Hot air….. Dry weather…. Endless desert… The Desert of Forgotten Souls… The biggest of its kind in the world. The enormous body of sand had become one of the most important and transcendent phenomena in the whole world. It was said that if one entered without the direction of a Heliohaptan you would be lost for eternity. Farah had heard endless stories of these rumors, and he DID actually believed them. The previous week however, he had ventured into the sands of the desert that looked like an eternal ocean of sand and dirt. The sun rays fell upon its surface as if caressing the hair of a maiden. The rays of the sun were however, inclement, and showed no signs of mercy whatsoever. They heated the small sand grains like a smith heats the coal for his work. Taking it to the highest of temperatures, to the highest of burning points, almost as if a cruel torture, taking it to the most extreme points that were physically possible. The san burnt like a thousand coals in the day, and still people lived inside its inhabitable nature. Just as another sign of men’s arrogance to the gods. Defying the places they deemed should remain unconquered for eternity, men in its stubbornness looked for ways to test their patience and might. Like a child that defies its father when he stablishes off grounds, the gods placed the inclement temperatures of the desert as a warning. Nevertheless, human kind was one to always challenge the prohibited, to create the impossible, to discover the hidden, and to conquer the impenetrable. Such is the nature of the greatest race amongst races in planet earth. It is impossible to stop them once they’re decided, by courage and determination are the biggest weapons a human has to challenge the divine prowess of gods and the absolute word of fate. Such is the case of the people of Heliohapt, rising one of the greatest civilizations in the heart of the Desert of Forgotten Souls. However, not everything was lost in this endless hell. Night came like a comprehensive mother…. Like a healing mother… The shade of the moon brought along its dark cloak and coat a coat of restoration and healing. As if the deities of night decided that the god’s will should be limited and their wrath controlled, the night desert cools itself to the point of extreme cold. This was an ironic allegory, as in an attempt to fix the anger they sprout on daytime, the night came to torture men in the same fashion, under the opposite circumstances. Those who traversed through the desert unprepared, would find themselves burning in the day and freezing to death in the night. It was indeed the place where two of the most opposite interactions occurred under a single place. Perhaps it was decided in the eves of existence that the desert should come to be known as the place where the epitome of the elemental display in nature danced for the end of times.
The red haired Fanalis was one of the ones that now faced the god’s desert wrath. He lived in the majesty of the city of pharaohs. The young adventurer woke up early that day, he had heard rumors of an old traveler that held incomparable wisdom. He didn’t know what the prowess of this traveling sage were, but the sayings were spread in all the taverns and bars of Heliohapt. Farah decided to go and take a look at what made someone legendary. He wanted to be respected just as the man that now fazed the population of the city. He wanted for his stories to be heard throughout the most remote nooks of the planet. He wanted for him to be told as a legend, one that would live through the inclemency’s of time and the sands of forgetfulness. Farah knew that for this to happen he’d need power beyond imagination, but at the same time he wanted to know what made the mysterious old traveler such a figure. He didn’t have any trusty sources yet, but he was sure he would be able to pinpoint such an illustrious person. The red haired man woke up early that day as he planned to make his way throughout the streets of Heliohapt in the hopes he could find the man everyone talked about. Farah just went out of curiosity, for if one was able to gather such a fame for himself, it ought to be strong. He asked throughout bars and traveling merchants asking for information that would bring him leads to his location. Apparently the sightings behind the man were contradictory. Some said he was near the ruins of the ancient temples, close to the huge construction of the Black Pyramid. Some said he was found in the most crowded of crowded brothels in Heliohapt where one could find the most delicious of delicacies in Heliohapt. Some others said he got drunk every afternoon in the most famous bar of the city, where even members of royalty assisted to get the occasional drink. However, some people, and for some people he meant an old lady that carried water every day from the outskirts of the town where oasis were plenty, that the man object of such praises would rest by the shade of a palm tree, away from the boisterous noises of the royal city. Farah wasn’t sure which of all the different versions to believe. One part of him thought that he was near the ancient ruins, where the wisest sages of the town gathered to discuss the wonders of the world. However, his guts told him that such an important man renowned for his prowess wasn’t one to sit and discuss the origins of life and the rules of literature. He instead opted to follow the old lady’s advice and headed to the outskirts of Heliohapt to find that so called oasis. He wasn’t sure why he was following the minority’s advice. Either way, he was one to follow his instincts, and the now told him he had to head that way.
