1 Set on 16/10/16, 02:07 am

Name: Set

Country Affiliation: Magnostadt

Race: Magician - Water

Tier: D

Class: Magician

Age + Birthdate: 26 | January 13th

Gender: Male

Sexuality: Heterosexual

Personality:
  • The Prince - The true side of Set. The way he speaks is charming and genuinely kind. He cares for those close to him, especially his missing sister. Even willing to lay down his life for them. His demeanor is quite happy and well-mannered. This side is also quite forgiving and empathetic to other people. He always tends to worry a lot while in this side which sometimes stresses him out a bit. Set tends to follow rules to the exact word as it gives him a sense of guidance.

  • The Devil - The dark side of Set. This side comes out in certain situations where he is in danger. It serves as a defense mechanism for his fragile mind. He tends to be quite sadistic and masochistic. Taking delight in pain inflicted on himself and others. Set tends to be quite cruel and demeaning. Often careless and quick to discard others. Contrary to his carelessness he is mindful of what he does which makes this side less dangerous than it comes off to be. He wouldn't let himself break the rules so easily which carries over from his true side.

  • Two Hearts - He tends to sometimes experience depression or anxiety under high stress. Becoming uninterested in simple tasks or simply being too on edge to preform them. This only occurs when he is reminded of the trauma he endured in the past. Masks tend to invoke these feelings more than anything. Set does not like talking about his past to others and will tend to making up obvious lies about it.

  • Just Enough - Set is the type of person who doesn't like putting in more effort than needed. Whether it's a job, classwork, or a simple errand he will always do the bare minimum. No matter how much motivation he gets he wouldn't step his game up. Only certain people can get him to up his work ethic but it could take a while depending on who it is.

  • What? Where? - There are two types of people in this world. Those who are organized and those who are not. Set is one of those people who are not. Whether it be something as simple as putting away clothes or making a shopping list. He never seems to be able to organize himself quite right. Tending to forget important dates or keep his belongings tidy. Some who are disorganized know where their things are when they leave them somewhere. Meanwhile he probably could lose his bed and not remember where he left it.

Likes:
  • Writing - Set enjoys writing. Whether it's a good story or a life journal. Unfortunately he's a horrible writer due to his lack of education in the field. His handwriting is barely legible and his spelling is atrocious.

  • Sour Fruit - He often snacks on sour fruit such as lemons or limes. Having a high tolerance for sour things means the more bitter the better.

  • Music - The gift of music is a wonderful thing. Since he was a child he was always mesmerized by traveling bards and their talents. Set is decently skilled with the lyre and an amateur at playing the harp. While he doesn't write his own music he managed to memorize some songs and can read a bit of sheet music.

  • Drinking - Though he's a super lightweight he enjoys a drink every now and then. Being a lightweight, if he drinks even half a cup he's usually out of commission for the time being. Not being able to hold his alcohol is better for him than he thinks.

  • Drama - Set enjoys his share of exciting events. Whether it be dangerous or harmless. Deep down he enjoys his share of violence. Showing this more when he is in his alternate state. He likes to listen to people gossip and spread rumors but doesn't usually participate in it himself.

Dislikes:
  • Morning - Waking up early in the morning isn't something Set is a fan of. He tends to be quite grumpy for a few hours after he's woken up at an earlier time. He'd prefer to sleep in until noon if given the option.

  • Touching - Physical contact tends to make him nervous. He doesn't like being even remotely touched by strangers and will only let certain people touch him. Set will also only seek physical interaction with those close to him. If needed to he will force himself to do acts like shaking a hand or helping someone up.

  • Sharpness - In his normal state he tends to feel uncomfortable around sharp objects such as knives. After being assaulted in his past and experiencing life threatening wounds he is quite wary around things that are able to cut him. In his other state it is quite the opposite. Cutting himself can trigger his other state which is also why he refrains from doing so.

  • Dolls - The dislike for dolls originates from the trauma he experienced. They slightly remind him of the masked man who attacked him but not enough for him to fear them.

  • Working - A weak work ethic comes with a common dislike for actually working. He'd just rather not. Set would rather do nothing than work but understands it's something that has to be done.

Aspirations:
  • Finding Family - Set would do anything in the world to find his sister again. After the events that occurred when they were younger he has been on a search for her since. Being taken away from her while she was so young leaves him uncertain if she is even still alive but is extremely optimistic. His sister is quite important to him and it stresses him out when he thinks about her still being missing. Set is always trying to find leads or even the slightest bit of information about Rima in order to contact her.

  • Magic Instructor - Despite his lack of motivation to work he took an interest in wanting to teach magic to his own class of students. Often joking with the instructors to let him teach a class for them. He doesn't work quite hard enough to achieve this goal but his teachers see his potential. They push him to work harder but only occasionally does he listen to their advice. He is confident once he graduates from the academy it'll be practically handed to him. Unaware of how wrong he actually is.

Fears:
  • Hidden Faces - Due to the torture that induced trauma onto Set by the masked man, he absolutely despises any type of mask or veil that hides the face. If he can not see a persons face it will freak him out. It makes him horrified enough to switch into his other state or even freeze up completely. He may even flee the scene completely. In the event of him going into his other state he will be a lot more aggressive as it bothers him the most.

  • Open Ocean - During his trip to Magnostadt, he had to travel on a boat quite a bit of times. All of those times he stayed in the lower decks to calm himself. The vast ocean makes him nervous. From the threat of drowning to being stranded is enough to prevent him from going onto a boat unless he absolutely has to. Even fish creep him out. Especially carnivorous sea life that could endanger his life if he were in the ocean. Set will also tend to stay away from sea food because of it tending to smell of the ocean.

Set will almost never be seen wearing a hat as he believes it would ruin his hair.

Rukh Alignment: White

Special Features:
  • Set's chest and biceps have quite a bit of large scars on them. His forehead is lined with star-shaped birth marks and his ear lobes are pierced.

History:
  • Born a few weeks after the start of the new year in the midst of winter. A gifted child, a young magician with wondrous power hidden away. Set was the name given to him after his late grandfather. He was raised in a small, poor village with his single mother. A very young woman from Heliohapt who had an affair with a man from Kou. She tried her best to raise him and teach him the right thing but tended to be absent a lot due to her work. As he got older he began becoming more independent and rebellious. Set wasn't well behaved as a child. Often doing what he wanted rather than listening to his mother. This resulted in her getting a lot of judgment from their neighbors and fellow villagers. His behavior stopped when he turned seven and his mother remarried. The household felt more stable for the young boy and his new father treated him well. This was also the age he learned he could use magic. Afraid of this power he pushed it aside for a few years. After coming to terms with his differences he kept it a secret, practicing it where no one would ever see.

A lot changed when his sister was born earlier that winter in the cold month of December. It was a stormy night. The home his father built for them was hold up well against the blizzard as he struggled to keep the home warm. When she was born he was the proudest he'd ever felt in his life. Since that day he promised he would keep her safe from harm and fulfill everything a brother could. Their mother pulled Set aside one day. Explaining that they would have to leave Rima to him for a while. Set didn't quite understand what she meant. She kissed him on the forehead and embraced him for the last time. He said his goodbyes, expecting them to come back but they never did. He was all alone with Rima. The task of raising her was on his shoulders now. So everyday he would spent hours on end with her. Reading her stories he wrote, secretly showing her what little magic he could conjure, or simply just talking to her. As she got older he felt obligated to teach her everything he knew. He would give her books and would instruct her in simple reading which she seemed to enjoy.

It wasn't long until she first discovered magic at the same age he did. Set was an adult now at the age of sixteen. No longer as ignorant as he was about the world. Knowing it was dangerous to practice magic out in the open he made her promise to only use it at home. Even though she could only use healing magic he was still fearful for her safety. The villagers were ignorant about magicians and would be quick to label them as monsters. So he took the free time he could to teach her everything he knew about using magic and about the rukh. Stories he heard from travelers that passed by or from books he got a hold of every now and then. Set would spend a lot of his time working on a nearby farm to support her. He did everything he could to spoil her and make sure she lived a good life. Though he dreaded his work he would always have a smile on his face. The villagers appreciated how hard he worked so he never quite ran out of jobs to do no matter how small they were.

A year had passed and it was the beginning of a new year. The sun was setting and everyone was beginning to close shop for the day. There wasn't much time to run to the bakery but Rima had wanted bread to go with the bland soup they were eating that night. Set had a bit of coin left from the weekly pay so he decided to see if the bakery was still open. After a bit of convincing he was able to get a loaf as the man was closing his shop. On his way home he was stopped by a tall man with a white mask. There was a creepy, smiling face carved into it with not much detail. Set felt quite uneasy. Trying to dodge around his words to get away and home as quickly as possible. The man was persistent and charming enough to convince Set to follow him down the road. Despite his heart telling him to run, he kept going.

"Your sister... She's so pure... beautiful..," said the man in a pained voice that was mixed with delight as he tried to provoke Set, "Don't mind if I... kill her... do you?" His words cut through Set like a sharp blade. He dropped the bag he was holding to try and grab a rake resting on one of the buildings nearby in order to use it as a staff. The man was facing away from him yet knew he was up to something, throwing a dagger at Set's hand. It landed, piercing through his palm. The pain sent shock waves up his arm making him retract it to himself. Pulling the dagger out of his hand, he threw it to the side. Blood dripped off his hand onto the soil below. "No?" the man purred, turning around to face Set. "I suppose I'll have to kill you instead," he said as he quickly dashed towards Set before he had time to react. Slashing him vertically across the chest leaving a gaping wound. Set stumbled back trying to comprehend what happened. "How... So fast..," he coughed as blood erupted from his chest and through his mouth. The pain was unbearable. He felt like vomiting and fainting at the same time. The dizziness from blood loss began to cloud his vision. "Don't die now. I want to play some more," the man cooed, lifting Set's head up with his finger. The young man collapsed onto the floor in a pool of his own blood.

Later he found himself tightly bound in the middle of an empty room. His eyes flickered as he began to awaken from the long slumber he was in. He tried to speak but his words came out slurred and intelligible. As his vision cleared he looked down at his body. The vertical wound he had gotten before was but a deep scar running down his chest. What seemed like thick, metal, serrated strips tightly dug into his skin. They were wrapped around the upper parts of his arms and horizontally around his chest. He didn't feel quite bound but the pain settling in was enough to make him grit his teeth and fall to the floor screaming in agony. Every breath he took only dug them in deeper. He heard laughter in the background coming from multiple different people. Then footsteps that became louder and louder before a pair of black shoes stopped in front of his face. As he looked up, tears streaming down his face, he saw the masked man yet again. The twisted smile forever ingrained into his mind.

"Where is she?!" screamed Set in a worried tone, demanding an answer. He prayed to every god he knew that she was still alive. Thoughts raced through his head of all of the things that could have happened. His heart pounded in his head, picking up pace. The man simply tilted his head and replied, "Find out for yourself." The tone in his voice was cruel and unforgiving. Not knowing the answer he was looking for made Set extremely anxious and afraid for her safety. An anger rose in him and he attempted his best to lunge at the man. He simply stepped back and watched how the bindings tightened even tighter as Set pulled against them. Ripping deeper and twisting into his flesh. Set screamed in agony for a few minutes before passing out again from the pain. He spent weeks in the room. Constantly healed by a powerful magician to keep him alive. No matter the torture he was put under they would not let him die. Eventually they got bored toying with him and dumped his body in the wilderness. It had been a few hours since he was laying there on his way to the afterlife before he began to hear faint voices before he faded into black.

    "Hey! ... ..."
    "... still... ... alive... ..."
    "Save... ... please... ..."

Set jolted himself up, discovering that he was in a bed. Sweat dripped down his forehead, hyperventilating from the nightmare he awoke from. There was a woman sitting next to his bed looking at him in shock. She screamed when he grabbed her by her shirt. Realizing what he was doing he let her go. "Where am I..?" he asked, looking away from her. A few people busted through the door, breaths heavy. "What happened?" they questioned in a panic. The girl got up and ran to her friends crying. Set felt bad for startling her. He rested his forehead on his hand and sighed.

    "Sorry for scaring you."
    "I-It's alright..."
    "Where am I..?"
"We... saved you..! You were... dying out there..."

The girl sounded quite somber and nervous. She was probably still frightened of him and he didn't put it against her. It was almost unbelievable that this would happen to him. The last thing he could remember was being thrown onto the cold, hard dirt like a rag doll. Set felt a sense of relief finally being away from the masked man and his followers. "Thank you," he said, looking in their direction. His eyes lacking the faintest bit of emotion yet he was thankful. He didn't quite expect to feel so empty now that he was on the outside again. His scars throbbing with phantom pains. Set grabbed at his chest, scratching into his skin to stop the pain. The girl ran over to him and placed her hand on his back. He gently swatted her away and laid back down on the bed. Rolling over towards the wall and pulling the blankets over his head.

Later that day he finally found the energy to get up. The smell of actual food filled his nose and enticed his senses. He couldn't remember the last time he had eaten. Let alone eaten a good home cooked meal. As he made his way towards the scent, the girl from before bumped into him. He backed away from her to give himself some room. "S-sorry!" she said, bowing deeply. "I was just coming t-to get you for dinner!" Set just stared a hole into her. When she looked back up she quickly turned away from his gaze. "T-this w-way!" Set followed her into the dining area where they all sat down and ate a meal together. It was awkwardly silent with a few people trying to break the ice every now and then. He was so hungry that he practically scarfed down his meal. Since he ate too fast and from the lack of eating for so long, later that night he vomited everything he'd eaten. The same girl was there to take care of him, tending to his needs. Every time he would shoo her away.

After a few weeks of staying with his saviors he learned that they were all magicians. The older one helped him with his magic that he had a hard time using. Out of everyone in the group he was the only blue magician. They convinced him to join the academy in Magnostadt with them in order to use the magical knowledge learned there to find his sister. The boat rides to their destination were long and they braced through numerous storms to get there. Upon finally arriving at Magnostadt they managed to enroll into the academy. Set placed in the lowest Kodor due to his lack of training and frail body. His time spent in the academy will be the start of his adventure. Will he fail in his quest or accomplish greatness?

Role-Play Sample:
Something snapped inside of him as he gazed upon his reflection. His heart and mind felt twisted, unknown. All he wanted was to strangle the person in front of him. Set slipped his arms into the water holding his hands in front of him. No matter how hard he tried he couldn't grab it. Frustrated, he dug his nails into his chest, relishing in the agony. His crimson blood dripping into the pool of water. Licking his blood stained fingers, letting the blood sit in his mouth. Set looked back down at the fountain just to see his reflection again which calmed him down. The scratches on his chest suddenly felt uncomfortable and his heart heavy.

All he could see was someone he didn't know. Agitated, he swatted at the water, turning it to ice instantly and shattering it. A gentle hand rested itself on his back. It was familiar with a certain warmth radiating from it. The girl who had been looking after him never seemed to cease no matter how much he pushed her away. She always found her way to his side when he was at his worst. Part of him was disgusted by her and another part was thankful. He placed a hand on her shoulder before he walked off. She smiled innocently and trailed close behind him in his shadow.

Bumping this because I'm finally finished. I have permission from Rima to make him. His background is based off of a more revamped version of hers. Hope everything is alright!

Now that your character has been approved, its time to make your starting weapon. Well, in your case, staff/stave/wand. *This link will direct you to the staff/stave/wand templates*.

After you've made your staff/stave/wand, you'll need to know some abilities that you can use to fight an enemy. *The ability template is right here*.

Finally, have fun roleplaying Set!
