When Ariella had turned in the job, the man mentioned that there was always plenty of work in the area regarding slavers. Ariella nodded in understanding before showing him the papers she had taken from the previous job. He hummed in appreciation of the documents and asked her to wait while he looked them over. He waved her over when he came to one of the papers.

“You see this page here? They mention the man they report to. It looks like this man is holed up a few blocks from where you found these scum. Don’t suppose you are up for another job?”

Ariella chuckled and shrugged. “Sure, why not?”

He nodded his appreciation before giving her more detailed directions to where the man was, as well as warning her that the man would probably not be without guards of his own. She nodded in understanding, becoming a little impatient. She was itching to go out and do something, she was quickly becoming bored with waiting for Figuro to actually train her. Once she had the pertinent details she tucked the scribbled directions into one of the pockets in her sleeved cloak and headed for the door, the man shaking his head at her nonchalant attitude.

The location of the slave boss was fairly easy to find, though it was guarded. She spotted three guards chatting near the entrance of what appeared to be a small warehouse, talking and joking amongst themselves. Ariella hummed to herself, the job was just a job at this point. The original target had been kidnapping people, but by the time it went above that, she doubted the bosses knew or cared where he slaves came from, they were just a way to make a quick buck. But, she did like to see a job through to completion, so she supposed she would just work her way up the chains. Maybe with enough pressure, some standards would be enforced in the slave trade industry.

She slipped closer, her cloak rustling gently with her movements as she dropped her wand into her hand from her sleeve. Taking out the guards would be fairly simple and she began directing the rukh to form around her wand as she eased closer to get within range. She ducked behind a building and worked her way to a small alley that was about seven meters from the guards. Grinning slightly, she finished gathering the rukh around her wand and then directed it to form into a sphere at where the three men were standing. The Electric Field traveled to where she directed the spell, the electric crackling and shocking in a sphere that settled at the center of the men’s feet. She giggled at their cursing as they felt the effects of the field, their hair standing on end as they were zapped, dealing damage to each of them. She allowed the spell to dissolve, seeing no need in sustaining it further as she approached and stepped over the groaning men, tsking softly to herself in disappointment at how easily they had went down.

Once the men were down, it was fairly easy to slip into the building undetected. Once inside, she took a quick inventory of the environment. There were crates and cages scattered about, filled with people in chains. She brushed them from her attention and noted what appeared to be a small office off in the corner. She held up a finger to quiet the slaves that had taken note of her entrance, not wanting to draw too much attention. Her efforts were futile, and the slaves began crying out for her to help them. She rolled her eyes as she looked over at the office, a man coming out with his mace in hand. She sighed and shook her head before muttering to the rukh, directing it to gather around her wand as the angry man approached her. She had to wait for him to get close enough before she could hit him with much.

The man stormed towards her, his eyes flashing in anger. He apparently did not appreciate her little infiltration. When he was just within ten meters of her, she directing the rukh to form Electric Whip, the lightning crackling out like a whip to strike at the arm carrying the mace and paralyzing the limb. The mace fell to the ground but the man wasted no time in snatching it up with his other hand, his muscles bulging as he ran forward and swung at her. She had not been expecting the strike and cried out as she felt it strike her borg and push her back. Her borg shattered under the stress of the attack and she felt the bruising from the attack. Her golden eyes flashed in anger and she whispered to the rukh again as she found steady footing. It was obvious she would need a more powerful attack to take him out and she moved back as she watched him struggle to get his numbed limb under control. The paralyzing effect of her attack would wear off soon, she needed to think quickly.

The rukh responded quickly to her request and the tip of her wand began to crackle with charge as a small sphere began to form. The charge grew and the sphere expanded quickly, the rukh seeming eager to follow her direction and the lightning charge crackled and reflected in her eyes as she launched the Shock Ball forward to strike the man square in the chest. The impact hit him hard and he fell to the ground, twitching from the charge of the ball. She grunted as she edged forward, the pain from his mace an irritation she had been hoping to avoid. While he still twitched, she reached down to snag the keys from his belt before turning to glare at the slaves.

“I should leave you like this for making me take a hit, but lucky for you, I am trying to send a message.”

She glowered as she stalked to the cages to let the slaves out, shrugging off their thanks and hugs. She was in no mood for this after taking a hit. If they had just stayed quiet, like she had asked, she could have been in and out without injury. Idiots. Oh well, the damage was done and so was the job. Once the people were free, she went to the office and repeated her actions from the last job, grabbing up important looking papers and snagging the money. She tossed the money to the few slaves remaining in the building before stalking out. She had taken out a small boss, interrupted the flow of slaves and made sure that when the slavers recovered, they would have no gold to show for it. Not bad for a night’s work.
