”Abilities Used/Trained”:

Jumanah had about a week before the ship to Magnostadt would be leaving according to the man she had been talking to in regards to the buying of the traveling ticket. I would take some time to travel to the docks and such but she’d just make sure she’d leave early the day before so she was there the next morning after. She wanted to migrate over to Magnostadt and start to train more there for a bit before making her way towards her old home. “Thank you sir.”

She said bowing her head to the man who passed her some of his spare writing supplies who nodded back to her. Things were starting to get a bit too heated in Heliohapt and she may be able to get better training in Magnostadt based on what she remembered of it. She believed she was strong enough for a short trip to a place like that but she would have to get a bit stronger before she went any further… That and she heard some rumors of something bad going down over there that she wanted to look a bit more into. For now though before she set off she wanted to  make herself some new spells in preparation in case she’d need the extra fire power.

Planning And Writing: Masking Mist Part 1

Jumanah sat down in her usual spot at a table leaving her staff  against the wall behind her  and crossed one leg over the other as she stared blankly at the just as blank paper. Where to begin… It would be nice to have something that in the future could help her attacks when she learned how to fight like a warrior….. But the thing is she didn’t have those skills yet… maybe something to help her stay hidden? Or even better to escape if it came down to it and maybe later be good to hide in for sneak attacks in the future? Sneak attacks? Was she really that kind of person? As much as she'd like to pretend it wasn’t true she honestly couldn’t say that she wasn’t the type to just charge in with loud noticeable things going on given her sound magic being super centered around loud sounds.

She looked over to the tavern head who brought her her food and drink thanking him with a nod before looking forward to the man tuning his instrument before beginning his playing singing of current events. Jumanah shifted her attention to him as she started to eat and drink, watching carefully for a long while before her eyes slowly widened. She tended to have issues focusing on her spells but focusing on music singing and other such things were far easier for her… if she could make the spells with a base of music and singing in theory it should make the focusing much easier for her allowing her to invest more magoi into the spell and plan for bigger stronger spells!

As the song finished she got up grabbing a good handful of huang and walked up to the man prepping for his next song and handed him the huang with a bright smile. He looked confused but grateful as she marched back to her spot and sat down grabbing her writing tool and wrote at the top of the paper ‘Masking Mist’ And detailed the concept of it like a spell used for hiding herself and escape. Now first things first. Lyrics. They should come from something that she could  relate to and really put emotions into. She looked at the title for a while thinking of her mask and frowned for a moment before nodding. And started to brainstorm lyrics slowly forming them into a nice structure and style before selecting the best fitting line for this particular spell.

This would be her chant. She marked it and started to tap her foot to the music playing from the musician up front working on the structure of the spell sketching out ideas before pausing here and there writing out music that felt fitting to the music and spell structure and not before too long she smiled and nodded finishing the groundwork for the spell, she would have to practice it elsewhere later to really put her theories into action and tweak things as needed. For now though she finished her food and drink and began on her next spell to plan out.

Planning And Writing: The Deepest Cut Part 1

Rolling off from the last one Jumanah this time right off the rip started writing music pausing here and there as she slowly details out a song of her own frustrations and anger and passion towards said frustrations about her current situation in life with music to match. She went in the best she could about each thing that upset her up till now bouncing her feet in her spot as she went into it bobbing her head to the planned song as she read the lyrics in her head lingering on one set of lyrics before circling deciding this would be her next spell chant. She felt almost  lighter having finished the song and lyrics. Like she finally got something off her chest even if it wasn’t directly given information to something else.

She smirked as she started to think more about the music. It always helped her listening to music when she needed to calm down… maybe this was a good way to slowly and even slightly help her problems she heard about herself and her past… Yeah this would be the base of all these spells. Songs of her past, her pain, her sorrow and dread. Some may not get it was about her but it wouldn’t matter. This was for her, her spells, her songs, her chants! It didn’t matter if it was good, bad, or stupid. If it helped her, it fit. Now for this song since it was about her own pain and things that hurt her, how about making it an attacking spell! She thought to herself as she smirked and thought for a moment before titling it ‘The Deepest Cut’.

The previous spell was water based like she suspected she would have  and would have to practice to get the hang of as well so maybe this one should too? Hell maybe all of these should incorporate water somehow but also hold sound magic to some way to practice casting two types at once, and still have a familiar element to it. After figuring that out the rest came pretty easy, since she was going with Water as a base and the concept was making an attack and cutting, she just had to make an ice attack that can cut!

She worked out the finer details before smiling and deciding this was perfect. She pushed it to the side and stretched getting a bit tired. Okay she had to be on her way to bed to make sure that she was well rested for trying out the spells in the morning and just training herself in general.

Jumanah grabbed her things and staff making her way up to her room nodding to the owner as she passed. Once there she looked over her ideas once or twice more before laying down in her bed she had grown so used to, had slightly bled on, and had used to rest and felt safe for the first time in 4 years when she had escaped that first night. The owner had given her a free night and meal that night having realized what happened to her given her state and explanation on what she said she was there for. He had openly guessed the reason when they were alone and promised not to share it with anyone.

He was a good man, who got a very good tip that night. She’d miss him when she leaves. And would wish him luck in the impending civil war with another hefty tip, or as much as she could get with hefty tips without ringing herself out too dry.

In the morning she got up and made her way to the usual spot and took a deep breath. Alright it was time to practice

Accidental Idea: Drowning Fear Part 1

Jumanah focused herself the best she could, practiced her breathing and closed her eyes as she tried to remember the instructions of her old caretaker who helped her learn magic. He had helped her find that she had the most affinity with sound magic after a few tries but before that he had tried water given her tribe's old tendencies with the two magic types. She had seen quite a few kids try to use this magic before in the past, and she had tried and failed once before.

She ground her brows thinking about it gripping the staff more her chest tightening up as she thought about her tribe more, music starting to play that felt fitting for the feeling as she thought more on it clenching her teeth before whispering to the beat of the sound and slowly started to sing the first thing that came to mind. “The fear that freezes you up, Will beat you down, To make you feel as though you may drown, Will tear at your will, And may even kill.” She quietly sang as she held a shaky voice  feeling something starting to rush above her, looking up seeing the forming of a small area of spinning water that rained down on her as she lost her focus on the new accidental spell.

She would have to try and figure out the structure and the other features tonight but that one could have potential. She could still feel her heart beating pretty fast from her mini freak out but tried to calm down and focused on her other things for now that she had planned.

Practice Rounds: Masking Mist Part 2

So she could form water pretty well now that was good. Her extensive practice with other magic likely was helping with that. She figured  as she ran a hand through her now damp hair to get it out of her face and stretched. She just now had to produce enough water to make a nice dense mist. And of course had to practice turning the water into said mist. So she began to practice that on smaller scales, forming water then turning it into a mist, then making it denser, then just summoning straight mist. She then Did a full scale spell a few times making it idle then shifting it as it grew here and there to practice its ability to hold her hide and flee from things.

She tried to run around in it a few times before resting  on the ground  ruffling her own hair a bit that was dripping a little from all her failed attempts. She was smiling up to the sky happily. This was going alright. And… And she was honestly proud of herself! “Hey there… hope you don’t mind but uuuh we saw your mist then the overly large purse you have on your side there.” A voice said from afar making her smile fade and her blink as she sat up to look over to its source.

She saw a group of 3 men making their way over to her with a grin wearing rather shady looking clothing. One of them pointed their sword over towards her as they walked over. She could feel her body growing cold as her eyes grew a bit colder her hair blowing past her face in the gentle wind. The man’s smile widening wider and wider. “I was thinking you could hand that over to us… or of course we could just… cut it off that cute dead body of yours?” He offered with a devious grin and a tilt of his head. She gripped her staff as she shifted up to her feet slowly, the others laughing.

“Bet shes totally scared under that stupid mask of hers.” One said, pulling out a knife. Now would be…

“What has never seen a bandit before lady?” … Bandit… She gripped her staff more. Now would be a wonderful time...

“Reality cuts deep, and so I weep,” She started to softly sing … to test how far she could cast that new spell of hers… if it didn’t work… well then she’d just have to use something else now won't she?

They started to laugh as one pointed at her as they laughed. “Look he’s so freaked she's singing!” They laughed more before blinking looking around as music started up around them it sounded rather bassy.

“The cruelty of others can not be bore alone, It will surely break your bones,” She sang a bit louder as something started to form above her. Slowly but at a decent pace.

“Wait…” The head said, looking to her staff and the growing things above her.

“Alongside all of the sticks and stones, You should never leave yourself prone!” She sang out loudly full of emotion as she scaled up the spell the best she could to see its full current potential forming 3 shards of ice above her. The Deepest Cut for 30 Magoi scaled up each doing D Tier Damage.

“Magician! Ru-” The leader started turning to run but before he could they all were impaled by a shard, one going into each of them. She settled her breathing as she watched them fall. She calmed down a bit though as she looked down to their bodies her eyes went wider seeing the blood streaming out of them as the remains of the shards shattered away. She hadn’t seen so much blood since-.... She did tha-....She closed her eyes tightly grabbing her things. They were bandits…. They deserved it. She thought to herself heading back into town for now and to the Inn she was staying at.

Planning And Writing: Bubble The Pain

Jumana made her way inside the building tiredly the tired and lost look in her eyes as she thought about what just happened radiating even through her mask to the rest of her. The owner eyeing her a bit concerned as she sat down in her usual spot setting her things down on the table and the staff behind her, propping it up on the wall. She sighs as she leaned forward resting her bicep on the table and used her hand to prop up her head as she shuffled through the papers making some minor notes to the abilities to get her mind off things for a bit. She paused as she shifted to a new page tapping her heel on the ground as she bounced her foot thoughtfully.

If those guys had gotten too close to her she doubted she would have been able to dodge… maybe she could focus on some spells that would help her evade attacks better tonight? She pursed her lips a bit thoughtfully as she heard the sound of dishes being put next to her. She looking up to see the owner who smiled softly to her. “On the house kid.” He said with a soft smile walking off. She smiled softly to him looking down at the food grabbing some. She truly did appreciate that man. She looked back to spell and though a bit for a while, she would first do an emergency one, it would be closer to her but allow more mobility for her avoiding attacks at the last second to function more like a last resort line of defense.

She then brainstormed and revised some lyrics until she found a set that felt like a good chant and marked them. She then started working more on the music aspect, this would be a last resort one so maybe something racey like how your heart would beat in such a situation. She then slid her hand up to the top coming up with a name ‘Bubble The Pain’ She decided upon slowly and gently setting down the writing tool staring at the lyrics. This one felt less like a super personal song but it was still fitting to what she needed and the premise of the spell so she'd keep it for now.

Planning And Writing: Loss Of Time Part 1

Those bandits had her so distracted with what happened today, she couldn’t fully think right on what sort of song and spells to make and she didn’t have  that much time to figure it out before she went. She clenched her head lowering it as she frowned. Bandits, always the source of her issues! Things would be so much better if they never existed! Killing her people, causing her to fall into a coma, not even letting her go see her people’s death place without being sold into slavery and loosing even more years! Tears rolled out from the roles  of her mask as she thought about the situation she was clenching her teeth as she silently cried onto her notes.

She inhaled a long drag of air as she lifted up her head looking at the notes before turning to a new page and started draughting down her current feelings going in as deeply as she felt she wanted to between bites of food and drinks of her water. She looking up as some people were dancing to the current musician on stage before slowly getting up and walking over to the people dancing before slowly starting to bounce on her toes moving into a dance letting her hair bounce around her shoulders letting tears roll down her cheeks now as she just let herself feel her feelings slowly piecing together music for her song.

The owner watched with a soft smile from afar as she danced to a few songs as much as her already tired body could do before walking back over to her spot and plopping down writing out the music and planning out a more wide range debuff for others. She paused and made a note, the music would slow down when the main spell took effect as she wiped the tears off from her cheeks and smiled softly at her work. This would work for now at least for now.

Practice Rounds: Bubble The Pain Part 2

The next afternoon after finding a new spot she looked over her notes before nodding to herself  and started to practice her first spell, Bubble The Pain. She positioned herself and took a few deep breaths practicing the music and singing aspect forming small amounts of water a few times before working on the full scales. She slowly builds up to it though with encasing herself inside the water. The first time she wigged out too fast when the water went totally over her. But she got a bit braver after that and let it totally wash over the next time. She then started to form the bubble and sustain it as she started to move around in the bubble.

She practiced slow and fast sudden movements and avoiding made up attacks she was imagining using past memories of up close attacks. She even tried to practice things that she may or may not even be able to avoid but she wanted to practice anyways. Having the thought of possibly being able to avoid so much was poking her up a bit even if most of it wouldn’t work as effectively as she would have liked or imagined. She soon enough though slowed to a stop with this training and sat in the sand soaked from the water and took some time off to rest her body before she continued.

Practice Rounds: Loss of Time Part 2

After a break he got back up and readied her staff and began to practice with her, Loss Of Time spell. This one was more music  and sound magic than water so its premise was a bit easier for her since it was just a new application of magic she already knew. Though the effects with the bubbles were the main points that she had to try to practice forming and limited to the affected area. The bubbles would help her see who was in the erected area and who to pay attention to more than the others. She then worked a bit more on timing out the song that played in the background more effectively and timed correctly. Maybe she could add more effects like the bubbles to the other abilities.

She thought to herself as she kept practicing. She focuses on her spell the best she could while thinking of other effects from the other spells she'd add in only to cause a few on her current spell making her giggle a bit on the mess ups before retrying. She smiled as she kept working before slowly coming to a stop as she grew more exhausted from all the work and stopped herself for now taking a short break before making her way back to the inn to rest.

Refinery And Buffing Out The Kinks: Drowning Fear Part 2

At the inn she ate some food first but retired to her room this time to work on her things in her room given all the chatter about how a small weak group of bandits were found likely impaled by some creature they upset in the desert. She did not want to hear about what they expected the situation to be when she damn well knew it was her that caused the whole thing. She made it up to her room and sat on her bed thinking about that day as she went over her notes.

That's right that day  she had come up with a brief chant and lyric line thinning about some stuff that was freaking her out… She thought a bit more looking over the notes on what happened in the cause of the accidental song and spell trying to think of a bigger stronger scale to this. If she could make this a bit more violent with the water it could probably advance past just a cute whirlpool and turn into a more deadly weapon… She thought to herself before starting to finer work out the music and song. She soon fell asleep as she worked out a bit more.

In the morning she made her way out to her new spot and started to work on what she figured out for the spell. She was flowing in a large amount of Magoi trying to recreate it. She almost got there a few times though  most were wild and unpredictable. She grunted to herself in her own annoyance before trying again before quickly stopping and falling to the ground feeling overly sick. Dang maybe this spell was a bit out of her range… and her body too exhausted to work it as is any further for now.

She sighed and made her way back and rested for the night early and for the next day and night. She was running out of time for getting this down but she wanted to be ready. So she forced herself up when the next day came telling herself she'd take more time to rest on the trip to Magnostadt. She took a deep breath trying to think of everything she did wrong last and how to do better this time as she started to retry the spell over and over again until she got the groundwork perfected or well to her liking.

She sat down to take a short rest thinking on what else to work on before getting up after a bit to get back to work. This time she practiced restarting the spell once more then twice without re chanting after the initial casting so she was ready to try it several times in battle. She had remembered during her first workings of her magic long ago about this sort of thing but never before has she really practiced and used this technique past her initial learning. Up till now she had only really used a spell once then waited for her ability to cast it again then would with a whole new set of magoi benign used. It was foolish and a waste of time and magoi.

If she did more sustaining spells and actually sustained them she would be able to do more damage, or more effects, without beating herself down in the process as quickly. This would make her abilities work better in combat and for general use but primarily combat. She made a note to herself that once she was in Magnostadt she would try to better strengthen and refine the spells she already had down by now and try to better plan things out with them. For now she tried to keep better focus on her spell and kept trying it out until her body gave out on her again. It wasn’t as bad as last time but she knew pushing further would be foolish.

The next day she got ready for her trip before heading out to get a bit more training in. Today was a review of everything and to test out adding more power to her most recent spell she had taken to call ‘Drowning Fear’. And when she advanced it as far as she could go without pushing herself too far that would hurt herself or make the move too strong for her to control she watched in awe of its force and power. It was one of the strongest spells she had seen in person. It was still laughable likely to any serious magician but… this really showed her the destructive power her spells could hold. The strength they promised in the future… She would have to also only use this level of the spell in really needed situations given the level of damage it could do at the scale and numbers it could do it in.

After her practicing she left to go back to the inn to rest, she had to head out to the docks early the next morning after all.
