[THE SETTING SUN]
Summary
In the far east, the bright Orient blazes lilac with festivities; the quiet land of Kina has opened its borders to the outside world.
Kina has announced the Kambutsu festival, a brilliant bicentennial event wherein foreign travellers are welcomed into their ports to celebrate the local produce. But underneath the bright light of these fireworks, there is something more than just barrels of sweet sake brewing; an age-old struggle between those Clans who oversee Kina’s verdant lands is boiling over. Should Kina place itself upon the world’s stage or remain hidden in the wings?
The six Clans are coming together for an urgent summit to discuss their stance on Kina’s current ‘no interference’ foreign policy. These summits happen every five years but called earlier if there is a majority vote between the Clans, which has been done this time owing to the recent troubles in Kou. The Hinamoto controls the political capital of Kina and acts as the overseer of the summits between the clans, abiding strictly by their neutral stance. The other Clans are strongly divided between their isolationist traditions versus a want for open borders. Thus, they harbour ulterior motives for this festival; they wish to employ foreign mercenaries for jobs against their rival Clans.
Kina’s future lies in the hands of those warriors who help the Clans. But how will they shape it once it is held in their strong fingers? Will Kina fade back into the hazy mists of obscurity; will it emerge as a new economic stronghouse; will it shed its peaceful skin and emerge a militaristic superpower?
Acts
[First Act: The Blazing Sky Aches]
The nation of Kina has opened up, ending their drawn-out seclusion and inviting foreigners to join them in their summer celebration. The Kambutsu festival is a national holiday that celebrates their ancestors and the spirits which the people of Kina revere. But do not be fooled by the beautiful landscapes and its wondrous festivities, they are hiding something much deeper. The Clan leaders which rule the lands have called you for more than celebration - for power and conquest. Pick a side, enjoy the festival and the countryside, or work on jobs to help push things in favor of the Clan you support!
This Act will last approximately 6 weeks, with an update every week. Every 2 weeks, a Clan will be dropped or severely weakened based on your efforts. Act One will be divided into three Rounds:
Round One
The first Round consists of three elements - the Festival, the Welcome and Initiation jobs. The Festival will be a Kina-wide social thread, open to everyone throughout Act One. The Welcome will also be open to everyone throughout Act One, allowing uncertain players to interact with the Clan leaders. This announcement thread will be an accompanying OOC thread where players will announce, change or drop affiliation with a Clan in this thread - do note that players must make their choice and post it here before the end of Round Three. Initiation jobs are also available for anyone who wishes to pledge loyalty to a Clan, receiving the indicated rewards once the chain is completed. There will also be a plot thread with regular updates throughout Act One.
Round One Results
The final standings of the Clans from Round One are as follows:
- the Kogata, first
- the Morihana, second
- the Hinamoto, third
- the Shikizui, fourth
- the Kazeharu, fifth
- the Toh, sixth
The subsequent tensions have resulted in the Clans beginning to form alliances, with the current ones being:
- the Morihana, the Kazeharu and the Toh
- the Hinamoto and the Shikizui
- the Kogata
Round Two
The second Round adds two more elements - Sabotage jobs and Strengthening jobs. Sabotage jobs are staff-issued jobs which will allow players to either severely weaken another Clan or begin convincing one into an alliance with theirs. These jobs have two unique conditions: they are one-time only and they have two objectives. However, players may only complete one objective, not both of them, thus they must choose wisely. Strengthening jobs may be made by any player, much as a normal job, with objectives that relate towards either defending their Clan’s encampments or attacking those belonging to another Clan’s - bear in mind, players may not attack encampments belonging to an allied Clan. These jobs must be set in the Mt. Raiji board and tagged as a Strengthening job. The actions players take in these jobs will be referenced in weekly plot updates.
Round Two Results
The final standings of the Clans from Round Two are as follows:
- the Kogata, first
- the Hinamoto, second
- the Morihana, third
- the Shikizui, fourth
- the Toh, fifth
- the Kazeharu, sixth
The recent conflicts have resulted in the Clans forming new alliances, with the current ones being:
- the Morihana, the Hinamoto and the Shikizui
- the Kogata, the Kazeharu and the Toh
Round Three
The third Round builds upon the previous elements, introducing no new ones. However, there will be some amendments made that may turn these elements upside-down. The alliances between Clans will change every week, whether players impact them or not, but players’ actions will have the largest say in how they form. There will be additional Sabotage jobs released each week to supplement these changes, but players should try to finish them as quickly as they can so that they may influence the Clan alliances. These two weeks will also be the final chance for players to ally themselves with a Clan, as Initiation jobs and Sabotage jobs will be closed once Act Two begins. But remember - players must be allied or affiliated with a Clan to participate in Act Two. Therefore, players should ensure that they pay close attention to both the date and the weekly plot updates, as there may be small details that hint towards future plot.

[Second Act: A Room Filled with Demons]
With the power struggle between Kina’s clans having reached a tipping point, the Hinamoto clan has finally called together the Summit between the six great Clans. As blades are traded for pens, the sinister happenings beneath Kina’s surface begin to crawl out of the ground and into the night. Be aware that only those involved in helping the Clans and their daimyo will be able to accompany them to the Summit.
This Act will last 4 weeks with people being able to continue jobs, plots, and interactions involving the event for 2 weeks after the events end.
Rewards
