BATTLE 4 BEGINS!!!

TENMA || ADRASTROS || RIMA || ANI

Silence filled the skies as two forces would be coming to meet this day. The moon and starts were the only light in the night sky, hanging over as forces were gathering in the dark. The forces of Yoshiro sat prepared waiting in the fork of the Wukong River.  WIth slight winds that had began to work. Forces of Gao would soon be converging on their location on order to take the position. It was a valuable place to trade resources, as the split in the river was almost a perfect 90 degrees going into two directions. Holding it would allow them to transport their resources and soldiers easier. Boats came down the stretch, carrying wood from nearby woods as the men were hard at work.

Tirelessly resources were being brought to their location, in attempt to build a fort. They needed to secure their position before the day would come, for even more of Gao's forces would coming with the morning sun. The men and women of the army were split into two groups, one set for building the fort and the other would be defending it. Soon a group of Gao's forces would be arriving at where the two separate streams met.

The two armies prepared, each partially in the dark on what the other was up. This was different than the normal high action battles of the war, this was something more. In the 300m stretch from the forces each side began to prepare. The power players from each side would get their chances to discuss plans of attack. Unlike the previous battles for forts this would allow for a direct supply advantage in the war, this was more than just land. It was a battle to see who would be more equipped for the final confrontation that was soon to come.

On this mission there would be two men in charge. One would be Lu Ban, an old general who had retired but recently decided to return. The other would be Tenma, this battle would be partially his to lead in order to show prove to Yoshiro that he was a competent general. For a brief moment he would be the one who decides how his troops would mobilize onto the field. The two men would meet under a tent in the pseudo base they set up. They planned to building the fortress around it, yet for the moment they needed to decide how to attack. Lu Ban, who was acting more so as a guide than the direct leader would offer some conversation up to his partner. In hopes that they could get the troops gathered and ready.

"Gao's troops have been spotted far ahead by our scouts, it seems their force is slightly larger than ours, and they're expected to have more on the way.  I'm not sure how you want to try to keep them at bay till sunrise but I think we should just hold our ground. You can send our forces to meet theirs halfway, but if we do that then we lead the construction site open for attack. There's also the chance that if we let them get to."

He would take a brief moment before continuing "There's a mercenary group that's fighting with us that's doing their own thing, but we need to make a plan for the main forces." Risks came with whatever decision the warrior would choose, if Tenma had his own plan that was also an option. It wouldn't be long till the battle for the Wukong River would start, the moments before would decide how the war would end.

Far in the distance the forces of Gao prepared, a Small group had gathered outside the main forces to work on their own plan of attack. The one assigned to lead a small band of 200 troops would be the wizard Adrastros. The man might not have been much of a leader, but he was one of the strongest in the army. He had shown his power before, but now it was time for him to show his ability to fight in a war. It was different than your normal form of combat, this was not just his life on the line but the life of other troops. Whether he cared or not mattered, it was a chance for him to show off his intelligence.

The shadow would among the marching groups that had began to head towards the fork of the river. His group was focused to be closer to the river so that they could pincer in on the center. As they would move their forces would start to branch of from the main army. It was risky to break alone but this would offer an opportunity for the magician. He could use his forces in order to sneak through since they were smaller. There were others on his path, giving him another option of how to approach the situation.

Creeping ahead would offer the chance for them get there faster and launch a first strike before fully prepared. Yet this would leave them open and weaker to attack as the doctor was leading a smaller force of soldiers than most. Yet he could choose to band in with some of the others on the path, but it would slow them down. This was a time sensitive battle, but losing such an important group would devastating to the forces of Gao.

Dark Rukh would build, almost like a veil on the field as the shadow magician would have an opportunity. Would he leap into action, aiming to win the war or would there be another form of response.

The forces whose swords aligned them with Gao’s banner has been preparing for a devious attack for months. Their sights were set upon a discovered fort belonging to their enemy - one that was still within the infancy of construction. Its location was vital in the war, its defenses prime to attack. They would be fools to not lap up such a lucrative opportunity, hence rigorous months of training, drafting, and planning.

Time prior the general who oversaw the effort had sent forth recruitment to those with magical capabilities. Any man, woman, or child with the gift snatched up to contribute with their goals. Their first invitation was always pleasant; the second, however, was much more forceful. Luckily for one Rima, her draft was not as rude as it was for others. As a Magician whose abilities were deemed good, the purple-haired woman would find herself buddied with another named Alozza.

Alozza, a woman of intellect and power, was gifted the chance to run experiments, albeit her employers knew little of the truth behind their nature. Incognito for a man whose face hid behind a white mask, Alozza was there for Rima. To help strengthen her into the very person that their master desired. And of course, the resources granted to her by the bloodthirsty king’s magical department was vast along with the practical application available by battle…

Regardless, during the time spent, the cunning woman masked her true intention. The subject of her research was something truly peculiar - Black Blood, as it was called. With Rima, Alozza spun the illusion that she had merely discovered it by chance and was experimenting with the substance. The purple-haired Magician had no clue as if yet that her assistance was, actually, helping Alozza discover ways to spread Black Blood even further.

Nevertheless, the day of the fateful battle was upon their unit. Within a tent set up in proximity to the battlefield, the clock steadily ticked towards battle-time. Alozza laid her smoke-pipe like staff upon the table, manicured fingernails tapping the surface as she eyed the oozy substance trapped within a jar. Her gaze lifted to meet Rima’s, her head tilting in thought. ”I fear that we don’t have much time before we have to meet up with the rest of the Magicians. I can’t foretell the events of the forthcoming night, but,” she paused. A beat passed before she grabbed the jar by the top. ”You have been a tremendous help with me, Rima. Make sure we stick together during this fiasco.”

A low horn blown throughout the camp, a signal for Gao’s unified forces to unite. Under the cover of the stars, their troops would smash through the small fortifications and capture Yoshirou’s base. Doing so would offer them advantage of the river as well as its location within the crumbling empire. As Rima learned earlier with the other Magicians, their duty was to sneak around the side while the full forces of Gao captivated the attention. Their goal: reach the communications center and shut down any attempts of reinforcements from any other of Yoshirou’s troops.

[DM NOTES: ]
You have one post to prepare for the upcoming battle! Feel free to include Rima’s introduction to the Magicians unit, her meeting with Alozza, and her perspective of the experiments.

”Alozza”:

Name: Alozza
Tier: ??
Description:
A Magician of hidden talent. She is running discreet experiments using Gao funding with Rima as her helper throughout it. Alozza is a shrewd but intelligent woman with a manipulative streak. A smile is presented to others, but there are other thoughts lingering beneath the surface.

Those within the world of mercenaries have all heard the up-rising of a particular blue-haired fighter. Going by the name of Ani, she has gained recognition for her tremendous skill with a weapon. As such, it was no surprise that she was among the first mercenaries to have been approached by Yoshirou’s draft.

The war had taken a toll on the empire, taxing everything from food, materials, and to even soldiers. Warriors of every walk, from eager farmers to prisoners, have been called upon by the Emperor’s forces. Naturally, their groups included swords for hire, men with no particular alignment other than an employer with coin.

Ani, after signing her allegiance to the young ruler’s army, would find herself stationed in a secluded fort. However, such a name was unbefitting - the building was still going through construction. It has yet to be completely built and its walls were still being fortified. Its valuable position between the branching of rivers makes it too precious to lose and its weak defenses make it a target for Gao’s prowling forces.

With such a situation, several mercenaries would be defending it. Day in and day out their duty was to patrol the grounds, to keep a look out for any approaching men who dared attack it. Ani was among such a group, her weapon patiently waiting for the time it would be unsheathed during the roar of battle.

During her time there, Ani would find herself talked to by a young woman who went by the name of Yu Yan. Naive eyes and clumsy with a naginata, Yu Yan is a rampantently enthusiastic woman. It was no wonder that she bonded to the closest person she could to - be it a negative or a positive effect on Ani herself.

It was a cold night in the barracks where both ladies were sleeping for the upcoming dawn. However, such a rest was interrupted as a lamp flashed into the room, followed by frantic screaming - ”THIS ISN’T A DRILL, FORCES ARE ATTACKING THE FRONT GATES. GRAB YOUR WEAPONS AND HAUL ASS NOW!”

DM Notes:
Now’s the time to prepare yourself for Battle Four! Feel free to describe your meeting with Yu Yan and Ani’s initial settling into her newfound position before hell runs loose!

”Yu Yan”:

Name: Yu Yan
Tier: B-tier
Description: a girl fighting for Yoshirou’s army for unknown reasons. She wields a naginata, albeit somewhat foolishly. She portrays a bubbly facade of eager optimism and has taken to clinging to Ani’s side.

The Shadow King
Adrastos was never one for the military. Yet here he was, leading a small number of troops consisting of two hundred men and women on Sahara. He didn’t know who to be: Neo Mortem the doctor or Adrastos Thanatos the Master of Shadows. Both could play a pivotal role, but the doctor was just a ruse, a lie to feed to the public. However, eventually, some lies become truths or even a necessary evil. The doctor and the master would both play their parts; they had to if this mission was to be successful without much loss

The magician double checked his equipment. Malevolent Shadow was in its own sheath on his right hip while Niut hung on the other side. His right hand was adorned with rings on his thumb, index finger, and middle finger. Dantalis Serpent, a gold ring shaped like twin snakes with diamond eyes biting into a citrine gem, rested on the thumb. A black band with roses on either side of a blood ruby, Grim Reaper, occupied the index finger. The Ring of Erosion rested on the middle finger, a green metallic band with an emerald nestled inside. Poisonous Demise was strapped horizontally on his lower back and Shroud of the Dead was latched onto one of Sahara’s many protruding bones. In one of his coat pockets, a small gem rumored to be crystallized fate (an ironic item Adrastos carried given that he had rebelled against Fate). Finally, atop the magician’s head, his black crown he received from a mysterious man at the meeting with Gao. Adrastos didn’t really understand what the crown’s function was. He still kept it with him at all times, especially after he discovered it was more than just some piece of metal. The black crown had always been a mysterious object the moment Adrastos accepted it in his possession. He didn’t comprehend what it was, or if it produced anything, until perhaps a few weeks ago.

Not too long after the meeting, Adrastos began to have dreams. Most of them were dark, an empty void. Next, the whispers started. They were soft murmurings, barely coherent, but they were speaking to the magician much like the rukh did when he would cast a spell. They plagued the man’s dreams, and he disregarded them until they screamed and saw visions of a blurred figure with three eyes, much like that of djinns in dungeons. This, however, was no djinn like he saw in the past. This felt more dark, more wild, and uncontrollable. It didn’t help he couldn’t essentially perceive what the creature was in his dream-turned-nightmares. Even now, as his silver eyes gazed toward their advancement, he could feel those eyes scrutinizing him and hear the whispers.

Adrastos let loose an audible sigh as he fastened his eyes. He needed to focus.

He rode ahead before stopping to look at his troops. They looked prepared but weary. This war had been going on for far too long and many desired it to be over. Would that hinder their morale? Weaken their minds and willpower? Adrastos clicked his tongue. A decision needed to be made: would he go forward and attempt to attack or join forces with others so they wouldn’t be wiped out?

Both options had their own pros and cons. If they went ahead, they wouldn’t be slowed down and could deliver a surprise attack on the enemy, providing their allies with an opening while hitting Yoshiro hard first and hopefully crippling their forces. However, if they were discovered, a massive force could absolutely overpower them. Everyone would die. If they stayed with the others, they’d be slowed. Yoshiro’s forces could attack first before Gao’s army could get close. Everyone would die. The most considerable risk came with option one: they sneak forward, just him and two hundred troops, and deliver a blow to Yoshiro’s side first. Time was the utmost importance and there was no greater reward without risk.

“It’s been a long time since this civil war began. When I look at your faces, I can see how much of it has drained you. However, I promise you that today we will end this war. We will reclaim Kou in the name of the True Emperor and restore this country back to its former glory. Why? Because I also see the faces of those who never give up, who will fight till the end for what’s precious. You care about the state of Kou. Yoshiro has dragged us through the mud and abolished everything that made Kou a great kingdom. He is no leader.”

Adrastos studied the faces of his troops.

“No more I say. It’s time for Fate to bend to our will and give us what we deserve: our country in its former glory. Now, let’s end this war.”

The magician wasn’t good at rousing speeches. How could he instill hope in people when he primarily tried to snuff it out? Perhaps it was something the doctor could excel at if Adrastos let him, but there was never a need. The magician never saw himself leading anything other than his Shadow Society. Still, he hoped his words made some impact on the troops as he flicked the reigns to his mount, leading his group on the faster, and riskier, path.

The one eyed man couldnt believe that the day had finally come where he could show the emperor that he was more than worthy to lead the troop. For some people. Becoming a general must be something so grand and exclusive, as it was capable to give one’s family a really great leap in the term of prestige. However it was entirely different with Tenma, he was in a tight situation and he chose to let himself bound into Kou in return for his sister safety. No one had to know about this though, no one… but himself…

For now, trying to come up with best strategies was more important than anything. The swordsman would aim to avoid large casualties that would affect the entire troops in his side and several strategies inspired by the art of war that he read several years ago starting to appear into his mind. Although he was glad that Lu Ban, an old general had decided to lend his hand in the battle. Lu Ban’s experience would be very helpful and the one eyed man had already put his respect towards the old general from the very beginning.

Lu Ban started to explain the situation to Tenma at the moment and even offered some options so the black haired man could decide which option was better than another. He decided to not play this aggressively for now, so the swordsman would answer, “I do agree with you, holding our ground is much better at the moment. We should not meet the enemy halfways, not only that…” Tenma would pause for a second as he rested his chin on his knuckles before continuing, “We have to look outside and keep an eye out for surprise attack from the rear as the enemy might split their forces, best is to assign some soldiers there.”

By the time the old general mentioned about the mercenary group, Tenma raised his eyebrow and wondered if he could meet the representative to talk about war plan. “Let’s send a runner to the mercenary group, we should request a representative come to discuss how we can cooperate together.” The one eyed man at least wanted to know what the mercenary group would be doing so they could work together, or at least to stay out of each other’s way. “The main forces should just stay on guard at the moment, so they can prepare themselves for whatever is coming for them.”

“And with all respect, Sir.”
Tenma would lock his eye towards Lu Ban’s before continuing, “You have much more experience with war, what do you think about having the troops embed their spears into the river bank as a trap for the enemies crossing? I think that would help us to reduce their soldiers.”

Recruitment.

“We highly encourage you to join the one true Emperor’s cause. We are aware that you are a child blessed by the rukh, a magician. Sources given to us by an unnamed individual brought us to you, so there is no reason for you to try and deny it.” The ironclad soldier asked in a gentle yet demanding tone, shoveling his decorated guandao into the dirt beneath him. - “How about it, do you accept? There will be rewards for those who work alongside us without struggle.”

Rima’s pierced ears perked up as soon as she heard the the word ‘rewards’. The girl obviously knew of the war that was going on in Kou, in fact, she a had actually looked into it a good bit when she first arrived to the country. The ‘one true Emperor’ this man was referring to was most likely none other than Gao Yuan Zu.

Gao, Yoshiro, neither of them mattered to Rima in the slightest though. She didn’t care what their causes were about, or what they had planned for the country. She couldn’t care any less about either side, even if this was technically her homeland. The entire country could burn for all she cared. However, these ‘rewards’ this man spoke of had in fact peaked her interest.

Rima could recall reading a good deal on how these kinds of recruitments worked. Either she would be treated like fodder and forced into a type of suicide mission, or they would shower her in riches once the battle ended. Of course the thought of being forced into an incredibly dangerous situation somewhat frightened her, but for some reason it was also quite exhilarating to think about. Not to mention the potential rewards.

“Well…” Rima would say, pausing for a moment before saying anything else. She could feel as a sharp pain bolted through her right eye, bringing her to readjust the bandages around that part of her face. - “Sure, why not? Being rewarded after a bit of help sounds pretty nice, not to mention I get to help my one true Emperor.” The purple-haired girl would say in a somewhat sarcastic tone of voice, picking herself up off the ground. She would quickly grab her bag full of belongings and head out alongside her new escorts.

Introduction.

Upon arrival, Rima would now be face-to-face with an actual war encampment. Crimson red banners hoisted throughout the entire location, flowing as the wind roared throughout the mountains. Three fully armored soldiers would cut her off, giving her a quick pat-down and inspection of the large quadrupedal chameleon following behind her. At first Basit wasn’t the biggest fan of these people, but Rima managed to call him down before he got himself into any real trouble.

“Now then, feel free to make yourself at home for the time being. We will host the first official grouping in a short while, which we’ll be going over what we have in store for you magicians, just hold on until we are ready for you.” The stern man would say, all three soldiers taking their leave and walking towards the northernmost tent.

With that being said and done, Rima would direct herself to the southernmost tent, as it was where she was assigned to go. She wasn’t entirely sure of her role in this war yet, but she had a good feeling she was just about to find out. This would indeed be the case. However, Rima was not yet prepared for what was actually lying in wait for her inside that tent.

Pulling back the leathery flaps to the entrance, Rima would take her first step inside the unusually smokey war tent. She would immediately be greeted an absolutely gorgeous woman, whom happened to be relaxing on royal-looking bedding within the corner of the tent, smoking from elongated silver and onyx pipe.

“Rima, I assume? I’ve been waiting for you to arrive for some time now.” The raven-haired woman would say with a warm smile, picking herself up off the comfortable-looking corner she had claimed as her own. She would clink her pipe alongside a metal piece located on the table in front of her, dumping the ash that had built up inside of it.

“The name is Alozza, I’ll be your partner from this point on.” The woman would continue walking towards the purple-haired magician, only to stop directly in front of her. She would then raise a single hand towards Rima’s face, caressing her cheek with a black-nailed index finger. “You’ll do nicely.” She would say in a quiet whisper.

Rima wasn’t all too sure how to react to this. If it wasn’t for the fact that this woman’s beauty was on a whole ‘nother level, she would have most likely been a bit creeped out. However, since that was the case, the magician couldn’t help but become overwhelmed with bright pink blush as it spread across her face.

“I-It’s nice to meet you, Alozza. I’m Rima Fahim, I was drafted in order to help out Gao’s cause, as he was in need of more magicians...or something along those lines.” Alozza would gently slide her index finger over Rima’s painted lips, as if to tell her to stop talking.

“Oh, I know exactly why you’re here. It’s the same reason I’m here, essentially. In-fact, you’re actually here to help out my cause, rather then Gao’s...directly, that is. The experiments we’re going to work on together, I needed a magician like yourself to help me out with them. Doing so, you’re indirectly helping out Gao’s army on an immense level. We are going to do great things together, Rima.” Alozza’s gentle smile grew into something much more wild, though, nothing to bring concern to Rima, as she was still more entranced upon the woman’s beauty, rather than how she was acting.

Descision.

“The reason you’re here...I greatly suspected that you would know a good bit about this substance, am I wrong?” Alozza’s waltz would bring her to the large table placed in the center of the room, a table clustered with many jars and vials. The raven-haired beauty would swiftly snatch up one of the jars, raising it up so her partner could get a good view of it.

Alozza was right on the money. Rima did know a good amount about the substance that was stuffed inside the jar she held. Lying within the glass container was the physical manifestation of Rima’s worst nightmares; Black Blood. The substance seemed to slowly crawl on the bottom of the jar, doing its best to latch itself to the glass walls that surrounded it.

Rima’s body would suddenly turn cold from seeing the substance, goosebumps surfacing on her tan skin. Acting as if she was out of breath, Rima would confirm Alozza’s suspicions. - “Y-Yes...I do know some about...that. Where exactly did you get that from? More importantly, how did you know I was involved with such a thing?” The purple-haired girl’s typically relaxed voice had become unstable and nervous, as she had instantly realized that she had gotten herself into something she wanted nothing to do with.

The raven-haired woman chuckled at Rima’s reaction, placing the jar back down onto the tabletop. “I’m not sure what you’ve been through, and I’m truly sorry if it brought back any nasty memories. However, you’re the only person that is capable of helping me out with something like this. As for how I knew about your link with it, I have my sources. Otherwise, I simply just found the substance throughout my travels in Kou.”

“I’m not going to force you into anything, Rima. Don’t get me wrong, I will be very disappointed if you decide to back out on this, but I’m not going to make you do anything. Your assistance to Gao’s military will be appreciated no matter what you do. However, I know that you know more about this substance then I do, and I have a few theories on how we could make some incredible use out of it. So, what do you say?”

Rima felt as though her heart was about to leap out of her chest. Just the thought of messing around with Black Blood made her sick at her stomach, but as the same time, she felt as though she needed to go through with it. While Alozza’s intentions were obviously more along the lines of putting it to use in battle, perhaps they could find a way to neutralize it along the way. Or maybe...that was just the foolish side of her believing such an evil thing could be destroyed.

“I...I don’t know.” The purple-haired magician swallowed back a lump of fear stuck in her throat. Her body felt like it was going to crumble to dust from the pressure suddenly placed upon her. Her limbs trembled beneath her, nearly causing her to fall to the ground. Alozza would be there to help her stand though, as she placed her arm around Rima’s right side.

A saddened look would form upon Alozza’s face. “I know that you’re scared, but we can face this together. I’m willing to hear you out about this, you don’t need to keep any secrets from me. I understand that this thing is capable of terrible things, but perhaps we could make some use of it? Perhaps...we could even find a way to destroy it, if that’d make you feel better.” Rima was unable to see the twisted smile latched to the raven-haired woman’s face, temporarily showing her true intentions. Alozza knew that her words were sinking deep into the girl, planting themselves within her like a seed. It was only a matter of time, as long as Alozza had her grasp around Rima, her master would inevitably get what he wants.

“A-Alright, I’ll do it.” Rima’s words would stumble out, followed by her wiping the built-up sweat off her brow. “I wanted to say no, but I can tell that you’re not a bad person, Alozza. We’ll work on this together, but first...let me tell you what this substance, no, Black Blood, is capable of."

Experiment.

Rima would act before Alozza, shuffling her way towards the table her partner had just come from. Picking up the jar containing Black Blood, Rima would begin her explanation on what exactly this substance was.

“First off, this substance is actually mutated blood. Or at least, I’m assuming that’s what it is. Don’t ask me how it was created, because I have no idea. For all I know, it was actually just born like any other organism. The thing is, Black Blood, that’s what’s called, is capable of mutating and transforming other organisms it enters. I’m sure we can replicate that through the use of some kind of dead animal, like a rat or mouse.”

Clearing her throat, the purple-haired woman would continue her explanation. “Not everything infected by Black Blood transforms all the way though. There are some special cases where a person is the perfect vessel for it, and will work in perfect symbiosis with it.” Rima would pause before carrying out her next action, but would eventually begin unraveling the white bandages wrapped around her right eye.

With her eye fully unveiled, it would reveal that her sclera had turned completely black and her pupil red. “Apparently, I’m one of those perfect vessels. Or so says the leader of this crazy masked cult that keeps hunting me down. Which speaking of them, that leads me to my next point.”

“This substance, Black Blood, mainly originates from this group of masked weirdos that keep trying to convert me, or whatever. They are the ones that killed my brother, and the reason my eye is like this. If we do anything with this Black Blood, I dearly hope that it won’t draw out their attention. My last encounter with them didn’t end in sunshine and rainbows…to say the least.”

Alozza’s expression would change accordingly with what Rima was saying. She did her best to give Rima her best faked reactions, but obviously knew all about what she was talking about, and in-fact knew much more about Black Blood then her. However, she couldn’t help but feel somewhat relieved by how much the girl actually did know. It seemed like she was doing her research on it, which was a good thing, a step in the right direction for her.

“The thing is, it doesn’t just stop at transforming and what not. Black Blood, it becomes much stronger when inside a compatible host. It’s overwhelmingly powerful, or at least...the one inside me is. I can feel it even now, whispering into my ear. It tells me to do so many bad things, it’s even telling me to take that Black Blood on the counter right now and consume it. If I went through with doing that, I have no idea what would become of me. I have no intention of finding that out though.”

Letting out an exhausted sigh, Rima would plop into the seat behind her. She watched Alozza as she made her way towards Rima, placing herself in the seat next to her. Alozza clinked her pipe into the metal tray once again, dumping out more of the ash inside of it.

“I’m so sorry you’ve gone through all that. It’s perfectly reasonable you wouldn’t want to be apart of any of it, it makes sense now. Especially with what happened to your brother, and how you too are infected by it. But, still, I think me and you can do good with it. I see potential in this plan that I have, a plan to infect the opposing forces with it. Before you object, please hear me out...”

The Day of Battle.

“Of course, it was my pleasure to help you with this thing. If anything, it’s helped defeat my fears ever so slightly.” Rima would give Alozza a playful smile, quickly rummaging through stuff to gather her belongings.

The sound of a single war horn blew off in the distance. It was time. This was the alert to signify all of the magicians in Rima’s unit that war was upon them. Rima could feel her heart pounding a million miles per minute, her body trembling with both fear and excitement. The pain in her right eye continued to gnaw at her, enough to drive a normal person mad. Pain or no pain, there was no time to complain about it. Rima would quickly remove the bandages from her face and throw them onto the ground below.

With a sharp whistle under her breath, Basit would quickly come to Rima’s side. The beast’s face was full of concern and confusion, but would slowly fade as his master comforted him. “Here, here, Basit. Tonight is going to be quite scary, but please hang in there for me. We’re going to kick some butt, alright?” Rima would say with encouragement in her voice, teasing the beast with a piece of raw meat, eventually allowing him to swallow it whole.

With a quick signal to her partner, Alozza, the two would hop on top of Basit’s back. They would then quickly scurry off towards the rest of the magicians to regroup. Their goal tonight was to follow the riverside until they reached Yoshiro’s encampment, and sneak in through the side while Gao’s other soldiers distracted Yoshiro’s forces.

Name: Basit
Tier: C-Tier
Type: Normal
Species: Snake-Tailed Chameleon
Appearance: Basit is a rare breed of chameleon, a species known as the Snake-Tailed Chameleon. They are easily distinguishable by their snake-like tail. This is meant to be taken literally, as the tip of their tail looks like that of a snake's head. A Snake-Tailed Chameleon's scales are not a definite color and are always changing depending on its mood or season. Basit has undergone enough 'growth spurts' and has finally reached the quadrupedal stage in its life. At this current point in his life, Basit is 1-meter tall and 3-meters long.

Beast Traits:

Trait Name: Natural Camouflage
Trait Tier: D-Tier
Trait Requirement: Snake-Tailed Chameleon
Trait Description: By expanding/contracting the pigmentation cells in their skin, the Snake-Tailed Chameleon is capable of altering the color of their scales to perfectly match their surroundings. This grants them a powerful natural camouflage, allowing them to essentially "turn invisible" while hunting.
Trait Effect: Allows the beast to register camouflage-based abilities.

Trait Name: Ballistic Tongue
Trait Tier: D-Tier
Trait Requirement: Snake-Tailed Chameleon
Trait Description: Similar to most of the species, a Snake-Tailed Chameleon's tongue can shoot out nearly twice its body length. By contracting/relaxing certain muscles in its mouth, it can then fire its tongue out in a torpedo-like manner. The bulbous muscle on the tongue's tip will then suction in its target and retract back to the beast. The Snake-Tailed Chameleon's tongue is an extremely dangerous tool to be used, granting it a massive advantage when hunting its prey.
Trait Effect: Allows the beast to register tongue-based abilities.

Trait Name: 360-Degree Vision
Trait Tier: D-Tier
Trait Requirement: Snake-Tailed Chameleon
Trait Description: The upper and lower eyelids of a Snake-Tailed Chameleon are joined together, with only a pinhole-sized slit for their pupils. This allows it to focus on two separate objects simultaneously, both eyes capable of moving independently from each other.
Trait Effect: This grants the beast incredibly precise vision, allowing them to keep their sights on two separate targets at one time.

Trait Name: Vapor Breath
Trait Tier: D-Tier
Trait Requirement: Snake-Tailed Chameleon
Trait Description: After a certain level of maturity, the snake-tailed chameleon obtains yet another natural defense to its hunting arsenal. The lungs inside it become capable of producing a sort of vapor by exhaling, being able to produce different impairing effects. (ie; vapor that alters your fatigue, poison, etc.)
Trait Effect: Allows the beast to register vapor breath-based abilities. The beast is immune to its own vapor.

Trait Name: Apex Predator
Trait Tier: D-Tier
Trait Requirement: Snake-Tailed Chameleon
Trait Description: Through sheer genes, size, and good training they can move faster than most mounts and beasts.
Trait Effect: The beast can now sprint as fast as a horse and can maintain these speeds for several minutes.

For Ani being stationed for once was a bit weird, up until now Ani had just been going from battlefield to battlefield mounted on her beast and causing havoc with her spear. When she had completed whatever was done in the area Ani had taken the coin that was owed to her and she made way wherever her bloodlust lead next. However, as numbers had been dwindling and she had technically made a contract the blue-haired amazon had found her mercenary work leading her here. This didn't upset her at all though, Ani needed to recruit some people and earning glory in war under the name of her Azure Raiders might gain her some recognition as the head of her own mercenary corps.

During the time she had spent in this so-called fort, she had paid attention to the layout. She hadn't told anyone but Ani had liberated an abandoned fort from a group of bandits, and after funneling money from the last dungeon she entered into it she had rebuilt it into a proper mountain fortress. In her head, she was hoping her experience from repairing her own property she might be able to assist while she was here, after all if she could help secure a good base on this valued line she might make extra coin.

It had been nice finding human company during her time there, Ani had recently found out she was pregnant a bit before coming to this place. With the proper armor and medicine, Ani trusted her Imuchakk instincts that she would be fine, and so would this child. For Ani, she had spent most of her time with just Hoyo, despite enjoying socializing and partying Ani felt like she had some things to work on. Even though it had been a surprise for her Ani had taken to the prospect of the clingy Yu Yan, hoping to use this as the opportunity to gain an ally and strengthen her mentoring skills. Being the woman she was Ani had welcomed Yu with kind arms, confidently showing off her strength and love of beasts, as well as her surprising agile steps, no matter her situation Ani had tried to enjoy herself.

Hitting her closed eyes with a burning flash Ani awoke to the bad memory of the days when the sun rose extra early on those cold winter morning fishing trips. The screaming soon faded to the back of Ani's mind as she awoke, the years of sleeping in the wild having accustomed her to waking up suddenly to frantic situations. Immediately Ani had reached to the side of her bed, grabbing her plague-infested spear she would suddenly let out a piercing whistle through the barrack, anyone with experience would know she was calling her beast.

Having concerned herself with arming herself and preparing for combat Ani grabbed her bag with the rest of her gear and looked for Yu Yan, speaking to her and herself as soon as they met up. "Well this is sooner than expected, but I can't say I'm not ready." As she headed out to observe the situation a small smirk graced her lips and the amazon's blood ran hot.

TENMA || ADRASTROS || RIMA || ANI

Lu Ban was impressed with the decision making of Tenma, he weighed his decisions. In a situation like this the importance of the base was important, dealing with the enemy swiftly was important but it meant nothing if they lost their fort. Coordination with the mercenaries they hired was something most Kou generals avoided, they often though their forces inferior. Lu Ban admiring warrior spirit thought they were a useful addition. Smirking slightly at his choice Lu Ban would respond "Keeping in contact with them would be useful, they may be outsiders but they are useful warriors.  I'll send off on of my men to set up a line of correspondence"

The war discussion would continue, it was time to set up defenses. Lu Ban would relay the information he had in order for them to better formulate a plan. "Setting up spears would be good, but we have scouts who've seen the main force approaching. We'll have to fend them off while doing it. You'd need to send forward a small detachment to do it so we don't take too much from the main forces. If we do that we can route them right into trap, plant the spears to catch their bodies, it'll slow em down and funnel them forward. The issue is, how are we going to keep them protected, we very well can't leave yet."

It was a grim proposal for a risky strategy, but it would pay off if the temporary Kou general could think of a defense strategy. Yet this thought would be abruptly interrupted by sounds from a far.  Looking outside from the vantage point of the command tent they could see forces invading the Mercenary camp. Cries would ring out from the construction site. Coming from the other side of the camp could be seen charging a small group of soldiers. Wisps of mounted shadows surged towards the construction site, Lu Ban would step forward, it was time for action.

"I need you to lead the main force, I'll use my personal guard to fend them off. Find out how you want to slow the advancing forces."

Ahead sat the Enemies of Tenma, as waves of arrows followed in the sky, soaring from afar to strike them down. He needed to deal with he archers if he was going to mobilize his troops onto the field of battle.

Dm notes:

Archers are currently on a hit between the rivers 40m away, approaching fast and aiming at the construction site.

Archers attacking from afar:
Enemy Name: Gao Archer x8
Enemy Tier: C
Damage Required to Defeat: C
Description: A simple archer that scouts ahead in order to pick off targets or pressure areas for attacking forces, They carry a small composite bow in order to pick off foes quickly. Doing C-tier damage with their arrows.
Abilities:

  • Rabbit Shot~ The archer hops front flips firing off two arrows each which is capable of doing D-tier damage, the archer flips forward 3m in an arch.

  • Sparrow shot~ The user rapidly fires off a small arrow which does Diter damage, the arrows are curved so that if they are pulled out they will do D-tier damage do the target.

  • Fox Shot~ The user shoots off an arrow aiming for the targets head but intentional misses to surprise them, then fires off another arrow towards their chest while they focuses on the feint head shot, the second arrow does C-tier damage if it hits.

Taking the path less traveled the Magician took an interesting path. Charging forward with great speed they moved like a striking phantom. Their small numbers would allow this gamble to pay off. Adrastros' forces would go undetected from Yoshiro's scouts until it was too late.  They arrived like spirits of death, but like all battles in life death wasn't going to arrive without some struggle. From around the cracks in the makeshift castle that was being crafted came a group of ornate warriors. Their armor black, with gold feathers carved into them, heavy plated with leather covering to block blunt damage. The most noticeable feature was the golden feather that decorated the top of their helmets, shooting out like resplendent plumage.

There was a small group of around 50, yet they were well equipped. They intertwined, arranging their forces to set up the line of attack, the forces spread into a semi circle with crossbow archers on the outside.  The wings of archers aimed their weapons as the ones in the center set up shield and spear to form a defense. Above these forces would fly their commander, Lu Ban riding atop his phoenix mount, only the bottom could be seen but his voice could be heard.

"Fight! Live! Honor! do these for your nation and your nation will do so for you, Show these traitors what the real men and women of Kou look like, Fight and die with honor men, for our light will fight back the darkness." He shouted out to motivate his troops, who called back with a roaring cry as they would prepare to fight against the small cavalry unit of magician.

The first wave he would need to fend off would be a small group of the crossbowmen, who showed their prowess by using deadshot to shoot down some of the dark king candidates troops. A soft thud came, as one shot by the head mans silver hair, crashing into the body of a troop right behind him. After their volley they would begin to reload, the horses were fast but would  the magician be able to take care of them before they dwindled down his forces.

Handling the loss of ones troops helped define leader good and bad, so what would this leader decide for his men, set an example, fight for them or possible something more wicked.

DM notes: Lu Ban's men are currently 45m across from Adrastros forces, currently trying to dwindle down his troops.

It was a brisk march before the group of Magicians reached their destination. Roughly 20 meters away from the walled fortress, it was finally time to begin their own goal. Alozza, an arm wrapped around Rima to ensure she didn’t fall, reached for her pipe. Quiet mumbling beneath the woman’s breath could be heard as she distinctly waved the wand expertly. As the Rukh gathered, the smoke curled into shape as a hazy image formed.

It would seem that there were still some sentries guarding their side, albeit just a few. They’ve yet to taken notice of the Magicians due to them hiding their presence behind a tree-line, but time was dwindling. Alozza whisked the sight away with the tip of her smoke pipe before her gaze fell upon the other Magicians.

“I would suggest that if any of you hold the ability to handle those guards without being noticed, it should be done now. We can’t risk drawing attention.” It wouldn’t do her plans well to tire out so early. Surely among their numbers was someone capable of discreetly dispatching those pesky soldiers. Her eyes specifically turned to Rima, hungry to see what magical prowess the girl contained.

Regardless of who went, not much time was allocated for their special plan. If they were too late, then their mission -to both hit Yoshirou’s soldiers from the side and to disable their communications- would fall apart. If they were to be blamed for the battle’s failure, then only Gao knew the punishment that would await.

[DM NOTES:]

You only have 1 post to discreetly take out the two guards at the side entrance. One has a horn and will call for backup if you are caught prematurely.

Enemy Name: GUARDS x2

A nervous smile graced Yu Yan’s lips as she picked up her own weapons. Clumsy hands hastily fastened her armor. Afterwards, she followed Ani out the door, paces behind the fast-moving amazonian. The rest of their squadron would catch up, forming a eight man party with both Yu Yan and Ani included.

An earth-shaking boom would echo from their rights, signifying that some of the invaders had just broken into their fortress from a side (a diversion for their Magicain counterparts). More soldiers pushed past through the corridors, running towards what would be an overflowing gap of Gao soldiers. While there was danger at their front doors, there was no mistake that if the breach was left unattended to that it’ll mark their fall.

If Ani were to follow the rest of the mercenary bands, then she’ll find herself in a set path towards battle. As they moved forwards, a Yoshirou soldier would intercept them. Coming to a halt, breaths coming in pants, he held up a hand.

”General Tenma seeks a mercenary to set up a line of communications!” He shouted, palm falling as he took a step back in the direction he came from. His eyes scanned the meagly crowd, lips taut in a frown. ”Please come quick, we don’t have much time to defend ourselves!”

Lu Ban was truly an experienced general, his decision making and war ideas were remarkable, probably it was the years of experience in the war which had polished him like this. However it seemed that the time had come for Lu Ban to take some action as the enemy was approaching towards the construction site and he gave Tenma the permission to lead the main force before leaving with his own personal force. “I wish you a success, Sir Lu Ban.”

A chuckle left Tenma’s lips as he noticed waves of arrows coming towards their area, “Here they come for us…” He would turn around to the main force and gave the commands, “Main force, defend against the arrows, protecting the construction is much more important than attacking for now, so focus on that for now. Raise shields, guard your allies and get ready to plant some spears in the river so we can put them in a trap.”

For now there has to be someone who had to deal with the archers, so there he went with a handful of soldiers whom he commanded to bring their shields and holding it up close to Tenma, protecting him and all of them from the arrow fire. It was an advantage for Tenma and his troop that the enemies were located in a lower elevation than him. By the time he reached the hill, Tenma would pour his magoi into his new magic item, essence of the dawn before activating Apollo's Wrath. The black haired man would keep the flask upright and the liquid sunlight will drain out and seep into the ground as a pillar of scorching light that is 20 meters in diameter will erupt from the ground underneath the archers.

Magoi : 250/260
Stamina: 390/390
Ability:
The Wrath of Apollo - After channeling magoi into the flask, keeping the flask upright, the liquid sunlight will drain out and seep into the ground. A pillar of scorching light that is 20 meters in diameter will erupt from the ground underneath the target and deal B tier damage in the form of burns as well as applying the effects of the magic type.

“Let me and Basit handle this one, Lady Alozza.” Rima would say with a light smirk plastered on her painted lips, lending her partner a hand as they unmounted the large chameleon. Giving the creature a quick pat on the head, this was Rima’s way of telling the beast that it was time to finally take action.

Rima knew very well that she might be taking an unnecessary risk by not allowing Basit to camoflauge, however, she not only wanted to conserve on energy but she also had great confidence in both her and her beast’s abilities after their training. So rather than using its natural cloak, Basit would instead attempt to stay deep within the shadows as his body slithered closer to one of the two guards.

The moment Basit came into range (6-meters), his tongue would launch out in a torpedo-like manner at the guard that he was preying upon, dealing C-Tier damage and suctioning in on the soldier’s body, dragging it back to where he was standing.

Gracefully moving alongside her life-long companion, Rima would perfectly sync her actions up with Basit’s stealthed assault. Her delicate fingers wrapped around the Headless Caster she had at her waist side, immediately pointing it towards the second guard in their peripheral once he was in range (10-meters).

With a slight swish of her Headless Caster, Rima’s catalyst drew in the rukh around her, their hue changing to a magnificent purple color. A black-scaled snake would suddenly lunge from the tip of the wand, bearing fangs at the target it was heading towards. If the ability were to successfully connect with the guard, it would deal C-Tier damage.

Stamina - 170 / 200
Magoi - 460 / 480
---
Items Used:

Name: Headless Caster
Tier: A
Type: Magic Weapon - Wand/Club
Magic Type: Abomination - Life|Strength|Heat
Appearance: Despite its name, this wand has a 15cm diameter pumpkin head made from painted metal adorned to its tip. The head is surrounded by a fabric of woven human hair dyed to color and fashioned into a sort of "cloak" that the head seems to be wearing. The entire arrangement is 50cm in length counting the wooden handle which is carved from an execution tree where many innocents were hung by bandits after having their village raided. When one holds this staff on a full moon, it is possible to feel the resentment of those who died on that tree. The pumpkin's eyes glow red for the night and black rukh flutters around the wand regardless of the rukh alignment of its wielder giving it quite the sinister appearance.
Function:

  • Grudge Manifest -  Feeding magoi into the wand and pointing it at the ground in front of the user causes a vortex of black mist to appear at their feet. The vortex forms within 1m of the user and is 1m wide. Abomination magic causes local dust, bacteria, and similar small loose materials to gather quickly forming a humanoid shape as it rises out of the vortex. The golem takes on a ghoulish appearance being 2m tall with rotting flesh making up the most of its body. Countless cracks run along the monster's skin that glow with a blue light. Its eyes and mouth produce hot blue flames. The abomination can move at the speed of a normal human and deal B-tier damage with its fists. Either upon destruction or at the user's command by snapping their fingers, the abomination will burst in a 2m explosion of blue flames dealing B-tier fire damage.  10 Magoi to activate | 5 Magoi to sustain.
  • Bludgeoning - This wand uniquely doubles as a club and will deal A-tier damage if used in melee attacks. The staff may be used with melee class abilities as if it were a club as well.

Abilities Used:

Tongue Lash
Tier: C-Tier
Class: Beast Tamer
Type: Offensive / Supplementary
Range: Medium
Requirements/Drawbacks: Command - The user must give orders to their beast somehow, whether it be through vocals or something physical. If the beast is unable to verify a command, they will do nothing. | As soon as Basit's tongue begins to suction in, he is unable to release the target until it either fully retracts back to him / or the target is unable to be moved by it.
Scaling: Damage: The tier of damage dealt will increase by one for every 10 magoi/stamina that is invested.
Sustain: -
Cool Down: 2 Post
Cost: 20 stamina | 10 stamina
Description:

  • Upon hearing his master's command, Basit will attempt to lash his bulbous tongue outwards at a target within 6-meters, dealing D-Tier damage upon impact, unless scaled.
  • If whatever is hit by Basit's bulbous tongue can be moved, it will be retracted back to the beast due to the tongue's suctioning capability.
  • This ability can travel up to 6-meters away.

Striking Snake
Tier: D-Tier
Class: Magician
Type: Offensive
Range: Long
Requirements/Drawbacks: Life - The user must focus their catalyst directly at the designated target.
Scaling: Damage: The tier of damage dealt will increase by one for every 10 magoi/stamina that is invested.
Sustain: -
Cool Down: 1 Posts
Cost: 10 magoi | 5 magoi
Description:

  • Upon commanding the rukh, the caster must then direct the position of their catalyst towards a target within 10-meters of themselves. Life magic will then begin to infuse any nearby bacteria, forming a 60cm black-scaled snake that will wrap itself around the catalyst.
  • After creating the snake, it can immediately lunge from the tip of the catalyst, attempting to bite anything in its path for D-Tier damage, unless scaled.
  • Alternatively, the caster can choose to not fire the snake as a projectile and instead have it attack a target as it's coiled around the catalyst.
  • This ability can travel up to 10-meters away.
  • The snake will disperse the moment its fangs sink into something, or the user's post ends without it attacking.

Combat Log:
Basit and Rima would attempt to sneak up on the guards together, staying within the shadows.

Basit would attack Guard 1 with a scaled Tongue Lash, dealing C-Tier damage and suctioning their body towards him. (-30 Stamina).

Rima would attack Guard 2 with a scaled Striking Snake, dealing C-Tier damage. (-20 Magoi).

The Shadow King
Adrastos signalled his troops to halt when he saw the men encased in obsidian armor and golden feather plumage. However, by the time the first arrows were shot, the magician was too late to give the order to take over. An arrow whizzed past his head to embed itself into a soldier behind him. The thud his body made as it hit the ground was nothing new to the magician since he had killed so many himself, but this was the first time he was this close to someone dying.

The silver eyes of the magician gazed down at the fallen man. A look of surprise was etched onto his young face. He was just a boy. Adrastos clicked his tongue. On any other day, the magician would try to save him, but he was already gone. Even if he was alive, he couldn’t waste time saving the life of one while so many others perished. Addrastos spread his arms out, signalling for his men to split apart and converge on either side of the enemy’s ranks. Hopefully that would lessen the casualties on his side.

The crossbowmen were too far away for any of his spells to hit. His troops consisting mainly of assassins also didn’t have the skills to match the range of a ranger. However, they only seemed to have four crossbowmen. If they had more, why not use them all?

“The real men and women of Kou?” Adrastos laughed as he unsheathed his wand and sword. “They’re right behind me. All that’s left is the trash in front of me, shooting down arrows because they’re too afraid to fight head on. That’s not honor. That’s cowardice. Of course, I should expect nothing more from a man who hides behind his forces instead of standing in front them to lead,” he taunted as he stood on the saddle of his mount. Adrastos sneered and jumped forward, spending some magoi to fly. With only four crossbowmen, they couldn’t shoot down forces on both sides and in front of them.

The magician used his flight to close in the gap. When he was at least ten to fifteen meters away, Adrastos flicked his wand, “Nemesis Sol.” A black orb of light formed at the tip of his wand and he launched it at crossbowmen where it touched the ground in front of them. The grass burst to flames in a two meter line where the orb was controlled and the fire hungrily roared to life. Hopefully they would be distracted enough by the smoke and fire to the point they couldn't aim well. He would use this chance to continue to advance while observing how the enemy reacted and how his own forces would handle the situation.

Ani kept her eyes on her ally behind her as she continued to walk forward, her rosé eyes darting from one direction to another. Even as her vision was preoccupied she kept walking, looking at the faces of the other mercenaries and the chaos ensuing around them. Her instincts to not only survive but to fight had kicked in and as she was stopped by a soldier telling them about some general wanting to set up communications. As this graced Ani's ears she would coo before letting out a loud whistle once again.

Then suddenly her reptilian beast had slipped underneath her amongst the crowd, and reaching down Ani had easily pulled her ally onto the back of it is well. "I'm on it!" She declared to the entire regiment as she would then suddenly command her beast to start moving at top speed. Looking to Yu she tried to reassure her. "This will be good for the long run."

As Ani had begun moving towards the direction of the General her eyes still darted around. The entire reason she chose to be the one to set up the line so quickly was so she could get a better grasp on the situation. Though as her hand tightened around her spear it was obvious she was eager for the war around them, her eyes peeled for threats as well.

TENMA || ADRASTROS || RIMA || ANI

A hail of arrows rained down on the shields as the general managed to keep a defense. Pressure is what the archers where trying to reply, as the arrows came down like hail. There would be so much that the shielded soliders could do against their attackers, while they could hold there was always chinks in the armor of any defense. Arrows slipped through cracks, stabbing at the troops, slicing through their flesh or skewering their bodies. Yet while they attempted to provide a continuous assault the soliders of Gao would find themselves on the receiving end of a counter attack.

A beam of scorching light would envelop the archers as the general had chosen to act in that moment. A few troops would be lost for the nature of the attacks, the large beam managing to pickup any troops near the approaching forces. It was unsure if they were dead but moans and cries could be heard on the battlefield as some bodies were badly burned. The attack worked in their favor in this moment but large scale attacks wouldn't be possible once the enemy forces would approach. The magical attack cleared, leaving a destructive aftermath but opened the veil for the stronger foes.

As the battlefield became more visible troops coming towards the building were now in site. The advancing archers were a decoy while pressure was pushed onto the other sides of the battlefield. Followed by another line of four archers, appearing at the corpses of the dead archers, along with  a tall cloaked figure. It was hard to discern the figure yet his footsteps shook the very earth, a hidden monster amongst the battlefield. A loud roar resonated from the cloak, sending out a powerful command, a signal to let loose on the general looking upon them.

A wave of warriors began to flood towards the fortress, the main force was now upon the battlefield and things were going to kick into high gear. The new group of archers  followed behind till they were twenty meters away from Tenma, two of the archers would fire a fox shot.

In the distance the Mercenary would soon be there to communicate with the general herself, that was if he could keep his head on his shoulders atleast.

OOC: 4 Gao Archers currently 20m away, two of them are using fox shot on Tenma.

Archers attacking from afar:
Enemy Name: Gao Archer x4
Enemy Tier: C
Damage Required to Defeat: C
Description: A simple archer that scouts ahead in order to pick off targets or pressure areas for attacking forces, They carry a small composite bow in order to pick off foes quickly. Doing C-tier damage with their arrows.
Abilities:

  • Rabbit Shot~ The archer hops front flips firing off two arrows each which is capable of doing D-tier damage, the archer flips forward 3m in an arch.

  • Sparrow shot~ The user rapidly fires off a small arrow which does D-tier damage, the arrows are curved so that if they are pulled out they will do D-tier damage do the target up to 15m away.

  • Fox Shot~ The user shoots off an arrow aiming for the targets head but intentional misses to surprise them, then fires off another arrow towards their chest while they focuses on the feint head shot, the second arrow does C-tier damage if it hits. Arrow travels up to 20m away

As bodies fell around the shadow king he would respond with swiftness. Shadows would cover the vision of the men aiming to take down the attacking special ops force of Adrastros. The dark mist concealed their line of sight, yet they wouldn't stop shooting, the firing squad would continuously fire their bolts of into the mist, hitting the occasional troop. They would need to dealt with, or the forces lead by the magician would need to be diverted in order to avoid losing more numbers. He had the advantage, now all that was needed was to use it properly.

Lu Ban wasn't sure what the magician would have planned for his attack, The general would need to make sure that his troops would be on the top of their game. For a brief moment he would close his hand, signalling for them to stop firing. While they couldn't see the caster of the spell or the ones they were trying to hit it was possible to scan for their targets. Maybe some antagonizing would be to draw them out.

"Come on out mage, your darkness maybe protect you in the night. But you shan't escape the ever encompassing light of me and my men. Quit this assault, what you do holds no honor. Gao is nothing but a murderer, who cares more about enticing fights with his own power out of childish motivations like greed, pettiness and fear. This will be your last chance, more resistance is going to result in your death." His voice rang out, the stern and solid tone of his voice would reach out. An honest plea as so to halt the fighting, it was unlikely but it didn't hurt to try.  Yet it wasn't the only thing he was trying on his foe.

Signalling with his left hand while speaking Lu Ban ordered his troops to head left to try and get a view outside the smoke, trying to gain a peak around in order to find a place for attack.

OOC: Crossbowman now 30m away approaching from the left side of the cloud, Adrastros' right side.

With a ceremonious grace Alozza lifted the pipe to ruby lips which were curled in a pleased smile. Rima, who once seemed so nervous, was more than eager to partake the task. While she wasn’t quite sure if the Black Blood that pulsed through the girl’s body was of any influence, nevertheless she was pleased. Confidence, taking charge - both were traits that Alozza wished to cultivate. Rima needed to be stronger than she was and so wonderfully was she growing.

But that wasn’t to say that Alozza wasn’t entirely reliant. All the while Rima and her beast snuck closer to the guards, the tighter her grip on her wand became. However, their plan went off without a hitch! Smoke curled upwards as the guards toppled over; no other eyes were upon them and therefore the rest of the Magicians caught up.

”You fantastical darling, Rima!” Alozza cooed as she smiled earnestly at the girl in question. ”Perfect! Thanks to you we’re able to start our mission!” Another puff of smoke curled in the air, followed by the tip of her wand curving. Another image, this time a map, appeared in its grey depths. While it was a maze to those who had failed to see the intel gathered on the fort prior to the day’s event, it was perfectly clear to Alozza.

”We best get moving! Handle all enemies as quickly as possible, we need to reach the communication center to stop any chance of reinforcements!” With that said, another twirl of Alozza’s wand had her floating above the ground in an ethereal sight. The Magician would take off with the rest of their group, taking an immediate right that would lead them to their destination.

Whether Rima decided to follow or not was left up to her, albeit with consequences if she abandoned her duty. If her ultimate choice was to assist Alozza and the other magic-wielders, then their group would inevitably be intercepted by a group of soldiers dashing madly to the front gates. Upon seeing the host of Gao’s Magicians, they immediately set forth in an offensive, shields before them with their weapons poking outwards.

If Rima was among the Magicians, three especially found her as their target. Initially 6m away, they would ultimately break apart in order to take both Rima and Basit down. One charged forwards by 5m towards the Chameleon before Jabbing with his lance at the beast. The two others would run towards her, covering 5m before attempting to attack her in a flank formation. One Push from the right, another launched a Spin Attack from the left.

Spoiler:
Enemy Name: YOSHIROU SOLDIERS x3
Enemy Tier: B-TIER
Damage Required to Defeat: B-TIER
Description: Infantry soldiers deployed by Yoshirou. They wear standard armor depicting the Emperor’s emblem, along with matching shields. Two wield 1m long swords, the third a 2m lance.
Abilities:

  • JAB: using a 2m long spear, the soldier lunges forwards and jabs the business end into a target. It deals B-tier damage if hit.
  • PUSH: using their shield, the soldier rams into a target and roughly shoves them. The initial force of the blow additionally deals D-tier damage.
  • SPIN ATTACK: the soldier quickly spins with their weapon outstretched, dealing C-tier damage to all in its way. Once it hits something, the spin stops prematurely.

”I-If you’re sure, Ani-sama!” Yu Yan muttered, clinging close to the Imuchakk as the beast set off. Despite the nervousness that laced the girl’s voice, there was still an iron edge - perhaps hope that she’d make it through no matter what? Regardless, her vice-like grip was around Ani as they were steadily lead towards their destination.

Cries could be heard from behind the group as gao soldiers invaded the mercenary camp. From all around them came the cacophony of battle, but the runner never ran off course. Diligently, he steadily ran ahead of the mighty beast of Ani in order to lead her to the Commander’s Tent.

However, their path would not be as straight-forwards. Whipping around the corner, arrows from advance troops shot forth. One would graze the shoulder of the runner before he stumbled back with an alarmed shout. It would seem that they were promptly intercepted by a group of Gao soldiers who had wove their way deeper into the fort to run amuck, away from the front lines.

There was a small choice of options: either fight through the barrier or find another route, which could feature hidden enemies. There was little time to make a decision, as the Gao soldiers would attack with a piercing battle-cry, determined to win the battle for the sake of their cause.

Regardless of her choice, Yu Yan would hop off Ani’s fearsome steed. Weapon in hand, the girl’s trembling knees stilled as their foes approached. Two would charge in from the front, a third 10 meters away, and a fourth with his eyes on the runner. The one gunning for the runner would quickly close grounds, sword unsheathed to release a Whack at his leg. One of the pair moving forwards would lunge at Ani with a swing of his sword whilst his partner did the same to Yu Yan.
