Ayero vs. Shushara

With her seventh match upon her, Ayero walked into the coliseum arena with a clear mind. The coming troubles with Kou weighed heavily on the Fanalis woman who was aware that there was a chance for thing to break out into an all out war. A year ago she wouldn’t bat an eye and retreat to a more peaceful land while she waited for any conflicts to blow over. Now she had a country and a family to protect, a cause to fight for. Each passing day brought the threat of Kou closer and the stress thickened rapidly, leading Ayero to the one place where she could blow off steam: Remano’s Coliseum.


Taking her place in the arena, Ayero closed her eyes and inhaled deeply. The cheering of the spectators in anticipation of the match reached her ears as white noise. When her opponent was announced, the Fanalis opened her eyes and exhaled slowly. She saw Shushara standing roughly 40 meters away from her wearing a confident smile. ”I was wondering when I’d face you, Red~” The young woman called out to her, and Ayero couldn’t help but smile lightly. She’d heard Shushara’s name many times in the coliseum circuit seeing as how the other woman was a regular contender. Though she had a small body and a bubbly demeanor, Shushara was terribly skilled and quick, often wearing her heavier opponents down with her speed and acrobatic movements. She was not to be underestimated. Unsheathing her blade, Ayero straightens her posture and widens her stance, moving into an offensive position. ”Same here, Ninja Girl. I’m counting on you to give me a good fight.” Kabu shifts on her shoulder and flicks his tongue out, tasting the air.



The bell sounds, and both women run towards each other at their full speed. After covering about 10 meters, Shushara stops, ending her movement with a graceful flick of her wrist and launching her large shuriken towards the approaching Fanalis. The fluidity of her movements as well as the speed of the Slicing Wheel [1] take Ayero by surprise, who doesn’t react fast enough to the incoming attack. The shuriken slices into her right thigh, cutting deeply across the side of her leg before arcing back towards Shushara. ”Come on now, that’s not all you’ve got is it, Red? This won’t be much of a fight at all!~” Ayero cringes in pain, gritting her teeth and instinctively lifting her injured leg from the ground. Kabu sees his opportunity and dives down towards Ayero’s leg, spitting some of his healing spit onto her wound, hoping that his Numbing saliva would at least be able to take away some of the pain and allow Ayero to regain some of her mobility for a bit.



As the pain in her leg begins to fade, Ayero focuses her full attention back onto Shushara. Re-establishing her footing onto the ground, the Fanalis woman pushes off in a run towards her opponent. ”I’m afraid it will take more to stop me, Ninja Girl.” As she speaks, Kabu rears his head back and spits a Poison Shot at Shushara. But the dark haired woman’s keen eyes saw the poison projectile heading her way, and performed a Dodging Roll to the side. She spring upward several meters away and launched another Slicing Wheel at her red haired opponent as the wad of poison administered by Kabu loses speed and falls to the ground in a puddle of ichor. Prepared for the swiftness of Shushara’s weapon, Ayero stops and raises her uninjured leg. The shuriken meets the metal of her leg armor as Ayero performed her Thighs of Steel I technique and slides off of her leg back toward Shushara, it’s trajectory not altered all that much from the impact.


Once the metal projectile left her person, Ayero used the leg raised in her previous block and slammed it into the ground with tremendous force using her Magnitude [2] ability. The earth around the Fanalis woman began to shake and crumble suddenly. Shushara looked startled as the earth began to move from the great force behind Ayero’s foot, finding the ground breaking beneath her and large, sharp pieces of earth and rock shifting upwards. ”Woah!” The short haired female gasped and cringed as the rocks jutted sharply against her body to leave some serious bruising damage to her legs. She frowned as she looked upwards towards Ayero, realizing that her speed might be compromised with the damage that had been done to her legs.

Ayero had taken advantage of Shushara’s momentary shock to charge at the other woman with her sword raised, prepared to strike in a Devil’s Graze. But Shushara was not daft, and though injured she quickly deflected Ayero’s sword by rapidly spinning her large shuriken in a Deflecting Spin. Ayero grunted as sparks flew from the rapid contact of metal against metal as her attack was successfully blocked. ”Che, you’ll have to be quicker than that, Red…let me show you!~” Dislodging her legs from the rocks around her, Shushara quickly sprung into a Slice and Dice [3], swinging her weapon at the Fanalis woman each time she made a quick jump. Prepared for another attack, Ayero counters with her own Swift Dodge, jumping to avoid Shushara’s strikes as quickly as she can deal them out. After successfully avoiding the first five, Ayero lands from a jump on poor footing due to the uneven earth and falters. Keeping a keen eye on her opponent’s movement, Shushara sees an opportunity and aims the last five slashes directly at the Fanalis woman. Two make contact with Ayero’s arm, and three cut across her abdomen.



Bringing her shuriken up and over her head, Shushara switches hands and performs another Slice and Dice [4] against the Fanalis woman. This time, Ayero was too off balance to dodge any of her strikes, all ten making perfect hits. Six struck her arms, two on her chest and three on her abdomen. As Shushara pulls away, Ayero stumbles and coughs harshly, the force of the other woman’s attacks wracking her body. In the back of her mind, Ayero begins to wonder how she’d be able to get away from Shushara’s swift movements. The pain in her leg that had since subsided was slowly beginning to return as Kabu’s numbing saliva began to wear off.



Shushara quickly performs another Dodging Roll in order to put some distance between her and her Fanalis opponent, moving 10 meters away before letting another Slicing Wheel fly towards her opponent. Ayero had kept an eye on Shushara’s movements as she rolled to the side. As the dark haired woman’s muscles tensed in her arm and she released her weapon, Ayero’s legs tensed and she pushed off from the ground in a Great Leap, soaring above the shuriken which did not meet it’s intended target. She landed several meters from Shushara, focusing the magoi into her legs as she descended. Once her feet hit the ground, Ayero activated her Fleetfoot magoi manipulation technique.



With her enhanced speed, Ayero hoped to be able to out run Shushara’s graceful yet deadly techniques. Another Slicing Wheel was dealt her way but that too would fail to damage the Fanalis woman as Ayero quickly raised an armored arm to block the large shuriken with her arm using Simple Block I. As soon as the shuriken was successfully deflected, Ayero made a beeline for Shushara, holding her scimitar straight out to the side of her as she ran. There was enough distance between the two for Shushara to be able to react, and she grinned as she raised her weapon and sent it into another Deflecting Spin, prepared to once again block anything her Fanalis foe could dish out. Ayer’s blade descended in a wide strike, drawing Shushara’s weapon hand over and to the side to meet her sword. Before metal could meet metal once more, Ayero’s free hand lashed out once the majority off Shushara’s attention was on Ayero’s blade hand. Shushara would find that the wrist holding her shuriken was now in Ayero’s grip. A sickening crack would accompany this action as Ayero wasted no time in putting nearly the full force of her Fanalis strength into her Crushing Grip [5], breaking the limb and causing Shushara to cry out in sudden pain. Her hand went limp, the shuriken falling from her grasp and dropping onto the ground. Before the woman could dive for her fallen weapon, Ayero jammed her sword into the hole at the shuriken’s center so that the other woman would not be able to retrieve it.



Ayero stared down at the shorter woman, who tilted her head upwards to meet the Fanalis woman’s gaze. Ayero arched a brow and a smile twitched at her lips. ”You fight well, Shushara. That was a good match.” Mustering up a small smile of her own despite her exhaustion, Shushara responded with a quick quip of her own. ”Not bad yourself, Red. I’ll get you next time, though!”
