Amatus lingered in the tunnel leading to the sandy battlegrounds of the Coliseum, his hands resting on his hips as he waited for his name to be announced. Despite the smirk that Fanalis wore, Amatus was nervous for the upcoming match. It would be his first official fight against a worthy opponent, and his father was probably watching to boot. But he knew that he would do good in the ring and that any foe that faced him was getting their face smashed into the ground.
"Laaaadies and gentlemen!" A voice yelled out, his words echoing even into the tunnel that Amatus waited within, "I welcome you to another day of combat within the Coliseum; today, I present two new dogs into the ring! Please show your love to... GIANA ANTONIUS!" Her announcement was met with cheering and wolf whistles. It took a moment for the gin to die down before the announcer continued with the introductions, "And from the other side is the son of an old time veteran... AMATUS LAERTES!"
Amatus held himself back from charging forwards, but he couldn't help but walk with a confident swagger to his step. His long hair, which was tied back by a blue string, swished with each motion he took. Upon exiting the tunnel, Amatus was forced to squint against the glare of the sun which was a sharp contrast to the previous darkness. His foe was already waiting for him, and as his vision returned, he couldn't help but be a little disappointed.
The girl was dressed as if she was from Kou, but from her facial features, it was obvious that she wasn't. For weapons, Giana seemed to carry a pair of large fans which she had folded up. They seemed frilly and inappropriate for a fight, but even from this distance Amatus could spot that they were bladed.
The announcer called for the match to begin, his words followed by a roar of cheers from the spectators. Amatus naturally fell into the Fanalis fighting stance, leaning back as he widened his stance. His left hand extended forwards, fingers bent into a claw-like form; his right hand lifted to hang by his face, prepared to attack with the ferocity of a lion.
Digging his heels into the ground, Amatus made the first move by launching himself at Giana. The girl, who wasn't too far away from the Halfling, barely had time to twirl away. With a flick of her wrist, the fans snapped out before Giana took a step forwards. With practiced grace, the new combatant twirled her fans, slashing them one at a time at Amatus.
Amatus jumped away from the fans, weaving around the frilly weapons using his Fanalis Speed. Before his foe had a chance to attack him again, the Fanalis took a large step forwards with his left foot before he used his right hand to Backhand Slap one of Giana's weapons away from her. With a crunch it was sent fluttering away, the girl retreating as one of her fans was lost to her.
Once more, Amatus took his race's fighting stance before lunging at Giana. After touching the ground, the Halfling jumped up towards his startled foe, his body turning in the air as he Flash Kicked the girl, his leg beaming her in the face before he used Giana to propel himself back away. He heard a shout of pain as she got the full brunt of his Fanalis Strength hitting her, but Amatus didn't care much for her cry.
The pink head landed on his feet with ease as Giana stumbled back, her free hand grasping her face which was left with a red mark. With a shake of her head, the Kou- enthusiast dived away for her fan, avoiding a lunge that Amatus attempted to get her back in his grip. With a grunt, she both retrieved her fan and got back to her feet, facing off Amatus.
Landing on his hands and feet, Amatus ignored the prickles of pain as he scraped his palms catching himself from the failed lunge. Pushing himself up from the crouch position he was, the Fanalis sprung at Giana again, aiming a underhanded right hook to her gut. This time she was ready for his attack, turning on her heel as she twirled her fan around her, deflecting his punch through the use of Falling Moon.
Pushed back again, Amatus growled as his mismatched eyes narrowed in annoyance. He stumbled back for a moment before catching himself, his body lowering into stance once more. Using his superior body, the man charged forward. He could faintly hear the crowd roaring in the background as he put down his left foot. Giana was raising her fans, sweat dripping down her face as she frowned in concentration.
Grinning, Amatus swung out his right leg in a Sweep Kick, and with the full force of his Fanalis Strength, his foot caught the back of her knee. Giana's leg crumpled from the blow as her grip on the fans loosened. Following his momentum, Amatus stepped beside the girl as his stance widened. His left clawed hand reached forward, grabbing Giana's arm and squeezing it in a vice-like grip before tugging her close. She squeaked in protest, but before she could actively resist his grip, Amatus pinned her arms to her side by wrapping his right arm around her. With a quick turn on his heel, Amatus threw Giana as far away with his Grapple Throw. With a cry she hit the ground rolling. She didn't get up, and with a cheery voice, the announcer declared Amatus the victor.
Straightening himself off, Amatus brushed off his armor before strolling over to Giana. The girl was still lying in the dirt, her head in her arms as her shoulders shook. Kneeling down, Amatus' smirk changed to that of a caring smile. But honestly, he couldn't really care less about Giana's feelings.
"Hey, Giana..? I hope I didn't hurt you too badly! Thank you for the exciting match!" His words were met with sniffling as Giana sat up, Amatus rubbing her back reassuringly as he led her out of the ring.
