______________________________________________Description
❝ Anything is accepted in this game... so long as the player is not caught ❞
Born into a gypsy caravan and hailed as a talented magician from a young age, Rikaru's upbringing was rich in influences and experiences revolving around the many people and places the Rumani came into contact with over a span of several years. He quickly accustomed himself to a life of adventure and was always actively engaged in the day-to-day activities of the traders.
In his boyhood, Rikaru was a very lighthearted, imaginative, curious, somewhat reckless, and kindhearted child. He was well-adapted to travel and loved discovering new places and challenges. The young magician was always looking at the brighter picture and shared an enthusiastic outlook on life with that of his peers. While he was reckless in some of his endeavors, he was confident and trusting in his extended family to always be there to pick him back up. This abundance of positive memories and experiences produced a boy with a deep pool of emotional and mental resources to pull from throughout his life.
He was lucky to grow up in a world that did not fear magic and had instructors who readily took him under their wing. He took pride in his work and magical talent, gaining self-confidence, proficiency manipulating Magoi, and knowledge of arcane secrets that were known to the Rumani.
As the years passed, Rikaru developed a much more worldly view on par with an elder. He became a very calm and composed individual, though also retaining some of his playfulness. He understands how the world is interconnected and is able to see the larger picture of things, such as how economies and governments are intermingled. As a child of traders, he is often characterized as being very independent, decisive, upbeat, and passionate, but rather scheming. He frequently dealt in shady environments, employing deception to achieve his objectives.
Rikaru revels in intrigue and excitement, oftentimes coming off as dark, opportunistic, and wily due to the fact that people often mistake him for a girl or otherwise cannot divine his gender. He usually takes advantage of these perceptions for his own gain and always strives for adventure and additional challenges.
Though not without some code of conduct, Rikaru is generally unprincipled, shameless, and amoral, even willing to attack those who he harbors respect for if he can derive some material gain from it. At times, this can lead to Rikaru being rather egotistical, greedy, arrogant, and vain. He values money, power, status, and imagination.
He can be respectful, though not without some instances of disrespect. Most obvious fact of this trait is the deep respect for the raw power & strength of the Fanalis and Imuchakk tribes. Though not extremely insightful and detailed, Rikaru does have a beginner's understanding of psychology due to the years of practice he has had in impersonating others.
Having grown up among the Rumani traders, Rikaru's background taught him a great deal about economic skills among other things. He learned fine craftsmanship and was schooled firsthand in the creation of ornately decorated carpets, delicate pottery, and jewelry produced from gold and silver. He developed a fascination with gold along with the many ways the traders could melt it into a variety of valuable objects.
Phobias:
✱ Bats // Caves
Rikaru is uncomfortable around bats and uneasy in caves where they might reside. He dislikes the idea of creatures that feed on the blood of the living. This mainly applies to vampire bats, but he has a clammy phobia that pertains to all bat species. While in caves, he will be constantly on edge and breaking out in a cold sweat. He may also have trouble moving his limbs about when in caves and will usually be the first person to go into fight-or-flight if he detects bats nearby.
Aspirations:
✱ Rikaru seeks to regain his vision that was lost when his right eye was gouged out. To do so, he requires a healer with β-Tier level knowledge and skill in Healing magics along with a new eye in order to perfectly replicate his past eyesight.
✱ On the night the traders were attacked, Rikaru was assaulted by an assassin which resulted in the removal of his eye. Rikaru is now constantly on a manhunt, looking for the assailant from that night.
✱ Free and as spirited as a bird, Rikaru enjoys adventuring and wishes to never stop seeing new places and to journey the world for the rest of eternity.
✱ Rikaru is interested particularly in powerful objects, unique jewels, and master-crafted jewelry. He is always seeking such precious curiosities out, particularly anything related to lost treasures.

Dancing and Music remind him of his roots among the traders and he often finds himself looking for entertainment in clubs. He holds a deep respect for the power that Fanalis and Imuchakk members wield, finding them to be rather rather inspiring races. Finally, Rikaru has a strong affinity for nature, with snakes being his favorite animals that reside in the wilderness. His favorite foods mostly involve such things as fish... a reason he wants to visit Balbadd so much. |

Dislikes:
✖ Destiny | Rikaru dislikes the idea of having his existence governed by some force ascribed to by anyone. For treating his family harshly, Rikaru dislikes the current emperor of the Zou empire. He's not one to let victory ride on chance, preferring to have a hand in something if he is betting money. For one reason or another, he dislikes scorpions, sweet candy, and Lightning Storms. When it comes to meal time, Rikaru just simply doesn't like vegetables... even more than he dislikes the idea of being married and that mice might decide to invade his sleeping bag. Finally, though not for as good a reason as the others, he dislikes large cathedrals... simply because they are annoying. |

Appearance
______________________________________________Appearance
Weight: 140 lbs Hair Color: Yellow Eye Color: Cyan Height: 5"11 |
Rikaru has a very bishonen-like appearance and a somewhat androgynous body with a very slim build, a smooth-yet-flat musculature, and little definition or muscle tone. His facial features are somewhat child-like and come off as reminiscently youthful. His chin is sharply pointed and the area defined as his nose is ill-defined. His most striking feature is his eye and mop of golden-colored hair. Before he lost his right one, both of Rikaru's eyes were a strikingly piercing cyan hue. He currently wears a patch of his right socket to cover up the loss. His hair is shaded in yellow, but under the sun it shines a brilliant gold. The bangs often obscure his forehead and daintily drape over his cheeks. At the top of his cranium, he places a ripe rose. His hair is long enough that it also hangs over the back part of his neck and over his ears. Rikaru wears a kimono-like vest around his upper body with red strips that come around his neck and tie off just above his abdomen and leave his midriff uncovered. His bottoms are very slight and surrounded by long sheets of fabric that are tied to a metal ring to serve as a belt buckle. His legs are covered by black/blue colored thigh-less chaps and the various strips of light blue fabrics with several lightly colored designs near the ankle portion of the pants. His boots are heeled and charcoal black in color. As a part of his outfit, Rikaru has a velvet purple cloak that drapes over and around his arms and shoulders to shield the uppermost portion of his back. The cloak is embroidered with golden streaks and designed with the faint designation of flowers. Some of his odder features include the variety of tattoos depicting stitches on various parts of his body. He has a very graceful posture and good balance on his feet, despite uncomfortable footwear. Lingering around him is the overpowering stench of dead flowers. |
Special Traits
Eye of Heiren
Rikaru typically keeps a patch over his empty right eye socket, hindering his visibility over his right flank until he is able to find a skilled user of healing magic that will allow him to transplant another eye. He has 20/9 visual acuity unaided with his remaining eye though, meaning he retains exceptional perception in exchange for the handicap. |
Black Rukh
Due to his scheming and deceptive nature, Rikaru's rukh is constantly dyed a pitch black. |

History
______________________________________________History
Each section encompasses roughly 6 years of Rikaru's life.
Wandering Child
Rikaru was beget in a gypsy caravan on a humid summer's mornings. His father was a wanted embezzler while his mother was a run-away teenage daughter. From an early age, he was gifted with magical talent and found himself . Even at the age of 5, he was counted as the adopted son of 5 couples as per the tradition of the caravan.
In the world he was born, it was common practice for children to be adopted by multiple couples who in turn helped raise them instead of being cajoled by their birth mother and father. This produced a deep sense of family within the community of Rumani and gave many a sense of belonging.
The gypsy caravan was made up of merchants, craftsmen, and various other people with a large plethora of skill-sets. They produced many highly valued goods, such as jewelry, various silks, spiced wines, and skillfully embroidered carpets. This was their nomadic lifestyle as they traveled from place to place.
Rikaru developed strong ties with the caravan as they became closer than family. His early years were some of the happiest times of Rikaru's life as he was accepted by the Rumani and even admired for his magic. He learned to knit, sew, and craft beautiful wares and cook meals through his relationships with the various people in the Rumani. He wasn't shunned for his magical talent, but actively trained by instructors who traveled with the caravan.
He was one of three Magicians born to the traders: Rikaru, Aahim, and Helmut. They were known as 'Rah' among the clan and treasured greatly for their ability to make life easier among the Rumani. Rikaru had a good affinity for wind, Aahim was strong in Water, and Helmut excelled in Light Magic. The three of them were good friends and fellow pupils. Nothing special existed, but it helped Rikaru to have friends alongside him.
Having 5 sets of parents was... stressful to say the least for Rikaru. There were times when it was confusing for the boy, but he adapted to it until it was routine that he knew exactly what his guardians expected of him. They demanded little from him and gave him so much more than he could have repaid. He was born a blessed child.
Assimilation
His life continued normally for a while, until the troubles with the Zou Empire began. By that time, the Rumani had many people of different trades living among them. This ranged from prostitutes, merchants, farmers, cooks, and vagrants to home builders.
One day, the Zou Empire approached them with an offer of a home and refuge from other countries for those who were wanted for crimes committed in other nations. The Rumani downright refused to sell out to the Zou and withdrew from negotiations... until a particular night.
The assailants dropped down on them, taking hostages left and right. Rikaru interfered before being pushed down. The man was of slight build, long red hair draped over his face. No matter what he tried, the man had a power he couldn't hope to match, losing the battle and his eye in the process. At swordpoint, the elders of the traders were forced into unconditional surrender to the demands of the Zou Empire.
The traders were rounded up and formally taken to the Zou Empire. Rikaru, Aahim, and Helmut were taken as well.
Gehenna
Unexpectedly, things for the Rumani improved substantially after joining the Zou. They made more money than had been making previously, with demand for their fine jewelry and ornate carpets escalating to a point where they couldn't keep up. Rikaru continued to push for the Rumani to rebel, but as their profits increased, his support was eroded. Rikaru began to feel ostracized by the fact the Rumani had 'sold out their culture' and so decided to do something about it.
As one of the 3 Magicians in the Caravan, he pulled together a small group to commit a coup d'etat of the clan... which was unsuccessful. Both Aahim and Helmut chose to side against him, resulting in Rikaru's defeat and subsequent exile. He fled from his home, taking with him a staff personally crafted by the Rumani with him after breaking his original one.
For a time, Rikaru wandered about the city. He made a living in the shadows, taking any job he could in the shadows to avoid being taken by the Zou. He was a Magician so it wasn't hard to sell his services and crafts to a nobleman in exchange for safe harbor. For a year, he continued to look for the assailant who had caused the loss of his eye, but found nothing.
He remained in the Empire with little except his secrets and greed, though something else gnawing at him inside. He began moving about the Zou, still searching for the thug who cost him his vision and something to devote his life to.

The day couldn't have been more blissfully dull. It was... misty like any other day in Kirigakure with nothing more to see in the sky other than the gray abyss of foggy matter clogging up visibility. At least that is how some folks new to Kirigakure might describe it. It was mid-afternoon when Matsu reported to the ordinary building that had become the actor's primary base of operations.
Matsu was greeted at the door by a pretty young girl who politely slid open the door into the building. Behind the mask, his face was set in a firm and focused expression of seriousness. He was here with a goal in mind and he planned to give it everything he had. After all, even if it turned out he wasn't an acting professional, it would do wonders for him and his immediate future if he could prove able and self-reliant in solo missions. There was also the fact that he was feeling rather moody today and he was going into this situation with something to prove to himself as well.
"I have everything planned out for this mission. Nothing more to do than be the person I always am."
The interior was an organized, though noticeably cluttered, plain space. Piles of objects were labeled and separated into categories consisting of stage props, banners, scenery tools, and other costumes the actors used to practice with before their show. It actually made Matsu feel more at home than if the place had been spotless.
He stepped through the path leading down the middle of the mess, past two unassuming clay-based statues. The desk was manned by a rather pale mustachioed man wearing a black eye patch. He looked at Matsu, seemingly sizing up the tall boy, though his eye movements seemed to indicate he wasn't. He wasn't sure, but it appeared to Matsu that the man was trying to make it seem he was doing everything but. Matsu rose his eyebrow at the oddity, but summarily dismissed the notion.
"I assume -wheeze- you're the caterer for the event? the sickly man seemed to struggle to form the words, though it was obviously exaggerated. In fact, the man's head motions were now getting the most attention from Matsu. He seemed to be nodding and swaying like he was either drunk or extremely sick.
He kept silent for a moment, trying to make heads or tails of the man. Was he being played? Something was certainly off here and he had a tingling sensation in the back of his mind that he had missed something.
"I'm not the caterer. I'm here for the assignment you sent to Kiri. You said you had a sick actor and requested for someone to fill in for them."
Matsu could have sworn there was a twinkle in his eye, because though there was no smile to go along with it, the man's voice became higher pitched and there was an element of excitement in it now.
"Oh really now? I wasn't aware that we were hiring young boys for show parts. Did they tell you to ask for someone specific?"
Matsu kept his composure, but now his brain was in full motion. Something was going on here that he wasn't aware of. The man's spinning motions became more pronounced and he seemed to have developed the habit of twiddling with his thumbs out in the open.
"I was only asked to report to this location. Nothing else was mentioned in the courier letter." Matsu said sternly and with a tone that worked to convey his growing irritation. The man heard and noticed it, but said nothing in reply for a few seconds.
"Letter? What letter? We sent no courier letter. I believe you have the wrong address. Why don't you just turn around right now and walk out. There is nothing for you here." the tone of the man changed to loose, a shift that wasn't lost on Matsu.
He kept cool though and loosened his shoulders before he turned around, fully expecting and tensed for whatever came next. Suddenly and much to his startled surprise, one of the two clay statues previously standing by the wall was now face-to-face with him, its face somehow morphed into a rather ghoulish expression.
He jumped back in shock, toppling backwards haphazardly over the reception desk and onto the floor beneath. His head hit the floor first and he laid there in a daze for a moment or two before he refocused his vision... and found the two eyes of a devilish mask inches from his masked face staring right at him.
He didn't move a single muscle. His breathing leveled in his lungs and he continued to stare wordlessly at the person keeping him rooted in his spot upside-down on the floor. Unexpectedly, the figure lowered toward him, moved their mask a bit, and gingerly touched their lips to the exposed part of his forehead.

[10 minutes later]
"So... what exactly was the point of all that?" Matsu's moodiness had returned in full force and he now faced the four perpetrators of the crime with a rather irritable attitude. He still had his mask on, so the small blush on his face wasn't shown.
"No point really, just to have a bit of fun messing with you. Bit of a small gag we have when we need to bring in replacements." said Krieg, a heavy-set, muscled, and extremely large man towering over even Matsu's height. His hair was crew cut and he was garbed in a casual black muscle shirt.
"Always fun to lighten up serious newbies. Showbiz requires you be both serious but also in a mood to have fun. This is theater... so even though you'll only be with us briefly, we need you to be up to our standards." said Amanda, a tall woman with blue hair tied into ponytails and sporting several tattoos dotting the upper half of both her biceps.
Matsu kept silent, a bit of his sullenness and anxiety dissipating for the moment. The other two, Tsukasa and Satobi, just nodded their heads in agreement with Krieg and Amanda. He wasn't in a mood to talk to each of them, so it might have been best to get done what he needed to get done.
They certainly weren't normal actors and he had to admit from looking at them that they made for a very odd quartet. They had managed to get past his guard with ease, actually frightening him for a second and toppling him over with just a silly prank. He made a mental note to be more prudent and aware in the future.
"Speaking of that, do you have the script for the play? The courier message said I'd get a copy once I arrived here." he asked and sure enough the older sickly man from before approached him with a small pamphlet.
"My part was going to be Malpheus. We can rename him if you wish, but he is going to be the henchman for Sophia. We will have rehearsals this afternoon and tomorrow so you better get to work.
Matsu nodded understandingly and walked over to an uncluttered area where sat down and began to read over the pamphlet.
