With just a sword, a magic crossbow, and a long spool of string in his possession - Zadi felt ready for anything fate might decide to throw his way. Having crushed his final Shard of Solomon far away in Kou within a swampy battlefield, the blonde warrior felt a sense of stability as per his wish. Was this sense of stability due to the familiarity of the coliseum or artificially implanted into Zadi using magic dust?

Doesn't matter - I am where I belong...at least for now.

Wearing his signature, pink kimono - the blonde warrior entered the coliseum to see his competition. As per usual, Zadi did not make himself aware of information concerning his opponent. What little information he did know was former competitors had been killed by a newcomer named Caelus, so perhaps Zadi could avenge the fallen warriors slain too soon. However, vengeance leads to instability so Zadi was just disheartened someone was willing to kill their opponent when the need was almost always unnecessary.

At least within the context of this coliseum. Oh well, time to find out if I'm supposed to die here, too~

Cheers for bloodshed rang from around Zadi, as expected. Inspired by these terribly familiar sounds, the blonde notched a bolt into his crossbow, Hunter's Spirit, held in his left hand. Requiring two hands to arm the crossbow, a sheathe on Zadi's left hip held the newly forged sword, Wander Slayer, an homage to his previous, non-magical sword. The spool for Guts the String was not a traditional spool made of wood this time - Zadi instead used his left forearm as the spool, loosely keeping the string in place using a couple, light knots.

All things considered - Guts is the only weapons I have any actual confidence in; I wouldn't be here if not for magoi manipulation as a crutch.

"Hehe..."

A light chuckle later, Zadi was 15 meters into the coliseum, waiting for his opponent to enter from the other side...or maybe the same side? One never knows what might happen once fate flows against a rock in a stream.

Ever since fighting Caelus in the mountains, Zion couldn't deny that he had gained some interest int the so called coliseum. At first he wondered how there could be greatness in a blind pursuit of fame. But the goi warrior had proven to him that people were capable of extraordinary things and that being a magician did not mean he was all-powerful.

After arriving in Reim, Zion began to wonder if Caelus was just a special case or if all warriors in the coloseum were just as strong and capable. This spurred the young doll into signing up for a match. At first he only entertained the idea on a whim thinking it would be impossible without exposing his identity, so Zion took to watching some fights instead. That was how he had learned from watching another fighter that it was possible to hide your name and face.

Signing up was simple. They didn't care who Zion was, only what he wished to be called and to sign a waiver acknowledging that it was his own choice to put his life on the line. The weight of such risks had yet to really land on the magician's shoulders however as he signed without hesitation and proceeded to the preparation room. Zion had come prepared and was already wrapped up head to toe. It was stuffy and he looked like a mummy cosplaying as a ghost, but at least no one would recognize him this way.

Bandages covered everything except for a few rogue silver hairs sticking out and Zion's clear blue eyes which remained uncovered. A white cloak was draped around him and the two weapons fastened to his back which were both fully wrapped in cloth as well. The only weapon visible was a crystalline longsword which Zion held in his hands awkwardly. It was clear from how he rested its weight against himself and held it in an uncomfortable grip that he was an amateur swordsman.

Eventually it was time for the match and Zion slowly made his way likewise 15 meters into the arena before stopping to look around. His opponent was still quite some distance away so Zion let his eyes drift across the crowd. The cheers were deafening and were crashing down on Zion like the waves of an angry ocean. The green rukh present were wild from all the shouting and Zion winced in irritation.

"What's there to love about this?"

Zion thought to himself as he found the cacophony to be somewhat unpleasant. The appeal of living as a gladiator still escaped the doll's understanding. He began to question if it was because he was not a "proper human" or if it was simply a difference of cultures. But Zion saw no reason to take so much joy and entertainment over two people struggling for their lives.

Shaking his head softly, the silver haired magician took a deep breath and began walking forward towards the center of the battlefield to meet his opponent. This was his first time participating in a match so he wasn't fully sure what to do, but after watching a few he knew that he was supposed to fight. Unfortunately, he was unlearned in ways of the sword despite choosing it as his primary weapon for this fight. "I guess I just...swing it, right?" The youth assured himself as he swallowed down a mouthful of doubts. It was too late to turn back and there was no better way to understand a human warrior than to try and live in the shoes of one.

Assuming Zadi made no offensive actions and also approached the center of the arena, Zion was call out to him once the distance between them closed to 10m. "Um...Hi there! It's my first time doing something like this. Please take good care of me!" Zion gave a nervous but very polite greeting and bowed deeply to his opponent before standing upright and shouting.

"Here goes nothing....AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!!"

The usually soft spoken and polite Zion's battlecry was less of a roar and more of a meow as he charged forward and raised the longsword. His athletic prowess, or rather lack thereof, was on full display as he slowly ran towards Zadi finding even the 10m gap to be a long and painful charge. By the time he reached the halfway point, he had already stopped shouting. Opting instead to huff and puff for air to carry him the rest of the way. "Take this!" Zion would blurt out as he slashed downwards with the crystal longsword before he was even within proper range. If Zadi just stood there the blades edge would only come within a few centimeters of even touching him before cutting pointlessly into the sand.

The blonde swordsman's opponent, Zion, entered the coliseum from the opposite end. Nothing special came from the mouth of the bandaged and white-cloaked individual, at least not initially. As per usual, Zadi was attempting to figure out what to do in order to remain a step ahead of his opponent, but nothing seemed to come of standing around waiting many tens of meters away. Feeling a bit anxious, too, the kimono-wearing Zadi felt compelled to meet his opponent halfway, 10 meters apart. The kimono wearer had to hustle a little to make up for his hesitation, but without a hitch Zadi and Zion met in the middle of the coliseum.

Upon closer inspection, Zadi noticed the obvious bandages from head to toe, including the white cloak obscuring specific details. The blonde swordsman's eyes then noticed the bandaged items on Zion's back followed by a quick gaze upon the openly visible longsword. The longsword stood out among the white cloak and bandages simply for being visible, but a strange purple decoration literally stuck out from the blade. If not for decoration, the purple protrusion was likely a source of magical power. If not for the situation, Zadi would definitely want a closer took in case of a magic circle or inscription. Instead, the kimono swordsman listened to Zion's curious introduction. There was obvious naivety which Zadi felt skeptical of, so the blonde swordsman only responded with an awkward smile laced with confusion and a right hand slowly reaching for the hilt of his sword, Wander Slayer.

Perhaps the name of this sword is prophetic, hehe.

Zadi's bandaged opponent then let out a some more choice words proceeded by a battle cry. The blonde swordsman half panicked and used his Nimble Fingers to quickly unsheathe Wander Slayer, but his opponent was slower than Zadi expected; Zion covering the 10 meter distance from Zadi with nonathletic enthusiasm, nearly lowering Zadi's guard. However, Zadi knew the coliseum organizers would not intentionally match a beginner with a veteran...intentionally.

Not knowing what else to do, Zadi would attempt to remain vigilant while attempting to hit Zion's sword off the intended, though oddly shallow, trajectory using B-tier strength. If nothing special happened, Zion's sword swing would land to Zadi's right side in the sand, Wander Slayer between Zadi and the crystal sword. Granted, if Zion's sword swing was as weak as Zadi felt, perhaps something extra might happen instead.

Anyway, Zadi would only swat away the sword swing. Confusion and skepticism were clear on Zadi's face as the blonde swordsman attempted to ponder the situation; Zadi felt as if his opponent's awkward nature had somehow transferred to Zadi through the crystal-decorated sword.

Does such magic exist!?

The pure and earnest strike was predictably defended against with ease, but this did little to hamper Zion's enthusiasm as he lacked much confidence in his swordsmanship in the first place. As the crystal longsword was deflected to his left, Zion grit his teeth and planted his feet as he hefted the longsword out of the sand and raised it for another swing. Stepping to his right, Zion would slash horizontally and move a halfstep forward bringing the tip of Zion's six foot blade into striking range. Alas, the physical strength Zion possessed and his lack of skill with the weapon made it difficult for his blows to reach their full potential. There was no shortage of wasted movements and there wasn't much speed or power behind the strikes.

Assuming Zadi would be able to hand the slash, Zion took in a deep breath and followed it up with two more basic attacks as fast as he could manage. Following the horizontal slash to the right, Zion performed another horizontal slash to the left which was proceeded with an overhead slash aiming to cut downwards across the warrior's chest. A simple three hit combination of sword slashes. In the hands of an amateur such as Zion it was far from an impressive display, but it showed the youth's innocent sincerity in trying to discover for himself what it was that had allowed Caelus to reach such greatness.

All the while, the magician was critiquing himself harshly in his inner thoughts as he was painfully self aware of all the ways his movements were lacking when compared to The Revenant. It was expected, but Zion still began to feel frustration towards himself mounting with each action. His opponent's expression had not escaped his notice after all and it looked as if the man were unsure whether to laugh or to cry at Zion's efforts to play the part of swordsman. Regardless, Zion would give the gladiator everything he had for the sake of experiencing the "greatness" of the coliseum first hand. Thoughts of embarrassment and failure were pushed aside for now.

The first, parried strike from the nameless opponent, Zion, who's registered coliseum name Zadi didn't know either, allowed the blonde swordsman to discern the quality of the crystal-decorated sword. A fine quality equal to Zadi's own sword, Wander Slayer. From experience, a weapon's wielder tended to be of somewhat equal quality but the swordsmanship of Zion created doubts within the pink kimono-wearing Zadi. Speaking of clothing, Zadi wondered why his opponent wore full-body bandages; there could be any number of odd reasons for wearing bandages, but the obvious answer was to hide something.

If the bandages were meant to hide the identify of not only Zion but also Zion's hidden weapons, then perhaps Zadi was dealing with a secret nobleman or criminal. Many possible options but simply the idea of hiding something increased Zadi's confusion and skepticism. The blonde warrior normally preferred surprising himself by keeping his opponent and their skills a mystery up until the battle begins, but the amount of information Zadi felt he lacked started to increase too much. However, the next two, horizontal strikes from his opponent gave Zadi a feeling of being used.

Stepping backwards of the first strike, just out of reach of Zion's longsword, Zadi felt compelled to speak up about the situation he felt he was in, "I don't wanna sound rude, but-" The second horizontal strike mirrored the previous, allowing Zadi time to sheathe his sword and duck underneath the longsword. Before finishing his little speech, Zadi thought for a second; the swings from Zion were terrible and left many openings for Zadi to take advantage of. Zadi's opponent also didn't seem athletic enough to wield a longsword either, especially one of such fine quality. However, instead of finishing his sentence with disdain or frustration, "You could improve your edge-alignment by twisting your torso."

The blonde swordsman's arrogant-sounding words came just in time for Zadi to right-sidestep an overhead swing from Zion's longsword. Despite sounding arrogant, Zadi was instead conceding to this feeling of being used; now wanting to aid Zion in becoming a better swordsman, Zadi kept his eyes peeled on Zion's body movements for chances to critic. Not that Zadi hadn't been doing the same earlier, but now the blonde's eyes were less confused than laser-focused.

With a cheeky smile on his face, the ever naive Zadi continued speaking to his opponent, "If you're not too scared by my cockiness, then allow me to teach you the thrill of beautiful swordplay~"

The gladiator's words didn't bring pause to Zion's actions, but once the magician had completed them with out any effective results, he had to admit that his combination attacks were hardly more effective than his single attacks. From the effortlessness of his opponent's dodging and the light panting the magician couldn't suppress, it was clear that Zion had no chance if he kept up the swordsman act. Zadi's advice caused Zion's brow to furrow visibly as he hopped back a step to put some distance between them before he responded. "I know that!" Irritation in the tone of his voice precisely because Zion was already self aware that he wasn't using his muscles properly. But this was all new to the doll and though his mind knew the theory, his body wasn't fully sure how to string it all together effectively yet.

Though the magician shot back in irritation, after a brief pause his eyes shined and he spoke with a more polite voice to show that his frustration did not run deep and wasn't aimed at Zadi in particular. "I used to not think much of you gladiators. I'm not sure if you and Mr. Revenant are just exceptions, but it looks like I was wrong about you warrior types." Even from behind the bandages it would be clear that the "young man" was smiling wholeheartedly. Whether Zadi meant it or not, his words gave a lot of encouragement to Zion whom began to forget about the fact that countless eyes were upon them.

"I apologize for my rude response, and thank you for your advice...but I plan to win using my own way!"

Resolve shined in Zion's spirit as he faced Zadi holding the longsword firmly in both hands as he took his amateur stance. There were some minor refinements this time that showed Zion was experimenting. His stance was lower and closer to his center of gravity and his blade was more prepared to actually parry or defend than before. But it was still just a cheap imitation of a stance he'd seen Caelus take and there was still no shortage of flaws and openings. Thankfully, the foxdoll didn't plan on giving up the initiative so he did not linger passively after assuming his combat pose. Leaping into the air, Zion raised the Longsword for an overhead slash and let out another battle cry.

"Haaaaaa!"

But it was the same mistake as before. Due to his hop backwards earlier, Zion was now outside of proper striking distance and his leap didn't carry much forward momentum opting for height over distance. Only this time, it wasn't a mistake. Zion was stubborn, but he knew when he was outclassed and travel expenses weren't cheap. It was obvious that a loss would be the only thing he could look forward to when competing in weaponry skills. Zion had resolved himself to using magic in order to secure a win and earn the prize money for the match. He was also curious to see if this warrior was as strong as Caelus had been. The matches Zion watched before were disappointing, but Zadi seemed like someone who was similar to the Revenant and thus deserved to be faced earnestly and without holding back.

Peaking out at a height of 2m off the ground, Zion shouted out in warning to Zion giving him a hint that the fight was about to take a drastic turn. "I admit you're strong mister, so was Mr. Revenant!" The words almost seemed to imply that Zion had once defeated a champion of the coliseum and the very person which had been on Zadi's mind earlier! An audacious claim with only half truths to its merit, but one which Zion declared honestly and with just enough restraint so that only Zadi could hear the words but at maximum volume possible.

As Zion began to descend he grinned beneath the bandages and began to slash downwards with the crystal blade. Despite the bold claims made he appeared to be making a fool of himself as he descended half a meter still poised to harmlessly cut the air just in front of Zadi before landing in front of him, sword buried in the sand once more. But then he suddenly turned his wrists and rotated the sword so that its flat face swung down rather than it's edge. At the same time, magoi surged from Zion's hands and into the Amethyst Longsword activating its Crystaline Crusade function. The shining light of a magic circle sprung to life as the crystal grew forming into a massive bastard sword 5m in length and 1m in width.

Instead of a narrow edge, a one meter wide plane was crashing down overhead of Zadi making it more difficult to evade horizontally than a normal sword slash. But this giant blade slap was only meant to disguise Zion's next actions as his right hand let go of the blade the instant he finished providing it magoi. Zion's hand shot first towards the Dream Infiltrator at his back and reached for the trigger through the bandages to unleash a Nightmare Bullet. The rifle let out a bang as a black writhing projectile sped towards the sands below. His hand then immediately let go of the rifle and moved to draw his staff.

Zion would intentionally let go of his sword as he landed and drew his Nature's Scepter from his back. At the same time, eight dog-sized demon-like puppets emerged from the ground. They resembled wooden dolls that had been given fangs and claws and then corrupted into shadow. Wisps of darkness radiated from the nightmares as they surrounded Zion defensively and glared ominously in Zadi's direction as they eagerly stalked back and forth. The magician was still disguised in bandages and his weapons were likewise bound in cloth. But at this point his true nature was surely revealed and the mystery behind his amateur swordsmanship resolved. He stood there confidently watching as his the excess crystal on the longsword shattered into dust which then dissolved into nothing as the magoi feeding it was cut. The blade itself then fell to the floor marking the end of the deception that Zion had been a warrior.

Zion seemed irked by Zadi's teachings - completely understandable to the arrogant, blonde swordsman. Granted, there's a fine line between arrogance and confidence, a line which will begin to blur soon enough. However, for the time being, Zadi just listened to his opponent speaking and kept his eyes peeled.

Mr. Revenant? I feel like I should know him, simply for the sake of this battle - though my opponent could be bluffing, too.

Having danced around Zion's sword swings, perhaps Zadi caused Zion to feel the need to bluff a victory against an important, named person. Having never heard of a 'Mr. Revenant', Zadi felt some unease nonetheless, but words can only sway so much during a heated battle. Anyway, Zadi didn't know how to respond, especially when Zion made another sword swing which was obviously not going to reach the blonde swordsman.

Compelled to correct the terrible swordsmanship, "You should get close-!?"

Unfortunately, Zion's true fighting style came towards Zadi as a large, crystalline blade; the magic-created blade was angled flat-side towards Zadi, one meter across, much harder to avoid than normal. Thankfully Zadi was able to sidestep like a crab to his left with the help of his trained speed, three meters, putting the blonde out of reach of the massive, crystal blade.

Meanwhile, the magic weapon from which the crystalline blade came forth was dropped in favor of a magic staff by Zadi's shifty opponent. Seemingly out of danger, Zadi quickly turned his focus to Zion whom Zadi saw cast a morbid magic, summoning eight doll-like entities. A wide glance at the situation gave the blonde swordsman a few, key points to contemplate.

The longsword must have been the source of the giant blade - dropping the sword caused the created blade to disappear after all. The summoned creatures are likely my opponent's own power at play...as a magician. Then what does the final, bandaged item on his back do?

The long item still hidden within bandages both worried and interested Zadi. Perhaps the final item was just another staff considering the elongated shape, but there was nothing Zadi could do about the mysterious item. Instead, the blonde just focused on quickly aiming the wooden crossbow in his left arm and firing a basic bolt. The simple bolt was aimed for Zion's torso, the easiest target to hit at the moment; having done nothing but defend and dodge didn't feel like the right strategy anymore, especially against a magician.

Having fired a basic bolt, Zadi used his extra Nimble Fingers to reach for the quiver of bolts hidden on his lower back within his pink kimono. However, no bolt was picked just yet - Zadi needed to see what would happen first.

Excitement gleamed in Zion's eyes as he waved his staff through the air as he whispered softly to the nightmares surrounding him. "Go..." The various puppet-like abominations all quivered makings otherworldly noises as they began to move out.  One of them leaped into the air and collided with the bolt Zadi had fired only to catch the projectile in its sharp mouth. With a horrifying crunch, the nightmare devoured it whole just as it landed and joined its brothers in the chargw. Seeing that his creations were on the attack Zion closed in behind them, sprinting much more efficiently now that the unwieldy longsword had been discarded. His smile was visible even through the bandages as the magician rushed towards his opponent with seemingly reckless abandon.

The distance between them was crossed much faster by the nightmares as they shifted forward like shadows or smoke, their trajectories odd and unnatural. "Gigigigigigi!" The eight of them would appear before Zadi in three successive waves that arrived one after the other without delay. The first wave consisted of three nightmare-dolls, all of whom would dive forward looking to wrap their arms around Zadi's legs and gnaw at them like wild animals. The second wave of four nightmares all pounced and would target Zadi's torso and arms with similar goals to latch on and feast. Lastly the lone nightmare that had intercepted the bolt lagged behind, but attacked with no less ferociousness than its peers as it jumped in a high arc looking to grab onto the fighters face and eat it in the worst of ways.

At that point Zion would only have been able to proceed a few meters, but he chose the moment of the final nightmare's pounce to act as it would most obscure the man's view. Zion's next step was accompanied by a sudden burst of wind and sand was kicked up into a large cloud. Though one could call this "cheating" Zion had no qualms about using his Storm Kitsune powers in order to win. The power of storm propelled the magician forward with such speed that in a flash, Zion had approached within 3m of Zadi. "Buzz and..." A gust accompanied his arrival along with the shout as his staff tabbed the stock of the rifle at his back before being held forward to release a low buzzing tone. ...Inversing Buzz!" Zion then repeated the process again only this time he aimed his staff towards Zadi's center mass and released a small ball of green rukh.

The trickster fox's plan was childish and mischievous. Zion knew the nightmares were all bark and no bite and that they could never bring down a battle-hardened gladiator such as this, but they were just a distraction Zion used to force a closer proximity. The first spell he had cast was mainly to prevent Zadi from scuttling away like a crab as he had before, but it had the added bonus of throwing off his aim as well. The second spell was the true core of Zion's plan however as its effects would surely create confusion and require some adjustment to function under. At such point, Zion expected to be able to achieve a swift victory.

The simple bolt loosened by Zadi's crossbow, Hunter's Spirit, was just as simply devoured by one of eight, charging doll-like abominations. The shadowy entities moved in swiftly towards Zadi followed behind by their summoner, the fully bandaged Zion. Considering the number of enemies coming towards him, Zadi's right hand nimbly pulled forth a special bolt from his rear-mounted quiver. Zadi quickly notching the Fiery Bombardier onto Hunter's Spirit and fired at the ground just in front of the charging dolls. The resulting explosion was larger than a normal in order to ensure every shadowy abomination was caught and perhaps exterminated.

Knowing the specifics of the special bolt and his distance from the explosion, Zadi simultaneously prepared his hearing in order to overcome the visual obstruction caused by the resulting explosion. Of the many types of bolts at the blonde ranger's disposal, his Fiery Bombardier was the least stealthy; even Zadi's explosive landmine was more stealthy considering the mine could be prepared in advance. Granted, stealth was not on the table for Zadi at the moment - not only the eyes of the people but also his opponent were fixated on Zadi's every movement.

Speaking of my opponent, where is-

Assuming his opponent would be too slow to move around the explosion, Zadi was caught off guard by Zion's sudden approach. Having indeed used the visual obstruction of the explosion as an advantage, Zadi's opponent was able to surprisingly speed well within range of Zadi's enhanced hearing. Said speed shocked Zadi, allowing Zion to not only get three meters from the bewildered blonde but also use his Buzz spell.

The surprising speed of his once wimpy opponent was jarring to Zadi, but the Buzz spell worked beyond the initial shock, causing Zadi to fall backwards when he attempted to move away from Zion's now pointed staff. The blonde warrior tripped and fell, too jarred and confused to dodge the incoming orb of sound magic. Now both prone and feeling tingly, too dazed to keeping his hearing sharpened, Zadi would attempt to regain some combat momentum by driving his right hand into the ground but instead heard the clack of his crossbow kissing dirt.

Why am I moving my right arm!? That orb must have...

Finally realizing the tingling sensation didn't come from an unseen wound, Zadi felt helpless to whatever came next! Fear-like worrying caused the prone warrior to wish he hadn't underestimated his opponent and become startled enough to lose focus on his sharpened hearing and get hit my magic. Zadi also didn't know if the shadowy abominations survived the explosion or not! The mysteries of combat are able to be thrilling, but thrill is just another form of fear in the end.

The magician hadn't expected his opponent to suddenly bring out explosives. Zion was suddenly thankful that his ears were bandaged up as the sound of the blast made his head ring. The nightmares were collectively wiped out and the residual fire ball was directly in his path. As Zion passed through the flames his bandages became singed here and there and a flash of intense heat washed over him for an instant. He emerged on the other side slightly baked as a few small streams of smoke danced off of his form.

Once Zion arrived and cast his spells he was delighted to see that everything had gone according to his plans. Now that his opponent was on the backfoot, it was time to attack! The magician gently waved his wand before tapping the air a total of 8 times. Each time Zion tapped the air with his staff, he did so in a different direction almost as if he were orchestrating music.  The taps caused the air to condense and coalesce into small bullets which shot outwards in the direction of the tapping.

"Bullet Attract!"

Zion locked his eyes onto Zadi and held his ground 3m away as each bullet would curve its trajectory to track the prey within his sight. Though the bullets all seemed to be launched in random directions, their collective target was still the warrior in front of Zion. Two of the projectiles approached from Zadi's left, two on his right, one from three from above, and one final shot coming in from below flying just milimeters above the ground before arcing upwards.

"How's that? You ready to concede?"

Having unleashed his barrage of attacks, Zion paused and decided to give his opponent a chance to avoid further injuries. Though the doll wanted to win, he had no heart to seriously wound Zadi.

The tingling sensation wasn't leaving Zadi and the blonde didn't know how much longer the sensation was going to affect the prone warrior. Without much to do other than wiggle on the ground in an attempt to get up, Zadi looked towards his bandaged opponent - a magician much faster than anticipated. Zadi felt nearly unable to focus on his opponent because of the tingling sensation; the blonde warrior's sense's were reversed in direction, so any bodily movement was very difficult to feel. In an attempt to at least defend himself from whatever may come, Zadi remained as calm as possible and didn't move in order to remain balanced in body and mind. Thin layers of manipulated magoi manifested into armor around Zadi's limbs, all of them covered with some spare layers. Zadi couldn't do anything beyond defending himself considering the status afflicting his sense of direction.

Feeling ashamed for underestimating his opponent, Zadi remembered how his opponent had presented their fighting style in the first place - to trick me so effortlessly...maybe I shouldn't feel shame for underestimation but instead for not going all in from the beginning...

Somewhat evenly shifting the blame onto both parties helped Zadi remain collected and withstand the concussive bullets fired into his eight armor layers of magoi manipulation. His opponent spoke meanwhile, right to assume Zadi was at the disadvantage. Laying on the ground, though not defenseless, the blonde warrior kept still and waited for further abuse from his opponent, practically praying for the tingling sensation to leave. Zadi also hoped he wouldn't be disqualified for just laying on the ground.

"Still here...waiting..."

The triumphant attitude held by the young magician was replaced with surprise as the dust from his attacks cleared to reveal a glowing shield of magoi surrounding his opponent. "I thought most goi couldn't control their magoi, but it seems more common than the books would suggest." Zion thought to himself as he frowned beneath the bandages and considered his options. Rather than continuing the bombardment, he tapped his Nature's Scepter onto the ground sending magoi through the medium where its magic circle sprung to life with a brilliant golden glow. Purple rukh spread into the arena floor where microbes were rapidly grown into plants.

As Zadi lay there he would find that a junge had grown up around him with the roots of nearby trees spreading to cover his body along with thick vines. Zion stepped behind the trees and then leaped up into the canopy of the miniature jungle where he quickly maneuvered his way through the branches to circle around to Zadi's left side placing Zion 6m away and 5m off the ground. From this perch, Zion would have a clear line of sight through the trees to pull the Dream Infiltrator off his back and take aim using his staff as a rest by propping it against the tree trunk. From there Zion would pull the trigger and fire another nightmare bullet this time aiming for Zadi's upper torso as he made his escape from the jungle entanglement.

Zion watched from his perch atop jungle branches as his opponent continued to lay down on the ground motionless. The magoi barrier that had protected him seemed to fade as the unresponsive foe failed to continue channeling his magoi creating an opening for Zion's nightmare bullet to find its mark. The bullet itself caused no immediate harm, but a black manifestation of Zadi's own nightmares would emerge from the point of impact and loom over the floored fighter. Zion's brow furrowed beneath the bandages that covered his face. This was too easy, had the other fighter lost his will to battle? He watched in silence as the manifested nightmare being lashed out at Zadi's head violently.

The blow was vicious, but the force was blunted and not lethal. If Zadi were to suffer the blow it was likely to knock him out and bring this match to a close.

The time seemed to stretch on and yet much to Zion's bewilderment his opponent remained still as a stone. The disguised magician made a quizzical frown beneath the bandages wrapped around his face. The nightmare construct struck Zadi's skull with a gruesome crack and then faded into black wisps of netherworldly smoke. Zion then approached quietly and cautiously, dropping down from the tree branches to near his fallen foe on foot. It could have been an act after all. But as he neared Zadi and saw the man's eyes rolled back, consciousness having left him fully, it became apparent that this was indeed not a farce. "Really? I...I won?" The young magician muttered in confusion. This was far from the glory and greatness Caelus had told him he would find in the coliseum. Zion shook his head in disappointment and sighed as he bent down and grasped Zadi by the ankles. The victor dragged his opponent out of the cover of the jungle and into view of the crowd who were already feeling upset that the sudden growth of trees blocked their view of the violence. The revelation that the battle was not already over elicited no small amount of boos from the crowd. Zion left the coliseum a victor, but far from feeling victorious as the crowd hissed and heckled him for failing to give them a worth while show.
