Why Magnostadt always bugged him with their problems, he would never know. Why didn't they bug other, non-troublesome students to take care of everything. His brother, Eli, reported the professors were hoping the dangers of the job would take Ariel’s life so they no longer needed to deal with the annoying and disagreeable magician. Even so, the jobs they sent him on were often ridiculously easy. By now he thought they would have figured out his strength. Or perhaps not, seeing as they now wanted him to chase after some thieves of utensils. Either way, was starting to grate his nerve. Or maybe that was the point. Maybe they were attempting to chase him away by annoying him to his boiling limit.

The Underestimation of Abilities and the Annoyances it Caused [ Solo Job ] AIHLLVxg
Name: Planetary Aligner
Tier: A
Type: Advanced Wand
Magic Type: Strength
Appearance: A 50 cm long, 15 cm wide wand. The design is that of a solitary, blue orb that looks like it's distorting gravitational waves in the shape of a spiral.
Function:

  • Planet Juggling -The user feeds magoi into the wand and says "orbit". The ground around the user then starts shifting and warping, eventually shaping into 4 spheres that vary in size between .5 meters and 1 meter. The spheres then orbit around the user at a leisurely pace. If the user decisively points the wand at a target, one or more of the spheres will fling itself towards that target up to 20 meters away. The number of spheres flung depends on the user's will. Each sphere is capable of dealing C-tier damage upon impact, even when orbiting the user. 10 magoi to activate | 5 Magoi to sustain.

He smiled carefully. It was always a good idea to smile carefully around Schwartz when he teamed up with Eli. How unfair. His dear brother and his self-proclaimed mentor teaming up against him. How was he suppose to deal with double the trouble!? Eli and his silent disapproval and Schwartz and his look of despair. Ariel uses the Glare-Of-I-Don't-Care. It is super ineffective! Deals 0 damage to the enemy! Even his patented ‘go to hell glares’ barely scathed the top of the Eli and Schwartz disapproving disappointment. They were familiar with Ariel’s ways by now. They knew of his stubborn and apathetic intent towards them and the academy. So his rejection should not have come as a surprise or disappointment. What would have come as a disappointment was if Ariel actually accepted the job. After all, the only reason they asked was to be thoroughly rejected, right? It made no other logical sense for them to continue asking favors and things of that nature only to be rejected. Unless, of course, they were insane. In which case...

“You know my terms and conditions. So why are you trying to bend them?” he demanded.

“Will you not accept a favor ever? The support of others won by favors are far more precious and helpful than jobs wrought with money,” Eli countered.

“Guaranteed payment beforehand is more trustworthy than the “honor” of humans. And an equivalent favor in the form of returned favors is more iffy and debatable than favors paid in the form of money.”

“Even so, it makes you more likable and trustworthy and therefore you can draw more versatile favors from others. The general support of others can be good to sway others to your side as well.”

Of course Ariel's will won its way in the argument over payment or favor. Schwartz, having learned far better to pick and choose battles with Ariel than argue over every single little detail, quietly allowed the brothers to argue to their heart's’ content, well aware of the stubborn streak that ran among the Harel siblings. Ariel caught the thieves quickly. Having immediately noticed a pattern in their attacks, he correctly guessed where exactly they would strike next, to where he might be able to ambush them. The next night he bombarded the thieves with black spheres of strength magic. “Orbit,” he had whispered and pointed his wand at the young thieves.
