Job Overview: In the desert surrounding Heliohapt are ruins of pyramids, temples, and lost societies. Visit one of these ruins and investigate for the Historical Society. Bring back at least one tome and one artifact and the Historical Society will reward you.
The sands shifted beneath Ammons feet. He glanced down into the guarded sink hole that lead to a possible tomb. The historical society wanted to uncover it completely and learn its wonders. While the temple of Anubis wished not to disrupt the grave. How many times had they fought over such things.
Ammon shook his head and approached saying not a single word. His arm band tattoo identified him to the well aware guards. They nodded and he proceeded sliding into the tomb. He shook himself out once down. More than a little sand nestling uncomfortably on his body. His unlit torch in hand.
He walked the crippled halls his steps echoing in the darkness. He held no light because he knew the traps had already been sprung. Historical society his ass. They were official looters was all. However all parties had to be happy if this tomb was to know true peace.
He stepped into a room where his footsteps echoed. He knew immediately despite the darkness he was in the burial chamber. A simple one to be sure. He finally reached into his pocket for flint. He lit the torch and propped it into a sconce. The sudden light almost blinding.
He walked over to the grave and stood there. He was tempted to simply leave it alone and take what he needed to pacify the society. However he knew better than that.
"His hair is Nu; his face is Ra; his eyes are Hathor; his ears are Wepwawet; his nose is She who presides over her lotus leaf; his lips are Anubis; his molars are Selkis; his incisors are Isis the goddess; his arms are the Ram, the Lord of mendes; his breast is Neith, Lady of Sais; his back is Seth; his phallus is Osiris; his muscles are the Lords of Kheraha; his chest is he who is greatly majestic; his belly and his spine are Sekhmet; his buttocks are the Eye of Horus; his thighs and my calves are Nut; his feet are Ptah; his toes are living falcons; there is no member of his devoid of a god, and Thoth is the protection of all his flesh," Ammon spoke.
A prayer of protection over the tomb and the dead mans body. Once finished he turned and looked about the tomb. A small shelf in a corner held a lightly mouse eaten scroll. He walked over and grabbed it. He opened it slightly and deemed it not very important.
He looked around once more and grabbed a small statuette. No doubt a representation of a slave. Though he knew for a fact slaves were suppose to be buried with their masters. So either he was a poor man trying to become rich or a richman whose slave escaped. Hard to tell. Either was a scroll and statuette should be enough to calm the historical society.
Placing scroll under arm and statuette in one hand Ammon grabbed the torch and headed back. He did not care to trip and break his take artifacts. It took several minutes but he eventually trekked his way back into the world of the sun.
There he snuffed the torch in the sand and turned to watch several historical society members ride or walk up. They looked displeased at the sight of him being here. Though none made a move.
"Why are you here," said what Ammon could only assume to be the ring master this time.
"To place rites on a disturbed tomb. And reseal it from prying eyes," Ammon answered earning a scoff. "We know you would not leave it be however."
"Damn right we won't," one hissed from the back.
"That is why I have brought these from the tomb. With permission," Ammon said motioning with the statuette. He held it out along with the scroll.
"One ancient text and one artifact should sate your curiousity," Ammon continued as the man took them. "Deal?"
"It will do," the man said sounding put out. But he had to know he could not go against the priests of a god. He took the items and left.
Ammon turned to the guards. "Start sealing it back up with the sand," he commanded. Turning back around he started walking after the historical society members at a fair distance back into the city.
