Job:

Once again Gilles and her followers had found themselves near the City of Magicians but on the outside of their great walls. The reason they were out here was much different than her normal reasons. Usually she is outside of these walls so that she can train and meditate away from the rest of her congregation. She preferred to do this outside of the hustle and bustle of the ever so busy city. Today was a day of gathering of minds and cultures though. Two varied groups would meet and share ideas and food so that one day they may be able to come together as the Librarians of Merlin want.

Gilles was accompanied with several dozen of the Magno branch of the Order of the Flames Reach. She had arrived without the inner circle so that they could handle other things without her for a bit. That and if her theory was right then there would be combat and it had been a while since she has fought without any assistance from them so she was interested in seeing how far she has come in the past several months to year since she was in Kou.

They had gotten to the gathering area a couple of hours before the rest of the pro Librarian movement members. This was so that they could start setting up and preparing food as they had volunteered to do at the original meeting. This just involved in setting up places to sit and to eat as well as any food that needed to be made or prepared on location.

By the time that the Librarians began to show up everything was already prepared besides for the host of magic tools that the magicians had decided to bring in order to show the humans how magic can help society. About half an hour later the tribe of herdsman would show up in turn, bringing their own food to join the side of the meal already present. Both sides already seemed to be cheerful and greatly intrigued into what the other had to bring both material and conversation wise.

Gilles was grinning as she watched both Librarians and her own followers showing off their magic and their tools to the awestruck tribe. Gilles would notice a group of children and decide to start playing with them, the young eyes fascinated with the site of her missing arm. They would have a host of questions for her such as why her skin was so pale, why she had scars and etc. She would answer what she could but would avoid any answers that young minds may find disturbing. She did not do this to spare the children but because she needed to stay on both groups good side and traumatizing children would definitely work against that goal.

After what seems to be several hour Gilles would begin to notice something that would confirm all of the small suspicions she has had about this event since she had first been told about it. There were 4 robed magicians spaced a bit sporadically amongst the large gathering of people. To most this would just be seen as normal people enjoying the food and conversations of the night. However, Gilles was much different than most of the people here. She has learned how to blend into the crowd and has taught her inner circle how to merge with the crowd. With this knowledge and experience she had with this she was able to easily spot those without either.

The four magicians were all middle aged to mid-twenties. The reason that they would stick out to the woman known as the Pale Lady of Kou was due to how they moved. They would move in a way that showed forethought and training. They moved in unison in a almost rhythmic motion. This showed that they had purpose and intent to do something that was more than just gorge on food and talk. They also looked around eyeing those that would both be easy to attack and could be a problem such as herself with her short blade.

She would make her way towards the magician closest to her. She would make it seem effortlessly and casual as if she was just going to get something to drink. She would position herself close enough to the assassin so that she could react and strike quickly but with enough distance between them that she wont make the man suspicious of her as well. She would wait, watching for the right moment to strike. She knew that it would be pointless to strike before they did anything. That would just cause confusion and make people attack her instead giving the Children of Semes a perfect time to retaliate upon the naïve Librarians of Merlin and the tribe of shepherds. Instead she would decide to strike right as they make their move. This would still cause a lot of deaths but she would at least be able to stop one of them from doing any harm.

The 4 in unision four would make a small movement of moving their staffs before they actually raise them to cast their spells. This is when she would actually make a move of her own. She would place her hand on the hilt of her blade, pouring her precious magoi into it as she is pulling it out of it’s sheathe. She would use the momentum of this and her running towards the man to thrust her blade out straight out. It would shatter through the borg with little resistance before finding its mark, piercing the man from behind setting him ablaze making him a writhing funeral pyre.

As she made her move the remaining 3 would finish theirs. The would all cast their Earthen Hammers which will take out multitudes of people simultaneously. She would grin seeing the chaos that ensues and would ignite her wings of flames, “Here I am Assassins!” she would shout in order to gain their attention. As soon as they turn around she would already be flying toward the next assassin. She would just repeat what she had just done with the first, driving her blade straight through the borg and into the body of the Child of Semes.

As she rushed to the 3rd member they would create a shield of granite that would block her attack after it shatters through their borg. However, she and the magician she was attacking would be hit by a blast of sound magic before a golem charged into the both of them, killing the magician and seriously injuring Gilles. She would get up into the air and spot that there was a 5th magician. They must have been waiting just in case there was someone like gilles who was giving them a hard time. She would scowl at this not liking being caught off guard like this.

She would activate her metal vessel producing 4 arms of fire. She would move so that she was in between the 2 remaining magicians where she was no more than 5 meters away from either of them. She would proceed to slam her fists of fire at the magicians individually, smashing through their borgs after 2 punches each before setting them aflame after that. They would begin to scream as they try to put out the flames before their bodies collapse to the ground.

She would land on the ground panting as she was out of breath. It seems to her that her enemies were getting stronger at a rate that was greater than hers. She would have to work on that since she knew that war was coming for her and she needed to accept that fact and prepare for it. She would start walking back to the remaining people, her congregation already going to work on treating the wounded.  She would come across two people deep in conversation and she would just be able to catch what they were saying. She recognized one as a Librarian named Louis, and the other dressed like the attackers.

“What the hell are you doing Yehoshua?!? Your Children of Semes has just butchered innocent lives?” The old professor would scowl at this remark. “Nothing about your little book club is innocent? Turning against your own people in order to serve the needs of the goi? That is despicable. You all are nothing more than traitors to Magnostadt and Magicians.” “This is to better our country! Too long have we stay sheltered behind our cold stone walls. Too long have we cut ourselves off from those without the great gift of magic!” with this the old man would scowl once more before storming off to the gates.

Gilles would be grinning wildly at this exchange of words. This country was dividing itself with this pointless squabble and this was perfect for her. This was the perfect time for her to show this country the warm embrace of her great Lord. She would go to her congregation cheerful about this and planning to help these transgressions grow to make the country in even more need of her and her country.
