A Few Month Earlier

Kou was certainly proving to be… interesting. The unrest was a perfect environment for the war-loving fanalis. The potential of Kou excited him. He could smell the internal conflicts brewing on every street he crossed. He grinned excitedly as he placed his spear upon his head. He glanced around him, almost skipping. Oh, the trouble he could cause! Even as he just arrived in Kou after at least four years since his last visit, he could tell just below the surface of what seemed a wealthy and prosperous empire, the makings of war stirred. The clambering of the violence between the men of the cities would soon awaken the beast of war.

There was just one thing: it was taking too long.

Time never ceased to annoy him. His swirling desires to splash blood upon the barbed bushes growing threateningly in the corner, to counter the sweet smelling, damp grass's infuriating green with a comforting red - always prevented by time stagnating the process of growing suitable enemies to fight. But as omnipotent Time presented itself as, Rain's eyes perceived the truth behind Time's almighty facade. Though the gods did not bless him with the ability to drive a spear and end Time's tyrannical reign, a rope opened up the possibility to simply drag Time along. And with such an impressive plan to back him up, he confidently drove the ball of yarn closer and closer to the Abyss of Nothingness.

i. Location

He watched with dull interest as the peasanty sort of folks passed the reputably terrible tavern (though not out of lack of good service) without sparing a single glance upward. Perhaps they would find their strange inclination to meander carelessly quickly slip away. As he observed, most humans reacted terribly to the sight of a red-haired, older teenager spinning a sharp object in front of him. As a general rule, sharp objects tended to petrify people, though he found their terrified reactions bewildering. Unlike most human beings (though he hardly counted as most humans being anyway), the sight of sharp, pointy objects awakened his attention with an electrifying jolt. Too bad no sharp, pointy objects lay in sight of a human being's hand (besides his, of course).

ii. Oratation

The cowardly lot of soldiers easily swayed to reconsider their higher authority’s commands, quivered at Rain’s thinly veiled threats. Something about the foreign redhead left no room for arguments - if they valued their lives. And with a place to meet secured, Rain’s focus shifted toward a man to speak. A meeting of angry souls required a hand to control and bound the fury into a tight, compact ball of well-mannered indignation. He found that someone held in a cell. Sneaking the man out required little skill - you would think they would guard him more closely. In exchange for his release, the redhead demands he speak in the meeting. There is no need to mention any threat under a passing veil of innocence. The man understands his situation. Besides, the opportunity presenting itself intrigued him. Rain could see it in his eyes.

iii. Audience

Though some attempted to pad lightly around the topic, Rain knew he shone as an oddity among a line of sane men. On the surface, his green eyes and fanalis heritage painfully clashed. They accused him of insanity, recklessness, and suicidal tendencies. (Only one of those descriptions were accurate though.) Rain opposed all modern conventions. The word “orthodox” embodied everything Rain wasn’t. Of two worlds - fanalis and human - never to fully embrace either side, to wander the world as an outcast. Yes, he carved a dangerous and slippery path out of water and clay. Yes, his mind, as rocky and snaky as the future he pursued, sharpened its blade against both the innocent and guilty and all in between.

Screams - pleas - sobbing.
Red - pretty, tempting red.

Metal swords glistening under the mid-afternoon sun.
Drip. Drop. Blood.

In the middle of the marketplace, dead bodies lay around the soldiers. Horrified city folk dashed away from the scene, fearful they might be next.

What a lovely little massacre~.
