Job:

The morning was a bit hot for Kerum as he dabbed his forehead with piece of cloth.  It was time for the man to change things up.  The last few months he had been slaving away making weapons and armor to be used for the Coliseum.  It had been good work, paid well but the repetitiveness of it had grown old quickly.

They young man stood in front of a board that he was told offered all kinds of jobs.  Scanning them he saw everything for fishing to hunting.  Most of them seemed quite a bit more difficult then he really felt he could handle alone.  Naturally of course they were the best paying ones.

A small breeze kicked up pulling his long black hair across his face.  Spitting a few strands out he pulled it back into a ponytail and tied it with a white ribbon from his pocket.  He was wearing his normal white pants, shirt and jacket.  Kerum had made sure to purchase a new lighter one when he got into the area to keep himself from over heating.

A single sword was attached to his belt, he had still not been able to replace his lost blade.  Most of what he had made went to food and shelter, leaving little for him to save for a good quality sword.

The blue haired girl buttoned her clothing before putting her signature cap on top of his head and wrapping the black choker around her neck. She thought that she need to do some missions today, hoping to get rewards that would be very helpful to pay for her expenses while she stayed in Reim. Perhaps she would be able to find an interesting job because so far her day was pretty lame to the point she was almost died because of the boredom. The whalefall crew went missing, Farid, Caelus and Jumanah were nowhere to be found and she didn’t know where to find them. It was disappointing though because she already made a decision to stay a bit longer outside the Imuchakk island only to be left by the person that made a promise with her. She closed her eyes and sighed, knowing that perhaps she should go back to her home soon but… oh well, she didn’t know what would happen so perhaps staying for a little bit longer would be fine.

Lilithia quickly walked towards the job board and she was standing beside the black haired man, possibly a mere human, but she didn’t say anything and stared to the board. Her blue eyes scanned through the job board and she had found an interesting job, but it seemed that man still had not find the job that he wanted to do. Curious, the woman began to speak, “Didn’t find the job that you want?” She said as she turned her head to look at the man, a smile decorated her face. “Wanna join me to do this job?” She pointed her finger to the job that required them to protect a village from unusual beast attack and waited for the man’s response.

The search was making no progress as he looked at the ones he could probably do many of them were simple tasks that paid ok, but not well. His dream of having enough to open his own forge would take years at this rate. The sun was blocked briefly as he noticed someone walk up next to him.

Glancing over he saw a tall beautiful woman, she had striking blue hair. Kerum had heard of a tribe of people who had blue hair but had not really met any or done business with them. Her clothing was nice, but his eyes fell to her weapon it was amazing.

Her words interrupted him as he blushed and spoke softly. "No I did not." Her next question took him by surprise, especially when he looked at the poster and realized that it was a very high job. The air of confidence that this woman gave off told him she could handle herself.

"I would be honored to take it with you." Kerum stated with a bow. Raising back up he held out his hand. "I am Kerum Kosha." His mind was still confused as to why such a woman of her standing would invite him on such a task. He would have to keep his guard up, but he had nothing of value that this woman could possible want. Not to mention he was no one of importance.

Lilithia would nod as she shook the man’s hand and maintained her strength, careful to not break the man’s hand. But her handshake was firm, enough to assure Kerum that she meant no harm… only fun. The blue haired girl would then put her hand on her hip before stating her own name, didn’t bother to say it when she shook Kerum’s hand before. “Lilithia Galavant, pleased to meet you.” Her tone was confident and her sapphire eyes were bright despite of the several black rukh that was fluttering around her although the man wouldn’t be able to see unless he was a magician-born. "Shall we head to the village now?” The Imuchakk chuckled before she started to walk, intended to head towards the village and hoping that Kerum would follow her. As soon as he followed her, she would be open to answer any questions that he might have at the moment. A simple chat would be good, but if the man didn’t have any questions or curiosity then Lilithia wouldn’t mind and would keep walking.

As they reached the village, they would notice the apparent view that the beasts were surely made the villagers’ life miserable. Most of the house had their wall broken, some had a serious crack and some even had a rather big holes. Judging from that, Lilithia assumed that the beasts might be a heavy weighted one, of course perhaps they slam the wall with their body… or some kind of horn.

“Ohh, finally!” An old man walked quickly towards the Imuchakk and the man, he seemed happy to see someone came to the village and took the job but it was clear that he was frustrated because of the attacks before if Lilithia and Kerum noticed the thick wrinkles on the old man’s forehead and tired eyes. “We have been waiting for someone to come and help us! Please, take care of that huge horned beast. They trampled lots of our villagers, spoiled our small farms and broke our houses!” The old man shook his fists angrily before he realized that as a chief, he shouldn’t be acting that way before coughing and gained his composure. “A-anyways, they usually came from the west entrance so if both of you are okay, please head there… we will provide you with some woods for fire, water and food if needed as you guard our village from those wretched beasts.”

After giving a nod, Liltihia would then stare at the man before saying, “Perhaps we might need to spend a night in this village… let’s just hope the beasts come soon so we can take care of this quickly.” She smiled and headed towards the west entrance before sitting under the tree near the gate, waiting for the trouble to come.

Kerum hid any reaction from the handshake even though he thought it would break under her grasp.  When she stated her name he smiled, it was a nice name.  "Yes lets."  Kerum stated as he started to follow her.  He doubted he had much of a choice anyways, this woman seemed sure of herself and ready to go.

They walked a ways in silence, Kerum was really not sure what to talk about if anything.  The two would do the job and then probably go seperate ways.

"So, is this place a huge difference from where you are from?  I have never been that far myself.  Most of my time has been here in Reim."  Kerum asked his hand resting on the top of his sword.  It was less out of fear of attack as more his natural way of holding himself.

That was really his only question as they continued towards the village, when they arrived he was shocked by the damage.  Everything seemed to be in ruins or close to it, he could see the small farms utterly destroyed several vegetables broken open.  The holes in the buildings were huge, Kerum had to fight something that could literally do this to stone.

He tried to keep his composure, it was to late for him to turn back as he listened and nodded.  "If so, at least we will have shelter and food."  Kerum stated mater of factually as they headed towards the West gate.

A hour went by as they stood guard, Kerum paced sometimes getting on a few crates to get a better view.  Finally something happened as the ground shook a bit and the trees in the forest started to shake.  Almost losing his balance Kerum dropped to his feet and waited.  Birds ripped from the forest as the large creatures burst out of the forest.

“Oh yes, my homeland is surrounded by white. It’s always snowing and perhaps you would be freezing cold when you visit my homeland.” The blue haired woman chuckled, slightly putting a sarcastic tone in her words before continuing, “Ahh, you will get the chance to travel more though. This is my first time visiting another country to be honest, my homeland is pretty strict with adventuring.” She gave him a smile and noticed how he rested his hand on the top of his sword, wondering if he was cautious of her… or it was just his way to get away from his nervousness.

The Imuchakk hummed to herself as they were waiting for the enemies to come before she stayed quiet and looked at the man. “So, you are a swordsman?” The blue haired woman asked an obvious thing, but she did it to break the ice since they would work in group. She could just have took all the enemies down by herself but it would be too much work for her and she was in the lazy mood at the moment. She would just stay at the inn and enjoyed life but it couldn’t be helped since she need money to live.

Lilithia smirked when she felt the ground shook, noting that the enemies had chosen a wonderful time to pay them a visit just when the sky turned orange. “You don’t have time to rest~ Or I might take all of them myself.” She chuckled again, staring at four giant horned beast. The beasts noticed them and one decided to head towards Lilithia while another one dashed towards Kerum. Using her executioner’s axe, the woman poured her magoi into it to activate Rotting Edge, the beast used earthquake and attempted to make Lili lose her balance, but she intentionally let herself sit on the ground so the beast can head towards her. She would swing her axe twice to the beast and kicked it right on its chin as well as punched it right on the face right after that. One down and she would get ready to defeat another, so she would take a stance, pulling back her axe and focusing her magoi into it. As soon as she was ready to throw the axe, another would go down…

The thought of the cold area was a little unsettling to Kerum, however after the heat here it might not be to bad.  The worst thought however was having to be on a ship for days maybe weeks just to get there.  That was not something he would ever be excited for.  He would need a lot of alcohol for that, like a lot.

"Yes, I usually wield two blades, but the last one broke on my way to Reim and I have yet to be able to purchase a new one.  To be honest my fighting style relies on two."  Kerum answered honestly reaching for the empty space on his other hip.  It was unnerving not having two, like he was incomplete.

Staring at the charging creatures he cursed, and hoped that today would not be the day that he died.  He started to move away from the creature so that they would not be in the same area.  Who knew what they could actually do.  Before he could even draw his sword though the one that turned towards him ducked down his head and charged forward ripping the ground up as he did.

Gritting his teeth Kerum dove to the side putting extra effort into it.  The ground here was rough but it was enough to get out of the way of the charging beast.  Drawing the sword quickly he took it in two hands and used a powered up Diagonal Slash twice in rapid succession ripping into the creatures side making an X.

The moment she was done feeding her axe with magoi, Lilithia threw it towards one of the beast that was running towards her now. It seemed that the beast wanted to avenge the one that the Imuchakk had brought done, but it should know better that its time would end soon. The woman threw the axe towards the beasts and it was too late for it to notice, the first harpoon successfully bring it down. However it was not the time to rest, while the swordsman had a trouble with one of the two remaining beast, perhaps she should just leave the man playing with the beast for a little longer and see if he could actually defeat the beast.

To kill the time, another guest was already prepared to entertain her. The beast seemed angry and it attempted to charge towards the blue haired woman, but Lilithia had a plan. The horned beast would angrily charge to her while it was filled with rage, so the blue haired woman took a quick step to the left before mounting the beast and grabbed it by its horn. Surprised that Lilithia was on its back, the beast stood up with two legs and tried to shake the Imuchakk off although it was not working because the woman was holding tight to the beast. With a smirk on her face, the Imuchakk wrapped the neck of the beast with her legs while her hands were still on the horn and she attempted to tear it. She added a pressure to her legs and knew that perhaps she should just use a direct hit to make the beast unconscious before she could tear the horn easily. So using her leg, she would kick the beast’s neck and then used the momentum to flip her body while still holding to the beast’s horn. The pressure that she got would be used to lift the beast up with her Imuchakk’s strength and at that moment, the beast would be thrown to the ground.

The blue haired woman would then punch the beast on its abdomen, making sure it was unconscious before turning her head to focus on Kerum. “Ask if you need some help!” Lilithia said it with a playful tone and waited for the man to respond.

The two attacks were solid and made nice gashes in the creatures side. A roar of immense pain stunned Kerum as he tried to jump back. The snark remark from Lilithia just added anger to Kerum as he did not like taking help from people.

The horned beast turned sharply, much faster then he had expected possible and sent him flying. Rolling a few times he got up to see the creature was trying to Trample him. Taking a deep breath he positioned himself and dove to the side again using all his effort. The trample barely missed him, gripping his sword he rushed in to deliver the final blow using another powerful Diagonal Slash.

Panting he watched as the creature finally went down. A little bit of life left in it as he thrusting his blade simply into its neck. Bending over he touched his chest pain from the hit coursing through him. Looking around he noticed that she had killed two of them already. He was well out of his league here. "Well, one more right?" Kerum stated with a small chuckle as he sheathed his blade.

Tomorrow was going to be a rough day for him. The soreness from this fight would be horrible. Slowly he walked towards Lilithia, he was scanning the area and could not see the fourth one anywhere. "Where did the last one go?" He asked.

Kerum’s movement was a little bit sloppy, perhaps he lacked of experience in a battle. Although if he managed to find a right mentor to teach him, he could polish his skill more and probably became a better swordsman. He did well but she had seen a lot of warrior in her homeland who was a sword wielder and she could judge from that alone. But despite all of that, he managed to kill the beast so she wouldn’t say anything and gave him the praise that he needed. When Kerum asked where the last beast was, the blue haired woman felt very amused because apparently the man was very focused on his enemy and didn’t realize that Lilithia had defeated it.

“Oh, here.” Lilithia pointed to the defeated beast that she was sitting on before giving the man a chuckle. “Good work, not bad.” She laughed softly and stood up, approaching Kerum to give the man a friendly pat on his back.

The pain was growing a bit in his chest, it could be that the adrenaline was finally wearing off and his body was feeling it. He hoped that the injury was not internal that was a quick way to die out here.

As she spoke he did look around and counted four dead beasts. "O my bad, did not see that one over there." Kerum stated sheepishly realizing he did not really help that much. The woman had taken three down before he could even handle a single one. He was far from where he needed to be.

"Thanks, you were way better." Kerum stated with a smile as he finally got to her. "Shall we go get our reward." He stated with a large smile. The money from this job would help him greatly in his goals.

He was also interested in Lilithia a bit more. She was strong and powerful, not to mention she had some really powerful items up her sleeve. The villagers were already watching them as they arrived as the elder brought them the reward and offered to throw them a large banquet in honor of defeating the terrible beasts.

"That would be wonderful." He answered as his stomach gave a rather loud grumble angry from the little he had eaten on the way to the village. "Might as well crash here for the night as well." Kerum added looking back at the sun as it was started to vanish from the sky. He was not really in the mood to walk back in the night.
