Raiders of the River I:
Job Name: Raiders of the River I
Job Rank: C
Job Location: Shu-Fang River
Job Rewards: 100xp, 7000 Huang
Job Overview: Rumors of a bandit camp that have been within the rubble of an old temple beside the Shu-Fang River have spread. These bandits have been besieging passing caravans and looting small amounts of their wares, which are then sold in back alleys of Kou to support the group's interests. The Merchant’s Guild has put out a job to simply find out where the group is located, get a size estimate and make it back. You may need to knock out a patrol or two to get a good idea of how large the camp actually is, and return with it's name.

Burning Fang Patrol:

Enemy Name: Burning Fang Patrol (3)
Rank: C
Needed damage to take down: D
Description: Standing at 170cm and wearing cloth armor, these patrol units constantly perform a sweep of the camp and the landscape, moving at a steady walk over a predictable route. They each carry a D tier spear and move with extreme balance.
Abilities:

  • Signal The Clan: If a patrol sees an enemy they will whistle the other patrols in the area to it’s aid.
  • Defiance: The patrol blocks a C tier attack, or two D tier attacks.

Hi Ani. I like tacos.

Amaya sighed, the burdensome task of schlepping her carcass around the trees near the dilapidated temple proving no easy task. The terrain was much more difficult around here than she had accounted for, Still, she knew the mercantile guild payed well, it was just a matter of whether or not she'd be able to bring herself back in time if they were seen. Of course, there was always the possibility of Hoyo bailing her out, but she'd elected to request that Ani leave the giant lizard at a safe, but reachable distance just in case the pair needed some relief. The fact that she'd relied on Ani for this was something that still shocked her, Although given her other options at the moment, the Imuchakk was far and away the most reliable decision she could have made in that instance. Nahvi was far too loud, and Vardreth had his own company to lead. Still, Ani was by no means a bad choice. The simple fact of the matter was that Amaya wanted to avoid being caught if at all possible, and a 10 meter behemoth wasn't exactly applicable to that.

The density of the trees along the riverfront thinned out, gently studded with rubble as the woman progressed through the trees, tugging Ani along behind her. She stopped quietly, pushing into Ani's waist as she ground the train to a halt. Peeking over the ridge of the rubble she saw the first raider. No more than a young boy. Her heart sank as she came to the slow realization that this was more than likely the only real chance he had been afforded at a decent standard of living. Still, the world was cruel, and Amaya needed to provide for herself as well. She turned her gaze back to Ani, and then slipped around the rubble, motioning her to continue in a different direction.

The morning wasn't as kind as the previous had been, or rather, the morning was fine, it was the unusual stench of a multitude of beasts that was unsettling to the woman. Still, she pushed her body up from the frame of the bedroll without a sound slipping amidst the decaying branches beneath her feet to her armor, the garb still gently warmed from the fires last night. With less sound than the morning breeze she clothed herself, straps and buckles tucked neatly into place before her scarf fell around her neck. With the first sound of the morning, she dropped some more wood on the fire and hung a pot over it. The job was still down river quite a way, and it would be a shame to start it without proper food.

With a gentle kick to the ribs she nudges the Imuchakk woman awake, staring apathetically as she comes too. "Come on. Eat. We have a job to do." she pauses, "and try not to walk as loud as you snore." For the first time in their acquaintance, Amaya smiled, suppressing a laugh. "You'll get us caught."

Amaya's Loadout:

  Name: Nightingale
  Tier: D
  Type: Bladed Scarf
Material: This weapon is made of a loose fitting fabric meant to disguise the weapon that lies beneath. The weapon is cored beneath the fabric with a segmented steel rod, that is large enough to provide structure, yet still nimble enough to move with near fluidity (Each of these bars is small, roughly 5-6cm in length) The inside of the scarf is affixed with leather mounts sewn into the fabric that hold a plethora of small razor blades spanning the scarfs width. Uncommonly, Amaya has removed some of these razor blades and affixed knives, complimenting her dance-like style of fighting with the tiniest bit of added range.
Appearance: The scarf is nearly black in hue, appearing entirely mundane on the outside with two iron rings at each end to serve as ornamentation. The scarf is 15 cm wide and 136cm long, allowing it to conceal the razors effectively, and the knives as well is coiled properly. The total length of the scarf is extended by an additional 4cm for each iron ring, providing Amaya a handhold

Each razor on the lethal face is roughly 10cm in length, and 2cm in width, and their length runs the width of the scarf every 12cm and they are mounted in leather casings. they can be easily replaced if broken, and the leather is easy to mend.

Of the 11 places where razors would be affixed, places 2,6,and 10 have been substituted with 20cm knives that are 5cm thick at the base and taper like daggers. These hang freely, and perform slashing motions as she spins the scarf around.

The final (roughly) 8 cm of each end are left untouched, as to prevent any noise of the razors from colliding with potential armor.

       Name: Frost Pick

       Magic Type: Ice
Appearance: An elegant dagger with a thin blade that tapers swiftly to a sharp point. The weapon is .5m long and has a magic circle engraved onto the flat of the blade.
       Function:

Magic Type: Light
Appearance: A 10 cm amulet in the shape of wings set with a brilliant gem that appears like holy light. The magic circle is inscribed on the back.

Ani hadn't expected the woman to ask her on a job, and was a bit surprised when it actually came to doing the mission. The specifics didn't bother her or anything and was rather excited to the mission. This would give her a chance to sate her curiosity about the girl, and  enjoy a good fight possibly. When it came down to it she thought that the mission seemed pretty straight forward to the Imuchakk. So she only decided to bring the essentials with her on the mission. Of course her beast Hoyo, and her magical spear. They were important to her fighting style, which usually resulted in her riding Hoyo and attacking in tandem from above, or fighting side by side using her spear to zone the enemies. Though this time around it would most likely be the latter Ani had already decided based on the general terrain of where they were going, along with the type of Strategy Amaya had set for them. At the moment she slipped around the trees looking around while constantly making silent motions with her hands behind her, using these hands to quietly communicate with her lizard who was about 20 meters behind the two of them. Ani knew that even if the beast couldn't see her it would sense them using its electrolocation to keep track of the two.

Ani crouched somewhat as she made her way through the trees following Amaya since this was her job after all, so she would let Amaya lead, but if needed she would use her abilities as a slightly more experienced adventurer to help complete the mission to the best of their abilities. She smiled somewhat as she looked at Amaya's back thinking a bit about her comrade. Even if she was a bit crude at their first meeting she found the girl rather interesting and amusing, she was sure that the two of them would get along well and hopefully would be able to become permanent allies after getting to know one another better. As they got closer to their destination Ani reached back somewhat making sure that her spear was safely strapped to her back so she would be able to take it out at a moments notice. She nodded to herself and before looking back ahead before feeling Amaya press into her, which if she wasn't in the middle of a mission would've been a great opportunity to enjoy her company. She looked down and saw the boy, but she didn't feel bad as she learned from life in both Imuchakk and Heliohapt that the world was rough and you had to do what you needed to do. She turned her gaze to Amaya when she looked at her and gave a soft nod in confirmation to her signals before slipping around the other side of the rubble. A pincer attack seemed rather affective, and slowly slipped the spear off of her back and into right hand holding it behind her. She was ready to attack at any moment, her spear ready and Hoyo nearby incase Ani needed to call him. Her blood was boiling, and she could feel her desire for battle rising a bit with each step on the ground she took.

Ani woke up with a slight yawn, stretching as she got up from beneath her bedroll. She wasn't wearing much, just a leather brassiere and a pair of cloth undershorts that functioned as her undergarments as well. As her muscular frame stretched he pale skin shone under what little sunlight came through the trees this morning. She slowly walked towards her equipment her body was muscular from training and plump in all the right places from her Imuchakk heritage. This complimented her tall frame, and eyeful face. She heard her comment on the snoring and chuckled softly as she turned her head back to the woman, smiling and slowly slipping her azure locks into a ponytail. "Sorry about that, it must be the ground." She said as she slipped her longer pair of leather shorts on tightening the belt straps as she hummed softly. "Usually I don't make much noise unless there's another with me in my bedding." The hedonistic woman said as she gave a quick wink to the other woman before picking up her leather armor top.and strapping it on to complete the set.

She nodded to her other comment strapping on her sandals before walking over to Hoyo first. She opened up one of the pouches on her belt throwing the beast a few pieces of her homemade snacks to sate the beast for awhile till when they could get a better meal later on. She grabbed herself a decent sized portion of the cooked food eating while running a few small scenarios through her head so she could try to prepare herself a bit mentally for the upcoming job. "It's a bit exciting to work with people again"

"When your castles of sand crumble into the ocean, will you stand by that which you held in slendor, or will you fade like the beautiful lie you lived in?"

1/3 Patrols slain // 140/160 S

The woman sighs gently, letting the scarf flow from around her neck and into her hands, the gentle weight silently slipping as the daggers hung free like drops of rain against the charcoal sky. She sighed gently, knowing that ultimately what she was going to do would spare the boy both the consequence of his failure, and more than likely a lifetime in poverty as well. Perhaps it was the lack of her own emotional capacity that lead to her decision, or simply just her own coping mechanism for her issues, but her conviction stayed, silent over the tumult beneath. She walked herself through the kill in her mind. She would slip behind the boy, hooking her foot underneath his own swiftly, ripping his balance out from underneath him. Then, with nothing more than a whip of her waist, it would be over, and he would slip on to the other side. Simple, quiet, and ever so perfect. Yes, he would die. And he would die by her hand. Her lips split into an eerie smile, the air rushing past her nostrils as she inhaled sharply, eyes wild with the thrill of chasing her newfound prey.

The girl suddenly broke into a sprint, the shift in momentum almost instantaneous as she brought herself alongside the boy. Her foot swept out and around, her shin crashing into the boy's ankle as she rolled past him, her hips spiraling the scarf around his neck, another sharp flick lining the medial dagger up against the curvature of his throat. With a wild grin, the predator suddenly spun her foot atop his back and shoved they boy down the rest of the way, rupturing his larynx with the dagger, the satisfying crunch of his now lifeless body hitting the mulch and the slow spread of red into the dirt leaving the woman enraptured. She spun herself upright from her prone position, the smile still lingering on her face as she shoved her boot into the boy's side, rolling him over. She flicked her scarf, ripping the blade from his neck with a soft crack. She chuckled a bit at this, realizing she had hit his spine in the process. Another quick spin, and the blood was flung from the blade as the accessory wound itself back around her neck. She knelt by the bandit, her hand swiftly flashing to the boy's shirt as she cut a healthy chunk of the fabric off and stuffing his throat with it. She then rolled his corpse from the path before disappearing to the other side, opposite of Ani.

When the woman had crossed the trail, Amaya spent a length of time in silence, simply staring at the woman before letting the eerie smile return. "There should be two more..." Her shoulder's finally relax, a small trail of blood left across her shin guard from the force of her impact against the first. She pauses, turning back to stare at Hoyo. "I think I know the perfect way to get them away from the entrance of the temple..." She sighs. "Too bad we can't simply turn you loose to hunt the poor runts. We don't want the whole bandit camp to know we've shown up after all."  Her gaze slowly returns to the boy, taking in the appearance of his garb, and the subtle intricacies from the patterns across his sandals. The raider's certainly had been at this a while. The boy's sandal's were obviously from the south of Kou, but the fur that lined the hem of his scarf would betray that it came from the north. Whatever presence they had signed up to fight was certainly no one time occurrence, nor were they an inexperienced lot.

"Ani," her voice was sudden, but still quiet. "The remaining two should either be stationed at the entrance, or making a similar patrol path. Hoyo will find them, and attempt to lure them too us. Our goal is to remove them from the equation so we can observe the bandit camp, rather than attract the attention of the entire temple." Her eye's narrow. "I expect this to work." Without another sound, she turns back to scouring the corpse, trying to learn anything she can from his clothing and possessions.

Ani smirked when she saw the woman confirming that she had handled the other bandit. She listened to her idea and observation of how things were most likely going. She pulled out her spear and held it to her side as she gave a soft nod to her while humming softly. "Mm that does sound like a reasonable assumption, but let me handle this upcoming part." Ani was someone who hunted and lived in the wilderness for the longest time. She cracked her knuckles and walked forward for a moment before having Hoyo walk close to them before taking a few steps forward. "Watch this." She said as she motioned to Hoyo. The giant lizard sat there peacefully and quietly using his electrolocation. Hoyo hissed to Ani before she jumped onto the creatures back. "Be back soon!"

Hoyo had sensed that they were on patrol and could tell what location they were walking towards. Hoyo soon dashed forward hiding in the foliage once again as they began their hunt. Soon enough the bandits on patrol were getting close to were the boy had been.  It wasn't long until Ani was coming up behind them, he moved at the speed of a fanalis. Before the bandits could even turn around Ani leaped off of Hoyo and towards one of them. Hoyo himself leaped towards the other bandit.  Ani wrapped her legs around the bandits neck. She squeezed her thighs tightly around the neck to silence him, while Hoyo had leaped onto the other bandit from behind sinking his teeth into his neck before twisting and snapping his neck. Ani kept choking the man before driving her spear into the top of his head.

Once the body went limp Ani jumped off of the bandit and Hoyo walked away as well licking his lips and chewing the chunks he had bitten off of the man. She walked back over to her companion cleaning the tip of the spear as she walked closer to Amaya. "A great hunt is rather fulfilling and if you wanna get rid of the bodies we can feed them to Hoyo."

"When your castles of sand crumble into the ocean, will you stand by that which you held in slendor, or will you fade like the beautiful lie you lived in?"
Extra Words
IDK I want tacos still.

Amaya was...confused, although the variety of reasons for her perplexed reaction to the situation of the outift was...justified. Primarily, she was confused on just how many guards this outfit could afford. An operation that was both illegal, and based in violent coercion running only three guards? It seemed a little to convenient. She forced herself to think, concluding that the main force had likely set out already, and that they could be back at any moment.

She nodded to the Imuchakk, sighing gently. The pair had dispatched the guards with relative ease, and that was something she would give them due credit for, although her opinion on eating the bodies to dispose of them was...less than ideal. Still, there was an air of efficiency about it, and that was something she greatly appreciated."Do what you deem necessary," the woman hushed, "but keep it quiet. I'd prefer to be able to collect my pay from the job I signed up for, rather than doing more work." Amaya pointed towards the river line, where the hints of incoming boats could be seen. And with that, it was settled, the two quietly removing themselves from the scene to report back to the mercantile. //Exit//

"Fair enough, I'll see if I can train my lizard or even breed another pet for the purposes of stealthier missions." She said patting her beast knowing that Hoyo was strong, fast, and could be quiet though his size was still not optimal should it come to the point that they are in smaller places. Regardless she shrugged and motioned for Hoyo to eat the guards on the way. He nodded and lifting the bodies into his mouth and eating them as slowly as possible as they went about their business. Ani could see the boats that were coming and nodded softly to her partner soon following her back home.
