ZUZU MANSUR
The Black Asp Bar was full to the brim of customers, a rare sight in these troubled times, with seemingly no partitions between that of the normal pub and the special guest rooms. It was strange that such a diverse group of people had all gathered in this setting, but it was to be expected when such an interesting thread bound them all together. A girl with purple hair. All of those people were there to see Zubaidah off, their lives having been impacted by her in different ways - from helping them with jobs, to keeping them from departing this life. And standing amidst all of them was the girl herself.
Zubaidah hugged her dear friend Koko tightly, the redhead crying her heart out as Zubaidah patted her back for comfort. ‘Don’t worry,’ she reassured Koko, ‘I’ll be back sooner than you think. Besides, you know this lead is important for my journey, and it may slip through my fingers if I don’t act now. Meanwhile, can you make sure to keep an eye out for anything happening over here please?’
Koko sniffled out a soft agreement and released her friend shoulders, waving a small farewell as Zubaidah turned to exit the Bar, herself waving at all the customers who had gathered to see her off.
Once she was outside the Bar, Zubaidah made her way to the central plaza, nodding to an old man in the garb of a priest standing to the side. Taking that to be a sign of approval, he chanted a long spell that produced an azure light in the centre of the plaza. As he finished the long string of words, the light drew together into many long strings of what seemed to be a solid material and glowed once more before calming down. With a polite gesture, the elderly priest told her to approach the circle so he could initiate the transfer process. which Zubaidah happily went along with.
The tendrils of light began to swirl once again, surrounding Zubaidah’s torso and gradually making its way across the whole of her body, from the top of her head down to the soles of her feet. She only just managed to wave back at Koko, before her whole body faded into a collection of light particles and disappeared from view. They zoomed around the bright sky, dispersing and reforming as they saw fit before finally taking Zubaidah’s shape once more. But it was not the location the spell had been targeted at. Miles above the plains of Kou, Zubaidah’s unconscious body plummeted head first through the wispy clouds.
