The slums of Helihapt grow unsteady, the towns people's concerns have grown restless. Their voices combined have grown to reach even the nobility of the region. Set the father of Horuss has called him in today to task him with a very special task. The house of Set is a place of grandeur, walls lined with gold and the sell of honey fills the air. Horuss walks into the compound, greeting the guards that he came to know so well growing up as a child. “Greetings Isaac and Jacob” spoke Horuss. The estate was rather quiet today, ever since Horuss and his siblings had grown up and the troubles of old age had set in the noise level had dropped exponentially. Flowers of all kind filled the courtyard and the memories of tending them with his mother all came flooding back into the mind of Horuss. Waking up at the crack of dawn far earlier than everyone else just to get some alone time with his mother. They would walk around the estate and talk about life. Horuss had come to discuss extremely philosophical topics with his mother, and they had grown to have a bond that ran much deeper than being just mother and son.
Horuss continued to walk through the courtyard letting the memories of better days fade with the scent of the flowers. Now he stood in the castle the main part of the estate, listening to the usual rumbling of the servants and the sound of the few children that still stayed. Horuss loved everyone that considered him family, but all his family did not show the same love and compassion for him. He had numerous siblings and the one time that he tried to sit down and count them all his young mind couldn’t find the means to do so. He had asked his mother one day how many siblings he did have and she could only simply respond with “As many as your father will allow”, not quite the answer Horuss was looking for in fact all this did was raise more questions for him, but he just quietly took what he received and was grateful for the information.

Horuss continued to walk the halls reminding him of all the times he had walked him, but Horuss had to let all the feelings of nostalgia leave him, for the days were not long and his father called him here for a reason. He walked into his father's study and there he sat, grooming of books and papers like he always did even when Horuss was a child. Set’s head raised and greeted Horuss with a smile, though he didn’t know it his father loved him dearly though the customs of Heliohapt restricted the amounts of affection Set could show to his bastard son while others were around. “Come Horuss sit, and have the servants grab you some tea”. Horuss sat, but was uncomfortable the whole time he wasn't used to this level of affection that he was receiving from his father. While the servants went to grab Horuss a beverage his father slid him over a stack of papers. It was letters from all the people who resided in the lands owned by Set.

They were detailed describing the people's concerns for the social health of the area. The people are saying that a group of thieves are attempting to gain control of a portion of Set’s lands. “Horuss I ask a task of you. I need you to investigate and eliminate these threats.” Horuss looked at his father, questioning whether is was a task he’d be interested in, he thought about what he had inherited when he came of age. A small apartment and barely any money, but for the people this was a task that Horuss would gladly complete. “Consider your problem solved father”. Horuss raced out of the house to the stables to grab a horse, the slums of his father's lands is where the disturbance was taking place so to the slums he would go. Upon arriving he noticed that the people didn’t seem as cheerful as usual.

A gloom pasted over the whole area. Horuss stabled his horse and approached the nearest house, and respectfully knocked on the door. A young woman answered “Young Master Horuss what is it that I can do for you.” Horuss was rather known in the slums, this was not his first time visiting them to complete a task for his father. “I’m looking for information on the thieves that have been visiting these parts of the slums”. The young woman paced, and then asked Horuss if he’d like to come in, he kindly accepted and sat at the dining table. “The bandits are looking to establish themselves in this area of Set’s territory. They impose a life tax that along with your fathers taxes the people are struggling to pay. If you cannot pay they take your belongings and if you have nothing to take they either take you or your children.” Horuss was shocked at this news the letters did not go into this degree of detail. “Has anyone in the area tried to oppose these dogs” asked Horuss. The young woman shakes her head no. Infirated Horuss stood to leave then there was a loud knock at the door, he immediately went for his sword gripping the handle tightly.

The woman didn’t move in shock for who might be waiting for her at the door. The knock came again the door shook in it’s hinges. Seconds passed and then the door came flying off “It’s the bandits!” screamed the young woman. Horuss unsheathed his sword his body itching for combat his muscles tensing and the sword felt light in his hand. Horuss counted the number of men, it was an intimidating group but nothing he wasn’t sure that he could handle. One enemy lunged at him attempting to Gut Horuss he prayed the moved and slashed downwards at his opponents back he fell like rain at Horuss feet. The rest came at him a bandit raised his knife at Horuss and attempted a downwards cut, but Horuss was prepared he raised his sword taking the Impact of the strike then he pushed against his opponents weapon creating a gap between them both he slashed horizontally at his opponents mid-section relieving the man of his life. The two more men stepped forward and not seeing anymore Horuss decided to take care of these men swiftly he parried the first ones attack the he stabbed at the mans chest.

His blade connecting to his opponents with ease. Pulling his sword from the man's chest the next one charged and Gutted Horuss all he could feel was a sharp pain in his back. Surprised that his knife connected the bandit stood in shock. Though Horuss was not a man easily brought down he slashed at his opponent diagonally and immediately brought him to his knees. Horuss thought the worst was over when another man walked in the room he however was different from the rest his neck hung with jewels. His fingers decorated with rings. Horuss asked “So are you the leader of these men”. There was no response Horuss removed the knife from his back and stood with both hands on his sword, this man was not going to be as easy as the rest. The man removed a large sword from its sheath and charged at Horuss. Horuss raised him weapon and met the man in earnest. Each putting all their effort in trying to get the other off his feet.

The Bandit chief jumped back and Cleaved in the direction of Horuss. Horuss parried the attack and got in a runner's stance and Boosted behind his opponent. The bandit was in shock surprised at the speed and grace Horuss moved with. Horuss Honed the Edge of his blade slashing at the mans back, a deep diagonal cut was made in the result of the hit, the bandit dropped his sword and fell to his knees. He gasped for air but he couldn’t find any and a single tear dropped from his eyes as he felt his life leave him.

Horuss looked at the young woman she cowered in the corner grasping her knees clearly terrified, and as he sheathed his sword and looked back at the men the entire situation infuriated Horuss. He dragged the chiefs body into the center of the slums, and posted on his head was “If you intend to continue illegally taxing the people and imposing rules that you do not have the authority to impose this is the same fate that will follow you.” Horuss rode back to his father's mansion the whole while thinking of how justly he’d govern his fathers vast lands, but that opportunity Horuss knew would never present itself. As he walked into his father's office he had a chance to look at himself, his clothes stained with boned his hair glued with sweat. He looked at his father in his eyes and simply said “Your lands are Safe.” He walked out of the compound disregarding the smells and the memories filled with the anger that stemmed from his social status. Horuss would not be a dog forever one day he will rise…
