Shangrila, the Witch Doctor's Vault Baronne_samedi_by_bisart-d5jn4i8

Name: Shangrila (Shon-Gree-La)

Country Affiliation: Heliohapt

Race: Magician - Heat

Tier: D

Class: Mage

Age + Birthdate: 36

Gender: Female

Sexuality: Bisexual (Don't even think about it)

Personality:

Shangrila is a master of deception and trickery. She manipulates those around her to do her bidding. This could be done willingly or by force. She wishes nothing but ill will to those around her. Turning people onto themselves such as family is what she does best. This is why she works towards bringing slavery back into the modern day life. One would have to have a certain aura around them in order to convince Shangrila that one would be even worthy of a conversation with herself. Her ultimate goal is self-salvation and wishes to achieve it as soon as possible, she does not need to waste her time on petty ignorance. She really just considers herself higher than everyone else.

Within combat, the voodoo priestess has been known to make people angry. As she moves within her deceptive magic, she taunts with a wicked grin. Enough of this can make any hot-headed person fill the air with enough steam to burn through the ozone. She throws attacks from where someone wouldn't expect them. She won't accept duels, fools have friendly battles to test who's more powerful, and she believes herself to be beyond the idiocy that comes with natural human instinct. It all comes down to her fear of death although.

Likes:

Parlor Tricks - The thought of parlor tricks always intrigues Shangrila. Cheap tricks can always give the witch doctor a giggle. She's seen it all in the end of it although. However, she likes them more once she gets her own turn to perform such feats. Her entire life is based around trickery after all.

Manipulation - Her wording is malotic and sincere, she can easily manipulate anyone into doing her bidding. Although it works often, it would always bring a smile upon her purple lips.

Success - Losing was out of the question with the Raven. Her opponents are supposed to be malleable and wrap around her fingers like snakes.

Dislikes:

Meat - As powerful of a wizard Shangrila is, she has one weakness. That weakness is meat. She hates everything about it. The smell of cooking animal meat makes her sick.

The Sun - She's always hated the feeling of the sun and intense heat shining down on her for some odd reason.

Dueling - Dueling, to her is tomfoolery. Only idiots duke it out without killing intent.

Aspirations:

To Become Immortal - Shangrila follows an ancient religion that is described within the temple she resides in. In her temple it describes she can live forever as an everlasting immortal being. She wishes for self-salvation. To do this, she needs to impress the spirits of the damned she believes to be the Black Rukh. She would need to turn enough white rukh into black, tampering with the fates of others. Unfortunately, her temple doesn't describe how to do it, and therefore her first steps into the waters would be learning different types of curse magic. Although this aspiration is impossible, it's what she believes in.

Phobias/fears:

Death - Shangrila never wants to fall. It's why she believes in the ideals of immortality. Just thinking of the infinite darkness and the potential for her to become a spirit of the Rukh sickens her down to the core. Those who threaten death upon her often earn a taunting laugh from her, but secretly her body would be enveloped within goose bumps. Although this fear may be a natural instinct to some people, to her, it would be so much more.

Face-Claim: Baronne Samedi

Hair Color: Black

Eye Color: Golden

Height: 195 cm

Weight: 81 kg

Appearance:
Shangrila is a naturally dark-skinned woman. Although an older woman(for a human at least), the age doesn't show upon her body. She still looks as if she was within her early-twenties. The skin would be a silky smooth to the brush of any fingers. No natural flaw, such as moles or birthmarks, would be on her being. It also shades nicely into the light. This was due to her magic interfering with the way the witch doctor would naturally age. Her magic was handy like that.

The body in which the witch doctor bore was nothing short of incredible. Standing at an antagonizing one hundred and ninety five centimeters tall (without the hat), she outscales most who would stand next to her. Usually being that tall had repercussions on how skinny someone would be. However, she somehow managed to refine herself with an incredibly attractive body. Her weight was unheard of as well, any old chum could scoop her up and run away with her (she'd probably kill him/her).

The voodoo caster's eyes were a beautiful golden. If you stared into them for too long, you'd think she was a snake based on the vertical slits she has for pupils. Her eyebrows are neatly plucked and angled correctly. Obviously, a lot of time has gone into them. Shangrila works well with make-up as her eye lashes are neatly cascaded. The wings work well with the unnatural amount of black eyeshadow she sports.

Shangrila's lips are a nice shade of dark purple. Upon her speaking, it would bring out the color of her bright white shiny chompers she keeps hidden under them. The woman's nose is small and supple, nothing out of the ordinary. Her ears are perfectly sized for the woman's face. Two bone-carved skulls hang from her ears as earrings. Always hanging from her mouth is a long-piped cigarette. You can always tell when she's around due to the odor it produces. It smells as a cart of sweetened cherries entered the area.

Of course you're wondering about the tattoo that is plainly splayed upon her face and thighs. The body-art is self-stitched into every limb of her body. It's cartoony shaped like a skeleton. Each body part matched that of the tattooed skeleton. Except, these markings are not always seen. They have a strange effect in that they're only visible in the dark. They glow bright white upon tasting the essence of the black. It actually shows through her clothing. So in the plain darkness, you'd see a skeleton with a top-hat flaunting around.

Dressing the witchdoctor's head is a large magicians top-hat. The very top layer of it is torn and creased upwards. On top of the bottom rim of the hat is a shaped white skull that's engraved within the hat. Off the side of it are a couple strands of hay that stick upwards like a weed. Although mostly for show, she sometimes pulls a rabbit or two out of the hat. The hat covers her buzzed down hair. It looked as if it would belong to a male.

Down to her main clothing, Shangrila wears a flashy long-sleeved overcoat. The overcoat's rear flaps are shredded and torn. Underneath doth lye a corset and a tight white shirt. Shoulder pads keep her shoulders so straight. The whole overcoat is decorated and imbued with different kinds of carved bone, such as the buttons and the frontal stitching. Beads string in funky patterns around her waste. Hanging out of her sleeves are baggy cloths. Dressing her hands are white dress gloves.

Her lower body leaves little to the imagination. She doesn't officially wear pants, and therefore her upper thighs are quite exposed. Her womanly parts are covered however. Her rear is covered by the torn overcoat. Striped thigh-high socks crawled up her shapely legs. They're held up with connecters on the front and back of her thighs that reach up and attach to the lower overcoat. Her feet are covered with shiny large high-heeled boots. She's worn them long enough to have figured out how to run at normal speeds with them and not trip.

Rukh Alignment: Black

Special Features: Spooky Scary Skeletons - Shangrila has self-done glow-in-the-dark tattoos that glow through her clothing and often reveal where she is in the dark. It looks as if she's a Skeleton in a top-hat in complete darkness. They're works of magic that drain no magoi.

The Mind of the Old, Yet the Body of the Young - Shangrila uses ancient magics to maintain a younger body. She looks to be in her early twenties rather than her late thirties.

History: BEFORE YOU READ, KNOW THAT LORE ON TERRAIN ABNORMALITIES AND SUCH CAN AND WILL BE FURTHER EXPLAINED LATER ON WITHIN PLOT

Shangrila was born within the confines of Heliohapt. Her birth parents were both slaves. Therefore, with a snap of the fingers, she was labeled a piece of property. However, they were both mages within secret. She grew up a dull child, and didn't do much other than eat, sleep, and work. The social interactions of the witch doctor were to a minimum. It's why when she was separated from her original parents, did she not cry.

She was placed under the care of an old woman, another slave, who wished the best for Shangrila. The slave's name was Pharah. They lived on the uppermost peninsula of Heliohapt, close to the borders of Reim, right next to the ocean. The future witch doctor did what she was told for the most part, except, she continued to be as emotionless as a statue. She taught the girl everything she needed to know to survive, along with how to read and write.

Pharah, however, had plans of escape. Plans to break the binds that held them together. Not to far from the city they had been chained to was a thick and cursed jungle. People would walk in and wouldn't come out. Even thinking about entering would be considered a sin. The guards had used the jungle as punishment, knowing all that of who had been forced into the midst of it, would die. Men have tried to cut the brush down, but caught a strange incurable disease that would lead to inevitable death.

One night, Pharah took Shangrila's hand and ran as fast as her old bones could take her. The girl had no resistance as usual, just doing what she was told. The jungle was evil, and it was known. She lost her husband to the thick brush of the forbidden forest. The guards saw the two escaping, however would not follow them into the curse that was a jungle in the midst of the desert.

Shangrila saw Black Rukh swarming around her with every step they took. They must've run at least twenty miles into the forest before Pharah couldn't take anymore. She fell to the floor with a thud, and died. The witch doctor had been abandoned. She must've stood there for a whole two hours before something sparked within her. A will to live.

The youngling ended up running even farther into the forest, following trails of Black Rukh. It led to a dark and mysterious ancient temple. It had been touched by the forest. Vines and weeds grew amongst the cracks within the stone. It was a ziggurat temple. She quickly entered it and made it her home. Over the years, she survived off bugs, snakes, and unfiltered ground water.

Books that looked as if they were from a millennia ago scattered the floors. They weren't translated into the language the witch doctor knew best. Hieroglyphics engraved within the walls told stories that Shangrila would often spend her nights thinking and wondering what they meant. Her dreams remained blank however.

One day, the once-slave had been hunting for food around the temple. She tripped over a rock within a stream. She picked up the rock and was about to throw it in anger, however as it passed over her head, she saw writing on it. It turned out to be a translation for the ancient language within the temple. Within seconds, the witch doctor began reading her little heart out.

It also went into detail onto how the accursed forest came about. The story started with a mage of old, a slave keeper, a once follower of Heliohaptian rituals and gods. He declared that when he died, he would be buried in a temple, and a place of life would sprout around him.. and so it did.

The books described that the butterflies that only certain people could see were the spirits of the damned. Those who couldn't pass onto the afterlife. This, scared the witch doctor. Making the fearless woman fear one thing, and that was death. However, it spoke of how one could escape the hell of passing. It spoke of immortality. The scriptures weren't correct of course, but in the mind of a hermit, it could make an imagination go wild. She learned that she had been a mage. Someone who could use abilities to empower herself and become stronger.

The books described magic, but failed to show how to channel and use them correctly. Curse magic is what it was called. To temper with ones fate. In order to ascend to immortality, she must impress the dead and prove that she'd be a worthy candidate for everlasting life. She would have to make the happy auras of white butterflies surrounding people turn dark. This self-salvation and greed flowed throughout her. The evils of the temple had taken her.

For decades did she train and harness her magic. When it was finally time to start her journey out of the thick brush of a home she loved so much, she would be thirty-two. The age of a mother. However, age never caught up with her. She remained young, her new-found magic did wonders. Instead of coming out a hermit who had no social skills, she was actually a manipulative socialite. Strange to say, but the loneliness didn't craze her. Despite being a quiet child, she learned a thing or two. Now she roams in search of forbidden magic.

Role-Play Sample:

The witches evil laughter echoed within the smokes of her magic. Glowing skeletons that would look much like the ones tattooed on Shangrila's body taunted the man left and right. He would use his swords and swing at the skeletons, but they were merely illusions, casted by the she-devils magic. Every swing made each skeleton disappear with a poof, only for another to appear on the other side of him. A taunting laugh sounded through the smoke, mocking the mans very being. The madness of it all would soon overcome him.

As the man would get angrier and angrier, the witch doctor would laugh harder and harder. Suddenly, with a swift dash and stab to the neck would he go down.
