Merrze was glad that she was doing her first task. She was going to the western front with her friend Aye, they were informed tat there was a gather of Kou soldiers there and it would be there job to help thin their numbers. She was near the area where they had to go but she wondered how long until they would see the area were the troops are gathering. She was told that this was a dangerous job but her and Aye could probably handle it pretty well. They area was barren and ugly, the only thing that was truly there was a bunch of rocks and broken machinery it seemed, she didn't know much about the history of Reim but she had a feeling that some sort of war had happened here. This would actually be a good place to build up your forces because there probably aren't a lot of people who come here. Out of nowhere a smell filled her nose, it smelled like cooking food, she gestured for Aye to follow her. She started walking the direction of the small, she would move quickly and hide behind larger rocks  She looked over to the other side of the rock that she was hiding behind and saw that there was camp there. At the camp there was a bunch of Kou solider eating food by a fire. This seemed to be the place that they had heard about. There were tents everywhere, she looked around to count up the numbers but she couldn't get a clear view. of how many people there were though. Well that had to try and take out a couple of guys before they report so that the numbers are some affected. Merrze looked around and noticed that a group of 6 soldiers where leaving the camp She somewhat heard what thy were saying. "Alright we're going to go on patrol fellas incase there are any people sneaking around here." This was a good opportunity for them. If they could follow them until they were a good distance from the group then they could swoop in and take them out. She thought that this was a good plan, so she asked. "Alright Aye, I think we should follow those guys who are going on patrol, when they're alone then we can corner them and take them out thinning there numbers?" She of course had to get her partners approval because of course it would be rude of her to rush ahead with a plan without consulting with Aye first. She had a good feeling that she was probably going to agree with her though, since it was apart of their job and this was a way for them to take out some guys instead of luring some out of the camp or just attack . This was probably the best option for them right, they did have to hurry to so guys wouldn't get to far but, with their fanalis speed then they could probably catch up in a matter of seconds.

Task 5:
Job Name: Task 5 – Western Front Troubles
Job Rank: B
Job Location: Western Front
Job Rewards: 200 XP/15,000 Huang
Job Prerequisites: Call to Arms
Job Overview: A messenger from the Western Front has found that Kou is building their forces there, as well. Your task is to go out and see for yourself the number of troops and to work on thinning some of them out before reporting back to Octavius.

Enemy Name: Kou Guards x6
Rank: B
Needed damage to take down: B
Description: These Kou guards move at 6 m/s and each carry a sword capable of inflicting B-tier damage and a shield capable of blocking against B-tier damage.
Abilities:
Jab – Kou Guard moves at 20 m/s to jab their blade forward, inflicting B-tier damage.
Parry – Kou Guard moves their blade at 20 m/s to parry an incoming attack up to A-tier.
Block – Kou Guard uses their shield to block up to A-tier damage.
Shield Bash – Moving their shield at 20 m/s, Kou Guards deals B-tier damage.
Ayero and Merrze had agreed to take on one of Octavius’ tasks shortly after the meeting, heading out towards the western front. Ayero hadn’t spent much time in this area, finding it good for training at times but all around a bit dangerous. Even before Kou had invaded, there wasn’t much of a military presence to police the area. Those who came here to train or otherwise did so at their own risk. She and Merrze walked carefully alongside the ruins of the great battle that had taken place nearly a century ago, using the shadows provided by the rocks and remnants of war to help conceal their presence.

As they came upon a campsite, Ayero peered out from behind the rocks as Merrze gestures towards the soldiers clambered around the fire eating lunch. Her eyes narrowed as a wave of hatred came over her upon seeing them. Taking a slow breath to steady herself, Ayero tightened the ties of her cloak and drew her hood over her head, tucking the stray red strands behind the fabric. ”Here,” she muttered to the other Fanalis, passing her a piece of dark fabric. It was a thin cloak, a spare one of her own that she had brought along. She watches the group of guards leave, noting how well-made their armor and weapons looked compared to the common foot soldier.

”You’re right, but we should be careful. Our hair might give us away. We should follow them until they’re far enough from the camp so that they won’t alert the others.” While Ayero wanted to watch them longer and trail the guards to learn their routes beforehand, time was of the essence and they had to strike quickly. As soon as Merrze was ready, the two Fanalis would sneak their way from the camp, trailing the guards at a decent distance so as to not raise any caution. When they were far away enough from the camp to launch an attack, Ayero lowered her head and whispered to her partner.

”Remember, we can’t half-ass this. Leave no one alive.” The snake wrapped around her body shifted in anticipation, picking up on the cues to know that a scuffle was about to take place. The patrol began to split off into even groups, one group turning left and the other right. With a nod to Merrze, Ayero flicked her head to the right indicating that she’d take care of those three before sneaking towards them, once again using the rocks and shadows as camouflage.

Merrze had decide to pursue the group on the left while Aye took the group the right, it was a smart thing they were splitting up, they could cover more ground but they didn't know that there were two dangerous fanalis here to take their lives away. She followed them using rocks as cover like she was doing before but then again it was a good way to hide and pursue the targets at the same time. She wondered how long these guys were going to walk. but she followed them with patience. She made sure to stay close so she could keep an eye on them but far enough so that if she made any noise they probably wouldn't notice her. Then men had casual conversations about there work and such. She thought it was pretty boring talk but of course she really wasn't going to criticize the people that she was about to kill. She would just follow them with patience until she thought she would be close enough to kill them. They were walking around the campsite area a bit, they were just staying in the same area instead of progressing forward which was starting to annoy her. She seemed to have gotten the worst bunch to follow to. These guys seemed extremely lazy and decide that they should just take a break for awhile even though they hadn't done that much patrolling. While they were resting Merrze hid behind a rock and just listened to them jabber on about a bunch of crap. She was ready to go out there and attack them but they were still way to close to the camp.

She would have to wait until they were at least a mile away from the camp. She as wondering how long the would just sit there and talk useless crap. The soldiers seemed like a bunch of lazy good for nothing but they were still probably very skilled when it came to combat so she would have to keep her guard up when she engaged them in a fight. She noticed that they got up and were done with their break. She was glad that they were finally about to be on the move. They actually progressed ahead this time and she followed them until they were finally far enough from the camp. She gave herself a little cheer now that she would be able to attack her opponent.. She got into position and was ready to pounce on them at any moment. Before she could attack they started moving ahead at a faster pace, maybe they were getting worried that the farther that they were from camp the more danger they would be in. It was a smart assumption but they didn't know it was true. She started to speed up so she could catch up to them and attack at the moment that she was ready. Merrze was now about to be on the attack. She rushed until she was close enough to attack and was ready for confrontation.

Ayero stole closer to her three targets, watching their movements carefully as she tried to find the opportune moment to strike. Gradually, the men seemed to become wary, occasionally turning to scan the area and sweeping their gazes left and right. Ayero knew that she wasn’t the greatest at sneaking, but she did her best to try and create the advantage of surprise for herself. When all three men had their backs turned, the Fanalis woman sprinted from the cover of the shadows, one hand wrapped around the handle of her blade and the other balled up before slamming her fist into the back of the closest guard’s head followed quickly by an elbow to the same spot. The man dropped immediately from the impact, and the other two guards turned on their heels with surprise in their eyes and weapons drawn.

Upon seeing the hooded figure that had crumpled their third companion, both men sent a Jab at her with their swords. Raising her armored leg quickly, Ayero met both blades with her Thighs of Steel, effectively blocking the damage from their swords. She quickly drops into a Drop Roll, moving behind both men quickly at 20 m/s before springing upwards and lashing out with her sword at the nearest guard. Said guard sees her blade in time and Parries it away in time for the second guard to slam his shield into the Fanalis woman’s side with his Shield Bash. Ayero grunts from the force of the shield smashing into her side, the blow sending her backwards with both Kou guards following her with swords at the ready.

Steadying herself and moving through the pain thanks to the adrenaline of battle, Ayero swings her fist at the first guard, using her Knockback to send the man 10 meters away and deal some damage. Eyes flittering back and forth briefly between both guards, Ayero contemplates stomping her for into the ground to use her Magnitude technique to take them both out at once. But the technique would likely only wound them, and it was loud enough for it to possibly alert the camp full of Kou soldiers. Deciding to keep things as quiet as possible, Ayero pushes her sword forward towards the other guard with intent to deal a Fierce Jab. At the same moment, the Kou guard delivers his own Jab, the two techniques clashing with eachother briefly. Gritting her teeth, Ayero directs her sword upwards once she feels the force of her opponent’s attack begin to fade, driving her blade in a horizontal fashion across the man’s neck.

Her victim’s sword clatters to the ground as he drops it in surprise, the deep wound made in his neck nearly severing his head from the rest of his body. With confidence that he wouldn’t be breathing much longer, Ayero turns her back on the fallen soldier as she completes her strike, leaving him to bleed out on the ground. The remaining guard was nearly upon her, having gotten up from the Fanalis woman’s attack and charged towards her, quickly covering the distance. As he thrusts his sword forward in a Jab, Ayero quickly drops her center of gravity to avoid the attack and delivering a High Kick. Her leg sweeps through the air, catching the man in the side and thrusting him hard onto the ground. He groans in pain and begins to cough up blood as Ayero rises from her position, a conflicting look beginning to play in her eyes. While she didn’t have any problem killing in self-defense, she never really aimed to kill. Her goal was often to subdue, but if she happened to take someone’s life in battle during that, then so be it. But she knew coming into this mission that she had to finish these men off. Or at least she thought.

Staring down at the heavily injured man, Ayero sucked in a breath before delivering a quickly delivers a slash to the man’s throat with her blade. It wasn’t as deep as it could have been, but she felt as if it would have been enough. Half-turning to the side, her eyes fall upon the second man she had felled, noting how he had stopped moving and how eerily his eyes stared at her, wide open as his neck bended back from the deep wound she had made. Swallowing thickly, Ayero’s located the first man she had attack with a blow to the head. He had taken both a Fanalis fist and an elbow to the back of his head, his skull caving in under the force and blood leaking from his nose and mouth. If he had somehow survived, he’d likely be brain-dead, she assumed.

Satisfied with her completed task, Ayero sheaths her blade and once again takes cover in the shadows cast by the ruins of a century old war. Despite the ache that begun to pulse through her body as the adrenaline wears off, Ayero heads toward where Merrze had disappeared to with her targets. Despite knowing that the other Fanalis would likely be able to take care of her part of the mission with minimal problems, Ayero wanted to meet up with her before they both headed back to Octavius to report.

Merrze now thought it would be a good time to attack. Now that she was far enough away from the camp and it would be a good chance to take them out. She rushed forward out of cover and surprised the group of Kou soldiers. She leaped at one of them and kicked him in the head sending him flying away from her. The two other men drew their weapons and where ready to attack her. The both rushed at her and attempted to slash her with their swords but she rolled between the two and got behind them them. She used Hunter's Trap on one to keep him in place and went to kick the other but he used Block and stopped her attack. He then used Jab but she avoided the attack and punched him in the gut. She tried to punch him again but he used Parry then moved back to avoid any further attacks. These guys were kinda getting on her nerves but they weren't that hard of opponents so she could take them out without much effort. She rushed after the man and she tried to uppercut him but he avoided and tried to slash her but she moved out of the way and gave him a swift kick to the head knocking him out. She walked over to him and stomped on his neck twice crushing it. "No one shall be left to live." she said with a cruel expression. She then turned to the other guy who she had rooted into place with her sword. She ran at him but he got out of her trap and slashed her with his sword but she moved out of the way so it barely scraped her skin. She leaped at him and kneed him in the face. She then used Lioness' Rage and cut him up extremely bad. After that she plunged her blade into his chest and left it there to let him bleed. She then looked around wondering what had happened to the guy she had knocked away earlier but then her appeared behind her and used Shield Bash.

The attack caught her off guard and knocked her to the ground, the solider tried to take advantage of this and attempted to stab her. She had rolled out of the way in the knick of time, the blade had barely missed her. She leaped back onto her feet and rushed at the man. She had tried to punch him but he had put up his shield and used Block. She then tried to kick him but his shield still with held against her attack.  She had moved away from him the ran in his direction. He put up his shield again to block her attack but she jumped on his shield and used it to get behind him. When she got behind him she gave him two swift punches in the back then had grabbed him by the neck. She pinned him to the ground strangling him until he had no more air in his lungs. She had managed to take them all out despite taking some damage herself. She walked over to the soldier she had left her sword in and retrieved it. She had looked around and noticed what seemed to be Aye running in her direction. She had guessed she was finished with her part. Now all they had to do was go back in the city and report to Octavius. It was definitely a job well done in her opinion. She had at least hoped that this would be a big help to the cause.

Ayero inwardly breathed a sigh of relief when she noticed that Merrze was still standing, noting with equal relief the three bodies scattered around her. Her gaze briefly swept to the fallen guards, seeing that they had all met their end by Merrze’s hand and were not just badly injured. From the way she held herself, Ayero could tell that the fight had taken its toll on the other Fanalis, much like it did with herself. After confirming that Merrze was not seriously wounded and still able to move around, the pair of Fanalis turned their backs on the slain guards and headed towards the city, taking care to choose a route that would not bring them close to Kou’s camp. No doubt that the guard’s absence would be noticed soon and a search party would be sent out only to find their remains. As they quickly moved through the ruins, Ayero recalled what they had observed prior to their attack, hoping that the rough number of Kou troops would be of some use to Octavius.

Her mind wanders to thoughts of her brother, glad to have sent him to Magnostadt when she did but missing him all the same. Steeling herself, Ayero tries to think of after the war, forcing vision of them living happily together and Reim being free of the eastern threat.

When the two women reported back to Octavius, he greeted them both with warm smiles and a friendly pat on the back.

“Welcome back, sisters!”

When Ayero provided the information on tentative numbers, he waved Salia over, the female Corp member taking note of the information with a diligent nod before moving back to a table with a map spread across it, recording the information on the map. He hummed in thought for a few moment, trying to decide where to direct the two women next. Glancing at Merrze, he mulled over the information the two had given him about the fight and thought about tasks best suited to her. She was a strong fighter and fierce in her methods. Sly had told him about some of her Coliseum matches and he could picture one day offering to shelter her in the Fanalis Corp.

“Sister Merrze, would you be willing to join up with a small contingent going on a ‘thinning’ mission in the outskirts of the city? We want to try and reduce their numbers near the city itself, to reduce the chance of civilians getting harmed.”

Looking over to Ayero, he ruffled her hair fondly. The Halfling Fanalis was quickly growing on him with her dedication to the cause and her fierce loyalty that she was painstakingly building towards him. She would make a fantastic member of the Fanalis Corp, as well, though he suspected she had other loyalties with a higher priority with her family.

“And you, troublemaker Ayero… the information with the numbers was quite helpful, but disturbing. I would like if you and two of my remaining Corp members went back to that camp and caused some mayhem. You are, of course, welcome to bring friends of your own. I want you to focus on taking out their higher ranking members. With a contingent of that size, it is likely they have a Commander there, if not a General. Would you want to handle that? If not, I am sure we can find something else for you to do.”

And may I thank you for letting me help out with this cause. I don't know if I'll be of much help but I'll make sure to help as much as I can. she said with a passion. She was starting to move forward and doing these task would be a good chance for her to prove it.

Ayero felt a sense of pride flow through her as Octavius praised her, realizing that she somehow looked up to the General. Her own father was a simple man, and while Ayero had loved him it had been a long time since she had heard fatherly praise directed at her. She didn’t make much of an effort to hide it either, her eyes lighting up at the acknowledgement. ”Of course, Gen—Octavius. It would be an honor.” Ayero thumped an enclosed fist against her chest and nodded her head in a slight bow. She didn’t expect Octavius to trust her with a heavier task that involved working directly with his family—the Corp. The Fanalis woman barely held back the smile dancing on her lips.
