End of the Hunt (job)

The large snake like creature, known as Babi, had just finished yet another meal and now found himself in yet another dilemma. The past couple of days, the beast of the desert had found himself in a never-ending cycle of hunting and being hunted. He had just finished another hunt and immediately found himself in danger of being hunted himself once more. The hunting party of six had turned out to be one of seven. The seventh horseman was now running away, surely returning to some gathering hub of people such as a village or a camp. There was not exactly any city near here and no hunting party would traverse this far from the safety of their walls. But Babi has given them reasons to view him as some sort of a dangerous best. So Babi was certain that there would be more hunters at his door sooner rather than later.

The former street urchin would have to go straight into the offensive. He of course knows the cave he called home better than the possible attackers but they would be cautious and prepared. They would outnumber him and they could just pour into the cave one after the other and the snake would have no means of escaping from the cave. However, those who see themselves as the intelligent and superior beings don’t often expect the beasts of the wild to invade and enter the confounds of their desired civilization. If the snake was to enter the roost then it was sure to rile up the hens. Thus creating a great sense of disarray and chaos that the snake will take advantage of.

Being of similar mind as that of humans, Babi knew that the mobs of people would not begin the hunt for the snake right away. While word of mouth and rumors spread rather quickly humans tend to be the opposite, slower to move into action. It would take them a couple of days at the least to gather up enough people for a hunting party and formulate a strong and solid plan to vanquish such a terrifying animal such as a giant snake. That would give the monstrous snake in question plenty of time for him to  prepare in turn to perform a preemptive strike.

It would take the snake a couple of days to digest all of the food that he has recently consumed. It would normally take a week or two for the food and nutrients to be fully digested for a snake but due to Babi being a snake and human combination of some kind he digested food closer to the speed that a normal human would. So while he would need a couple of days for that but he would still be ready before the hunters return. Soon he would put an end to the danger of information on his presence in this desert being leaked out to all of Helio.


After the passing of a couple of days, the cave dweller would start to make his was back into the harsh sands of the desert. The tracks and scent of the horse were still there and evident to the beast. They were not that clear anymore but there was enough still there for Babi to follow. It would take about a day of traveling until he had reach a camp of hunters. It was clear to him that they were from some nearby village and was currently on a hunting trip most likely to gather food for said village. This was good to see because that meant that they had not managed to make it to their village to inform them of the beast. Odds are they were waiting to return with the head of the snake in order to be seen as heroes or champions to the subjects of the village. Humans tended to be the easiest to handle and devour when they were arrogant and full of themselves.

He would shake his head at the thought of devouring humans instead of killing them. A person would kill in order to protect themselves yet here he was thinking of not killing for protection but for sustenance. Was this him losing his mind to the instincts of the snake or was he finally succumbing to the dark pit of his hunger that never seemed to be sated. The thought of either situation scared him but there was not much he could do about it at the moment. His hunger was loud once again and he needed to get rid of the potential danger that would bare its fangs at him in the future.

Once more here he was hiding in his smallest size waiting for the cruel sun to set. Animals tend to rather be night or day hunters, one of the other. But for the human faced snake he had more sense about him and could choose when he needed to hunt. When going against hunters or people it was always best to attack when they were sleeping or had their guard down due to a full belly and full of drink.

He would slither into the camp, staying to the shadows casted by the campfire. He would target two watchmen that appeared to be close together. Growing to his full size he would move in quickly and devour the duo rather quickly. Soon there would be a series of shouts and the whole camp would be alerted. One bandit would long shot which Babi would try to slither away from but he did get nicked by the arrow causing him to hiss. He would pierce his fang at one of the hunters who would use glancing blow to parry it but this is when fishbone but he would exert more effort into it creating 4 branches in total, each piercing one of the nearby bandits. While it was not enough damage with the fang itself, the venom would drop each of the 4 men. He would turn to the final two who started to run and would chase after them swallowing them all whole.

With this he would finish his mess that he started days ago. Yet there was something that lingered something new that scares him deeply now. His fixation for human flesh.
