Part 1: Go Hunting

Tokoro sat on the porch of her house sharpening her blade weapons watching the sky silently as a soft breeze rolled by fluttering her hair as it passed. It was past midday by now and things were cooling down. Things had been pretty chill today too. “Dear?” Tokoro looked over to see her mother approaching and held out a letter to her. Tokoro blinked and looked it over.

““Dearest Tokoro, My darling daughter, Light of my eye. If you are reading this, it means you are now more than strong enough to go hunting on your own. You are now a woman.

As such you are now entitled to go out and hunt a boar all on your own and bring it back by sun down to have it cooked by your mother for dinner. I know you will take this responsibility seriously.

Do me proud.”

Tokro stared at the letter for a long while before sighing. Of course he’d have letters for her with missions even while out on duty. She gently folded it back up holding it back out to her mother. “I’ll be home soon mom.” She said getting up, grabbing her scythes as she did so. Her mother smiled softly at her and nodded.

“Alright dear, make efficient kill strokes.” She said waving to Tokoro as she left for the local hunting grounds. Tokoro positioned herself up in the tree tops perching as she looked down at the tracks that littered the dirt path, they were definitely that of a boars, normally sed wait for them to likely migrate back her way to get the drop on them but she was on a time limit this time. She made her way down the tree landing silently before starting to follow the tracks readying her scythes and resting its chain across her shoulders so they would not rattle by hitting her legs.

She took a silent breath in then exhaled just as quietly as she cleared her mind and self of emotions as she used her Void skill before moving in. As she drew closer she heard it eating and angled her blades looking over to it with a cold stare. She then spun her scythe by its chain twice and threw it over at the boar with her Get Over Mere ability. The boar shrieked out at the blade stabbed into its spinal cord. She then yanked her chain back, jerking it onto its back and dragged it over. She then raised her other blade and sliced its throat with a baic D Tier Damage attack killing it. She exhaled pulling out her scythe blade from its back and put her scythes away before picking up the boar with a grunt using both her hands and started to track back home.

When she got there she was met halfway by her mother who scooped it out from her hands nodding “Nicely done dear, go clean up along with your blade while I start dinner.” She said kissing the top of her head before making her way inside. Tokoro looking down at herself coated in the boars blood and groaned realizing how much blood she got on herself.

Part 2: Target Shot

The soft brush of her mother’s hand lulled Tokoro awake. Her eyes parted just enough to see  a hand holding out a letter to her. She sighed and slowly got up shifting her long hair out of her face to grab the letter from her warmly smiling mother. She read it in her head then. ‘Darling Daughter, your mother has set up a task for you in the forest. Kill it.  Make me proud.’ She folded it back up looking back up to her mother who smiled softly to her “Get ready dear I’ll have breakfast ready soon, wouldn’t want you hungry during a kill now would we?” She asked with a chuckle leaving the room. Tokoro closed her eyes, bowing her head as the thair on her shoulder slid forward, rolling off it in front of her again. What would it be this time…? She wondered before getting up off her bed and grabbed her hair brush brushing out her hair before putting her hair into pigtails and pulling on her gloves. She made her way out equipping her blades before sitting down and eating breakfast as it was served.

“Thanks mom.” She said simply her mother nodded happily to her eating with her. Tokoro soon finished her food and waved goodbye heading out to the forest. She soon found her mother's tracks, they were ducken in more then usual which meant she was carrying something… her tracks easy to follow as well which meant the task in itself wasn’t to see how well her tracking skills were, a boar would hide his tracks more than her mother did here… She looked up from the tracks thinking back to the letter. It said specifically it kills it…. Whatever was out here they weren't certain she’d kill it. Given her mother’s tracks on top of that signifying she was carrying something she must have been carrying someone out here… They knew killing animals was less of an issue to kill for her then humans.

And if this one needed carrying meant it wasn't too much of a risk since higher risks were made to walk when it came to her parents. At the end of the track she’d find a likely defenseless person she’d have to kill… she had no doubt in that whatsoever. Damn it… She trained for this exact thing though… She closed her eyes and cleared her mind of all emotions becoming a Void of emptiness. She then followed the tracks into the forest coming across a knocked out local teen that waved to her normally every day before she left the gates to do tasks in the forest. They really would target anyone they thought would distract her from training wouldn’t they…? She pulled out her scythe with a dead expression on her face holding it up to his throat. When she got home she looked at her mother who smiled delighted at her bloodied scythe and the lock of hair she provided her.

“Did you handle the body dear?” She gleefully asked to hug Tokoro proudly when she nodded quietly. “Oh I’m so proud of you! Now go clean up. I have one more letter from your father this time and I think you’ll like this next one more!” She said with a wink letting her go.

Part 3: Secret Garden

Tokoro walked to the bathroom  looking at herself in the mirror as she let her void fade and teared up looking at the blood splatter on her cheek in front of the boy who had just wanted to be friendly. She never even spoke to him. She knew his name thanks to her people watching but she never spoke to him. How would his parents react? Would he be later declared to have been drafted before coming home one day and killed in battle in the name of Kou…? Would such a fade be  easier to hear to his parents then the girl he waved to each day's parents kidnapping him and said girl slaughtering him….?

She clenched her teeth closing her eyes but took a deep breath, she couldn’t show wavering not with her mother so close by she may see it and choose to test her again ending another innocent life. She pushed down the feelings cleaning up her face and blade before walking back out and taking the letter from her mother reading it. “Daughter, Your mother is running low on herbs. Please go collect more in the forest, you know the ones. Make me proud…..” herb gathering. She smirked a bit, chuckling just a little, of course it was herb gathering….

“Told you you’d like it more. Now go run off and have some fun. You've earned it.” Her mother said with a sweet smile letting Tokoro head off. As she walked to the forest she avoided waving back to anyone who waved to her as she walked… they didn’t think too much about it… they had grown used to it… they may have even seen her as rude. She’d rather than herself seeing them dead. She made her way to her mother's usual growing spot hitten well among the brush of the plant life in the forest. She slowly collects the herbs with her scythe being more careful with the poisonous ones  making a small pile of them trying not to take too many so they could regrow later before grabbing some for herself as well for her practices.

She looking at  some of the herbs, numbing agents that also created hallucinations…. If her parents didn't send her on missions at random times all the time she might consider mixing some drugs up for herself to take for some peace of mind for once… but she knew the risk of them trying to send her on a mission and knowing she was drugged was too high and the cost of what would happen after they found her like that made the whole time far too risky.

The thought of a few hours of not having to feel anything and not being attached to the world just for a bit without a care in the world was a nice thought at least making her mentally thank the herbs just for existing before gathering up the herbs in two separate pouches. She then grabbed them and made her way back home handing her mother her herbs getting her head pat as she went to clean off her scythe once more before returning to her work area to practice her poison making. She stared at it with a straight face as she did so knowing one day this very practice… would help her end both of her parents lives.

Part 4: Camping Trip

‘Tokoro, your skills are improving, go to the forest, spend a week there, do not return to the kingdom until you have spent 3 days out there. Make me proud.’ First he said a week then 3 days. But he clarified not to return to the kingdom until the 3 days. But Not re tretun home till a week later so she supposed he meant that after 3 days she could regain more supplies after the 3 days had passed while only returning home until a week later. There were a few cities in the kingdom she had to pass through in order to get to her own so she exposed those 4 remaining days being dedicated to walking home and not a slip of the hand and mis speaking in his letter.

She finished starting the fire gently blowing on it and adding more tinder to it to allow a stronger flame before sitting back up shifting her hair she had let down out of her face and faced toward the animal she had just hunted, a deer. She gently carved it andrested its cut pieces of meat on its husk to keep the surrounded dirt and some insects from immediately getting on it tainting the meat. She looking over to the much more lively flame and carefully placed a wide rock in the center balancing it on a smaller rock she had in the middle of all of the wood that fed the flame. She has made sure to try and find a nice and flat one before washing it in the nearby river. She had watched her mother cook and prep meat many times now so she knew a good bit. Not a lot but enough.

She then grabbed down of the meat placing it on another pre prepped stone  and grabbed a smaller more rigid one and began to hit it over and over slowly tenderize the meat a bit more she gently wiping her bloodied hands on a cloth and pulled out her bag and shuffled around in it she had bought herself something on her way out of the forest. It was a risky move to not get straight to her mission after having been assigned on by her parents but… she wanted to be selfish and feed into her own foolish dream… just to see if it was possible… in some sort of odd world where she could do or be anything she wanted to be. She pulled out several vials from her bag and set them up in the grass next to her and a small white, she broke off a part of it and sniffed it with a soft smile and hum, a bundle of garlic cloves.
She placed it down on the rock thinking back to how he mother did it and placed the flat side of her knife she has wiped off from the deer and lightly bopped it before picking up the knife and attempted to mince the garlic with some improper form but did her best. She then picked up a vial and opened it up sniffing it softly, mustard powder. She added it to the garlic to the side then the next vial, dried parsley, salt, and the next a much larger vial that almost could be called a jar, tomato paste. Finally in a similar kind of vial, flour. All of them had been in larger containers but she had set up these smaller ones to premesure out single use amounts of the ingredients earlier while sulking the deer she was eating now.

She then mixed everything all up on the stone before applying it and massaging it into the meat with a soft smile and gentle eyes she then lifting up her knife and pressed it into the unseasoned meat to build up a little blood on it before gently pressing it to the stone on the flame listening to the blood sizzle signalling its finally hot surface finally ready for the meat. She moves the meat onto the stone unleashing a wild frenzy of scents complimenting one and other daring you to become sick and tempt death by eating the meat right here and now by consuming its uncooked flesh that would sentence you to this unfortunate fate from it not being properly cooked. She gently wiped off her hands letting the flames dwindle after flipping the searing meat to its other side to make it cook slower before adding more wood and sticks to keep it at the low heat levels.

She sat on her knees and leaned forward inhaling the intoxicating fumes shading a single tear. This… this was the thing she wished she could dedicate her life to in this very moment… this amazing art of crafting food, the very thing that kept everything in the world alive, bound them all together. That could bring her joy in the harshest of situations… and in this moment even if it didn’t turn out perfectly on the first try she didn't feel fear of failing… just pure joy over the idea of benign able to make such a dish. And the knowledge she would be able to do so for at least 2 more days. She finished cooking after cutting up some more strips of the meat and screwing them on sticks, setting them up along the fire pit.

She letting the flames turn to smolders to slowly smoke the meat only adding some tinder here and there to keep the smoke flowing while she ate savoring every single bite of the medium rare slab of meat with a soft blush imagining stars twinkling all around her with her eyes closed. This was by far, the happiest moment of her life, no fear attached. She used cloth wraps to bundle up the smacked meet later on after chopping the rest of the meet into small stipps and put them on more branches before climbing up a tree in the distance to angle the branches to let the meat dagle that had been properly coated in salt in hopes for jerk later on. She slept with a happy belly under the stars and slept in happily until the sound of a bear trying to get at the tree her food was at but thankfully hadn’t gotten to it yet.

She stealthily takes it out rather quickly by leaping from another tree getting one good hit in with her blades to make it bleed out. By the time she made her way back into the kingdom's first city she was trading many pelts for some money and enjoyed her deer jerky as she took her time making her way home. She stopped at inns here and there to rest when she was making too much progress too fast and made it back to her house right on time. Her mother welcomed her home with a hug… and another letter from her father making her eyebrow twitch staring at it. Well the break was nice while it lasted.

Part 5: Cleanly Shaven

“Tokoro, I am returning home soon, Fetch my good razor would you? Your mother left it on the old smiths flagpole for you. Make me proud, and cleanly shaven.” Her brow twitched slowly lowering the letter to see her mother's sweet and kind smile, she understood the mission but did her father really have to be so weird with the news. She sighed and set her things down passing the letter back to her mother and nodded to her. Her mother proudly watching her leave wasting no time on going to her task.

Honestly Tokoro wished she could have at least used that new weapon she had gotten while in Heliohapt. While she was down there training she had designed and bought a new weapon one that her parents didn’t know of yet and would give her at least a little edge when the time came to face them. When one stood at an extreme disadvantage the element of surprise was always a curve that would help push the success of the goal just a little farther.and a new weapon type and style was just the type of surprise that would supply the right amount of surprise.

Given the style of the weapon and this mission this would have been the perfect one to practice the movement aspect of the weapon… and she had just gotten back from her trip in Heliohapt and was immediately sent to the forest for a week…. She cursed under her breath as she walked, they had been looking into her activities in Heliohapt, she didn't go through a secret retailer for her weapon due to foolishly thinking her parents wouldn’t have caught word from benign stuck in Kou. They must have heard of her new weapon and wanted to see if she’d use it and see her desired style of use of it. They had been gathering intel  while she had been stupid taking a break from training. How could she be so stupid? Letting her guard down for so long they may even very well know of her talks with that king.

She knew they couldn’t kill him but if they caught any word on their discussion they would likely suspect her plan to kill them now. “Tch…” She paused before continuing on, her parents gave her this task… to see her new capabilities… then that meant even now they were watching her. She focused on clearing out her emotions activating her Void skill making herself devoid of all emotions, had she given away any suspicious looks that would further their suspicions of her…? She thought she was building walls. She leaped up using her scythe at the back of a building hefting herself up before jogging forward to get a running start at another building leaping off her current on planting her foot on the side of it leaping off it to reach the next ledge pull herself up.

In all actuality while she had been building with fragile building materials with little skill… She then climbed up the pole grabbing the closed razor for shaving and slid down the pole making her way back. Her parents… had been closing ehr in so they could take her out if needed…. She wasn’t a child anymore, and she wasn't skill less either, she was well trained… which meant killing ehr off would require far more planning than before. And sending her off to see how she handled herself without supervision… was just another method for them to figure out if she was slipping from their grapes. She walked back into the house where her mother sat grinding herbs and handed her the razor. Her mother took it and looked her right in the eye speaking softly.

“A bit slower then usual aren’t we dear…?” she asked softly with a warm inviting smile on her face… and death in her eyes.

“I’ll be faster next time” She bowed her head. “I apologize.” she said respectfully but simply. Her mother gently ruffled her hair with a bit of grip, Tokoro’s eyes laying on the open blade resting on the table only an inch from her face.

“Wonderful dear, I’m sure you’re just tired though, sometimes things don’t go well when were tired.” Her mother slightly lowered her head with ease to show her she could kill her at any moment. “Why don't you go rest in your room… no more surprise missions today dear.”

She knew she didn’t use her new weapon when it would have been the strategic best advantage for the mission, and needed further practice being so new to her…. Which meant it really was supposed to be secret… and her mother just figured that fact out. “Of course, thank you mom.” She said in the same tone as her mother closed the razor and released her head. Letting her walk back to her room that looked nice and tighty… her parents likely had searched it then cleaned it under the guise of merely being polite to have her room clean for her. Her new weapon was nicely hidden but she was certain that wasn’t everything they had been after. Their wall was being put up, and when it was up most would panic. And run the only way they had left out of fear. She’d be a fool to say she wasn't afraid… but thanks to her void it would be far from lie. But one thing she was quickly learning...even when the walls were closed in… there's always another way out by going up, you just had to find it.

Part 6: Pie Delivery

Tokoro lowered the cleaning supplies for her blades exhaling as she did so. It had been a while since she was sent on a mission it was an odd feeling being at home but not being on missions while home. She looked up to the afternoon sky as a gentle breeze shifted her hair about. She knew that one would come; she just hoped that it wouldn’t be harder than usual to make up for lost time…. Her mother walked over then as if on cue and gently pat her head handing her a letter from her father. ‘Here we go’ she almost muttered, opening the letter to read silently. “Daughter, by the time you read this you will have one hour to go to the local bakery shop, collect a pie, then return back to your mother. Make me proud.”

She blinked then but the bakery was a 40 minute walk there and she’d have to come back too. That would be 20 minutes less than usual, could she really shave that much time off if she ran? Her brow twitch\ed a bit as she heard her mother run off and almost cursed under her breath, she would have to use it… she raced to the woods where she kept Wire Wollus and grabbed it from the hiding spot putting it on as she sprinted along. As much as she hated showing her parents it she had to use it. She readied the threads barely seeing her mother's back as she ran and narrowed her eyes. She flung her hands forward shooting out the threads using 1 Ammunition as it wrapped around the tree branches.

She then hand it retracted as she leaped forward and front flipped as she swung her legs up to get more air speeding through the air. She soaring above the trees, her eyes meeting her mothers who grinned seeing her up there reading something in her hand. Tokoro though detached the last wires sending out new ones as she slowly fell aiming at the nearest building using another Ammunition as she used the wire to swing around the side of the building onto the nearest street and over her mother's head as her mother slipped into the shadows. She was caught up and only used two of the threads sections good.

She tuck and rolled as she landed moving into a sprint as throwing stars hit the fruit stand stalls in the streets letting a flow of fruit fall down she though leaped up stepping down on the now clear board that used to hold the fruit and leaping off it just as fast to get to the other side with relative grace ad to some peoples dismay as she scored between them walking in the process. She narrowed her eyes and kept running flinging her arms forward sending out another Ammunition of thread length gripping onto the sides of buildings coming up before retracting and leaping to sling shot herself soaring forward clearing the point of her mother's reach for the time being. She skid to a stop and darted inside the bakery panting. “I’m here for the Higona pie order!”

She said quickly but as respectfully as possible. The man chuckled and passed her the pie expecting she was late or something letting her run off as he began to tend other customers again. She grabbed the pie and darted out in time for a clothing line to fall into her face but she kept running, flailing to get the clothing off but holding the pie. She grumbled but kept Running taking another path than what she did before to avoid the fruit that no doubt would still be around. She though had to tuck and roll as she looked up seeing rocks from a basket being dropped down from above. She narrowly avoided the rocks and kept running, seeing her mother's figure dart out into the distance, likely to keep a better eye on her in order to see if she got back in time.

She  shot forward with one arm using her wires again using her 4th ammunition getting a lot of speed  as she entered the residential district. She narrowed her eyes on her mother who seemed to be trying to get away from her… wait return back to your mother… she only had to get to her mother! She narrowed her eyes and focused the best she could flinging her arm forward just in time to attach her wires to her mother's wrist and jumped up retracting the wires using up the last Ammunition speeding over to her as she braced herself as she felt herself benign dragged by the wires backwards until she felt Tokoro’s hand on her wrist and the wires fall to the ground. Both panting but her mother unlike her smiling please ruffling her hair.

“You figured it out… nicely done dear… lets get home I’ll cut you a slice” She said happily not even reacting to her wires… So she did know… She followed her back though tiredly catching her breath as she passed the pie to her mother. This pie hopefully would be good…
