Nemo al-Draque Sorbet-Shark-Cookie-full-3223053
Name: Nemo al-Draque
Country Affiliation: Wanderer
Race: Human (Around ⅛ Imuchakk)
Tier: D
Class: Ranger
Age + Birthdate: 20 + 10/10
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Asexual, Panromantic

Personality: A truly laid back man seemingly devoid of motivation. Nemo's relaxed demeanor when approaching every subject borders on comical, be it talking about the slave trade, selling some plundered goods to a respectable merchant, or deciding the fate of a nation. Nothing really seems to shake him up that much, a man who can't really get chuffed about anything, good or bad. Of course, when lacking in overt emotion, the more subtle aspects are key in determining how he feels about things. A slight frown or smile can mean the difference between disgust or jubilance; a slight hesitence in his voice can indicate vehement disapproval, while a slight chuckle is like bombastic laughter.

All the same, he maintains a chill, dispassionate vibe about himself. In particular, while his voice and general behavior is quite subdued, he is, at heart, an adventurer who decides his own path and follows it, fighting tooth and nail for his decisions be they for better or worse. He's something of a stubborn fellow that way, where it's oppressively difficult to change his mind with passion alone. Yet Nemo is a reasonable man – everyone is free to make their decisions as he is to make his own, and there are cases where he can be convinced to change his mind based on business prospects. Typically he likes to have options to use in his future, but hates to be beholden to a debt he might not want to follow later on.
Likes:
+Mystery: A good mystery is a good adventure – albeit perhaps only of the mind. Of course, it's when mystery and adventure truly overlap that he is at his prime.

+Good Business: It's difficult to get into his head about many things, but when it comes to business, he likes to be very clear and very profitable. Money is freedom, they say.
Dislikes:
-Slavers: The very opposite of freedom is slavery. He's not vocal about his distaste for them, much as he's not vocal about most things he doesn't like, but if offered even the most lucrative of business opportunities to work with slavers, he'd decline on principle. No point in being free if others lose their freedom because of it.

-Lusty Maidens: Peddlers of the flesh and promiscuous folks disinterest him. His dislike for them is similar to a disappointed parent wishing their child made better choices, not necessarily a dislike born of anger or disgust, but one of concern. This might have something to do with his preferences being a bit atypical for his own line of work.
Aspirations:
+Freedom: It is not merely his preference, but his principle that he is beholden to nobody and nothing outside his own choosing. Each person is free to make their decisions and fight for their beliefs, yet only when his own principle is challenged does he truly rise to the occasion. In this, the fact that his freedom even can be challenged is rather an affront to his principles, so he aspires to true freedom.

+Wealth: 'Money Is Freedom' is a phrase echoed by many both poor and rich with varying levels of distaste and irony. Yet it holds no such spite within his heart, rather it is held as simple truth. Of course, it doesn't help that he's quite greedy on the down-low and tends to drool over the very idea of treasure.

+Birthright: A man known as 'the Fearsome Dragon of the Seas' is sometimes referred to as the 'King of the Blue'. Frankoko al-Draque, his true name, is Nemo's great grandfather on his mother's side. Though the great man died many decades past, his ship was reportedly missing even before he died.

Legends say that the Golden Hind contains all the King of the Blue's riches and was set adrift in the sea to sail aimlessly forever. Truly without aim, as the steering wheel of this legendary vessel has been passed through the Draque lineage for generations, even when lost to the sea itself. Whether it's still out there a hundred years later, or sunk to the bottom of the sea, Nemo seeks out that treasure and all that it represents.
Phobias/fears:
-Superstitious: There are many superstitions to be found around the world, from the most basic to some truly niche and bizarre ones. He's a bit of a sucker for a good cautionary tale, to the point where he tends to take on superstitious beliefs of locals and friends for a while. This can be abused a bit for pranks, since people can even convince him of totally fake superstitions, albeit only if he has no reason to distrust them.

Face-Claim: Sorbet Shark Cookie from Cookie Run: Kingdom
Hair Color: Cyan
Eye Color: Navy Blue
Height: 180 cm (~5'11")
Weight: 68 kg (~150 lbs)
Appearance: Nemo is a fairly tall fellow and has dull ruby-pink skin with blue, drooping eyes that indicate a level of constant relaxation that some could only dream of. His hair is a muted cyan color, with an ahoge stylized after a shark's dorsal fin, often slicked back smoothly so that it flows nicely, and even tied at the back so that it stays. His typical fashion is a pirate-like setup of brown cavalier boots with simple black pants, along with a bell-sleeved white lace-up shirt under a black vest. He wears a fuschia sash on his waist, and a black band on his left wrist.

Rukh Alignment: White
Special Features: Nemo has oddly pronounced canines, which give him a slightly vampiric-looking overbite. His hair definitely makes him stand out in a crowd.

History: To say that his family was a very large and convoluted mess would be underselling it. With one half of his family being descended from an Imuchakk Pirate Lord, and the other half being a noble family with more uncles and aunts than sense between the lot of them, his early life was fairly chaotic, albeit cushy, to say the least. Nemo was born the fourth and last son of 9 children, with his only younger sibling being his younger sister.

While growing up, there was a sort of constant chaos at play which always seemed to go over his head. While his needs were taken care of, there was a sort of dull curiosity which caused him to poke his nose into family affairs. He got a good sense for finances as he examined the family ledgers, and grew to understand the dirty tricks at play.

None of this bothered him in particular, except towards the end of the ledgers where he noticed that his younger sister was bringing in a large amount of money as well. Looking into it, she seemed to be doing medical work, and yet he'd never seen her reading books of medicine, and the fact that it was recorded in the family ledgers meant somebody knew.

So he poked his nose where it didn't belong, and found out that his sister was born with strange powers, which were kept under wraps by the efforts of his father. Nemo found dirty laundry in the family closet, and soon found out exactly who was paying for this stuff: Rebels. Of course, since he was a wholly uninteresting child, he'd never really been shown the underbelly of the city, he essentially discovered that his father was a villain.

So he did what any good child would do and reported his father for consorting with revolutionaries. Anonymously of course. Once the investigations went underway it wasn't long before his sister was sniffed out, and the witch hunters came. The family manor was burned by people shouting about heresy and curses, and his sister was forced into hiding. Much of his family was slaughtered, but his mother and he managed to escape that land by boat.

A small amount of food and a family heirloom were all she could salvage from the burning wreckage – or perhaps all she thought to salvage. She obsessed over the wheel, and muttered constantly about how it would turn their fortunes around. They were scooped up by a band of pirates after a few days, and while his mother essentially got to escape with her life, they took Nemo as payment.

And so he spent years with these pirates, swabbing the deck, manning the cannons, learning the ins and outs of naval travel and warfare. Swashbuckling became a treat, and they went on many adventures, before their captain was captured leaving behind the message to the crew to find their own way and to be free.

Just like that, Nemo had been deposited on the other end of a grand adventure. He would have been content to open a business, selling antiques and curios perhaps. While looking into the market for such oddities, he found a strange curio, which reminded him of something. A particular steering wheel which called out to him.

Indeed this was the very same helmpiece that his mother was obsessed over years prior, and it apparently had fallen into the hands of some 'merchants' who were 'excavating' a shipwreck. Nemo found himself purchasing that selfsame family heirloom, and finding himself enticed, much like his mother was, to seek out the vessel this wheel belonged to.

Perhaps it was time to seek his freedom at long last.
Role-Play Sample: The seas were fair today. The sun was shining, a good breeze blew the ship on the chosen path. Everything was moving along swimmingly, except for the fact that this wasn't Nemo's ship, and he'd in fact been captured by an enemy crew.

"Ah geez. This isn't very good, huh?" he asked rhetorically, with a subdued tone that bespoke more casual worry than was due a situation. Bound in ropes, with a blade to his throat, a lone bead of sweat was really all that indicated his discomfort.

Yet all was not lost, as a familiar ship peeled into view at ramming speed. "Hey guys!" he'd shout loudly but calmly to the crew manning the vessel clearly headed for this ship, "Can I get some help over here!?" A small smile had replaced any discomfort in his expression, as an audible response was heard – the crew of the oncoming ship affirming his orders with a hearty "Aye aye, Captain!"
