The thing about Fanalis is that their abilities are far beyond what a normal human is able to do, especially when it comes to hearing. For example, they can hear a branch break over fifty meters away and know that their prey nears, or they can hear people talking about trying to get them into slavery and thus leave the area as soon as possible.

It's not only a defensive reflex, but also one used to greatly aid their hunting abilities. However, Alek was even more talented than most about processing what he heard - He'd learned those skills over the hunts that he had done so far.

On the first hunt, he'd done little better than a normal human would have done, and even then only because of his super-strong senses. However, now that he had got several kills under his belt, he was almost like an information specialist when it came to things like this.

Walking through the town with Sloth in an attempt to buy some more food, he couldn't help but hear the whispers in the street. "There's another one. I can't believe this!"
"What kind of sick fuck does that to people?"

This was stuff that he wasn't really paying attention to, instead paying attention to his cohort. The last time they had worked together, the boy had asked him a very personal question - Had he been a slave? The answer was yes, but did he want to admit it to this guy?

He had, until recently, thought him a wild-minded maniac. It was only through protecting him in the cemetery that a little bit of respect had been earned, but still... there was something about this situation that made him not want to tell him. Like he couldn't quite trust the boy yet.

"So... Do you ever wonder why we're the ones that Yaku sends out grocery shopping?" he asked, trying to engage his fellow Fanalis in open conversation

"I mean, is your sister unable to do it herself? He's pretty lazy from what I've seen of him, but is he being condescending or is he trying to get alone time with Amira? God knows what those two are doing together right now."

The words were teasing and playful, Dyn had proven again and again that he was much too overprotective of his sister, and this was likely to get a reaction from him. However, the game ended quickly as they walked past an alleyway... and noticed a girl on the cobblestoned street, bathed in a sea of red.

Checking her pulse wasn't even necessary to know that she was dead, and given the guards ringing around it, it was clear that other people had discovered it. "That's the fifth one this week."

They day was like any other day in Zou, but this time was different considering that to Fanalis males were traveling together. Dynatos however didn't care nor did it phase him. He knew there was prejudice against the Fanalis. Lucky Amira wasn't here. That's the main reason he did not want her to come nor did he allow her to. Dynato knew the looks of some people that they would receive. Of course Yakuroro could have come as well, but that isn't how things turn out. It always happened the same, Dynatos would volunteer to go run the errands then Yakuroro would make some kind of statement towards Alek about 'something' it differed every time, so in the end Alek would end up going with Dynatos to run the errands. It used to be amusing but now it was the norm and did not phase Dynatos in the least bit.

Dynatos over heard the voices of people that passed by them. It seemed like something had been going on around Zou and frequently at that. Dynatos began to listen intently trying to gain as much information about the 'incidents' even though it was obvious from what Dynatos heard that they weren't. He heard all kinds of things ranging from a suicide cult to a good ole fashioned serial killer. Regardless of how people had been dying. This wasn't something that weighed lightly on Dynatos's mind either. Dynatos continued listening, but then heard remarks from Alek about Yakuroro. "Well considering he gets you to come out here every time doesn't bode well for yourself." Alek then proceeded to talk about Amira and why she couldn't run the errands; he then started to say that Yakuroro could possibly have a interest in her.  "Amira doesn't need to come and about the matter of him having a interest in her i doubt it for 'special' circumstances." his words were calm and unwavering; Dynatos left it as that considering Alek should already know the circumstances between the Fanalis and Imuchakk.

The strong smell of blood overcame the senses of Dynatos as he turn to see a woman lying in a puddle of her own blood. Dynatos was shocked but did not show it on his expression. He simply approached the woman and examined. It looked at if her throat had been ripped out. Only some kind of beast could pull this off so 'neatly'. The beast however must have been large and had sharp claws, because the woman had gashes on her arms. Dynatos bent down and continued examining the woman. He began to over here people talking about the woman Dynatos looked back at the the people passing by then back at the woman. He shook his head and sighed deeply. "You know we are gonna have to find this person Alek..." Dynatos's voice was as serious as the young fanalis, Alek, has ever heard. He stood and began to examine the surrounding area maybe something here could give them clues that they could let their 'Fanalis Senses' take and run with.

There was something morbidly fascinating about the way that this girl had been killed. The clean dissection of her stomach compared to the way that her throat had been ripped out like it was done by some savage animal... given the blood on her hands, he had to assume that the killer had savaged her ambushed her, savaged her throat, and let her freak out and bleed to death.

Whether it was loss of blood or the shock that had taken her first was unsure, but the dissection must have been post mortem, given the fact that there was no bloody hand-marks around the chest wound.

Well, at least it wasn't vivisection, he thought with a dark sense of calmness. Maybe it was the initial shock of finding a dead body, or maybe it was the fact that he had seen so many in his time, caused so many of them, that he was desensitized.

The boy had a sense of sadness that he hadn't expected from him, causing Alek to just look at him almost apologetically.

"We can't. I'd love to, but we can't. Yaku and Amira are waiting on us, and besides - If we investigate, the guards will just end up arresting us for tampering with their investigation. Trust me, the red-tape and the worry we'd cause to Yaku and your sister isn't worth it."

He was about to turn away, when one of the people from the crowd turned and looked to him. The man seemed haggard and angry, and there was a passing similarity between the victim and the man that made him wonder if they were not, somehow, related.

"The guards? Hah, they're being paid. Every time someone does something like this, all they have to do is throw money at the problem and it disappears. We're all just lambs to the slaughter to this guy and they're getting paid to let it happen."

Alek's body froze for a second, a sudden and undeniable angry tension shot through it, visibly changing his stance.
"Did you say... that people.. are being sold?" he asked, to which the man nodded. Where there was once a resignation that this was the way the world worked, Alek's determination suddenly shifted. When he thought that there would be someone to make sure that everything would go smoothly, he seemed willing to let someone else deal with it. But now?

"Dynatos, we are killing this motherfucker." The fortunate thing about this was that there was a blood streak going from the girl's body to around the corner, every few meters there was another drip, as if someone hadn't wiped their hands or knife clean of the blood properly. It was sloppily done. which made the guard's inaction about this situation even more disgusting.

The words of Alek about not finding the person slide off of Dynatos. No man would let this idly happen and not try to find the person responsible. When you have the power to do something you don't just brush it off you go out there and do something, or at least that what Dynatos was taught. Regardless of what Alek had been through he had a long way to go before becoming a 'man'. A man doesn't do things only when it is convenient for them. Dynatos continued his search. He then noticed small barely noticeable droplets of blood leading off somewhere. Dynatos was about to follow the trail, until Alek had said something that was soon followed by a citizen of Zou expressing his discontent with the Zou military and their ineffectiveness when it came to protecting their citizens.

They were corrupt and cared for money for than the people they were supposed to serve. When the man said something about them being bought Alek's attitude about the situation changed, as Dynatos had figured Alek or someone he cared for deeply were slaves. Alek was still young and it showed, but Dynatos and him actually felt the same way about killing this person. Killing them would be the only thing that could stop them. This level of 'darkness' would disappear after being imprisoned, it would most likely deepen it, so the only retribution for the poor soul was death and hope that the gods would have pity on him and cleanse his soul. Let's go Alek! Dynatos clenched his fist and began to follow the droplets of blood. He did not do this walking oh no Dynatos was running as if he was a blood hound who had caught the sent of its prey.

The trail of blood led down several alleys. Each new alley that Dynatos went down the smell of blood became more potent. He eventually saw the culprit of the murders. The man was around 6'2" 180 pounds. It was obvious the man was deeply depraved by the expression on his face when he turn and saw the two Fanalis. "Yes...yes...more...come..to......plaaayy. Hahahaha. Come pretty red head let me make your clothes and the ground match your beautiful blood inspired hair." The man pulled out a large machete, turned his head to the side and let a smile that shouldn't be considered such creep across his face.  "I just want you to know you are going to die here. You should hope the gods have more pity on you than we will."Dynatos pulled out his giant sword from its pouch and without a word launched it at the man. It was moving at speeds of 15 m/s closing the distance between the mean in no time at all. The only problem was he had time to dodge, but that was the plan. "Alek as soon as he dodges take him out." Dynatos said this in his head as to not give it away. He just hoped that Alek would follow the ques.

A lot of things weren't adding up here. This guy was so clearly off his rocker insane that he was actually slurring his words. He wasn't sure what medical condition it was that caused someone to slur the way this guy did, but it had to be something pretty damned nasty.

".. My hair is pink." he said, pointing that little factoid out. "And his hair is more magenta than crimson. I mean, when you come to think about it..." The man hissed angrily at what he appeared to think was an insult to his craft

"Filthy Fanalis bastard, you don't understand. You never understand, why do you people neeeeeever understand? Blood is blood, it's blood and blood is blood. Red is blood, and blood is blood."

Okay... how was this guy sane enough to pay off the guards, but wasn't sane enough to make anything close to what could be considered sensible sentences?

Actually, given the man's artistic flaw... he kinda had an urge to fuck with his brain before they took care of him. If he was so obsessed with blood, then perhaps he should give him a little bit more to think about when he was looking at his blood-obsession.

"But lobster red is blue. Blood is blue and red and green and black." he pointed out, which only seemed to confuse the man more
"but if blood isn't red then red is blue and blue is black and color is pain and the painting is missing it's final paintstroke."

Bizarrely, this could be considered a conversation. The man dodged the blow, and as Alek threw himself forwards, Bou sent his machete out to cut through his arm. What he didn't expect, however, was for Alek to slam his hand upwards at the right moment, the blade slamming against the metal glove, causing a clanging noise like slamming two pots together.

"You are metal?" the man asked, before getting a face full of dandruff, sending him ass over head.
"Nope... you're just bat-shit." It was, perhaps, an unsophisticated way to talk about the man's clearly less than stellar mental condition, but still...

Alek moved forwards, his foot beginning to press down on his throat, choking him and stopping him from breathing properly. "You know, I know how you feel. Killing is... wonderful. To know that you're not just some powerless speck in the world, that you can actually make a difference. That you're not useless."

The way that he spoke... it was clear that he had some depth of knowledge on the subject. "Yessss, blood is pretty, yes?" the man hissed out, finding it almost impossible to speak and yet doing it anyway.

"No. You killed good people, innocent people, and without fair cause. Pretty as it may be, you can admire your own for all I care."

Dynatos stood there and listened to the man and Alek have a back and forth. Alek then made his move towards the man and swiftly incapacitated him. They again began to have a back and forth. Dynatos took this time to grab Megalos. It was stuck in the side of a walls ruble that had been caused by the impact of the large sword. Dynatos wasn't paying much attention until Alek said killing is wonderful. Dynatos's eyes shot towards Alek. This was a alarming thing to hear from the young Fanalis. Why would anyone besides maniacs and psychopaths say killing is wonderful. Dynatos walked over to Alek and the deranged man after placing Megalos back into its resting spot. "Alek that is something you should not find wonderful. Killing is something no one should find wonderful." Dynatos looked down at the man with a slight frown on his face. "What else do you have to say?"

"Beautiful black..hahaha...black flutterflies....death yes love death and blood, red is blood blood is black~ hahaha black is rising. You two white disgusting." Dynatos simply looked at the man and thought about the words he said 'black flutterflies' in his travels Dynatos had heard of Black Ruhk before but he did not know there were people who actually fell into depravity so deep their Ruhk changed colors. "Alek it appears our friend here is being influenced by the Black Ruhk..." Dynatos paused and looked at Alek before looking back at the man. Hopefully this man would find salvation within his soul. Dynatos genuinely hoped the soul of this man was saved from the corruption that had ensnared it. Dynatos turned away from the two men and took a sstep forward. "Rest in Peace..." Dynatos then began to walk out of the alley back to the main street.

The black ruhk huh? It was a hell of a thing who knew it could be that tightly gripped around someone. Dynatos would have to learn more about it in order to keep people from slipping into it like that man did. Dynatos saw a Zou soldier and approached him. "What do you want Fanalis?" Dynatos looked at the soldier dead in his eyes. "The problem of the murders should stop now. Tell everyone." The soldiers eyes widened. "I-I-I don't know what your talking about Fanalis!!" Dynatos piercing gaze was still trained on the man like he was his prey. "Don't lie I know the whole story. Your citizens told me. You should be protecting them instead of taking bribes." Dynatos's words were calm yet had passion behind them. He turned and walked away from the soldier. Maybe this is what he was meant to do, help people. Dynatos then remembered the words of Alek. He would have to have a talk to Alek about his past whether either of them wanted to go there or not. Some things just need to be discussed, man to man. "Alek I'm going back. I'm tired. I'm sure you can handle the rest of the errnads alone..."

This guy was telling him his business? Despite his earlier reaction to him, as he turned his gaze onto the man telling him not to love it, his gaze was cold and emotionless.

"Oh, and why not? Men trade other men around like pieces of meat. They give children to monsters who will use them, defile them, kill them, and all in the name of a few damned coin.

In a world where that is common practice, how can it be wrong to kill those who's presence hurts everyone else? How can it be wrong to kill to protect people? Aren't we doing it now?"

Still, with a final stomp that turned the man underneath him to a fine red paste. "When you send me to kill someone for defiling the sanctity of life and then preach to me that killing is wrong... you are a hypocrite." He  said, before turning around and heading the other way. Even if he was heading home, they had something left to do.

"I'll see you back at camp." He said, leaving to go buy the shopping. Or, at least, he would have done if the people that were surrounding him weren't surrounding him
