Spoiler:

The footsteps formed along the trail of the forest as a young man gently glided across the pass with relative ease. His hair, in all respects, seemed almost whiter than the trickling snow that had only begun to fall in the morning. The winter air was harsh, stinging his face as he walked towards it's breeze, but strangely...the man was unhindered by the frigid temperatures. Rather, a comfortable smile made way through his face, solemnly resting in a still position as he continued to gracefully resist the wind without effort.

The hanbok, as it was called by his people, was of a purple hue today, different than days passed in the earlier year. After some time had withered, the Sangju man had opted to return to his people, unbeknownst to the nomads, to check up on things. After the task had finished, he made his escape under cover and "borrowed" a fare spare of hanbok on the way out. Since then, the Uncrowned Prince had decided to try out the assortment on different occassions.

On this particular day, the young man, Yushin, had decided to spend a lonesome day to himself - away from the hassle of the big inner plaza, and rather, found himself travelling as far away to an outskirt village. Such occurrences were often met with Yushin, his mind would always wander and his own body would follow suit. Perhaps it was a bad habit...but in many ways it always led him to something interesting...and something interesting did he find.

Within moments the fresh smell of blood flooded his senses as the young man quickly reached for his hwando and unsheathed his blade. Something wasn't right...

Upon relenting to his inner curiosity, and his own instinct, Yushin verged further out the path into the woods to find...bodies. They were bodies of the local soldiers, ravaged by means that were not human...not human at all. A sharp rustle of sound snapped Yushin's attention away from the scene, and quickly he pointed his hwando towards the source. "Reveal yourself."

The moon illuminated the night with its light as the snow accompanied the moon as it fell towards the ground slowly, with full of grace. It was a beautiful sight, but somehow deadly for some people because of the harsh weather. The cold grasp of the winter could easily take the soul of those who couldn’t bear the freezing torment, to the point there was a chance where they will be drowned into an eternal sleep…forever. However such kind of thing was just another event, another cold night for Noir when she was chained by the title as slaves. The black haired girl scanned the sky, her golden orbs followed the snow as it fall from the sky and touched the white colored ground. The only way for her to survive back then was to stay awake and rubbing her hands together, hoping she could generate some warmth with her bruised and bleeding hands. The pain would keep her awake and that was just perfect to escape another freezing night in the ship full of slaves. It was amusing that she could still remember those nights, as if it happened just yesterday for her. A sigh would escape her lips, a sad smile would be carved on her face as she wondered if she was truly free from her own past.

Haku would growl softly to her as he nuzzled Noir’s arm, raising his temperature to keep his master warm. The black haired girl would slowly move her pale hand, placing it to her liger’s head before she caressed the warm fur. She wondered what would happen if she was taken as a slave again, would someone come for her… would she be able to break free again? She didn’t know…

“Noir?” A voice broke the female magician from her own thoughts and both her and her liger turned around to see who was calling. “Mr. Milkazuki?” The girl called back, wasn’t sure why the man still up although it was very late. The one eyed man put a smile on his face as he walked towards the girl who was cuddling with her liger, “What makes you stay up late in the middle of the night like this?” The man looked at her; there was a hint of worry and curiosity expressed on his face.

“The snow reminded me of the old times.... and i couldnt really sleep. What about you?” Noir asked, tilting her head as she waited for the man’s answer. With a brighter smile, the man would then chuckle, “As funny as it will be, my reason is exactly the same.” The swordsman would then let out a heavy sigh, as if he was reducing the weight on his shoulders for a little bit. “I want to talk more, but I guess we should wait for another time when both of us are free. I really need to sleep.” He would put his hand on Noir’s head before ruffling her hair, although it only lasted for a few second because he was not supposed to do that for now. “I hope you go to sleep soon, though. Well then, good night for you and your companion.” He said before he left with a smile, although the smile felt sad a little bit.

The black haired girl watched the man as he walked away as she put her hand on her hair, still feeling the warmth from the man’s palm. She wondered why he looked so sad before he walked away, but not only that, he felt familiar somehow although there was no memories about him in the past. She was certain that both of them just met, thanks to this Kou civil war.

As she just wanted to stand up, she noticed Haku was sniffing the air with his ears perked up as if something had happened. The girl would then call her liger before mounting him, wanting to see what her liger had sensed. Sitting on Haku was enough to warm herself, not to mention that she was wearing a kimono, something that would not really help her to warm up. She was proud that Haku was able to smell something as they arrived in front of the white forest, stopping to decide whether or not they should explore more. The white beast would sniff the air again and let out a soft growl, slightly looking at Noir and wait for what his master want to do.

The female magician would climb down from Haku before manuevering her hand, signaling Haku to walk beside her as they entered the forest. She would follow her liger towards the source of the scent, wondering what they would find soon. But it felt a little bit strange as the scent smelled like a fresh blood and not only that, she noticed a white haired man wandering around the area with unsheathed sword on his hand. If she tried to see more, she would notice the dead bodies near the white haired man but it seemed her effort to be able to see more accidentally made a sound. It caused the man to point his sword towards her direction and it seemed she didnt have any choice other than following what the man wanted.

“Greetings...” The girl said, bowing slightly towards the man who was wearing a peculiar outfit.

The rustle of snow, the emergence of two figures, the smell of blood, there was much to be wary of. A lack of fear or urgency greeted Yushin's demand, as the source of the noise revealed itself in plain view. A woman? And...what's this? His hand tensed at the sight of the beast. In all of his travels, he could hardly recall seeing a creature such as this. In many ways, it reminded him of the mighty predators of the plains, yet in other ways, it did not. Still, Yushin knew enough to be cautious of it. It's fangs were very well dangerous enough for it to warrant it. His hands tensed at the sight, as he clutched his hwando stiffly at the two emerging figures. Of course, his outer disposition revealed no such sense of tension from the Sangju man. He could not relent such an advantage to a potential threat.

A thousands thoughts raced through his mind, like rain falling heavily on an autumn day. Too many of them emerged and fleetingly fell before he could gather them, yet, he could not allow his mind to become dull now.

Surprisingly, the woman bowed, and let forth a greeting to the white haired youth. It was a rather gentle greeting, one lacking any fear and holding some level of comfortable conviction. This was suspicious, and rather alarming,. A million red flags rang in his mind at the rather relaxed composure of this figure. After all, the smell of blood would make any pedestrian gag in disgust. Yet, this woman didn't twitch. She didn't twitch at all.

Yushin eyed the beast warily, as he made no effort to lower his hwando. He had regretted drawing it. As he stood, face to face with a fanged foe, and a potentially dangerous woman, it might have been more apt to draw his geom in this situation. The hwando provided a relief in boosted mobility, but he would hardly land a solid blow on the beast if the situation came to blows.

He took a moment to compose himself, internally wiping his mind of any unnecessary tension. Being wary and cautious was a strong trait, however only a dead man would hold onto the weight of anxiety. It was a strength that Yushin excelled in. Composure, he found, was key to many circumstances, and composure and peace was easily found. With an internal cleanse, Yushin faced the newcomers with a peace in both mind and heart, but also resolve in confrontation.

For now, he took the greeting as a friendly gesture. "Likewise." He responded simply. He didn't want to waste his words just yet. Rather, he used his eyes to gesture at her beastly companion, which was a suspect in the violent killings surrounding them.

It was a winter embodied in a person as she saw the man in front of him, despite of the sword that was pointing at her, her golden orbs were scanning through the man who could be one with the snow if he hide himself well. Noir would move her hand slowly though, careful so the man wouldn’t thought that she was planning to do something. She put it on her liger’s head before commanding her beast to stay still, didn’t want Haku to charge at the man carelessly for pointing his sword towards the magician. The black haired girl should be worried though, because it might be the man who coldly massacred all this people although there was no blood stain visible on his clothings.

After the man replied to her greeting with a rather short and simple word, Noir would nod at the man before scanning the area once more. She was ready to attack anytime if turns out this man was a killer... or if this man tried to attack her, she would try to knock him down as well. But she was not sure... She could feel that he was a little bit tense, although it was not visible from his expression. There was some kind of murderous intent as well, perhaps only to intimidate her but somehow it didnt feel violent or evil. So many questions appeared in her head, her heart started to be filled with a little doubt. This felt akward actually... but Noir thought she had to find out about the man’s intention and she would decide later on what she had to do.

“Some people might think that the crimson snow is a beautiful art, so cold, so violent... and reek of blood...” She paused for a second before locking her golden orbs towards the man’s eyes, “Do you think it is beautiful?”

It was like a flood of raging water breaking down an already broken dam; his sudden rage was unleashed in a spur of an instant. His face soured so quickly that even he was surprised. His eyes became bloodshot. His ears became hot. He could feel his fury rising until it exploded from his face. "Beautiful? He scoffed. "Countless bodies lay ravaged and violated on this frigid snow! Countless men are now dead, leaving grieving widows in their wake! The snow is colored with their cries and their murder! Their last cries of grief heard by no one but by Death himself! The explosion of his words surprised him. He wasn't used to losing his cool so easily.

Yushin held back a curse, as he could feel his throat welling up from his sudden outrage. His other sword hand drew his geom with a speed that was alarming. His geom, flew to him like it could hear the call of his fury. "How could you possibly consider this to be beautiful?! How could you look at this as art?!""

This woman, was now an enemy. No one could look at a sight like this and consider it to be alluring. This was a dangerous disposition reserved for psychopaths and radicalized extremists. In a blink, Yushin used his speed to fly forward and charged this girl with both his geom and hwando in hand. Why he was so enraged, he was unsure. His passions rarely dictated such reckless action...but this was different. The sight of the Kou bodies, the lifeless sight of them...brought back terrible memories of home. His people...did they not look the same? Their slaughtered bodies littering the winter floor? He perished the thought. It was too painful of a memory to resurface, so he would push his down, and thrust his blade into this woman's chest.

The black haired girl frowned at the man’s answer; it seemed it was better if she had made herself clearer that she was not responsible for this massacre, although she knew why the man was so easily triggered with the words that she just said. A girl like her, lurking in the forest alone with a giant beast who could easily tore someone apart with his sharp claws and deadly fangs, not even twitching or reacted when she saw the blood painting the snow. It was not anyone’s fault though that she couldn’t express anything, she didn’t feel like she love seeing it, she didn’t feel disgusted or anything… she just felt like it was a common scenery in her past. However, she was glad that the man reacted like that because it meant that he was not responsible for this chaos.

“You misunder—“ She stopped herself the moment the white haired man’s sword attempted to pierce her, but it was not his sudden attack that stopped her from finishing her words. As her borg protected herself from the pierce to her heart, Noir shifted her gaze to her left. Her body tensed because she felt something was approaching, something that she knew and despised. Haku who was growling ever since the man attempted to stab him noticed his master’s change of behavior and smelled something, making him step back and moved himself to Noir’s left side now as if he wanted to protect his master. The black haired girl would then raise her hand, high enough for the man to see on his eye level. “Wait.” She said to the man as her golden eyes were still locked towards the empty area on her left. The moment a strange creature appeared, Noir’s heartbeat became faster than ever. ”Another one… just how many will have to appear…”

She gritted her teeth before looking at the man, “That creature is responsible for this. You can be upset all you want to me later, but when you kill it, burn it to ashes until nothing’s left.” The creature’s teeth was red, not only that, both Noir and Haku could smell a strong blood scent coming from the creature as well. It began to rushes itself towards the man, Noir and Haku, attempting to ram its head against the trio, but if it thought that simple move could knock all of them out, it was very wrong. With a growl, the beast began to harden his body and ran towards the creature, letting it ram its head to his steel body as using the pressure from the collide to step back near Noir. She took out her staff and waited for the creature to attack again while she prepared herself.

Frustration ... the physical sound of it sang like a mockery to his ears. The ting of steel rang in his face as his blade was met by the woman's borg. A magician? How apt. Those that practiced sorcery were a curious sort, a sort that Yushin himself was never quite too unwary of...however, as of right now he wasn't exactly in the right mind. Without any calculated thought, Yushin skillfully spun his body to slash once again before his face was met with the hand of his enemy. It was as if with one hand, the woman had stopped the snow from falling, the wind from blowing. Magic? No... It wasn't magic. It was merely the realization of Yushin's sense. They were tingling, warning him about an impending danger. It was a kind of tingling that he would have noticed at any other time...how could he let himself go so emotionally? This was unlike him...

By now the Sangju prince had leveled his breathing. His eyes were noticeably calmer, no longer bleeding with rage as they were before. In its place there was focus, his eyes now like daggers as they quickly flitted over to the left, the source of murderous intent.

A beast had emerged from the depth of the forest, growling ever so confidently at the sight of new prey. The smell of blood was overly apparent.

Yushin sighed. He would have noticed the creature if he had been more level headed. How could he be so irrational? So unfocused? He nodded at the woman with a pseudo approval at her remarks. "Yes. Quite right." He pointed his blade at the bloodthirsty creature and as if by a signal, the woman's beast of her own charged. Oho?

Using this as a chance for cover, Yushin rushed towards his new enemy with his geom and hwando unsheathed and hid behind the woman's Liger. He waited for his opportune moment and his patience was met with reward.

The magician's familiar had rammed itself into the bloodthirsty enemy with a force that had surprised both the beast and Yushin himself. That's quite the friend you have here He whistled.

As the enemy was now pinned, Yushin took his chance to deliver a cross slash with both his geom and his hwando. In reaction, the creature shook its body violently and jumped away from Yushin's geom. Only his hwando had seemed to knick it.

Tsk, what a waste.

Yushin rolled out of the creature's murderous warpath a moment after eyeing it's tail. The chimera had shifted focus towards the Liger, lashing it's snakelike tail at the Liger with a Viper Strike. It was apparent to Yushin that this would most likely deal a poisonous injury.

The white haired man used the chance after Haku’s block to attack the chimera although it was not too effective and in return, the filthy beast quickly maneuvered its sharp tail towards Haku as if it was ready to pierce the liger. However with his beastly instinct to sense incoming danger, the white beast quickly sustained his block and made the poisonous attack failed. Noir whistled with a certain tune, making her beast understood what kind of attack that he should do next. So, with another growl echoing through the night, Haku would increase his body temperature and bit the Chimera right at the neck as his fang spew flames into the bitten limb. Right after that, as if it was not enough, Noir commanded Haku to slam his gigantic paw towards the chimera’s face, dealing a basic attack before telling him to back out. The liger did what was commanded and stayed still to wait for another command as he showed his sharp teeth towards the filthy creature, KO’ed or not.

It had appeared as though both he and the liger had come out unscathed from the encounter. He was thankful of this. In fact, he was not only thankful, but rather impressed by the rather fluid coordination between master and beast. Not only had the woman deftly deterred his initial strike with magic, she had also taken down the chimera by merely whistling commands. He took a mental note to be cautious henceforth.

With weapons drawn, Yushin steadily approached the rather quiet and limp body of the chimera with enough cautiousness. For all he knew, the beast could very well have been faking it.

He approached the grounded figure until he had reached the neck of the chimera, careful to be on the furthest side from its tail. He carefully knelt and examined the body. It was lifeless.

Hmph, what a monster.

In a single fluid motion, Yushin sunk his blade deep into the beast's neck and then severed it from its body. After doing so, he continued to sever its tail as well.

"Well then...that should do it" He sighed. Using the know, the uncrowned prince cleansed both his hwando and geom before gently sheathing them.

He faced the mysterious woman with a curious gaze. "Well then, I appear to have regained myself.
This beast has been taken care of. You may or may not be cleared of this massacre. Now,"
he calmly took a step forward, "Who might you be?"

After the white haired man severed the neck and tail, Noir moved forward and fed her magoi into the lava ring before creating a lava pool. The chimera’s body quickly burned away as the lava touched it and the black haired girl would wait until the creature’s body became ashes. “My good sir, in the future, whenever you encountered this kind of beast please don’t hesitate to kill it and burn it to ashes. We don’t know what people might do with the corpse if we don’t.” The young magician quickly reminding the man as he cleaned his sword, thinking she should do the same as well.

Her staff would be slung on her back and she would listened to the white haired man’s question, seemed unfazed as the man stepped forward to her. From his question, it seems that Noir was still a suspect although it was clear that the chimera did it. Well, the magician could understand why he still suspect her though. A fragile looking girl controlling a giant beast with a mere whistle, sound dangerous enough for some people. “My name is Noir Ecryola and my liger here is Haku… Currently we are offering some support for Emperor Yoshiro.” The black haired girl would pause herself before she scanned the man once again with her golden eyes, “And you? Who might you be? Are you from Emperor Gao’s side?”

"Neither" He calmly replied. "I have no current barring with this Civil War that Kou has found itself in. Rather, you may see me more as a wanderer just passing through..." There appeared to be more to what the Sangju man let on, however, whatever it was he appeared to give little to no room to infer further into the matter. Scanning the beast up and down, or rather, what was left of it, Yushin frowned as the rather ease in which it was destroyed. "Quite a peculiar ring you have there..." A magic tool he by the looks of it. He may have just found himself face to face against someone who was far above his level. Someone high above his league.

Yushin was a brash fellow at times, but he wasn't stupid. To attemto anything silly would do him no service. Instead, befriending the woman was likely the right call, one that Yushin had zero qualms of pursuing. Perhaps he had been to uptight. A bit of friendliness could go a long way he would think.

"Yushin." He said firmly. "I'm...a nomad." Again he was a bit hesitant. Revealing his bloodline could have been a dangerous thing to do. Still, he remained calm, perhaps a little more than that in fact, as he flashed his usual radiant smile at the lady, an especially warm one that could have melted the very snow beneath their feet, and perhaps the hearts of woman across the land.

"Thank you for your help, and do forgive me for my hostile attitude earlier....you....must understand."
