Merari's eyes were narrowed in concentration, his body still save for his hand. Komori, its neck gripped in his clutches, was waved in a circular movement. The silence was broken as the Magician called out, "Iesar!"
A small breeze was conjured, flipping the pages of the book that sat at his feet. Merari didn't bother to kneel down and turn back to his place; he had well memorized the spell he was practicing. Though, it would seem he had more to do since the breeze was a far cry from the miniature tornado of razor-sharp winds the tome had described within its pages.
Resisting the urge he had to stomp his foot in frustration, Merari closed his red eyes for a moment. His wand was lowered for a brief second as he took a deep breath. As air escaped from his lips after exhaling, Merari raised Komori once more, eyes fluttering half open. He stared ahead of himself as Merari pursed his lips into an irritated line. He didn't bother to pull on Prince Charming's face since he was certain that no one was there to witness him practicing.
He went still before his arm began to move, his hand waving Komori as the spell's motions became familiar. Once more the cry of "Iesar" broke the silence that had settled, and a whip of wind was conjured. It was stronger, and it even began to whip up a dust cloud as it circled into the beginnings of a tornado. But as soon as it came, the spell collapsed and the wind disappeared once more.
With a frustrated grunt, Merari lowered his wand and threw a glare at the book. He meant to nudge it, but instead, he kicked the tome with his foot before bending down. With a snap, he slammed the book close before rising to his feet.
He had to come back and resume his practices another time, the Green Magician told himself as he turned on his heel. His feet kicked up miniature clouds of dirt and dust as he walked towards the exit.
A day of classes past before Merari found the time to return to his practice area. Leafing through the pages of the tome, he flipped open to Iesar's page before setting the book down by his feet. Pulling out Komori, Merari took a deep breath.
Eyes fluttered close for a moment as the Magician gathered his wits. He knew Wind Magic, and he could easily get through this spell. With those words in mind, Merari opened his eyes once more and rose Komori.
The strings dug into his palm as he tightened his grip on the wand's neck before he begun the movements. Round Komori was waved, its motion circular as he called out "Iesar!" A whistle of wind was followed, and sharp winds blew through the area, gathering in front of it. Round it swelled, growing into a small tornado. Even from his distance, Merari could feel the wind tug at his academy robes.
After a few moments the spell was dispelled, and with its disappearance, a smirk found its place on Merari's face. Proud and with an energy to his step, the Magician headed towards a nearby tree. He could conjure the winds, but now he had to see if he could actually use them in combat.
Once more Komori was raised with a sense of duty, and once again it was waved through the air. "Iesar," he whispered as he concentrated, focusing his Magoi into the spell. Once more the tornado roared to life around the tree, shredding its poor leaves and ripping off its limbs. It was hard to see the full extent of its destruction until the winds finally died, dropping the leaves and the branches it tore off. From his spot Merari could easily spot the gashes in the tree's bark; few branches still hung from it, the limbs snapped as the few leaves that survived the onslaught fell from their spots.
It was good for now, and later he could continue his study of Kaze Mahō. With a satisfied smirk, Merari picked up his book and stashed Komori away. Before he left, the Magician took a moment to put on Prince Charming's smile.
