Jingyi leaned back against some crates, her eyes closing as the carriage jostled. The wheels of the vehicle threw up dust, and things seemed to be peaceful so far. But Jingyi knew that wouldn't last long due to the ruffians who had taken to attacking merchants like the ones she was traveling with.

But the warrior didn't worry, she was sure that no matter what she'd be able to take down the troublesome pests. She is Jingyi, and she planned on becoming a general, and warriors who can't take down measly grunts couldn't hold that title.

Jingyi shook her head at the thoughts, a soft sigh escaping her lips as she sat upright. Her eyes half opened as she looked out, watching the horizon for any signs of pesky rebels sneaking towards the caravan.

Luckily the woman had a rare moment of foresight, sitting at the end of the train since she had heard that these cowards attacked from behind. Hopefully, they wouldn't change their tune and decide to attack from the front this time.

Things seemed to be quiet so far, with no signs of the bandits who apparently lingered around the very path the merchants and she were traveling down.

The only sounds she heard were the whispering wind and the jin of the caravans. Jingyi sighed in boredom before leaning back, her eyes closing once more.

Unfortunately for her, Jingyi ended up falling asleep. But how could she help it? The rocking of the carriage, the peaceful air, the gentle wind, it all lulled the rather bored woman into sleep.

An hour passed during her slumber, and it was during this time that bandits came closer. The warrior only snapped awake when she heard sudden yelling and excited whoops.

Jingyi quickly grabbed her sword and drew it before pushing herself onto her feet. She braced herself for a moment before jumping forwards as the carriage she was riding jolted to a stop. Her feet hit the ground, Jingyi retaining her balance as she stood tall, her sword raising to point at the rebels in front of her.

She could tell that they were somewhat uneasy with her presence, but they still had taunting sneers on their faces. But they wouldn't hold such expressions for long, Jingyi told herself with a confident smile.

"I'm just going to say this once!" Jingyi exclaimed, pausing to make sure she had their attention, ignoring their uncouth remarks before she continued, "This is your only chance to escape unhurt, and if you don't, then I promise you're going to be in for a world of hurt!" She added with a swipe of Grasscutter, ringing filling the air at the action.

"Who do you think you are, girly?!" Shouted one man as he drew his own weapon, a small but sharp dagger, swiping it through the air to punctuate his words. His friends followed suit, unsheathing their own daggers and yelling their taunts.

Jingyi took a brief moment to survey her opponents before shrugging her shoulders, her smile still in place. "Just a Kou warrior," she uttered before lunging forwards.

The bandits scattered at her approach, but they didn't get far from her. They were bound to put up a fight, but that didn't matter. Jingyi turned to face the closest opponent, before taking a step forwards. Her leg was flung out, her foot slamming into the grunt's stomach and eliciting a cry as he was hit with Close Kick.

Before he could react, Jingyi quickly put her foot down and stepped forwards, her sword thrusting forwards and stabbing the ruffian. He was thrown the ground, his hand grasping his stomach.

Jingyi watched as he scrambled away, turning around to face the remaining three grunts, the rest of the comrades escaping lest they have to receive the dish of pain Jingyi had to serve.

The three remaining rebels eyed Jingyi, their gaze flickering between Grasscutter and her face. The warrior herself could only smile, proud of herself and her skills. Hopefully, she wouldn't grow to be arrogant in the coming future.

With a smile, Jingyi swung her sword to the right and slipped into the Mamushi Stance, the hilt of Grasscutter held in both hands.

"You sure you guys aren't gonna run away?" She questioned, looking between each one before picking the right one to target first.

Upon seeing their determined faces, Jingyi shrugged her shoulders to herself before lunging forwards. They all scrambled back at her action, but Jingyi continued to close the distance between them.

Her target lunged forwards, his dagger thrusting forwards in Jab as he attempted to hit Jingyi. The attack scraped her side, causing her to wince but she continued anyways. She started to weave and bob around his attacks, her superior speed allowing her to dance circles around him as she performed the beginning of Hypnotic Viper. Suddenly, Jingyi lunged forwards, the jump surprising the man as he tried to step back. But her sword was quick, and in a flash her sword was swung diagonally, hitting the man and causing him to crash to the ground.

It was at that moment the other two decided to jump forwards, an angry cry escaping their lips. Jingyi whirled around to face them, her heels digging into the ground as she raised her sword. Iron Guard blocked an incoming Jab, the grunt stumbling aside as the other thrusted his dagger forwards. His attack stung her skin, leaving a scratch and almost causing the woman to wince in pain.

With a brief frown, Jingyi raised her sword as she once more fell into the Mamushi Stance. Her sword raised, the rings lining Grasscutter ringing together before she lunged forwards. Her sword was jabbed forwards, piercing the grunt with Striking Cobra and causing him to fall to the ground with a yelp of pain.

Whirling around, Jingyi swung her sword, causing the incoming grunt to jump aside. Before he could launch another attack, Jingyi brought her sword close, both hands grasping Grasscutter's hilt as she pointed the weapon to the side. With a cry, Jingyi leaped forwards, Grasscutter lifting backward in an arc before being swung downwards, hitting the grunt as she completed Jumping Snake.

He cried out and crumpled to the floor with a cut across his face. Jingyi raised her sword before sheathing it, watching as the three grunts scrambled to their feet and ran away. Hopefully, they learned their lesson and won't attack any more merchants.
