Hohotaro returns to the caravan triumphantly after he made short work of the bandits that was blocking the way. He smugly looks at his fellow guard's shocked and awed face. "What do you think guys? Easy right?" Hohotaro smirks.
The Caravan Leader saw everything from his wagon in front of the caravan train. "Hohotaro!" He shouted. "Come here." he calls out for Hohotaro.
Hohotaro rides his horse towards the Caravan expecting for a reward of some sort. He did a great job on those bandits he might get a bonus or maybe he'll be a leader or something. Hohotaro smiles as he approach the Caravan leader.
The caravan leader puffs his cigar as he motions for Hohotaro to come closer. Hohotaro complied and struts his horse closer. "Come closer." The caravan leader said as he waves his hand holding the cigar in between his fingers. Hohotaro complied.
The Caravan leader raised his hand and smacks Hohotaro right behind his head. The smug look was erased from Hohotaro's face completely and he was left scratching the back of his head. The caravan leader spoke as he points his finger on Hohotaro's chest. "I don't need no show-off on my guards. If you play that stunt again you'll be posted at the back of the caravan." The white haired man puffs on his cigar and breaths deeply. "Got that boy?" he then blows a thick smoke right on Hohotaro's face.
"Yeah yeah." Hohotaro replied.
The caravan leader smacked Hohotaro again. "What's that boy?"
"Yes sir!" Hohotaro responded and rides back to his post in front of the caravan.
Hohotaro got back to his post and the Mercenaries around him laughs and patted his back. "Haha! That's something kid!" One mercenary said as he pats Hohotaro on his back. "Yeah it's stupid, but you certainly proved yourself. Just don't do anything like that again. Eh?" The mercenary scuffled Hohotaro's hair and goes back in formation.
The ride of the caravan continues and they finally reached the first village they are supposed to deliver some wheat to. The caravan leader made the trade for the wheat and the caravan stayed in the village for the night.
The night is cold and relatively uneventful. Hohotaro wanted to go back to Ahmed's wagon but he have to stay with the guards because guarding the caravan during the night is also part of their duty.
The guards is sitting around a campfire eating gruel made from wild animals that they bought from the village hunters. The food was not as good compared to what Ahmed cook but it still fills your belly so Hohotaro can't complain much. Hohotaro managed to make some kind of bond with the other mercenaries. Hohotaro is friendly and easy to talk to so making bonds is easy for him, specially with the stunt he pulled earlier that day he was the topic of the discussion.
"You should've seen it! This kid here got surrounded by a hundred of those effing bandits and he stand there!" Said one mercenary trying to recount the story of Hohotaro's stupidity. "And then poof! One by one the bandits fall down. We can't see clearly what happened but believe me you! They just dropped like flies! Hahaha!" The stories kept on coming. It's being a little exaggerated but Hohotaro just laughs and goes along with it flexing his muscles and being naturally silly.
Hohotaro slept early because he is kinda tired with fighting the bandits. The gathering of the mercenaries continues on without him. Hohotaro got a nice sleep under a tree and the next day he is refreshed and ready to ride.
"Gather up your stuff we're moving out!" The Caravan leader shouts early in the morning signalling the wagon members need to pack up ready to leave.
Hohotaro yawns and goes toward the mercenaries who are already up and awake. "Huh? How can you guys be that awake so early..." Hohotaro asked as he force his eyes to open.
"It's the secret of adults haha!" One of the mercenary laughs. "You'll figure it out eventually the longer you stay with us haha!"
The caravan continues to ride on towards the next village. Hohotaro is getting bored on top of his horse not to mention his butt is getting sore from riding. But Hohotaro's boredom will not last too long.
"Bandits!" One of the mercenary shouted. And like clockwork the Caravan leader maneuvers the caravan into a ring and Hohotaro and the other mercenaries stays outside the ring to protect the caravan.
From the distance Hohotaro sees a cloud of earth rising from the ground. The bandits this time are riding horses ready to charge the caravan to steal their cargo. The bandits rides close to the caravan and started circling it with their horses.
Hohotaro unmounts his horse because he's not really trained in horseback fighting. Hohotaro was trying to figure out how to hit the fast moving horses little does he know that it's just acting as a smoke screen for the bigger bulk of bandits arriving on foot. Other mercenaries know what is happening and get ready for the incoming attack.
First there is a shower of arrows. Hohotaro is lucky enough that all arrows missed him without even attempting a dodge. The other mercenaries are already hidden behind their shields even before the arrow comes.
Then there comes shouting. From behind the smoke screen of dust and horses, out comes charging seasoned bandits towards the mercenary guards and Hohotaro.
Hohotaro have five bandits coming after him. He figures that he wouldn't even need to use his swords to fight against these bandits.
One bandit charges at him with a gutting stab but Hohotaro catches the sword and twists it aside before he kicks the bandits right in his stomach. A huge smack echoes throughout the plains and the bandit just crumples to the ground. The other 4 bandits looked at each other and decided to attack Hohotaro at the same time.
Hohotaro did not give them time to regroup and do a simultaneous attacks. Time seems to slow down for hohotaro as he charged at one bandit and dodging the gutting stab by using his dodging maneuver and elbowing him on the back of his head.
He then jumps toward another bandit kicking the feet and tripping him before burying a punch directly on his chest. As soon as he see the bandit falling down Hohotaro charges at his next target.
Hohotaro looks at a bandit trying to stab him but Hohotaro just jumps aside and delivers a roundhouse kick right on the bandits temple. The fourth bandit falls down. There is only one more bandit close to Hohotaro so he charges at the last one.
The last one seeing all of his allies fall down with just one attack tries to run for it. But Hohotaro's jump was faster than the Bandit so Hohotaro managed to plant a knee on the Bandits vertebra cracking it and disabling the bandit then and there.
By the time the fifth bandit falls Hohotaro looks around and see that the bandits are already routing and the mercenaries are celebrating for a job well done.
