furs crisp with snow and ice, the huntsman forded the frozen streams, passed through boreal forests and crested the tops of hills and mountains.
Unnerving times were ahead, the animals had become unusually lacking, seemingly haven withdrawn to other areas for the most part and the aggression of those that remained seemed to have become heightened as they often seemed to be acting as if they’d become trapped or penned in.

His animal companions had stayed within so far but he could see even within them that something most certainly was wrong. Their nervousness, their bond to changes in the natural environment was far more acute than his own and even he felt a shiver on his spine, similar to the shiver he felt in the presence of Asisiak.

However, he was not in her presence but rather he felt this shiver as if it was a chill on the wind.

The duties of a Sabertooth Warrior brought no respite, though the huntsman had found himself feeling far more youthful in recent times. It would most certainly have broken him, if his body hadn’t seemed to begin to recover from the years of toil and brutality on the plains of ice.

These times were trying and almost mystical and while the lack of the Unicorns migration mattered little to the Huntsman’s general hunting pattern. It was not something that had no effect, from the increased hunting of the land by the Imuchakk, by the limited carcasses that washed up on the shore for the wild beasts to feed on.
The effects were vast and various.

His reliance on the Vessel of a Whispering Storm was still minimal but its influence had granted him a handful of powers that seemed to drain the very essence of his body when he drew upon them through the item's influence.

The Huntsman’s duties took him roaming the shores and the areas nearby as he searched for signs similar to what had already been reported. As he trudged through snow and across ice as he tried to gather the information that would be worthy to report back to his High Chief.

The huntsman's return was one of non-fanfair rather discrete and quiet as he visited his High Chief in the night to relay the information that he’d gathered in his ice-battered attire, cracked icicles hanging from the hems of his dense hides and equipment.

The tales of the elders for sure rang in his ears, often their stories held parts of the truth woven between exclamations, exaggerations and outright falsities. However, if you could pick out the truth and break down the extremities then you would most certainly learn something important.

The High Chief was also an individual of great knowledge and great experience of the sea and her own council, when he shared his own with her was something that Vodarara always took great head of. Partly out of his sheer veneration of her but also partly out of fear of her wrath.

He could only hope that she and the other Saber’s had gathered sufficient information to outline their next plan of action in safely passing this coming crisis.

….

The Huntsman had kept much of his equipment in the camp, traveling with only his necessities to minimize the weight he was carrying and to improve his ability to traverse the environment, safely and efficiently given the occasion.

What would be the next trials ahead of the huntsman, the next mission his high chief would set upon him.

Sara had heeded the calls for support, a land she had once helped was asking for help, and fear could be felt in the air. The rumors and whispers of a return to dark times, the word spreading was the revival of a terrifying beast and undead army. The cold wind swept across the vast lands as this nation was quite cold but this was no issue for Sara she had quite a sturdy body as each step she took would cause the ground to shake. Her large visage could be seen approaching in the almost fog-filled air. The cold wind swept past her pushing her scent onto the others.

She would make her way toward Sabin as she neared the ground would shake harder and harder, she was a mammoth of a woman standing nearly eighteen feet tall with a massive mace in her hand. She would stop close by and simply smile down at the man. She had a ragged-looking cloak on but the rest of her attire appeared to be lots of animal furs crudely stitched together. It was clear she made this for cold weather and it appeared to be comfortable enough for her it also appeared she was an ally despite the terrifying aura she had.

"I see you appear to be here to stop this threat as well, I hope we can work together and protect this nation. Any nation not controlled by filthy human hands must be protected at all costs, the only thing humans do is destroy."

The Salmon Chieftain: Cucupun Salmon_King_1

The waters close to the edge of the shores began to move. Even icebergs would seem to stand pale in the shadow of what lurked, what caused the waves to lap towards them. Asisiak may not have been out to great them just yet, but their opponent was coming forth to properly say hello. From the waters he rised, seemingly walking on the sea as his beast below carried him. His household was active, the black armor turning the giant immuchak into some fish monstrosity. It was the cursed shape of the dark vessel's magic.

"I'll give you but a moment to stand down, to allow me to reclaim my throne so Immuchak may once again be glorious, so it can be better than it ever was." His voice roared, gruff, and filled with distorted malice. "If you give up now, I'll only make those who have stood here today to oppose me die a slightly painful death."

A smirk seemed to appear on his face, they could try and snipe him but it was unlikely a ranged attack would hit him that well from head one, he could sink quick enough. It was likely they were unaware of how durable he was, so it depended if they wanted to risk being exposed. If none would tread towards him, then Cucupun himself would bring the sea onto them.

Grabbing but one of his harpoons, he would show them how strong he really was. With a mighty heft, he would show them Ship's Bane. Impacting an iceberg with all his might it would shatter most f it, sending what was left flying through the water, crashing into the shore. "So what shall it be minnows? Shall we do this the easy way or hard way, I'd hate to show you what else lurks in these waters!" With his last words they would see something darker, larger. A teeming mass of many bodies, something was coming for the shore fast, to crash against the ice and start breaking the coastline. So very little of what they were standing on was actually land.

It was unsure how much of his yells they could here, but they were just as much a fair warning as they were a threat.

DM Notes: Cucupun has destroyed a glacier to intimidate, something is in the water that he is riding, and more beasts seem to swim behind.

The waters shifted outside their normal pattern, lapping forwards as if the water itself was being driven into flight by a predators gaze.
Far at sea, even hard to see for the huntsman extremely keen eyes was what appeared to be a giant of sorts, glad in the black sheathe of armour that was seemingly being carried across the surface of the water by whatever lurked below the water-line, mitigating the huntsman ability to keenly see the creature beyond an expansive shadow beneath the waters surface.

It was at this time as a voice bellowed through the air, far louder than the Huntsman would have expected washed over him from his position.
The man threatened a painful death to those that fought him today, though it seemed this words were poor even as his voice carried malice.
It's words like a creeping ice on the back of the spine that the Huntsman could simply let slip off his mind.

The displays of aggression and hostility, the raw display of power as the monstrosity launched a harpoon into a glacial iceberg. As Vodarara, through the clarity of his old keen eyes watched the thick mass of ice erupt into a shower of ice chunks as shards of ice rained down and that which remained on the waters surface rocketed to the shore.

Shadows followed in its wake as the Huntsman himself began to retire to a position further back to allow him to assess the situation.
It would be better to avoid taking such a melee combatant head on in his case. To strike undetected if possible.

Returning to his shivering animal companions, the Huntsman would take a knee as his hides were occasionally pelted by the odd slither of ice as he collected the owl from Shevika's back dismissing the feathered creature into the sky and away from the fray, as he did in turn Shevika as he whispered to each of the creatures ears one by one.

It was better for them to withdraw to a safe distance after all, as the huntsman waited for either an opportunity to present itself or for Asisiak's Command.....

Seeing that mammoth of a woman made Sabin's heart sink, this was the first time that he actually ran into a dungeon beast person. Or in other terms, a human that turned into a dungeon beast for whatever reason. He couldn't help his facial expression of looking shocked since she was so big, but he still maintained his professional outlook of being a bounty hunter.  As a bounty hunter, you are supposed to be promoting yourself as well as an expert.

"Pleased to meet you...mountain lady?" He didn't really get a name, but Sabin would introduce himself anyway. "My name is Sabin, and I'm here for the job. Protecting the nation is a bit too grand for me, but I'll do what I'm here to do for sure. " Sabin didn't comment on the human-hating bit. He didn't feel that way, but this was neither the time nor place to enforce his beliefs upon others.

As Sabin looked out into the distance, he saw that there was a man walking on water and announcing his demands.

"This must be the guy..."

Sabin took out his swarm and started to gauge the distance to at least 70 meters away from the enemy.

"Ready whenever!"
