Jingyi wasn't dressed how she usually does- no, instead the warrior was garbed in lighter clothes designed for training. And at the moment, the warrior was training. She was well within the first week of it, training designed to make her stronger so she could advance ranks in the military.
Her legs groaned in protest as the warrior ran laps, her feet sore and her breaths shallow as her chest heaved. She was almost done with her 10th lap, but once that was done she would move onto the next exercise. As she crossed her finishing line Jingyi came to a stop, her hands finding their place on her knees as she caught her breath. Straightening back up, Jingyi looked around before getting her waterskin and taking a refreshing sip.
Setting the pouch back down, Jingyi got to the ground and laid on her back, her knees raising as her hands crossed her chest. Her fingers pulled at the fabric as the woman started to do sit ups.
"10..." She huffed, her forearms touching her knees before dropping back down. "9..." Forearms touched knees and it continued for 8 more. Jingyi then turned onto her hands and knees and started doing push ups, lowering herself so her face almost touching the floor before pushing herself back into her original position. This continued nine more times before she climbed to her feet and started to do jumping jacks, ten to be precise.
She then repeated the sets, but only doing nine of each, this time. And then again, only 8. She only came to a stop once she reached zero sets, her face almost as red as her hair as her chest heaved for breath. Her hands grasped her waterskin as she took down hearty gulps before starting to walk her cool-off laps.
Jingyi was found at her training spot, finishing her introductory laps that she had always started with. But weeks of training had paid off for the warrior, leaving her with hardened muscles and more stamina. This time she easily passed ten laps and reached her new limit, 16 laps.
Her hair was plastered to her sweaty forehead, her breaths heavy as she sucked in air. Her legs longed for her pause, but if she stopped then she wouldn't be able to start again. And that was unacceptable.
She quickly passed the finishing line for the sixteenth time before skidding to a stop. She slowly stopped walking as her arms raised over her head. Spotting her waterskin, Jingyi wandered over and grabbed the pouch and took several sips of water.
She could feel her heart hammer away in her ribcage, but Jingyi knew that she still needed to finish the rest of her exercises. Lacking off wouldn't achieve her military success.
With the thought in mind, Jingyi put her pouch down before walking over to her spot. But this time she started with jumping jacks, her hands touching together 16 times before she lowered herself to begin on her sit ups. By the time her forearms touched her knees for the sixteenth time, she paused to gulp down some air before turning onto her hands and knees. Her feet pushed out as she raised herself into proper position before starting to lower herself. She went down and came back up sixteen times before starting on her sets once more. 15....14...13...12...11...10... her body felt so sore and she felt so tired. But she couldn't stop. Not so soon.
By the time she had finished her final set, Jingyi collapsed to the ground and stretched out her arms. Her muscles ached in protest, but Jingyi had satisfaction in the knowledge that she would sleep better that night, and that she was one step closer to becoming a stronger warrior.
