As soon as Chimera and Zadi touched the door to the dungeon, a bright flash of light sucked the two through. It seemed as if the two began falling through a tunnel of golden light. Though bright, it was not so much so that it blinded the two. The feeling of falling continued for some time before the light suddenly disappeared, and the form of a giant blue and green orb could be seen in the distance.

Several rays of light shined out in multiple directions from multiple sources on that orb, which was rotating slowly. As the orb continued to rotate, one such beam of light approached Chimera and Zadi. The light struck the Candidate and Companion both, this time blinding them greatly while simultaneously causing a loud buzzing noise in their ears...

The blindness slowly faded, with the noise following suit shortly after. The sound of crickets and the cries of birds out in the distance could suddenly be heard. As the two obtained bearings of their location they found themselves surrounded by a lush green forest. The scent of the flora wafted across the air. Before them was a path going forward; the dirt was packed from constant travel, though occasionally there were small rocks and sticks scattered across the path.

The thick canopy and low branches would make alternate means of travel tricky, but not impossible. As the two continued to move forward, they would eventually find themselves at a split in the path. One way was much less traveled than the other, with undergrowth covering parts of the path in sight. It seemed to double-back from the direction they came from.

If they looked close enough they would see a family of deer, which were standing perfectly still and staring at them, about ten meters off the path.

Keep in mind that the actions of both the companion and contender are judged as 1 person. You two may want to talk, IC and OOC, in order to make sure that you are following the routes you want to follow ^_^.

The beaming light blinded Chimera's optics in an instance, causing a natural reflex where her arms went up to shield her squinting eyes, but as they traversed through the luminous path, she quickly grew adjusted. Her face lit up with awe and wonder, definitely noticeable by the innocent smile that crept upon her face.

It was nothing like she had expected it to be. She thought a dungeon would be a more mundane obstacle with possibly traps and a few monsters, but it was evident that these dungeons were otherworldly, in nature, a fact that she would keep handy in the pocket of her mind.

Chimera turned her neck, glancing over at her companion to see his reaction, but turned back to the path. Her body and mind finally realizing that they were descending, as her eyes fixated on the sphere that reminded her of oceans and grass. It was like a light house, illuminating the sky around them in various directions, as if guiding lost souls to it.

As the orb rotated, Chimera and Zadi were caught in the path of light. Chimera braced eyes herself preemptively, shutting them as intensely as possible, creating wrinkles of exertion across her face, but paired with the light, there was an audible disturbance too... 'Buzzing?'
. She grinded her teeth to soothe her irritation from the noise.

-

All of her senses returned to normal, at last. The falling, the lights and the sounds had ceased and her senses began to adjust to their new environment. However, the forest wasn't one of her strong suits, tempting her to activate one of her abilities from the start.

Then she recalled she had an ally with her. She wasn't alone for the duration of the dungeon, even if she was still a bit wary of the situation. It was better than having a total stranger or being alone. "Wow, that was amazing, huh?" She   spoke hoping to judge the response from Zadi as well as get him to open up a bit.

Chimera was sure to not be caught off by anything magical from Zadi or the dungeon. Chimera was very calm about the whole situation, despite any surprises.

When they had reached the fork, via their method of travel, Chimera was quick to assess the situation, already assuming that this could have been the trial that the previous would-be conquerors had failed. "Hey Zadi. I think this might be a test. We should travel down the dirt path. We are better off not disturbing the land when possible." Her words spoke as if she were certain it was the case, and her actions were deliberate.

She looked to the deer, and immediately refocused on their path. "I know we've had a chance to talk at this point, but maybe further down the line, our lives may be in danger and we don't have the time to discuss things... Please follow my lead." It was hard to leave her slaver tendency of being in complete control, but Zadi was much more powerful than her and she was going to need his help to make it through this. Apparently the promise of having been able to conquer a dungeon had suppressed more of her questionable tendencies.

As they had started on the path, Chimera found it was important to get to know what Zadi was like, so she could try to expect what he would be doing in the future. "I really believe that you destroyed the pyramid in Helio, you know?" She paused for a moment, thinking of how to phrase her next thoughts. "But I don't see why you did it."

After receiving the extra piece of advice from Chimera, the two where swept into the dungeon in the usual fashion. It may have been something amazing and brilliant to a newbie, but to Zadi, a three-time veteran of dungeons, it wasn't anything super-special. Illusion or not, the light was annoyingly bright while the time it took to get through all the other lights was also rather tedious. All in all, nothing new or "cool" that Zadi hadn't experienced before...aside from the buzzing. He didn't remember the buzzing before any of the dungeons, or at least he couldn't remember. Maybe he was just so captivated by the lights that the buzzing didn't mean anything to him?

After the light show and the buzzing stopped, Zadi was on the ground, sitting on his butt. Zadi slowly got up and rubbed his eyes, attempting to rub the soreness out of them after which he poked the inside of his ears in order to readjust to the sounds of the jungle.

"Damn, I can't seem to get used to those lights. Hurts my eyes every time."

That was Zadi's comment to Chimera's excitement. Dull and rather sad. Therefore, Zadi added in, "Though the inside of this dungeon looks rather nice and nearly untouched. The dirt path seems a little out of place."

The deer looking at the two companions also felt out of place to Zadi, but he didn't say anything for he didn't know much about the wildlife within forests and jungles. Perhaps deer are actually more common in jungles than they are in forests? From what Zadi read back in Magnostadt's library, deer and the like aren't normally found in jungles. Though another theory could be that Zadi mixed up the books in his memory. As for Chimera's observations and comments;

"Test this early on? Reminds me a little of my first dungeon. There was this bridge and I heard these screams all around us, my partner and I, and I used Strength Magic to try and hit the screams. It seemed to work because the screams sounded like they were falling off the bridge, hahaha! Scary stuff."

Zadi made sure to leave out the part where he accidentally hurt his partner as well so as not to worry Chimera. Luckily, Zadi's mastery of magic has reached a point where it was unlikely that he'd hurt an ally. To be honest, Yakuroro may have been the only ally that Zadi has injured.

"Ah, the pyramid. It doesn't really matter if you believe me or not. In fact, I might as well just use the same magic on you right now."

Hopefully Chimera wouldn't freak out too much from that comment for all that Zadi ended up doing was using a form of Gravity Lift in order to fly the two partners over the dirt path that Chimera had suggest the two of them take.

"Sorry, couldn't help myself with that wording. No need to worry about walking, I'll fly the two of us using a Group Gravity Lift spell. Though, once a predator attacks us, I'll have to cease the flying."

Zadi made sure that the Group Gravity Lift wasn't too strong and also not too weak. On top of that, he only had the two adventurers float a foot off the ground. However, speed is efficiency, so the two of them started to fly down the dirt path at 5 m/s. Not breakneck speeds, but enough to equal running.

"As for why I destroyed the pyramid is a long story. I'll just say this for now; it was for a friend's sake at first."

As the two watched the deer, a look of fright swirled within the depths of its eyes. Its stance, frozen as ice, only revealed the surface of its emotions. Even as they chose to continue walking down the more traveled path, the deer's surface tension broke and, like a walrus breaking through a layer of ice of a frozen river, the creature broke from its frozen state and dashed away from the two. Whether or not the two knew, it was not peculiar for this woodland creature to run as it did, even though they did not pose any immediate threat.

Zadi's choice of helping them along through flight seemed to be paying off. Their stamina was doing quite well, as neither had to rough-it through the forest's trails and lose out on their leg strength. Their continued travel through the forest yielded the sight of many more creatures; squirrels, chipmunks and even monkeys were here and there. Though most of these creatures ran away from them, it seemed as if the arrival of two flying outsiders piqued the curiosity of the monkeys.

CCCRRAAAAACK- It was the noise of a branch breaking and tumbling to the ground just off the trail to their left. At the same time, the screech of a monkey could be heard. Other than that, the trip itself was not particularly noteworthy...

At last they found themselves reaching an apex of a small hill that the path wound over.

Before them was a slope, which was deceptively steep, that lead down towards a village in the distance. This clearing was of decent size, and the sight of people wearing fur pelts could vaguely be seen in the distance. As they approached, however, they would soon find that these were not people in the village but bi-pedal bears. Their approach would reveal the bears preparing for their arrival, swords, hammers and axes in hand. They seemed to be waiting with a stern determination as the two approached. To the right, a small pile of 3 dead humans could be seen. Their bodies each bore wounds that suggested the bears were the cause of it.

Looking further, the village was set up in a fairly straightforward manner. Each side had a row of homes, with a set of tables outside of each one. Though the bear-creatures were standing in a semi-circle, preventing people from simply walking into the village, intricate gold statues of various bears in different stances could be seen on the tables in front of the houses. Aside from whatever value the bears placed in them, they were quite clearly gold and worth something outside of the dungeon.

If Zadi and Chimera were to approach the group of bears, they may have found that they heard a rather curious sound in the background; 'Shhhk, crsssh. Shhhk, crsssh.' It continued, rhythmically, and sounded as if somebody was using a shovel to dig something.

Simultaneously the bear in the center, with a rather large shield and warhammer, roared at the two of them and shook its body in an attempt to intimidate the two. "Roooar. Grarlrl. GRAWR!" The noises it made were unintelligible.

The low flight through the forest-jungle filled with all sorts of sounds around the two adventurers was a humbling experience for Zadi. He felt small and insignificant due to the size of the surrounding environment. It was almost the opposite of what Zadi felt while sailing upon the open ocean. Granted, the seas and there vastness were humbling in their own way, but being unable to see the horizon within a large, wooded area make the humbling experience more humbling, if that makes sense. Zadi was actually concentrating on flying and maneuvering the two companions so he didn't really think much of the "humbling experience". All the same, it was nice, aside from the branch breaking. It sounded like something big had broken it. Thankfully nothing showed up, but there could end up being something large within this vast dungeon.

After much flight, the two adventurers came upon a village of bear-people. Rather ferocious looking bipedal creatures that look ready to pounce upon any living being that bothers their peace. Zadi slowed the flying to a hault about 10 meters from the largest bear who looked to be either a champion or a leader. The roaring of the bear seemed unintelligent for Zadi was strangely unable to understand it using his Wildman Charm. However, Zadi found that it wasn't language that the large bear just spoke; the large bear was trying to intimidate the two travelers into leaving with aggressive sounding roaring. And it worked a little.

Zadi felt he was about to start sweating due to the enormous pressure surrounding him. It wasn't normal either, though a theory could be that large bears with weapons and armor were staring at him. Zadi tried to ease the tension by landing both Chimera and himself on the ground, though keeping his spell active for later travel. Zadi then put his hands in the air, keeping all of his items and weapons 'sheathed', slowly reaching for his Wildman Charm that happened to look like a bear, taking said charm off, showing it to the big bear, putting it back on, and finally saying;

"Hello! My name is Zadi and this human woman next to me is named Chimera. We have come here today in order to pass through your village in peace. We do not wish for outright violence! However, if you so wish for us to prove out worth, let my leader here duel your champion in a trial by single combat." Zadi waited in order to catch his breath and and gauge the reactions of the bears and then continued, "If it is a trial by single combat you wish, then whoever wins decides the victor's fate."

Zadi then turned to Chimera in hopes that she wasn't too frightened. Thankfully, she seemed composed at the moment. Just to make sure though, Zadi whispered, "Don't kill unless negotiations for our passing go sour. Good luck!" With that, Zadi waited for the bears to respond, hopefully in a language that the Wildman Charm could translate. As for the curious sound in the background that sounded like shoveling or the shaking of tribal instruments, Zadi didn't pay much mind to it. Only if the sound got louder or closer would Zadi attempt to investigate.

"Ugh, I'm such a novice." She was thinking as she was exploring the jungle with Zadi. She had never experienced magic personally and to now be flying through a foreign location that she had never laid her eyes on as well as beasts she had only read about in books before today. It was beautiful, even the air was different from the Great Plains, different from Helio and different from the open seas.

As she took everything in.... there was a peculiar noise. By now, she snapped back into the reality of the situation. Chimera took this chance to activate her optic ability; Goat Eyes. Her pupils morphed slowly, and the color in her eyes changed along with it, the circular pupils, flattened out turning into a pair of horizontal bars. Her field of vision increased as well as her night vision but there didn't seem a use for that, just yet.

As they saw the bear tribe, Zadi had descended the pair to the floor. It definitely felt safer being in control of her own actions, in case something were to happen. Chimera couldn't quite tell which bear was the leader. The tallest bear seemed to be their greatest warrior, but the shortest had a staff indicating it's role as a magician of sorts, and in her experience, magicians were not to be trifled with.

As they approached closer to them, Chimera's ears were quick to pick up on the rhythmic beat that seemed to be behind the scenes. It could have been a trap or something else. She kept her eyes peeled for it, but she would take the encounters as they presented themselves. The bears roar seemed to affect her, but it wasn't quite so much as frightening, as more as exciting. Her heartbeat's palpitations grew, along with her respiratory rate. Chimera was more than ready to throwdown now, but she turned Zadi as he spoke on her behalf. It was soothing and gave her a moment to cooldown in the chaos of the situation, having seen the dead bodies in the corner of her eyes, and everything that seemed to go on around her at once, her instinct was Fight or Fight, no flight.

Then Chimera did a double take, looking at Zadi with crazed eyes. "Is this guy fucking talking to the bears? What?" She turned back to the bears and pretended as if nothing was out of the ordinary. Her ears picked up on Zadi's negotiations, and they were surprisingly well-thought. To negotiate with the bears, definitely had the tone of respect, and he wasn't afraid of combat. Then if they had settled the score with one-to-one combat, it would reduce injuries for both parties. Zadi's final words, almost seemed as if he knew exactly what Chimera had been thinking at first. Chimera had expected Zadi to be the bloodthirsty killer and herself to be the level-headed one, and here they were with roles reversed.

The bears watched Zadi closely as he came closer, suspicious of his approach. The Chieftain approached, but did not move too far away from the rest of the bears, and the Shaman approached not too far from behind him. The rest of the bears shuffled closer to each other, filling up the gaps that were caused by the other two bears moving forward.

When Zadi showed the necklace, there was a slight show of curiosity from the Bear Shaman. When he began speaking again after placing the amulet around his neck there was an immediate reaction from the group of bears before him. Emotions of surprise clearly flickered across their faces, and some let their guard down even if it was for only a few brief seconds. Some looked over to the woman as Zadi was speaking, curious to see if she could also speak their tongue. Even though she did not speak, it seemed as if she did not find anything strange with what the man was saying.

When Zadi finished speaking, the Chieftain and the rest of the bear-men no longer seemed as hostile as before. Their weapons were no longer held in a menacing manner, and the Chieftain stepped forward within arm's distance of Zadi. "Our people are a peaceful lot. We only look to live, not fight... You are the first we've met of your kind who are actually able to speak." Though Zadi could clearly understand what the bear was trying to say, all it looked like to Chimera would be a bunch of growling and movements of the creature's body. It seemed as if The Wildman charm that Zadi had was translating these gestures and sounds in a manner he could understand, and vice-versa for the bears.

"These fur-less savage creatures attempted to attack us and steal the holy relics of our ancestry... If you can promise us that you will not attempt the same, and pass through our village peacefully, then we shall let you through." It seemed that Zadi's choice of diplomacy would not be for naught, as the Bear Chieftain seemed to be rather open to the idea of the group passing by without further troubles. If Zadi agreed to the terms, the Bear Chieftain would have 2 Bear Warriors follow both Chimera and Zadi, with himself and the Shaman keeping a close watch for any treachery.

If they continued onward they would find steps leading further up towards a tree with a door that looked similar in style to the gate, though much smaller. The steps themselves seemed natural, as if the tree they were climbing up had developed them as it grew. A somewhat surreal sight, though not as flashy of one as their entrance into the dungeon itself had been. Looking about from here, there seemed to have been another route that lead to the location they were in. It was a pathway that lead off to a darker part of the forest. There didn't seem to be any need to follow that route, however, as the Bear Chieftain's next words showed how they had arrived at their goal. "This door will take you deeper within this forest. Best of luck to you two, fur-less Bears." The Chieftain wished them well.

OOC:

You must touch the door to move further into the dungeon. You are free to stick around the village if you wish to talk or look around. Keep in mind that the golden statues are worth 2,000 Huang, OOC, a piece. Know that the bears will become hostile if you attempt to take one.

The bears reactions and the language that the Wildman Charm translated showed just how civilized these bears really are. Their culture is advanced enough for both a legitimate language and the creation of weapons and shelters, not to mention the golden statues that looked to be rather detailed from Zadi's perspective. Anyway, Zadi responded to the bears and translated the "negotiations" for Chimera;

"This necklace is a real wonder, hahaha! Not only does it translate a foreign specie's language and movements, it also translates MY language and movements, more or less." Zadi motioned towards Chimera in order to involve her a little more, "she may be unable to speak your tongue, but she, too, comes here bearing no ill will...excuse the pun, hehe. Anyway, we both promise not to disturb your holy relics, or any other items that you may cherish individually. We shall merely pass through, thanks to your kindness."

Zadi looked over to Chimera, hoping that she understood everything that Zadi somewhat translated. He weaved his own response in with explanations that would help catch Chimera up to the current situation, if not calm her if she was frightened, unlikely as it may be. Chimera seemed to be a strong and capable person in her own right, from what Zadi has seen so far.

Zadi then made Chimera and himself float once again using his Social Group Gravity Lift, simply for convenience. The bear village was well made and easy to walk through, but flying was still easy enough. Zadi did notice that Chimera felt ease when she was put back on the group, but Zadi wasn't very much able to control what was caught within his spell, not for now at least. She would just have to continue to trust Zadi, her companion within this seemingly peaceful dungeon. Anyway, the two floated towards the end of the village where both another path and a door presented themselves. Zadi was going to let Chimera decide, but then the bears were kind enough to indicate which path to take.

Taking a door to another area was also something that Zadi was familiar with, though Chimera not so much, "No worries, the bears speak the truth. Oh wait, you can't understand them. They say this door will take us further into the dungeon and likely closer to our goal. As you have most likely deduced, I have been into other dungeons before and doors such as this take you to closer to your intended destination...hopefully. All dungeons are different after all, hahaha! Anyway, let's go!"

Zadi touched the door and made his way to the other side, making sure to wave his farewells to the village of the bears, "Farewell, fur-covered Bears."

Chimera was kind of dumb-founded but nodded when she was caught up with Zadi's summary for the situation. It was a bit frustrating for her, but she understood that Zadi had essentially take care of the situation, and fortunately they avoided a battle they didn't need to have. Chimera had no intentions of stealing  any of the golden bear statues, even if they looked particularly ornate. She sensed immediately that it was a test, and this was a good way to get through the dungeon.

She opened her mouth to Zadi as they were being escorted by the bear warriors. "Hey, how come you can talk to animals? Is that something magicians can learn?" This ability seemed nearly indispensable, and she was considering becoming a mage for the sake of earning that ability and many abilities like it. She proceeded through the door behind Zadi, and her eyes were much better in this setting. Everything was dark except for some luminous moss. She turned to the bears, giving a small wave as a farewell. The biggest fact that Zadi had not only been in a dungeon before, it was more than once.

A haze overcame both Chimera and Zadi. It was as if the colors of the forest began to run together, swirling counter-clockwise with a sense of lethargy. Soon those colors changed; no longer the bright and soft colors of the Main Hall, they became dark and rugged. The swirling stopped and began to revert at an incredible speed; before they knew it, they were standing in an almost completely different environment.

The Midway
Chimera's Dominion [Chimera & Zadi] UMSngOd

The first thing they would hear would be the omnipresent sound of crickets in the background. The place they were in had no open sky; everything around them was wood and moss... Yet even without the warm light of the sun piercing through the canopy of a forest the two would not find themselves lacking vision. The moss, which was growing plentifully, had luminescent properties. This provided them enough radiance to maneuver with ease. A clear river ran across the base of the wooden ground, both slow and gentle, though too deep to see the bottom of. Above the river were sloping sections of wood that vaguely resembled the roots of a tree; any plant with roots this large was undoubtedly massive.

Upon these sloping roots were a series of huts supported by stilts. No movement could be seen from these 'homes', and an eerie sense of being in a ghost town would descend upon the two. Tension began to slowly build within the air, as if there was something or someone watching them. Expecting something of them. This feeling would continue to strengthen for some time... There was a stairway to their right that could lead upwards, if they wished to take that route and investigate the buildings on stilts. Otherwise, they could choose to take a dip in the water or even use Zadi's flight to travel deeper into the dungeon.

Chimera found this region beautiful in design. Her eyes began to wander and study the surrounding areas. The ambiance of crickets was soothing, as they continued to fly to their destination. "Huh. I guess we're underground?" Chimera quickly inspected the river, but it was an abyss, too many factors such as the lighting and depth despite the pristine nature made it impossible to see to the bottom. As her eyes also met a few raised houses that were raised off the roots, which was quite peculiar.

"Hey Zadi. I can't really see all that deep into the water, but there's houses up there." She pointed to the roots. "Can you get us there? Maybe we can get more information on what we're supposed to do here."

The two of them arrived in a new area and it was not an area that Zadi felt comfortable with. For one thing, it was too dark to see all that well, there was a deep abyss right in front of them, and there was an eerie feeling in the air, like something or someone was intently watching them. This place felt too deep within the dungeon. Too ominous. Zadi felt constricted in his movements until Chimera started to speak. It was as if Chimera was comfortable here. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. Zadi was from Balbadd and had negotiations within his blood. Chimera seemed to come from a metaphorically dark place as indicated by the black rukh she possesses and the skill to stay "free" in such a constraining environment. If the two of them wanted to get through this dungeon in one piece, Zadi would have to listen to Chimera.

"Alright, I'll get us up there in no time."

Zadi did just that, follow Chimera's "orders", so to speak. Chimera knew want to do before Zadi could compose himself in this new environment, so Chimera was the one to give the orders. The two of them flew up using Zadi's Group Gravity Lift and eventually landed on the sloping branches settled upon by the awkward houses. If these houses indicated anything, they would indicated civilization. Perhaps travelers that made it this far into the dungeon got lost within this area and couldn't find a way out and so decided to make a home here. Seeing as the objective was to exit the dungeon, this theory scared Zadi a little. The best option for now was to call out for anyone or anything that may live within these houses. Whether the residents may provide valuable information pertaining to depths of the dungeon. But before that, Zadi had Chimera and himself stop floating yet still keep the Group Gravity Lift spell active for later branch hopping.

"Before we search the houses, I'd like to answer your earlier question; I used this necklace to communicate with the bears. It allows only me to both understand and speak nearly any foreign species' tongue as if it were my own."

The Wildman Charm was indeed just that versatile. Its power allowed to the free communication between humans and animals which opened more windows for negotiation as seen with Zadi's negotiation with the bear people. After showing Chimera the Wildman Charm, Zadi rummaged around through his black kimono and pulled out his Light Bomb which he promptly handed to Chimera as a gesture of good will.

"Here, take this. I can't seem to decipher its use, even though I'm a magician. Maybe you can do more with it than I ever could." Chimera was given the Light Bomb while Zadi was hopefully given a permanent ally, in and out of the dungeon. Zadi sure knew he needed more allies if he wanted to change the world, "Alright, let's see if we can't find someone to help guide us through this dungeon."

Zadi then started to shout out for anyone, hoping to get something's attention, "Hello! Anybody out there!? We come in peace!" Hopefully, if need be, the Wildman Charm would translate Zadi's shouting.

The flight was unimpeded as Zadi and Chimera took to the air. Zadi's calls were not met by any other creature in the area. The building itself, if investigated, was extremely utilitarian. It was bare of any furniture, and the windows were without glass. Peculiarly enough, the windows were made as horizontal bars; spaced enough to see through, but not enough to pass an arm through.

If they walked across the floors they would find that it creaked ever so slightly, but was a sturdy structure in every other way. There seemed to be a scraping noise from outside. One that sounded somewhat ominous. The scraping sound increased in frequency, and a sudden screech was released into the night air. The screech grated against sensibility, and a very different pitched chattering began. This new noise was antagonistic, and seemed to have arrived in retaliation of the screeching. Investigation of the noises would yield a strange sight; creatures of insectoid origin jumping into the air and striking out at flying creatures who seemed to be a mixture between insectoid and magical beast.

Flying creature:
Jumping creature:

Some of the flying creatures were caught, and the jumpers that caught them immediately began feasting upon their dead bodies. Others were not so lucky; one such creature had jumped into the air and made a move to cut into the flying creature but was instead on the receiving end of a powerful blow, removing one of its four arms. The creature landed on the same branch that Zadi and Chimera were on while simultaneously letting out a screech, much alike to the one from before. Immediately it began running away from the flying creature and towards the duo; it seemed to have a look of determination as it raised a sickle above its head in preparation for a strike.

Being the curious woman she was, she grabbed the bars of the windows and slipped her hand up to her wrist but got stuck half way up her forearm. It seemed as if there was a brawl was occuring outside. Chimera began to see a situation unfold. The mantis fighting with the pixies and devouring them. Even as such there were more flyers than there were jumpers. Even her surroundings helped her form a conclusion about the situation.

Even as the mantis had shown its fury in preparation to attack, Chimera placed her hand in Zadis path, as if protecting him as well as guiding him further back into the room as she stepped slowly away from the mantis. "Lets try to lead it in here. I want to test something.... I think these are prisons, and I dont think they are meant for those flyers."

With the bears being as peaceful as they were, Zadi didn't think twice about an attack being possible. Thankfully nothing happened midair so the two of them didn't have to take a dip in the shady water. However, Zadi crying out did nothing either. In fact, it was pure chance that a creature ended up attacking the two of them while they were inspecting on of the nearby 'houses'. Speaking of chance, what are the odds that Chimera and Zadi stumbled upon a prison break? Slim right? Or maybe it was the dungeon doing its thing? Chimera seemed to know and therefore guided Zadi further into the small 'prison'.

Slits for windows, no furniture, high off the ground. Hmmm, good catch Chimera.

It may have been a good catch, but what was Chimera thinking with leading the mantis thing further into the prison cell? Zadi hypothesized that Chimera was attempting to restrain the mantis in the prison cell in an attempt to speak to it and see who the real "bad guy' in this prison break was, if it really was a prison break. However, all signs seemed to point to it, and more specifically towards a prison for keeping POWs, prisoners of war. Starvation was not uncommon within prisons especially during times of war, so it made sense that the mantis people were not only killing their captors but subsequently eating them, too. If this was true, then if Zadi spoke in the prisoner's language using the Wildman Charm...

"Stop! We are here to help! Give us the situation!"

Hopefully those words would ring clear within the attacking mantis' head such that Zadi, and subsequently Chimera, could figure out what was going on and who needed help escaping tyranny. However, just in case, Zadi drew his trusty sword, Rukh Slayer. Not only could it serve as protection, but it may also help the mantis 'recognize' Zadi and Chimera as allies. After all, the flying creatures are using spears while the mantis creatures are using 'swords', so to speak. A sword and sickle aren't that different...right?

As Zadi attempted to ask the creature what was going on the battle between the strange Pixies and the Thri-kreen was continuing. Instead of providing any particulars of the situation, the Thri-Kreen simply had one word it repeated. Much like a mantra. "Food.... Foood... Food!" The tone of its voice, and the movements of its body, showed a degree of ravenous hunger that would only be known by those who were starving. As the two moved deeper into the building the creature paused as if considering its options. It dug its feet into the ground and burst forward with the assistance of its Four-Armed Crush. The distance was crossed in the blink of an eye, and although he was not able to close the entire distance and grasp upon one of them he was now within the same building as Zadi and Chimera.

It seemed as if this time Zadi's efforts were not able to bring the opposition to his side. The beast moved forward and if it was able to get within a meter of Zadi or Chimera it would strike out with a Mantis Exterminator.

As the two within the building came closer to beginning a battle the intensity of the fight outside continued to increase. A Thri-Kreen had fallen prey to the six remaining Forest Mantis Pixies, but not before two of those very same Pixies lost their own lives. The remaining two rushed towards the building that the first one had already entered; the two Pixies were in hand as they did so.

Unfortunately, Zadi was unable to reason with the hungry hungry mantis. From what Zadi seemingly accurately deduced, these mantis people were starved within these prisons cells. So much so that the merciful option would be to put them down, for good. Therefore, when the mantis came close using a burst of speed, Zadi grabbed his wand and fired off three groups of lasers using Kthyr Alyzr. One group of lasers was aimed at the attacking mantis at point blank range, B-tier damage.

The other two groups of lasers were weaker, C-tier, and aimed for the other two mantis people that, from the use of Zadi's detective skills of heightened memory and perception, were aimed at through the walls of the building. All three lasers went full speed towards their targets. However, Zadi had to do one more thing with the attacking mantis. Zadi remembered back on the ship when those strange metal creatures attacked and clashed with the lasers he had fired. With that memory in mind, Zadi lunged for the attacking mantis using a Forward Thrust at 10 m/swith Rukh Slayer aimed for the mantis' chest.

If everything went "smoothly", so to speak, then Zadi would say, "Mercifully Killing them is the only way to satiate their starvation." Zadi's look would be blank, nearly emotionless. It's tough, even for Zadi, to kill something that he could speak with. Especially something unable to control its own actions.

The brunette got in the way between Zadi and the mantis ready to defend him, but her head turned towards the direction of lights, having her lose her focus momentarily. Rays of light that seemed to merge together, and focused each of the three jumpers. Despite the situation, perhaps she had hypothesized incorrectly and had taken a larger than needed risk.

She brought out the glowing stone egg that she had been gifted with. Her first instinct was to aim it at the Mantis closest to them, but Zadi seemed to have that situation handled, as her eyes caught that more of the lasers had focused the closest mantis. With her hand outwards, the Light Bomb clasped in her fist. Her thumb slid over the embossed magic circle, as she felt the light from the egg shine greater, she tilted back her wrist exposing more of the items surface towards the mantis, until a beam of light pierced through the entrance of the structure towards the rightmost mantis on the root. The streak of light illuminated the area as if it were the flash of lightning through the sky. She was hoping to kill the beast outright, but she was still eager to see the effects of her new item.

Zadi's spell was quite destructive in nature. Only through the Thri-Kreen's excellent sense of self-preservation was it able to strike back against the beam with one of its attacks. The other arm, however, failed to move in time as a shock of pain traveled through its body. The beam obliterated the creature before Zadi had decided to lunge forward and strike at the creature with a follow-up attack. The leftmost Thri-Kreen was caught by surprise as well, with the force of the beam completely destroying the creature. The rightmost Thri-Kreen was paying attention, however, and clashed against the ability with all of its might. The strength of its Mantis Exterminator negated the beam.

It was not aware, however, of the explosive spell that followed up behind Zadi's beam of light. Hidden behind the initial bright light of Zadi's spell, the bomb was an unexpected addition to the battle that engulfed even 2 of the Forest Mantis Pixies that were chasing the Thri-Kreen. With the final death wail of the creatures due to the power of the magic, the scene suddenly became quiet. If either of them were to look outside, they would see glowing eyes from the remaining two Forest Mantis Pixies, both of which were poorly hiding behind roots about 30 meters away. There was a clear view of their upper bodies, but their lower bodies were blocked from sight. It seemed that they were terrified of the two who were within the building. The tree root directly beneath them opened up, as if an oval portal was created just for them. The creatures did not make a move towards Zadi and Chimera.

Zadi sheathed his sword and put away his wand. All the hungry mantis people were 'defeated', to say the least, while it seemed that the flying creatures that remained hid within some roots some meters away. However, Zadi didn't care about things that didn't attack him. Not at the moment anyway. They flying creatures may be the wardens or they may have been the victims. The only certain thing to Zadi at the moment is the portal to the next area of the dungeon. Unfortunately, Zadi didn't feel like he nor Chimera were tested in any way aside from their battle prowess. This next portal just suddenly appeared without prior warning. With the stories of people being expelled from the dungeon, Zadi began to become suspicious of the oval portal. Zadi then wondered why the flying creatures haven't just left altogether. Paranoid or not, Zadi would attempt to ask the flyers if this oval portal was the way to go. With the Wildman Charm, Zadi would start to speak;

"We don't mean any further harm as long as you don't attempt to harm us! We were just defending ourselves!"

Zadi then pointed towards the portal and asked, "What would it take for you two to tell us if this portal is going to lead us deeper into the dungeon or kick us out of it?"

With the stories circulating around this dungeon, one cannot be too sure. Even if Zadi got a proper answer from the flyers, it may just be the djinn's will talking through them. Then again, Zadi could tell if the flyers were lying. His increased perception and ability to detect white lies would help discern truth from fiction, more or less. Nobody is perfect.

Chimera eyes widened up as she saw the true scale of Zadi's and her own attack. She had managed to obliterate two of the flyers, unintentionally. The magnitude of her item was insane... Her thumb passed over the smooth shell, as she nestled it away into a pocket, not waiting to hold onto it any longer. The brunette had little remorse for having killed the mantis and the two pixies. It was a learning lesson, and she would only use the item under different circumstances.

Chimera looked into the portal assuming it would lead into the next area but Zadi was bit more hesitant, causing some doubt in her actions. She followed behind him and then spotted the two sprites that had survived. She didn't have anything else of danger on her persons Then hearing Zadi's words, perhaps this is where some had failed. Since the danger had passed, she had assumed they were to go further into the challenge, but she recalled the memory-lost faces of those who had returned from the dungeon. And she found the scene particularly peculiar, but she couldn't stop the hungry mantis except by death. Perhaps the pixies would be able to help them out and Zadi was two steps ahead of her.

The two Forest Mantis Pixies looked at them with suspicion, as if questioning Zadi's words. They did not move from the spot they were in, and instead cast sidelong glances at each other before nodding slowly. "You two... Killed our kin.. Why?" The looks of the creatures seemed to convey the sense of confusion and caution. They did not know who had thrown what spells, but they knew that the attacks that had killed the Thri-Kreen, and two of their sisters, had come from the house. Afraid of the gap of strength between what they believed were magicians before them, the both of the Forest Pixies kept what cover they could.

If there was no reasoning given, the two Pixies would simply stare on and refuse to speak, though they kept a strong alertness about them for any movements from either Zadi or Chimera. Once the reasoning was provided, only then would the Pixies continue speaking. "We will tell you of this portal... If you allow us to collect our fallen friends." They did not seem to be lying, as far as Zadi could tell. There was silence from the Pixies as they once again awaited an answer, this time to their request.

A choice would soon need to be made.

Zadi could tell that the flyers were angry, frustrated, and scared. Their reasoning was crystal clear. Strangers causing an explosion that not only killed the 'Thri-kreen' but also the flyer's brethren. They had a total right to feel the many emotions they felt right now. Unfortunately, Zadi had to put aside his own thoughts on the matter of the thri-kreens' obvious starvation and focus on 'pleasing' the flyers. It would be tough for any normal person to simply cast aside such blatant ill treatment, but for further progression into a better world, Zadi would have to get used to the darkness. Maybe even accept it. Embrace it.

"It was I who caused the explosion. I was too concentrated on my own well being that I didn't see your sisters chasing after the vicious Thri-Kreen whom I was attempting to obliterate. I apologize."

Hopefully Chimera would keep quiet and follow Zadi's lead. Zadi honestly didn't mind Chimera's actions and how they took place. Perhaps the flyers deserved it? At this point, Zadi was rather 'proud' that Chimera was able to use the Light Bomb when he was never able to. Chimera may have an aptitude towards magic that even Zadi doesn't have. All the same, if the flyers accepted the reasoning;

"The decision isn't up to us. Never has been. We won't get in the way of your retrieval."

Chimera sulked for a second. It wasnt in her nature to lie about her actions, but the conflicting feelings of insinuating Zadi was a liar was even worse. Chimera was more than well aware that they had to have a unified front if they were to make it out of the dungeon alive. She had bit her lip and shut her mouth. It wasnt as if she could even talk to them.

It was still true. "Zadi, can you ask them about their situation with the mantis beasts and these.... 'houses'?" She thought about speaking sarcastically, but perhaps her tone could still be interpretted. She simply sighed, speaking as calmly as possible on the situation. Making surnot to make any sudden moves to alarm the pixies.

As Zadi spoke to the Pixies, they paid close attention to both the contestant and companion. Neither noticed the hesitation that Chimera had shown; instead, they took Zadi's words at face value. Jittering their wings, the pixies looked from Chimera's team and then back to themselves. Nodding to themselves, they slowly flew out of their cover and passed into the building that Zadi and Chimera were in before. If no trouble was given, they would return with the remaining bodies of their comrades. They both split up the corpses, taking a locket of hair from each pixie and whispering a small blessing to their dead brethren.

They seemed to have been performing a ritual of some sort.

Once finished, they would push the bodies over the branch and into the water. They both looked towards Chimera and Zadi, getting ready to bolt at the slightest sense of hostile movement from either of them. "The portal will lead you deeper into the dungeon. There, you will face the results of your choices..." An ominous feeling emitted from the pixie as it made the statement.

A splashing sound echoed throughout the root systems of the giant tree they were beneath... And then, a sound of thunderous movement occurred. It was the sound of water being sucked up at an incredible rate. If either looked over the edge of the tree branch they would see the water level falling drastically.
