Riku Matsunaga, a citizen born and raised in Kou, is an operative who goes by the name of Aulus Ovidius. Currently thirty five years of age, the man was born on the fifteenth day of the fourth month. Riku Matsunaga holds an almost nondescript appearance besides being fairly short at one hundred and seventy centimeters. His clothing and appearance reflects his organization-oriented mind, as they are always clear cut and clean. With no physical military training whatsoever, and weighing in at eighty kilograms, he lacks the physical fitness of many who have lived within Kou.

Riku Matsunaga is a man who works to work. With his willingness to dive head-first into what he does, and his drive to follow through until he completes his job, he has quickly found himself in a position that requires hard work. As the head of personnel and decorum, Riku Matsunaga willingness to constantly memorize and read up on new files has made him an asset in our efforts in Reim. He is the example of 90% hard work and 10% talent. Riku Matsunaga seems to have a particular liking for organization. While still working in Kou, he has been observed to re-organize his office every morning. Riku Matsunaga has not revealed himself to dislike much, therefore it can only be determined that his supposed liking for organization is, in fact, a dislike for disorganization.

From a young age, Riku Matsunaga has been raised to take his father's place as a governmental worker. Matsunaga's father worked in the department of treasury when he was still living, who was not a particularly noteworthy individual. Through his education and training, Riku Matsunaga began working in the government's census department at the age of 16 at the insistence of his father, allowing him to dodge the 9 year military stint that is normally required of a Kou citizen.

Through his steady work, and a coincidence that lead Spymaster Takahashi Sato to cross paths with Riku Matsunaga, the man was interviewed and recruited by the Spymaster to work under the intelligence department at the age of 23. From that point onward, Riku Matsunaga worked tirelessly to learn his new role within the nation; personnel management. The Spymaster had rare praise for the man and in 4 years, at the age of 27, Takahashi Sato sent Riku Matsunaga over on the Reim expedition for the Intelligence agency. From that point onward, Riku Matsunaga worked as the head of the personnel department for the Reim Operations.

Garret finished reading up on Aulus Ovidius. The man's history was fairly bland, with the greatest point of interest being that Takahashi Sato recognized the man for his ability. Thinking back, Garret could not recall many memories of him being outspoken in meetings or having much to add at any point in time. In a sense, it was understandable; the man's duties did not require him to add much to the discussions they had on a normal basis. He was a man who knew and imparted knowledge of the rules of etiquette, and had extensive knowledge that far dwarfed Garret's in regards to the various agents and notable individuals of Kou.

Once finished reading the document, he threw it into the fire in his secured room. Glancing towards the door, he recalled what had occurred last night. The assassins. They were determined to get me... And there may even be more. He shook his head. This Inn had locking mechanisms that did not have a keyhole, and there were no windows into or out of the room. This was necessary due to the assassins that had attacked him the prior day. He had found that they had silently obtained the keys from the prior Inn keeper, and had used those to gain entryway into the Inn. They could have chosen to attack from the window, but it was locked and the noise would have alerted their prey. Tonight, however, was different. Garret would be able to rest easy tonight. He allowed the fire to smolder as he tucked himself into bed. This time, he was sure to keep his wand and fan beneath the pillow. Lying down, Garret fell fast asleep.

It became morning, and Garret arose two hours before sun-up. He had a strong habit of exercising early in the morning, and as such he immediately began his normal routine of physical exercise followed by mental exercises of meditation. When all was done, he had a bucket of heated water brought to him, which he used to help wash himself before preparing himself for a meal from downstairs. Once ready, he stepped from his room, his equipment in place upon his person, and began his trip down the stairs and into the commons. There was already a smile on his face as he smelled the morning breakfast being made for the patrons who were waking up and filing into the room.

Garret sat down at one of the tables and awaited the waitress to approach him and discuss the day's menu. His wait was only for a moment, and he was quickly finished ordering his food shortly thereafter. Garret took a moment to look around at his fellow patrons, taking in the morning scene while he waited for the waitress to bring the drink he ordered. Many of those here were from Reim, which was to be expected, but Garret was happy to also see two men from Kou at a table, already eating and enjoying the morning as well. When his drink had arrived, the waitress nodded to him and leaned over to set it on the table. "Your milk, sir." Garret simply nodded, and took a sip to start things out. The scent of cooking that had begun to waft into the room earlier now smelled like near completion. Garret looked over towards the entryway of their kitchen, his expectations for a filling breakfast were high.

The waitress had walked through the doorway, bringing out to him his order on a plate. He smiled, anticipating the food to come. Unfortunately, that was something that was never meant to happen. The waitress stopped dead in her tracks, dropping the plate and screaming as she looked over to Garret's table. Garret stood, the sudden dropping of his food surprising him. No! That was my breakfast! The thought just passed through his mind as he heard a destructive noise from behind. The entire table he was sitting at, just moments before, exploded in a burst of splinters. The destruction was caused from one of the Kou men that had been sitting at the other table just a moment before. They had approached him when his attention was focused on the food coming in, and had made their attack on Garret. Luckily, Garret's desire for food and the sudden reaction from the waitress had worked in tandem to keep him from being hit by the Destructive Punch.

Garret, now alerted to their presence, fully faced the two men from Kou. He quickly regulated his breathing, entering a River Styx Style stance. The Bladed Assassin sent a horizontal strike from a hidden blade on his arm towards Garret's head. Ducking beneath the attack, his movements were already being followed by the other man whose name Garret did not know, Sanada. The man performed a Criss-Cross Slash with a hidden wakizashi, the first of the two-slash combo coming down from Garret's right and would slash downwards to the left of his body in a diagonal movement. Quick on the uptake, Garret's eyes followed those movements and he was ready to intercept the first attack by pushing the blade to the side with River Styx Style: Redirecting Blows. Taking queue from his partner, the Bladed Assassin moved to flank Garret, who was forced to use his other hand to deflect a Balanced Blade attack, which moved in the opposite manner that Sanada's attack had. A second strike came from the Balanced Blade, which Garret dedicated his concentration towards in order to defend against the blow, still Redirecting Blows as they came through. Behind him, however, the second blow from Sanada's attack had struck his Borg. That was a price he was willing to pay. With that price, he had purchased an opportunity to strike the Bladed Assassin through directing his entire attention upon him.

Garret began with River Styx Style: Sea's Horizon, a roundhouse kick towards the Bladed Assassin, and the beginning of his three-part-combo. Just as the assassin the night before, this assassin used a Hidden Jutte, pushing himself back as he redirected the angle of Garret's kick, allowing it to narrowly miss his body. Garret did not stop there, however, and spun with the redirection, delivering the second and third parts of his combination; River Styx Style: Crescent Whirlpool and River Styx Style: Deep Sea Plunge. The combination of the crescent kick to his opponent's face, followed by his axe kick against the man's skull, eliminated the Bladed Assassin from the equation completely.

The combination itself did not, however, get completed in a fast enough time. Having been redirected mid-combo, Garret's spin took a portion of time longer than desired for it to have been a perfect combination. Sanada used that time that Garret was focusing on the other man in order to attack him with Grand Divide. The blow hit heavily upon Garret's Borg, causing him to stagger slightly under its weight even as the Bladed Assassin fell down, dead from the force of the two head injuries.

Garret quickly turned, bringing his knee up as he did so with the intent to perform River Styx Style: Raging Current. Sanada deflected the attack with a Gauntlet Block, and did the same as Garret attempted to follow up with a right punch. Having taken those two blows, however, left the man open to an attack. Garret's left arm became covered in Magoi as he slammed it forward, aiming to kill the last assassin with River Styx Style: Ikken Hissatsu: Deep Sea Harpoon. The technique moved forward, yet even as it did so Sanada had knocked Garret's balance off by a small margin while moving to the side. The resulting blow pierced his shoulder, breaking clean through the other side.

Sanada kicked off of Garret and ran through the doorway, making his escape. Garret sighed. Judging by his speed, I won't be able to catch up to him... Now there was a mess to clean up.
