Lagi proceeded to head on over to the fanalis corps in order to  meet with the general. He decided to give Octavius a heads up on his arrival. Clenching his communication orb, Lagi spoke within the mind of the general. “General Octvaius, it’s Lagi. I just came from the council meeting and we got a green light with the unity corps, but I obviously have no idea how to run one. So I’m coming to see you, I’ll be there in ten minutes from the way things are looking.  Also, if you heard of Merrze,  have yet to find any connection to the slavers, as well as how they got so close to the Reim border without being detected. With that being said, I hope your men and women have been more careful. Anyway, talking in your head might seem annoying, so I’ll be there soon.

Lagi arrived and waited in the hallway for an escort. He already told the general that we was coming, so now he waited until the general was ready

Octavius considered himself a brave man, one that feared little. But when Lagi’s voice randomly appeared in his head, his heart nearly gave out. He would never adjust to hearing a voice other than his own in his head. Once his heartrate had calmed to something more reasonable, he paid attention to what the ruler of Reim had been saying. So the Council had finally approved the Unity Corps… interesting. He looked up as Sly repeated himself, focusing on the map in front of him.

“I want you and two of your best men to scout along this line. It was where Captain Merrze apparently came into contact with the slavers. Intel only, do not pursue unless you have a clean and clear shot. I want to know how many are left and who they are reporting to.”

Sly gave Octavius a salute that would have a less important soldier in the stockade for disrespect. Octavius simply grunted and cleared the map from the desk as his Second-In-Command took off for his assignment. Everything straightened, Octavius informed the guards at the door to show Lagi in as soon as he arrived before penning out arrangements to have troops deployed to another destroyed town, the Fanalis Corp working hand-in-hand with Opportunity Hall to provide Fanalis strength and speed to their efforts while also helping to establish a more secure perimeter.

Lagi walked in and gave Octavius a brief wave. “Hey there, I guess you got my message right? Well, I should cut to the chase. Having permission and knowing exactly what to do is two different things, and you have all the experience In the world when it comes to military might and running a unit. I know how to deal with animals of course, many animals, but people?” Lagi shook his head and adjusted his crown. “Not to say that I’m not a people person, but people are….. you know.”
Lagi looked around the area and whistled. “I’m sure you heard of heliohapt’s visit, their appearance, the representative killing two spy masters and Merrze’s sudden kidnapping, being held hostage for a month’s time by “Slavers”. Do you believe in coincidences?”

Octavius blinked several times as Lagi jumped from one topic to the next and then the next in rapid fire. His face was grim at the mention of Merrze and the issue with Heliohapt.

“Captain Merrze’s situation is being thoroughly investigated. In fact, Sly just left to see what else could be learned. If anyone can find something, it is him. He has intricate knowledge of slave trade, considering how long he was one. Regarding Heliohapt, I think you may be placing too much emphasis on what could simply be a rogue, misguided magician doing what he thought was best. Until you have proof that there is something larger going on, focus on finding the one responsible for the crime. For all you know, he did what you have so often done before… acting before double checking if that was the best course of action. You did not much appreciate when the people tried to revolt over your best intention, did you? Do not strain already stressed relations when we just got out of a conflict. Our military cannot handle it. If you have proof that he was acting on orders from the Pharaoh, then we will pull together and make them regret it. But until then, let our intelligence officers do their job.”

Humming softly, he considered Lagi’s inquiry about running a Corp. He remembered establishing the Fanalis Corp, but he already had a large following of soldiers to start with, ones willing to lay their life on the line for him without thought. To start from scratch would require a more strategic approach.

“I hear you saved some veterans. Bring them together, explain exactly what the purpose of this Unity Corp is. Make sure they understand your intentions completely. Once they have a solid grasp, you train them in whatever edge of combat you are looking for. If you are looking for something a bit less obvious than a fist to the face, I could loan you Sly for a bit to train them. He is, by far, one of the best assassin-types out there. Once they are trained, you begin recruiting. Start out small and build from there. Nothing happens overnight, start with five and build to ten, and so on, until you have the support and money necessary to broaden your efforts. It took years to gain a solid foundation for the Fanalis Corp and I started with more than you are right now.”

Octavius tapped his fingers over his desk, his face wary.

“And do you intend to try and recruit from within the Fanalis Corp?”

Octavius was right about this, maybe Lagi was over thinking this. “Alight, maybe I don’t have a lot of proof at the moment. I was just unsettled, and wanted to eliminate any uncertainties before it rose to become a problem. However, this rouge magicians interference has helped me push the current state of the unity corps, so there was a gain from this. “ Lagi rubbed his chin for a brief moment.
“Well, those guys are retired from combat. At the very most, what can I teach them that they don’t already know? They might be teaching the others , as well as giving me some pointers. I would appreciate Sly, only if he agrees to it out of his free will. If he shows no interest, then there is no need for him to act on it as a favor. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like it would be interpreted better depending on someone’s body language. The willingness to be here and wanting to help out shows a belief in what I’m trying to do. “

Lagi nodded his head some more. “Bring out the veterans, start with five, train them and get some more. Got it…. Also…” Lagi would give Octavius a serious look. “ I am, whoever is willing to do something else for a change. Two kinds of corps that serves two different purposes. This isn’t a corp based off of a specific race, the blue haired giants will also be apart of it, if I can get my hands on any. This could serve as a key to improving relations with the north, unity is the key word here. By choice of course, this is a request that they are free to decline, I might even try to recruit you right now Octavius. “Lagi let out a bit of humorous laughter. “If you rather me not, I will recruit outside of the fanalis force. Being the leader of a corp comes with the hardship of beginnings, where’s the merit in taking from something you established though years of effort, right?”

Octavius was impressed that the young ruler actually listened to his suggestions regarding Heliohapt. When the topic turned to Sly, Octavius chuckled.

“Sly rather enjoys passing on his sneaky ways and would generally be happy to share his knowledge with others for the safety of the Empire.”

His face hardened slightly at Lagi mentioning he would be recruiting from within the Fanalis Corp.

“I would rather you did not. I would be more than happy to direct any recruits your way that show a promise and interest in what you are trying to build, but I do not allow anyone to prey on my family, regardless of how good the intentions are. If you are the one to recruit, my soldiers will assume I am encouraging them to join, regardless of suitability and interest. They might join out of some misguided desire to please me. My soldiers look to me for guidance, I am like a father to them. I assure you, if I see any with the potential, I will personally see to it they are encouraged to join you if that is their desire.”

Though he knew Lagi would not see it as an attempt to ‘prey’ on the Fanalis Corp, it had the potential to weaken their comradery if they felt their leader was willing to just hand them off to someone else. The Fanalis Corp was built around loyalty and the sense of family and he would not have that fed upon. He shook the thoughts to the side before speaking again, his voice losing some of its edge.

“Sly will not be back for a few days to help out, but I would suggest you next step would be to gather five or so of these veterans, explain exactly what the Corp is and make sure they understand the seriousness of what you are trying to do. Once Sly returns from his scouting, I will nudge him in your direction, just make sure your men are prepared. He can be a rather difficult teacher at times, but he is not unreasonable or cruel, he simply has high standards.”

“Don’t worry; I won’t prey on your precious family. I know how important family is, and after the incident from the last incursion and what happened to the other members of the Fanalis Corps, I have a great guess that parting with your people isn’t the most ideal thing for you.” Lagi rubbed his hair and adjusted his crown again. “This damn thing is itchy, who would think that I’ll be giving up the throne for a republic soon. I guess it wasn’t meant to be…” Lagi’s voice was pretty low, but he quickly looked back up to octavius. “I’m not having second thoughts about it or anything,  it needs to be done so that Reim can be better, that’s all we ever wanted, right?” Truth is, Lagi would feel like a has been afterwards. The only  upside is that he will be creating a corps whose sole purpose is to protect this new council.

“Aright, I guess you can send on Sly when he has the time and energy to do so. I’ll make sure that I’ll do my part this time. “ With that, Lagi  excused himself from the room.

Lagi spent the time gathering the veterans that he saved, as well as the children of those veterans. Some of the children of these veterans insisted that they  take their parents place, and the veterans also insisted that they helped with the training. That way, Lagi was able to uement creed, as well as have young and able bodies to train with, grow with and hopefully lead in the right direction. Beforehand, Lagi gathered all of them for a speech for a quick rundown to remind them what this was for and why he thought it was important.

[color=#ff0000]“Fellow comrades,  you know who I am and what I have planned for al of you. I am starting a new corps that will be able to handle the internal affairs of our fare city.  This will be a mixed group that is set to improve unity of the three races, together; we will accomplish way more than we sought possible. With the fanalis corps protecting the people from the outside threats, he unity corps will protect the people from the inside. Instead of making a long and boring speech, I am being as straightforward as possible with you. “
Lagi swallowed hard.

“My time will be other soon, and many other will rise in place of it.   Such people would need to be protected and guarded by specialists , and we need to promote the fact that we stand as a union of many, not just one.  Separate from the humans and fanalis segregated groups, this is one that  will begin a new era in our generation, a generation of miracles, a generation of potential. “ Lagi realized that he mouthed off a bit and laughed. “My apologies, I promised to not bring about a long speech, but here I am, willing to lead you if you are willing to have me.

The small speech was well received, and this marked the start of the unity corps.
