Spoiler:

Ammon walked up the street Enun at his heel. The merchants have been complaining of bandits. These bandits even have claimed a few lives. Which was the reason he was here. They had buried the others and he wished to prevent more.

Ammon walked up to a rather nervous merchant. His Sethepts were fully loaded and ready to go. He umped into the cart as he saw Ammon approach. Trying to make himself bigger than he was. He had to keep those he paid in place after all.

Ammon approached and stood beside the cart. Waiting for the merchant to start moving. Two others were there as well. Mercenaries here for the promise of payment. If nothing else they could be useful in defending the cart. Ammon himself wasn't trained in battle. Something he longed to rectify.

"Alright you brutes. The cart and me are your top priorities. Got that," mumbled yes sirs greeted his commanding tone.

Ammon remained quiet and waited for the carts to move. Once they were he walked beside the back wheel letting the two mercenaries guard the front. Their swords would be more useful there to guard the merchant and possibly the beasts.

Enun stayed beside him his ears constantly perked. Once the city was a distant blurr his ears ears swiveled and a growl sounded in his throat. Ammon knew he must hear the crunching of sand. And not from them. He followed Enuns gaze onto a dune. Perfect cover for what was to come.

It did not take long after that for their foes to show themselves. One raced out followed by another. Spread across the dune.

"Body check," Ammon commanded. Enun raced forward at his command. His body ramming into one mans leg sending him tumbling forward. Another ran straight for Ammon. The two mercenaries already in combat with three more. Ammon dodged as he approached.

"Dodge and Tear," Ammon ordered. He did not have to look back to give his commands. He knew Enun was smart enough to apply the commands himself. Enun followed the orders. His body dodging a wild swing from the bandit before his teeth dug into the calf. He shook his head violently ripping at his flesh. The man most likely would be unable to walk again for a long while.

With the one foe out Enun raced to his masters side as Ammon jumped away from the next blow.

"Stop moving," The bandit shouted as he swung again.

"Rebuke," Ammon commanded as a brown blur crossed the corner of his eye.

Enun pushed the sword away surprising the man. It didn't last long however and he changed the angle swinging again for Enun this time.

"Dodge and disarm," Ammon said his tongue quicker than his actions. Enun ducked low and snapped upward at the mans hand as it passed overhead. He cried out as his sword was dropped and nudged away by Enuns foot as he backed away.

"Predator," Ammon commanded his gaze only on his foe at this moment. He watched as Enun once more rendered a leg useless. The clothed leg bleeding profusely.

Ammon looked over to the other two mercenaries. They seemed to have taken down the other three without too much trouble. Though both had their cuts and bruises. The merchant was of course hidden under his seat when checked upon.

It seemed the bandits had been diverted for now. He waved his farewells to the mercenaries  after getting his payment. He was not keen to follow the merchant completely to where he was going. His main concern had been the bandits.

He started for home in the distance. Enun walked behind him at a leasurly pace. The dog having grown hot from the activity was now panting heavily and looking forward to getting back home and into the shade. And both were looking forward to a drink of water.

Spoiler:

"I need a favor," a fellow priest said walking up to Ammon. This was a rare occurrence as he was normally commanded to do something not asked. It had taken a lot of gull to approach the cursed Ammon. Even as a fellow priest he wasn't exactly greeted on friendly terms. Though the general public seemed to respect him despite their own thoughts on his curse.

"I must deliver a letter....to the temple of Ra," the priest stated. Explaining himself slightly. "I need protection."

"I have little more to do in the way of chores. I will accompany you," Ammon said cleaning up the embalming tools. The heart was already in a jar along with the brain in another. A morbid custom even he knew that. However in some way it was interesting to know the brain was like tender meat. Soft to the touch and fragile.

Cleaning his hands in a basin he scrubbed away the smell of the dead on his hands. Then removed his tunic that he kept specifically for this job. Redressing in his usual attire he followed the priest out.

Ammon and Enun walked beside a fellow priest. He had a letter to drop off at the temple of Ra. Unfortunately that wasn't exactly smiled upon for he was a lesser deity...god. The man was already reprimanded by one of the other priests. The letter was written however and he had the desire to deliver it just the same. Which was in a way noble of him.

The silence between them was deafening. It also made the small distance between them feel a lot larger than it was. The sun was casting of shadows between them. Enuns ears perked suddenly his gaze going own one of the many alleys.

Ammon looked back to his dog as it slowed it step. Ammon clicked his tongue and Enun sped up to his side. Something told him whatever it was though it was dangerous. He cast a sidelong glance at his charge. The man didn't seem to notice. His gaze roaming one side of the street.

Ammon grabbed the fellow priest and pushed him into a narrow alley. His dog following behind him. The man protested but walked that way anyway. The temple of Ra was still several blocks away. Too far to run to for protection from the guards. Their only hope was to filter their pursuers and let Enun take them down one at a time.

Ammon stopped in there and held the priest still. Before long two men showed up. Being forced to come at them one at a time due to the space. Ammon guessed they had planned to surround them.

"Flesh rend," Ammon commanded Enun. The man drew his blade as Enun ran forward his mouth clamping on the mans arm. He thrashed about slightly ripping at the flesh until it was bleeding a great deal. The man fell back into his partner with a cry.

Forced to back out to let his injured man slip buy he quickly stepped around him to stab at Enun. Enun let go letting the man flee. The dogs instincts making it back away from the blade as the man swung it three times in succession trying to cut the dog. Enun let out a low growl in response to his pressing attack.

"Dodge and flesh rend," Ammon commanded. Enun went low and lunged inwards. His teeth catching the mans upper thigh. He cried out and backed away. His leg was bleeding and he growled at the dog. He gave one last slash of his knife cutting Enun across the bridge of his nose eliciting a yelp.

The man fled and Ammon approached Enun examining his nose. It wasn't very deep but the nose and bridge were sensitive areas. Enun lapped at the blood as it dripped over the side. His eyes watering slightly at the pain.

"I'm glad there wasn't more," the priest said looking back through the alley. He shouldn't speak to soon, Ammon thought. There was still a chance there was more placed between them and the temple.

Ammon nodded and pushed him along through the alley. They started following the side street towards Ras' temple. It was in sight when the other two appeared. No doubt mounting a search when they didn't pass them.

"Flesh rend," Ammon barked as he saw the pair approach. Enun was more than happy to oblige and ran forward. His mouth ripping at ones leg as he moved to grab his dagger. The other ran past Enun and headed straight for them. His pace a lot quicker than Ammon would have thought.

"Snap and twist," Ammon commanded backing up with him between their attacker. He held his arm out as though to push away their attacker. Though in truth it was more to judge the distance. He could throw a jab if he needed to but the guy had to be close enough to do so.

Enun raced to obey. His speed almost reaching full when he caught up. He bit into the mans leg his speed launching it out from under him and sending him falling back. He landed with a hefty thump and grabbing his leg. He was almost certain he felt something snap. His sobs of pain drawing attention before he eventually passed out.

With both on the ground Ammon led the way around them. The rest of the trip was uneventful thankfully. Soon they were upon the temple of Ra. The priest motioned for him to wait as he headed inside. Ammon complied and looked to the guards. They cast him wary glances. No doubt not use to seeing a servent of Anubis.

The priest appeared again moments later. Ammon gave him a questioning look and he nodded. It seemed the job was completed. Though it left him wondering who wrote the letter in the first place. This priest didn't seem to be well connected enough for this.

No matter however Ammon headed home to put salve on Enuns cut. Even a small one could become infected. He let his questioning mind drop with the task at hand.
