Job:

It was a few days travel from the Imuchakk Village from where he had heard of an incident in the region, The huntsman had headed out and began lurking in this area of the boreal forest for several days, what in truth had led him here was a surprising large number of corpses that lay a track for the information he had gathered, the corpses showed death by impact. The corpses themselves hadn’t been eaten though scavengers had begun to move in and feed on the freezing corpses.

Normally, when hunger and the cold reached a creature it would lead to death but on occasion it would lead to a creature going rampant and insane where it became highly violent towards any creature that got in its path.

It was an unnatural state that would normally end in death, however this occurrence seemed to have occurred to a creature than could handle its own, such creature defied its own fate in a sense and could end up causing damage to the balance as it continued its rampage, sooner or later a predator would bring the creature down and that predator was in this case, Vodarara.

It would be unfortunate if this creature reached anywhere that was to ever reach areas of higher importance, thus it was only right to cut it in the bud before anything more savage occurred.

The outermost layers of his furs were white and grey, whereas the deeper they went the colours were slightly less focused whatever he could acquire, the outer layers the huntsman relied on for camouflaging and hiding him in the environment, most of the hunters backpack was hidden by a overthrow of fur from his outer layer, to help anything more fragile from freezing though more critical pieces were within the internal layers that surrounded his body.

Vodarara aimed to make use of his camouflage and making use of the weather condition and the wind direction to be able to sneak up as close as possible to the wilderhorn, he would rely on one arrow to the heart of the creature, finishing it off with his knife to put the creature down as cleanly and calmly as possible and to return the creature to the earth, like all do when they reach their end.

A quiver hung across the back of the huntsman’s hips keeping his overcovering fur from flapping in the wind. A number of handles could be seen these were pieces of equipment required for quick access, mainly the huntsman’s knives and a bandolier that contained a number of bomblets both poisonous and explosive. The most obvious items were the Huntsman Ice Climbing Tools and his deep red bow, this bow forged of rampaging unicorn horn, strong durable, flexible was his tool of the trade the weapon he would use to launch the arrow to put the wilderhorn down.

Accompanying him was Shevika, his rabbit-wolf companion whom had both many tails and beautiful fur of mainly white and grey with a small dash of orange, atop her head sat an Owl Chick.

This area of Boreal Forest would act as a wind break, he would have to be careful while it would also reduce the wind to hide his scent it would also provide cover for the creature itself, the huntsman moved deeper into the forest.

Many of the trees were old and venerable as the huntsman moved deeper into the forest, the outskirts and the occasional fallen tree would be taken up by a young sapling trying to make its way hoping it would be the one to survive and not eaten by the wildlife.

The canopy restricted much of the light from the area, though with the sun in the sky the huntsman could still see, he followed tracks along the floor of the forest, after all the shelter of it helped keep the tracks intact for a longer period of time, these tracks as long as the creature still remained in the forest should lead him directly to it.

The huntsman kept moving deeper, following the tracks without straying, checking them for signs of change in the creature weight of step to see if it would indicate any traits of injury or need for water or food, which he could exploit to bait the creature out.

As he moved over the tangling roots and the light occasional dusting of snow, the Huntsman primarily focused on moving down the animal trails through the undergrowth, these trails left by animals were the most common way of movement for animals of fair body size, while the smaller species could move under the undergrowth.

The huntsman moved carefully using his gloved hands and the back of his knife to leave as little trace of his passing as possible, moving branches and thorns out of the way without breaking them to avoid them snagging and leaving any of the fibres from his furs on them.

His primary aim from this was to prevent anything from easily staying on his trail as he occasionally stopped and broke up his trail, for a good while he had been under the impression that he was being very effectively tracked, It had been occurring for months but it wasn’t something trying to kill him but rather he was sure it was something remaining out of sight, though he couldn’t exactly say for sure what it was but for certain it was a skilled tracker and predator.

Occasionally, as they moved he would look back to see how his two companions were fairing, Shevika was still young and without maturity of age, she lacked discipline occasionally heading into the undergrowth to inspect something that caught her eye, however this was the risk an adult had to deal with when dealing with youngsters, something he observed species such as Bison cautiously keeping one eye always on their calfs, after all straying too far could easily lead a calf to becoming easy prey.

A number of hours later, the huntsman had been tracking a disturbance and scuffle in the ground, there was only light bleeding but it was enough with the pad prints to track, Eventually the huntsman came across the corpse of the creature, it remained in his eyesight, marking to Shevika he asked her to remain in cover as he moved to the corpse to inspect it, his eyes scattered among the trees looking for any shapes that seemed out of place, however there seemed to be no movement or unusual signs other than the corpse.

The animal showed two major impact wounds, one to its thigh and one to its abdomen, a few small puncture wounds in the impact wounds area of effect, it was more than likely it was killed by a winderhorn.

Vodarara, however was confused the injury was fresh still slightly bleeding, the body still slightly warm but its killer wasn’t here, was it another winderhorn not the one he was tracking or where had it gone so quickly.

The Huntsman reached to the ground and began Feeling The Earth, stretching out its presence further than he normally would.

As his senses spread through the ground covering out to 40 metres from his position, to his rear he could sense the weak presence of Shevika and the chick that sat upon her head, small presences of bigger grubs near the surface of the ground but the main thing that took his attention was a set of big vibrations obscured mainly by roots.

The obscuring didn’t last long as the vibrations exploded into a shower of scattering energy as root sections were torn asunder as the vibrations grew stronger, the sound of stampeding hooves, as it closed Vodarara Dashed away, the huntsman felt the hide covering his backpack and his backpack begin to tear as he dashed and the vibrations rocketed past him, the Huntsman tumbled himself as he launched a Spore Dosed Bomblet from his fingers.

The bomblet would explode in the creatures path as Vodarara tumbled his body placing his feet under himself. This creature was most certainly a Winderhorn, its hide with thick curling hair of a mixture of mottled browns, its head was its most unique feature It lacked any major fur coverage but rather a thick plate of bone covered its equine and bovine shaped face, its ear sat forwards like small jagged horns.

The creature quickly began to turn its body around and prepare for another charge, though its body showed signs of poison affliction, its muscle movements a bit more rough as it closed its charge again, Vodarara Slashed and Dashed the creature, moving his body towards its flank side as it passed and raked his clawed gauntlet twice into its left flanked knees.

As it and he passed each other Vodarara made a Quick Throw throwing his kukri towards the creatures rear section, the creature still made to move away as The Huntsman Dashed again moving forwards and leaping up onto the creatures back as he wrapped his leg around its belly, putting his weight onto its front shoulders and head as he dug the claws of his gauntlet hand into the creatures throat, drawing out his hunting knife, he further drove the knife into the creatures jugular as he tore outwards from its throat with his knife.

The creature came down hard with the additional forward mass on its head as the Huntsman tumbled forwards away from the creature, unwrapping his legs before it could come down on top of him.

Once he had steadied himself, he observed the situation. He had killed his target though his equipment had suffered some damage, the hide should act as a good enough trading item to either trade for materials or to make use of itself to repair his equipment, the Huntsman wouldn’t waste his kill and set to work skinning and collecting some of the meat from the creature, though he would leave some behind for the hunters that lurked near it the forest, it would hopefully keep them from hunting him down instead.
