Job:

Perhaps you underestimated the fickleness of fate. Or maybe you underestimated your own self instead. Not a very likely scenario though. Far more likely the course which fate had led you to believe it was pushing you toward had suddenly swerved at the last moment. Just another quirk of fate which often caused you to turn your head in disgust. You wanted order. You wanted stability. You despised the chaos which surrounded you. But who could ever control fate's dizzying path? Not even a god, you surmised, could ever cause fate to bow and follow a predictable course of action. You laughed at any and all attempts to steer fate. You laughed at your own attempts too. Truly, even these attempts were all decided by fate. Nothing and no one could every defy it. Fate ruled supreme over everything in existence.

"Ah! Miss! You've awoken!" The grass crunched beneath the hurried feet of a child. It neared quickly before pausing right next to her head. With great reluctance, the silverette lifted her eyes up. A small, raven-haired child peered curiously at her. She blinked as the curious stare turned into concentrated awe. After a moment of the uncomfortable staring, she cleared her throat. Still lost in a trance-like state, the child murmured, "Y-your eyes..."

She tilted her head. Of course. She must stand out clearly in this child's memory. With her snow fallen hair and icy eyes she often left a longstanding impression upon all those who came across her. Especially the people of Kou whose country rarely knew of the lighter hair and eyes of the west. "My eyes? What about my eyes?"

The child's eyes widened when she finally realized she was staring. She immediately averted her eyes to the side. "O-oh, pardon me. Y-your eyes are just so pretty, I-"

"Akito?"

The child - this Akito - immediately spun around and ran outside the tent. Aquila's ears followed her curiously. From this shift, the sound of rain battering down finally processed. She grimaced. How hard was it raining - and more importantly, what was anyone doing out there!?

She rolled onto her stomach. Using her arms, she pushed herself up. Her knees bent inward until she was sitting, facing the back end of the tent. On shaky feet, she stood up, only to be greeted by pained legs, sending her tumbling downward.

"Ugh..."

She closed her eyes tightly, trying desperately to block out the pain. Gritting her teeth, she lifted herself up once more. What the hell had she done to her leg anyway?

Despite her attempts to stand up, she remained unsuccessful, the pain an effective deterrence. With begrudging consent, she gently lowered her body back to the floor. She closed her eyes and sighed. Where was she...? She squeezed her eyes and concentrated on her surroundings. Nearby, she could hear the faint sound of a river. Perhaps the river she almost drowned in? So she was in a tent pitched near the river. Lovely.

She opened her eyes. Boredom. A pest. And currently pestering her. With a sigh, she rolled onto her stomach - pointedly ignoring the pain - and stared at the wall. Soon, holding up her head grew too uncomfortable and she turned upon her cheek. Too... bored...

The loud, distinct noise of rain sprinkling something above her awoke the silverette...awoke? She jolted upward with a start - "Argh, fuck!" - only to curse in pain. Lightly, she tapped on the skin which stung the most. She resisted the urge to hiss in pain as she prodded at the areas. Fractured? Broken? Either way, about useless. She sighed and looked upward. Rain fell lightly onto the tent, the noise of each raindrop hitting it a constant, comforting beat. She hummed quietly along with the rain's established rhythm. With the quiet tune brought a wash of melancholy she quickly buried away. They were unimportant. A waste of time.
