Job Name: Rain Upon Dreams
Job Rank: B-Tier
Job Location: Magnostadt Academy
Job Rewards: [ 200 XP ] || [ 15,000 Huang ]
Job Prerequisites: -
Job Overview: A group of embittered failures has recently been causing havoc, attacking mainly 2nd Kodor students. Find those responsible and bring them to the authorities.

Azazel stood just outside the gates to the city, he had been dreaming of this moment for years. A man approached asking what his business was and Azazel had informed him he was a magician looking to gain access and join the academy for magical learning. The man took out a big hammer and attacked him, his Borg blocking the blow but shattering from the impact. With a nod, he clapped the teenager on the shoulder and gave him a map. Pointing at the academy in the distance. After that, the gates were opened and a starry eyed boy from a small farm was admitted in.

The city was like nothing he had ever seen before, it was massive! Large towers, shiny well cleaned streets, Magicians of all types from those in flowing robes and long beards, to armored clad magician knights, to beautiful women who seemed to glow. It was nothing like his little home and he wasn't sure if he was in love with the city or homesick for home. He did know however that he was way out of his element here.

Following the map, he walked up the street towards the Academy. Along the way he saw amazing things, fantastical things. Magic! Everywhere he gazed there was magic, he couldn't help but grin at the idea that one day he too would learn all of this. And here he would gain knowledge, the Academy! Azazel stood in front of the massive building, probably the biggest building in the whole city. It was more than massive, it was gigantic. The doors were intricately carved, a lot of thought had gone into this building, the citadel of Magnostadt.

Upon entering, Azazel was greeted by a young man in robes, Azazel informed him he was new to the city and wanted to enroll into the Academy. The young man lead him to a clerical office where he spent a hour filling out forms, a bit difficult as he knew only the most basic writing and reading skills. Several times he had to ask the Clerk for information on a word or sign. After that was done he was directed to go to another chamber to get his first level books.

On his way, he noticed a bunch of people running down a hall. That seemed out of place for the calm and almost sleepy like building. Magician's didn't run unless they had too. He turned his head as a young man stepped around the corner, he looked angry and was attacking a young man trying to escape. Azazel lifted his staff, aiming it at the man, his eyes narrowing. "Firaga Quiveria!" A pair of arrows made of pure fire appeared at the end of his staff and rocketed down the hall. The man was only fifteen feet away and was obviously not prepared to be attacked. The arrow smashed into his borg shattering it. The other took him mid chest, throwing him back and slamming into the wall where he slumped down. He looked around wondering if he had attracted attention.

However for Azazel he had alerted others to his presence. He didn't know if it was just one person or many but in that moment he had made at least one enemy.

For the sake of her own sanity...Noir wondered why she would always fall into the temptation of spending all night long reading books and ended up not getting any sleep... like at all. The black haired girl groaned again as she massaged her eyes before looking at her now spacious room because she gave almost all of her books to the public library and sighed. She knew it would take a short time for her to create several mountains of book again anyways... but she would try to win against the temptation of buying new books or even spending whole night reading... hopefully. Although it was a bad thought, Noir really wish something would happen at the academy, so class would be cancelled and she could actually go to sleep. But alas, as the golden eyed girl walked to her class, nothing bad really happened. Oh well, she just had to deal with it and actually trying to pay attention to today's class... and suddenly... God really listened to her pleas... and Noir felt 50:50 about it.

The lecturer said that today's class will be cancelled due to some students causing some havoc at the academy and he told the students to just stay at the class for now... or to go back to their own room at the dorm until the academy staffs deal with the trouble students. Of course... most of the students would rather be walking back to their dorm than staying in the class. But as soon as one of the students opened the classroom door, there was a really bright light, causing several students to be blinded. The black haired girl who saw that would quickly ran towards the door but no one can be seen, probably they got away right after attacking.

Things got pretty chaotic right after that, some students, mostly the lower Kodor member were running around the academy, fearing to be attacked by those who called themselves as the failures of the academy who will bring justice. Noir couldn't believe she heard something like that as she was looking around the crowds, trying to find the problem students... Sighed because she actually felt a little bit guilty about praying something like this to happen, Noir would continue her search by running. But she would be so focused on looking for the problem students and wasn't able to pay attention to her surrounding really well, obviously, because it was crowded, students running everywhere to anywhere. Hence why... she tripped on something that she couldn't tell and fell right next besides the blue haired man.

Azazel gazed at the unmoving man at the end of the hall and felt nothing. Nothing at all for a man who he had severely injured. That was probably not a good trait of his to learn about in the middle of a battle, unsympathetic to a enemy, interesting. For now however he had other things to deal with, that spell took a lot out of him and would need time before he could draw the power to launch it again. It also took a lot to cast being his strongest spell, but it seemed to have done the trick. He was glad he had went with the double arrow as he suspected the other man had a light shield as well. However he had learned from his brothers those shields could be destroyed.

Azazel walked down the hall, staff at the ready. Well it was actually a shepherds crook that his father had cut from the old oak tree on their land. The tree was old as the land itself, his ancestors had settled beside it out of a unknown feeling. But all their Crooks were made from the oak tree's fallen branches. The land itself was always fertile, their sheep grew bigger and stronger than others and winter and summer were never too harsh. It was a good omen and the tree was kept well tended too as his father was the superstitious type. It would not surprise some great mage to figure the tree had magical properties which is how a Sheep herder from the sticks had a working staff.

Eyes moved quickly behind a pair of half moon shaped glasses, his staff pointed forward and a spell on his lips. First, he checked the down man to make sure he wasn't just faking. Luckily the man was breathing but was unconcise. Next he had to deal with the horde of students who came flooding down the hall, pushing him back against the wall. But from their numbers came a unexpected person, a woman tripped and landed on the ground in front of him, the gentleman he was raised to be moved quickly to help her up when two men came around the corner each holding a staff.

Azazel grabbed the woman and pulled her behind a wall as the two cast spells of light. While protected by the wall, some of him was covering the woman and the spell hit the back of his borg causing it to shatter leaving him without. Great, two mages with more knowledge than him and his borg was broken. He knew he didn't have a spell that could break their borgs and harm them so instead he went with a different plan. As it was just the four of them now, he leaned out from behind the wall aiming his staff. " "Firaga Wallia" A two meter high wall of flames that went from one side of the hallway to the other sprang to life, blocking their view and holding them back with roaring fire.

Azazel turned to the woman he had helped. "Excuse me Miss, this isn't a safe place. Can you run and grab a teacher while I hold them off? Would be much obliged." Request given he turned back to his spell, hoping the natural fear of fire most man had would keep them from stepping through and realizing they could beat it.

"Ugh... thank you." Noir said to the man who helped her getting up, she could feel the pain from both of her arms, the result of trying to hold herself from falling. "Huh? Oh!" She gasped as the man grabbed her and pulled her behind a wall with him, surprised when he did that. The man protected her as well from the attack and it caused his borg to be broken, it made Noir frown though... she couldnt be the one being protected. The golden eyed girl saw how the man created a fire wall, a fine spell indeed, but it was not the time to be fascinated by other person's spells, she cursed herself for being a magic nerd in the wrong moment.

"I apologize, but it will be useless to run in this kind of situation." The magician grabbed the man's shoulder as she stared at him without no expression while pointing towards the other running students, "Besides, the teacher already now about this. But we dont have time to wait for them." She would step out, no longer hiding behind the wall.

"I am so going to teach them a lesson." She murmured to herself, although it would still be audible for the man to hear. Well, she had nothing personal towards those attackers, but she just felt responsible for actually wishing something like this to happen. With a sigh, she pointed her staff at 3 of the attackers who were grouping up and produced a 5 meters cone shaped sound wave, managed to subdue them by using the ear piercing screech. Noir would then saw another student, who smelled like trouble, was going to launch an attack. She could see the anger on the attacker's face, possibly enraged because Noir managed to knock off some of them. The moment that attacker launched his attack towards the man who helped her, the magician ran towards the man and shielded him with her borg. The beam of concentrated light only managed to give a slight crack on Noir's borg and the attacker, getting angrier, used his Just Light skill and still, only added another crack on the girl's borg.

"Fulmine Coccio." The golden eyed girl whispered her spell's name while pointing her staff towards the attacker, sending 2 small shards of lightning that instantly electrocuting the trouble student. "We are done here, let's go find the other. I heard that there's 7 of them... there should be 3 left for now." She said, didnt notice that the man had actually taken care 1 more by himself, leaving them with only 2 more enemies to be dealt with.

"Your welcome" He said as he helped the girl up before pulling her behind the wall to protect her. His chivalrous spirit had kicked in to protect another person from being attacked. Next his firewall was meant to by them time to escape but it seemed the woman had another idea. He listened as she spoke about the teachers already knowing but she decided to take matters into her own hands and deal with the people who decided to attack the school. Azazel watched in amazement as the woman single handedly took down three magicians with a single spell. Man, this woman was packing.

He whipped around as another man came around the corner, his staff came up, knowing he was without his borg he was in real danger. However it seemed the woman had her own protective instincts as she dove between them, Azazel was worried until he noticed that her borg barely cracked from being attacked. Another attack hit her borg and it barely cracked again. The young mage watched in awe at her defenses held up from back to back attacks from the magician, Azazel couldn't handle one of those blasts without his borg shattering and that was just the outer fringes of his borg being hit.

His own staff aimed but before he could get launched off the young woman released her own spell, sending two shards of lightning down the hall, breaking the mans borg and dropping him at the same time. "Wow, you are amazing! I am Azazel, it's a pleasure to meet someone as powerful you." He looked around at the bodies slumped all over the hallway and shook his head in amazement. She took down four people without breaking a sweat, he barely took down one and got his borg shattered!

He cleared his throat as he fixed his glasses on his nose. "Actually I took down one earlier so if there were seven attackers than only two remain, do you have any idea as to why they are attacking people or is this just some wild group that does this occasionally?" He really hoped it was the former as he didn't want to have to constantly wonder the halls fighting fellow mages and protecting damsels in distress who by her actions was much more powerful and knowledgeable in magic than he was. Not that he didn't mind others being stronger than him, it just showed how much he had to grow and the things he had to learn. He just had to work hard and see just how far he could get.

"So, should we split up or stay together? We could cover more ground if we split up but the other two may be working together or they could have split up as well. My borg should be reforming shortly and my magoi is back to full strength so I should be able to launch my double fire arrow. I can take one out with my fire arrow but I don't have any other spell that can break a borg on the first shot. You don't seem to have that problem." Azazel rubbed his head realizing he was talking a lot. He did that when he was nervous.

The female magician was surprised to heat the man saying she was amazing... well there was a lot more people who would be more amazing than her actually. Shousui would be so quick to deal with this matter, even... her past mentors, Adrastos and Yakuroro would be so quick in handling this and without mercy. "It is a pleasure to meet you as well, Mr. Azazel. My name is Noir Ecryola." She would tilt her head a little bit to the side as she stared towards the man with her golden eyes, as if trying to peer into his soul with her expressionless face. "You are powerful as well, Mr. Azazel. You took down one of them after all." Noir would bow towards him before saying her gratitude, "I haven't thanked you properly though. I am grateful for what you did earlier." She was referring to the moment when he protected her with his borg, but she felt a little bit sorry for him because his borg was now broken and it would take time to replenish again.

"Also... to answer your question. I heard they attacked people because they want to prove that they are not a group of failures. Although for me, that reason seemed foolish... However, you dont have to worry, Mr. Azazel. This kind of things happened rarely." Noir could only hope that the man wouldn't doubt the system in the academy just because of this matter, well, assuming he was a new student in Magnostadt Academy although Noir herself wasn't too sure about it. "Oh... I said that because I assumed you are a new student... I apologize if that sounded rude." The magician would bow again, afraid if being rude with her assumption.

The man rubbed his head as he talked to her, but Noir couldn't really tell if he was being nervous or if there was anything else. "As a precaution, let's stay together. There's no guarantee they will attack you before your borg finished reforming if we split... and we would want to avoid that."

If the man agreed to her plan, then Noir began to walk again, starting her search for the trouble students. The academy was not as crowded as before though, so looking for her target should be easier now. But the problem would be... how will they find those 2 remaining in this massive area... It would be good if they had a tracking magic, but Noir was not really interested with that and she thought there was no need to learn it, well, she kind of regretted her choice at the moment. But it seemed that the Fate was on their side, they didnt really need to find the rest of the enemies by themselves.

The enemy suddenly appeared in front of them and beamed their Heaven's Answer skill, but Noir would be pointed her staff swiftly before she used her Mille Spada skill and scaled it once to create 8 sword shaped blurry waves. 4 of the swords would be clashing into the beam of lights and the remaining four will be going towards the enemy, giving him a B-tier damage and knocking him out.

Azazel should be able to see the last remaining enemy not too far from the one Noir just defeated, but the black haired girl would say to the man, "All yours, Mr. Azazel." She would see what the man would do to the last remaining enemy, curious about how he will use his magic. Although it might be just a stereotype, but this man didn't really look like a fire magician if she judged based on personality, however Noir sure she was just judging too quickly. Not to mention that as someone who had the most affinity to Lightning magic, Noir's personality didn't really fit the Lightning theme... well, maybe? But instead of thinking too much about it, she would observe closely about what Azazel would do.

Azazel gave a slight bow when the woman introduced herself as his mother told him he should when a lady introduces herself. "It is my upmost pleasure to have your name, Lady Ecryola." He gazed at her with a smile while she returned with a less expressionless gaze, he felt his cheeks turn red when she said he was powerful. A simple overstatement, he was a beginner, yes he had one strong spell but only one. He felt this young woman had a arsenal of spells she could use to bring any number of these hooligans down. But it wasn't fair to compare himself to her, he was a farm boy from the sticks with no formal training, he knew only the most basic of magic and it was why he had come here.

He waved away his act of heroism, it seemed foolish now in hindsight as he doubted the woman would have been injured or even scratched by the spell. It was just instinct to protect another that he had done so. In fact he hadn't even made a concise thought to do so, he just acted without his brains permission. Surely such a act could not be counted as heroic. Many would call it foolish, jumping into the fray like that with no knowledge. But in his mind the woman had been in danger, he had not known of her capabilities. He felt a sense of relief wash over him as she announced that no, this was not a normal thing. Simply underachievers looking to gain power through force. Such barbaric and phyllostine ways.

He smiled, showing a pearly white grin. "Actually yes, I am new here. In fact, I just signed up this morning. I was on my way to orientation into magical theory when I came across these hooligans. As you said I dealt with one while you have dealt with five, not exactly carrying my weight here." He shrugged it off, it didn't matter. The girl was stronger than him, probably had tutors and spent years here at the academy learning everything one needed to know about the magical arts. She seemed to have a grasp of the situation quickly which meant she was smart, maybe even extremely intelligent. Meanwhile, he could barely read and write let alone memorize thousands of tomes and books. He had his own obstacles as he was sure she had once upon a time. It was to face those obstacles and succeed that made you a great Magician.

He nodded to her proposal that they stay together, it would seem she was more worried about his lack of defenses rather than finding the failures. Maybe there were a lot of powerful mages running around here, the teachers obviously but other students as well. It was highly possible and more likely that the failures were attacking low level magicians because they were scared to face the stronger ones. Made sense, weaklings tended to avoid the strong, those that roar the loudest are the weakest after all. A saying of his father when facing a beast that roared in the hopes of scaring away farmers and shepherds so it could attack the weaker flock. A simple yell back sent them scurrying off into the forest. So, accepting her words he followed her as she knew the layout of the school better than he. It was less likely they would go to the higher floors as that was probably where the stronger students were located. "By deduction I am theorizing that they did not leave this floor. To go up is to face stronger magicians, possibly a teacher itself. As this is the entrance they can't leave, and if there is a lower floor it's probably sealed by powerful magic. They are here somewhere, on this floor."

Azazel reacted by moving quickly behind Lady Ecryola's Borg, no different than a wall or a shield as her Borg was much stronger and his had yet to fully reform. A moot point as her attack decimated theirs and defeated one of the mages. Her words urged him on and he rolled out from behind her Borg, his Shepherds crook aimed at the final enemy. A pair of flaming arrows appeared at the end of his staff and rocketed down the hall. The first arrow shattered the man's borg, the second arrow was only a half inch behind the other as to keep the man from dodging and to keep two arrows from hitting the borg at the same moment. The arrow took the man mid chest, throwing him back against the wall with the force and penetration of the flaming arrow. Azazel stood and gazed upon the man with concern. He was relieved to see the man still breathing, he may be a cowardly scum bag but he was still a magician and a human. They had done more damage to the school rather than the students and for that and that alone, Azazel spared his life. That and it was not good to show he had a killer instinct on the first day at the Academy.

He turned to his fellow Magician and bowed at the waist. "It would seem we have bested the foes at the gates, Lady Ecryola. What should we do with them now?" He didn't know if the school had a dungeon or if there was a magical police force here. Expulsion was probably on the menu for mages who organize together to inflict terror on fellow students. The penalty for doing so may even be harsher than times in the cells. But that was beyond his worry now, he had done well to hold himself in battle beside a powerful magician, had taken down two of the blighters himself and possibly made a powerful ally and friend. Maybe even one that on occasion when stuck could give him a guiding light. Not the answer, oh no! Azazel liked to learn and figure for himself. But nothing wrong with a professor or tutor nudging someone in the right direction. But for now, this at least seemed finished.

It was quite a show, a beautiful performance shown by Azazel with his fire magic. Noir loved looking at how he was good at controlling his own magic, thinking that perhaps, if he wanted to learn more magic type, it would be good if can also learn light magic... well because, why not? The magician just thought that it would be really a good combination for the man. The black haired noticed how Azazel was calling her and she wasn't really fond of it, she was not a lady, not even a noble. "Mr. Azazel, please just call me Noir. I am only an ordinary student in the magic academy." Her golden eyes would scan towards the scattered enemies, before letting out a sigh. "Probably we can just tie them up and bring them to the teacher's office, can you please help me?"

If the man agreed to help her, then she would start dragging the students to one place before using her group gravity lift magic so she could easily bring them to the teacher's office. Who knew what kind of judgement these rebels would meet, but Noir would just let those adults to do their job so she could quickly go back to the dorm... to get some sleep.

"Well, thank you for your assistance, Mr. Azazel." Noir would say towards the man, bowing her head slightly to show her gratitude.
