This is the thread in general and I wanted to propose my thoughts and anyone else's in order to see where we are in regards to this. Personally, I think we should decline the use of the armor system at this point in time. To me, it's really unattractive and I was dreading the thought of it for quite some time as an implemented system to change the meta, as well as a system that can serve as an endgame scenario.

Huang is the only currency that's not rendered obsolete as of yet in the eyes of an omega, the experience is, and that's only until the point that we succeed to outbuy our omega tier options in fate's fortune and have to exp grind in order to purchase something.

Now the use of a universal currency for expensive armor gives us more things to invest money and time in, but especially money. We already have the faction system, a very detailed system that we have yet to explore to the fullest extent, believe me, I tried to poke the threshold. We have so many things available to us now that we don't even use, our very own rukh system that represents our alignment and that's supposed to come with specific effects are obsolete.

Nobody uses it, and anyone can make up some bullshit about how much Rukh they generated in order to meta the white rukh's "get out of jail free card" and avoid a death blow. Maybe we should have fixed this first or devote efforts in rehashing things that haven't been touched or utilized in a long time?

Even the revamp of the balbadd casino, the rewards are meaningless with fast travel because dropping 15k and avoiding a WC for a teleport is much easier than risking 10k for possibly nothing. Stamina potions no longer exist, it's a relic because back then we had only one bar, and we got 1/2 of that value back. In this day and age going by the wording it would represent both forms of energy, and 1/2 recovery of stam and magoi, not happening.

The money is always good and double exp, but we have ability vouchers too. You know, with the roulette we have, this is a great example to step the game up with the casino, it's also a "money guzzler" that does not affect the meta in such a way. You know how to make it "worth it", you've done so with the 4 threads a month for that roll ticket, and the rewards are worth it! Don't you think we can take the casino a little further as well?

All i'm saying is that we just might be investing our focus in the wrong things right now. This is not an attack on Vood or me disagreeing as an act of retaliation for him unnecessarily embarrassing me in front of the entire site. This is being said with the wellbeing of the site in mind, because I'm starting to unrecognize this place with the number of changes implemented and reverted. I honestly looked at that system and mouthed "idk if I can keep going with this in place", the system might have some few years 2?) but losing the cookie cutters was a big thing.

Now the freeform system is about to get flipped on its ass to possibly reflect the effect that armor has in regards to conflicts, and the stam drain is counterproductive when our strength tiers play no role in how we handle the weight.

Bonus note- I almost said yes when I saw Merrze's snow armor, but here is how I would have dumbed it down.

1- Give it the shield durability value and have the armor count as a full set.

2- Have an exclusive country armor to represent the country's affiliation. If you want to do something special with them sure. Magno could have some nice kevlar robes, I could care less about what it is.

3- They follow the same repair rules, since they now come as a set you aren's busting anyone's balls and making it too much of a hassle to maintain.

4- On "special occasion", shit like the snow armor appears. Yes, those will be the exception "magic armor".

Does this sound easy and simple to follow? Yes, it might not cater to body manipulation, but steel skin might be the best idea to give body manipulators an innate soak that they can take special baths to repair that they have to pay to take in the first place. Heck, this puts us all on equal footing if that's the case.

It was a bit of a rant, but this site is having a bit of trouble. People are joining and leaving, so let's not make this an unattractive place to play or deter the loyal players that have kept this community together for so long.

The armor system is not simple, I would even say complex

The armor system detracts from organic roleplaying, turning things more towards a survival RP, just another thing to keep track of.

There isn't enough money to justify a money pit.

It wont actually create profession usefulness, because we already have weapon smithing and no one does that.

We have bigger priorities as a community, such as peoples plot or a member drive.

We fear a second system overhaul, which would grind lots of things to a halt as we saw last time.

We dont need armor to create faction or country loyalty rewards, such as papers, seals, accessories etc.

It seems that it needs a lot more polishing and community feedback to get through.

An armor system isn't what the forum needs, nor does it make sense for a magi forum. While characters do wear armor sometimes in magi, it's always for show and never actually protects them from anything. The forum's concept of an A-tier slash would make full plate armor look like butter, that's just the world and setting of this rp.

I agree that it's too much complexity on top of already complex systems, but the biggest problem is how it interferes with free form rp. In the old systems, every post was a math equation where you had to plug in distance, speeds, and sometimes finding those required additional equations like the pythagorean theorem because you only had the enemy height and horizontal distance. Armor isn't quite the same thing, but it's more regression towards having an awkward wall of numbers between players that has to be consulted and translated by players practically on a post by post basis. People already forget to keep track of their magoi, stamina, and ammunition. Keeping track of multiple armor slots on top of it is a lot to ask.

If we were playing a game where the system automatically kept track of everything and our setting were Lord of the Rings or Sword Art Online where armor usually makes a difference, this would be a great addition. But on Magi World, it just doesn't fit.
