Some people were just trying to make an honest living, and that was something that Alek respected. He was a guardian at heart, someone that protected others, and so he knew how it felt to just want to be able to make sure everything was above the level. There were jobs that were bobbing at just about the level, like the merchant that he was being paid to protect here today, whereas the people that he was allegedly running from were the absolute opposite.
No good was to come of them, they were bandits just like the ones that he'd had to remove with Aulus the other day. He had hoped that he would have been able to get rid of at least some of the bandit population after Aulus got rid of the men and he burnt the camp down to the ground, but some people just never got the hint, and so he was out here today, carrying on putting a dent in the population.
Alek had been forced to get used to riding horses in his journeys across the globe, since there were many places that he couldn't have reached by just walking, and yet today he felt especially vulnerable sheerly because of the fact that he was having to ride a horse into the fray. The man that he was protecting was a travelling salesman, and so he needed to keep up with the man whilst fighting the guys who were after him.
He had suggested stopping until the bandits were taken care of, but apparently that wasn't an option. Something about "scheduling" and "need to make hay whilst the sun shines" but if you asked him, it was just a tonne of bullshit to keep the man making as much money as absolutely possible. the prices were already criminal, did he have to risk their necks doing this as well?
Travelling across the wastes, they had barely gotten five miles outside of the city before the bandits struck. A group of five men, all armed with what seemed to be daggers. The amount of bandits with daggers seemed to cast aspersions on how lucrative the bandit-ing business could really be since they could only afford cheap shit. Now, since the men had shown themselves, he had no reason to keep up with the caravan, and waved the man on his way before beginning to take care of the "dust" that plagued the poor man.
