The Gate

Deep in the Jade Dragon Mountains, the remnants of a volcanic eruption can be found. If one were to venture close to the crater of the volcano, they would find a most startling discovery. Amidst the rocky crags and outcroppings of cooled lava, a Gate stands tall. A single path leads to this gate, guarded by two gargantuan stone figures holding swords. As someone takes the stone steps up to the Gate, they will find a landing approximately 20 meters wide with six Kou guards, standing at the ready. A person must approach these guards and hand over their ticket in order to gain access to the Gate. If they fail to hand over their ticket, these guards will not hesitate to use deadly force.

On either side of the landing, there is a 15 meter drop, at the end of which is molten earth, boiling and ready to devour any that might touch it. Watch your step and approach the guards to hand over your ticket.

[OOC NOTE: A reminder that anyone may enter the Gate topic, but only those with tickets may enter the dungeon. Also be aware this dungeon is KILL VIABLE, including the Gate topic.

You will have one round of posting to present your tickets. You may not touch the entrance until the next round of posting.]

Ari sat on the very edge of the crater, almost 100 meters from the Gate. Her eyes were fixed on entrance to the crater, eager to see any and all that might approach in hope to take on the dungeon she had raised. Her deal with the Contractor still buzzed at the back of her mind, but she ignored it, for now. People had been drifting in from around the world, eager to try and claim the riches and power for themselves. The guards were doing their jobs admirably, turning away those without tickets and knocking down those too persistent. She felt a pang of longing to enter the dungeon herself, just to see what was inside. All she had managed to gather from raising the dungeon was the aura of strength that leaked from the Gate. This Djinn craved someone with enough strength to challenge him, to claim his power as their own.

She swung her feet against the edge of the crater as she watched the newest batch of people starting to trickle towards the entrance, eagerly waiting for the two familiar faces she had been recently reunited with. Ayero and Azix had decided to take on the challenge of the dungeon. She wondered who might challenge them, so far several people had entered, but the dungeon still stood and the men had never exited the gate, so she assumed them to have fallen to the challenges of Eligos.

Azix sat cross-legged next to Ayero on her flying carpet. As the Dungeon loomed in sight, Azix stood up, exhaling slowly. ""O' Djinn of Plague and Pestilence, create a catalyst of change that infects corruption. Lend me the power to purify the world anew. Spread, Cimeies!" The chant activated his Djinn Equip form, altering his appearance in a swirl of a sickly green mist. He was here to accompany Ayero into the dungeon and to make sure that she got the Djinn. Azix was familiar enough with the Fanalis woman to know that she had the right personality to become a leader. He trusted that she would use the power for good, to prevent the world from falling into chaos. However, he didn't trust others to do the same. For that very reason, he was prepared to use force to prevent anyone else from getting it.

Eligos: The Gate [KILL VIABLE] OYuCwfk

Following over the path to the volcano, they soon arrived at a landing where six guards waited for the contenders. Azix would hand over his ticket when asked, ready to enter the dungeon. After handing over his ticket, Azix waited for Ayero to fly to the giant glowing door of the dungeon. Along the way, Azix turned to the Fanalis and spoke in a hushed tone. " If there is trouble, I want you to go in before me. I'll be right behind you." He jumped off the carpet, putting himself between the door and anyone else who approached. His hand tightened on his sword as he looked back to the landing. So far he didn't see anyone else, but if he did, then he would warn them to turn around. If they refused to leave, then he would have to convince them.

Ayero sat cross-legged on the carpet, long red waves trailing behind her as the carpet closed in on the dungeon gate. Kabu was wrapped around her body as per usual, and Tomato sat nearly in her lap. Her two swords, Vipsania and Gyatso hung from her waist, while Nergui and Vittoria were secured on her back. She had brought every weapon, every magic tool, every potion she owned with her to face Eligos. Dungeons were notorious for killing the unprepared, and Ayero hoped that her drive, skill and experience as a warrior would help her not only survive, but claim the power of Eligos for herself. She had made up her mind that she would let nothing stand in her way.

The past few days had been an emotional storm—frustration with the new circumstances, joy and relief at seeing her dear friend Ariella alive and well, confusion at the concept of a Magi, and now…the dungeon. Ayero shifted on the carpet in order to get more comfortable, but her attention was focused on the massive structure spiraling upwards from pool of lava and red-hot stone. This is the dungeon? It looks incredible. It looks…like something out of hell. The great pillars of stone and seething swaths of lava certainly added to the intense aura around the dungeon.

Though it looked incredibly dangerous, Ayero felt the Fanalis side of her begin to stir. She was a half-blood, and was generally able to keep her more hot-tempered emotions under wraps, but at times she couldn’t help but feel as if she was a pure-blood. The prospect of danger, power and fighting awoke a more vicious, battle-starved side to the woman. She knew from Azix that the dungeon would involve lots of fighting, both dungeon beasts and perhaps other contenders. She subconsciously licked her lips while her right hand hovered over Vipsania, finally coming to rest her wrist on the handle of the blade. She could hardly wait.

Part of Ayero’s impatience stemmed from what she could do with the dungeon’s power. She had experienced an unsettling amount of loss in her life, loss which led her to vow to protect those she could. The Fanalis had found a comfortable place in Reim’s military, but still yearned to do more. A few years ago she was concerned with only herself and to a lesser extent, the life of her brother. She would never have seen herself trying to gain such a fantastic power, but now she felt as if she had a purpose, and that there was room for her to expand. If I could gain so much strength in those few years, imagine what I could do with the power of a Djinn.

Ayero glanced over at Azix, watching as the man changed into his own Djinn equip. It was Azix who had first informed her of the existence of dungeons and their power, and it was Azix who believed that she would the right person to wield a Djinn’s magnificent power. Ayero believed this as well—she had spent long nights judging her own character and contemplating whether she was strong enough to resist corruption and help guide the world into a better age.

After handing over their tickets and making it past the guards, Ayero directed the carpet to the dungeon’s massive door. She turned her head towards Azix as he spoke, her gaze meeting his. Ayero’s crimson eyes reflected her trust in the man and she nodded solemnly, knowing that he would be able to handle himself. Though she teased him for being skinny and having a weak physical appearance, Ayero thought that Azix was very strong and clever in battle—she certainly wouldn’t want to face him in bad terms. When he had pointed his wand at her in anger after finding out that she knew about Ariella’s death but did not tell him, Ayero felt as if her heart was going to beat out of her chest.

As Azix jumped off of the carpet, Ayero hovered in mid-air beside him, curious to see whether any others would come to face Eligos.

The warrior had a look of awe on her face as she saw the gate to the dungeon, as she rode her giant pet that got closer and closer but the main feeling was excitement. So this was a dungeon, the girl had heard of them before but the stories could no match up with what she saw. It looked as if she was riding into her death, to the underworld which would hold her soul but the only thing she felt from looking at it was excitement. It filled her heart like a fire, this was the day she had been looking forward to for the longest of time, she would have the chance to get a Djinn. She had been going through difficulties and doubted herself because of her incident but even if she was having trouble overcoming her past she had to strive to become stronger and do what she thought was best. She would try to claim this power to aid her goal, so she could create the kingdom that she wanted.

Her eyes reflected the light of lava, the volcano was hot of course, it probably didn't help that she had some leather armor on but at least her hair was up, it would stop her neck from overheating at least and if necessary she could strip since she still had suitable clothing underneath. She brushed aside some of her white hair and looked, she had been in Kou for a month with Lagi so she could get her pet, after all she didn't want to be without him let alone go in the dungeon without Fluffy, it would be dangerous and she wanted to be as prepared as possible, she had all of her magical tools and her sword so she would be ready to fight. Lagi might have some useful gear but he was flying somewhere around on El drago, she would have rode with Lagi but he would hopefully understand that she wanted to ride her pet.

She gave a deep breath as she looked ahead, she had been through so much and had gotten stronger, this would surely be one of the biggest challenges of her life, she had no idea what type of people she would face. There was a chance there was someone more worthy than her but she had to try, the fanalis has to path her own path so she will push ahead and do her best to try and earn the Djinn, she was determined to fight for the Djinn and would do almost anything to earn it. The girl thought about the challenges, as she walked closer the gate she noticed a familiar face.

She saw that Ayero was here, she had no idea she would be coming to Kou but if she was here then she must be after the Djinn or helping someone, but she believed she was most likely here for the Djinn. She was accompanied by a strange man though, she had no idea who he was but they seemed to be together. Though she was curious she would not confront her at first since she was waiting for the beast tamer to arrive here at the gate. She hopped off her canine companion and would approach the guards, of course there were guards here though, it was a dungeon after all. When Lagi arrived here she would hand the ticket over to the guards and tell them that she and him would be going in together. She moved some of her white hair waiting in anticipation for the adventure.

“Roaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrr” El Drago made a violent screech as if he was making a statement, the roar echoed all around the jade dragon mountains. It was rather fitting that the jade dragon mountains now had the presence of a dragon among them. Lagi rode onto of El drago with a tight grip. “Speed check….. “ El drago grunted and the used his top speed to do a bunch of somersaults and zoomed past around the area, a few ties at 25 m/s and then landed close by near merrze. “ Peak condition, I wouldn’t say I feel younger, but that massage you gave me on my wings last night did the trick. “El drago then snorted out some lightning from his nose as he revealed a bit of information. I seem to have caught a good glance at the few of the candidates, a few that you might know or so, they look familiar enough. Ms. Shiba, and kou representative.
Lagi whistled as he walked next to merrze and waited. “Maybe they are here to wish us good luck, that’s pretty nice of them. “ El drago rolled his eyes as he stretched his wings out. ‘They could be challengers as well, I hope your bond with them wont cloud your judgement, for whose sake that you are here right now. “ Lagi looked at Merrze , but quickly looked away with an embarrassed look on his face. “I-its not like I planned anything…we were invited! Remember? El drago chuckled a little bit, but kept a serious look on his face . Yea yea…..” After that small conversation, Lagi would then point too himself “ The dragon Emperor , Lagi EL Nagi…. And…as you can guess…that’s my dragon…. We will be accompanying her. “ Lagi would say as he pointed at merrze.
“orie!!” Orie plopped up from lagi’s finger and did a sharp salute with her gooey arms before going back inside. Orie seemed ready for this as well.

Ari arched a brow when she saw Azix and Ayero approach. Her lover’s immediate transformation from his metal vessel did not surprise her, per se, but it was still a chilling sight to see. She had seen how dangerous that form could be and she felt a pang of worry for any other challenger of the dungeon. Just then, she saw a shadow in the sky, a silhouette of a dragon, still too far to be seen. Below, a familiar creature walked up the path, accompanied by a figure with white hair. It took her several moments to realize the person leading the larger Fluffy was, in fact, Merrze.

“What on earth did she do to her hair?

She did not have long to wonder on this as the shadow of the dragon became clearer and she saw Lagi and El Drago land near Merrze. She snorted, having assumed the shadow belonged to another dragon rumored to be in the area. Of course Lagi would be here, trying to claim even more fortune for his already growing stack of riches, wondering how he was explaining his appearance in the foreign country and how Yoshiro would react when he found out the Emperor of Reim was in his country without word being sent to Yoshiro beforehand. She had approved of Ayero taking on the dungeon, trusting her friend with the power it could grant her, but she had her worries about some of the others showing up. Merrze had shown herself to be quite reckless before, rushing into battles she was not prepared for, but much time had passed since then. Maybe her new hair color was a physical manifestation of some inner resolve she had found. But Lagi had already shown what he did with power and it worried her. He was far too immature to handle the power of a Djinn. While he had good intentions, he still did not have the maturity and experience to know how to lay out his plans in a fruitful way.

Her brow lifted further as both Merrze and Lagi seemed to completely ignore the warning from the green figure that was her lover. She knew no one else present would realize it was Azix, the swirling magic of the metal vessel hid his appearance, completely transforming him from Azix Niraj into something wholly different, but the lack of concern shown by Merrze and Lagi just solidified the idea in her mind that neither were ready to try and take on the dungeon, not if they ignored such a blatant warning.

The guards took the ticket from both parties before glancing worriedly between the two groups. It was their job to make sure only those with tickets entered, they had not been told what to do if there was conflict between the groups. The guards shifted to move further down the steps, pushing back some of the random individuals who had shown up without a ticket. Farmers and fighters, adventurers from Kou and around the world had come to try their hand at her creation, but many did not have the funds necessary to purchase a ticket. Ari wondered if maybe one of those too poor for a ticket might be more worthy of tackling the dungeon, unrest rising in her chest at the idea of the dungeon being used as a means to buy power. Was it fair, to charge a fee to enter the dungeon? Were only the rich viable candidates to tackle this challenge?

She sighed and shifted on the edge of the crater, slipping her carpet free and stepping on to it, her eyes glued to the four people below, waiting to see what would happen if Merrze and Lagi continued to ignore Azix’ warning.

'Tsk, they aren't backing down.' Azix let out a sigh and turned to Ayero, giving her a stiff nod to enter ahead of him. He then raised his silver blade, giving her a moment to get in while he shouted out to Lagi and Merrze. "I warned you. I don't want to do this, but I can't have just anyone conquer this dungeon."

Azix exhaled softly, "Infect Everything!" A magic circle formed at Azix's feet and a sickly, green mist formed in a one hundred meter diameter around him, one edge covering the way to the entrance behind him, and the rest going past the platform that the contenders stood on, twenty meters away. Azix stood in the center of the mist, protected within the eye of the storm, which held enough room for just him. If Lagi and Merrze tried to head to the door or didn't move away, they would find themselves caught in the mist. The mist would chase after them if they moved, centered so that it would hit both if it could. Anyone caught within would be infected with a plague that melted their organs on contact.

The King Candidate kept his sword at the ready, watching to see how Lagi and Merrze dealt with his extreme magic. Azix felt sorry for the guards, they would be caught in the cross-fire most likely, but he had no choice.

El Drago was a pretty wise dragon for what it’s worth, and he was already on edge when it came to the appearance of  whatever form that Azix was taking and ayero. They might have fought together before but things change. Though el drago was brave, his partner lagi seemed deadest on traversing the dungeon to get on merrze’s good side, so he decided to let lagi have his way. Though, he had a responsibility in protecting first and foremost, but he knew that lagi would care for these humans,  even the guards.  Deep down inside, he knew how fragile lagi’s heart was when it came to his friends attacking him, so this was going to end  terribly.

“ Lagi!” El drago would say to get the king’s attention as  he used his  shock throne Gatling in the form of the burst towards the overflowing death cloud. Lagi felt that was something was wrong, considering his peripheral  vision, el drago's warning, and orie's sensitivity to danger incoming the host body and  snapped at it with his snap shockwave, and then  with his other free hand  to use vertigo inducement, which need no forewarning before taking effect whatsoever. Considering how big the cloud was, there was plenty of space to attack in unison at different point  of the extreme magic attack, just so that they can avoid clashing each other.  Onto of the fact that the speed of the attack was  insane, it was all tanks to simple fluid movements of Lagi snapping his fingers, and the fact that el drago didn’t need to say the name of the spells that he was using when evoking lightning magic, as well as the attack being  generated from his body. The total  would of added up to omega tier with both of Lagi’s a ranks, with the omega tier move from el drago, adding up to extreme  magic equivalence.

It was an aoe like burst and  the wave of the  sound magic would have been treated as an aoe as well. Even if   this was enough to protect lagi and at least el Drago from the attack, it would of at least opened up a safe zone gap of  25 Meters from their position in order to protect merrze and the guards  “ A sneak attack? On me?!  After I saved your life too?!!!!!!  Lagi was upset and angry at the fact that this wasn’t even new to him. Eventually, the people he loves will leave him and eventually the people he calls friends and care about will betray him. All it did was make him angry.

Ayero nearly had to do a double take as a white haired girl riding a familiar beast made it past the guards. When she realized where she recognized the beast from, Ayero focused on its rider’s face. …Merrze?! What happened to her hair?!  After that scuffle with the Black Spiders and being put on leave, I thought she’d be recuperating…maybe this is how she intends to recuperate? Ayero’s eyes narrowed as she tried to get a better look at the other Fanalis, still taken aback by her snow-white locks.

A roar resonating in the distance caught her attention, causing her to pick up her head as she tried to figure out from which direction the sound came. Ayero did not have to wait long for a dragon to appear from the volcanic smoke, its roar bouncing off of the great pillars of stone as it performed acrobatic tricks in the air before landing beside Merrze. The older Fanalis rolled her eyes at the showy antics, eager to begin exploring the dungeon.

When the new pair seemed to ignore Azix’s warning, Ayero responded to Azix’s nod in kind before turning towards the dungeon entrance, gripping the carpet tightly in one hand. She admired the great glowing gate with a sense of awe for a moment before reaching out to touch it, the sound of Azix’s chant fading into nothing…

The fanalis sat there for a moment as the attacks of the two men had clashed, now that whatever that was destroyed she needed to think of a plan. She wasn't going to do something stupid and get herself killed, she was going to think of a proper plan and what would most likely work for her more strategically. The first option that came the to fanalis mind was that she could rush the gate, by the looks of it once she touched she would be teleported somewhere but there were of course risks with this plan. The man in their path would be blocking her from entering, she could try to run past him but there is a good chance that he would attack her and possibly kill her before she could touch the gate. If she got inside there was a good chance the two of them would continue fighting. Based on his attack their opponent seemed stronger. If she left there was a good chance that Lagi could be killed.

The girl sighed, on the outside she looked calm but on the inside she was slightly worried, there was a chance that she would die but it was a risk she was going to take in order to acquire the power of a Djinn. As she examined solutions she thought of another plan, she had never been in one but she could tell dungeons were a danger. The man couldn't wait out here too long or they would be separated most likely and possibly get injured. Alone she was sure she would lose against him but the two of them could overwhelm him and force him into the dungeon. Sure Aye would have a head start but this would give her and Lagi the chance to go in together. It would seem like a brute plan at first but to looking at from a standpoint it was the best way to get her and the Dragon Emperor into the Dungeon at the same time.

The lioness looked across to the man with a fierce gaze, she was past the days were she killed for nothing but now she only killed for a reason. She was not going to abandon Lagi and risk it. What would running away solve besides possibly get them both killed by the man opposing them. She was a the leader right now so she had to decide what was best for them, two warriors and two deadly monsters against one man. She stood her ground then looked at Lagi and spoke

"Lagi I want you to hit this man with everything you've got. I'm not letting him stop me from achieving my goals or make me abandon you."

As she said this Fluffy moved to her side and they began their assault, she had Fluffy fire a Roaring Inferno at him then she herself pointed her slime glove at him and shot a stream of slime and with her left hand she held her shocking pendant and fired a lightning bolt at him. She planned to show her mettle, she had no plans of dying or being reckless, she had to do what she thought was right and what was the most beneficial. The white girl was beginning her assault, it might seem dumb to some but she had no intentions of backing down, she was afraid that she could lose everything but she just had to try.

Ari watched everything from her perch by the edge of the crater. The billowing mist of sickly green plague, the returning clash of spells from Lagi, Lagi’s angry, nonsensical words, and Merrze’s careless plan. The entire interaction made her even more certain that neither Lagi nor Merrze were deserving of the power held within the dungeon. Lagi was not even paying enough attention to his surroundings to have heard the warning Azix had given, claiming it was a ‘sneak attack’ after simply ignoring a blatant warning. If he could not even pay attention to a glowing green man that had an aura of death and claimed after being warned that it was sneaking, he had no business with the power of a Djinn. It simply reinforced how the man did not think ahead or pay attention to the world around him.

Merrze was not much better, ignoring the warning as well. Then the young Fanalis woman simply retaliated with a series of spells instead of asking the green figure of Azix why he would attack. She had not done a very good job of assessing her situation. Instead of accurately assessing her surrounding threats, she simply attacked carelessly. The last time she had rushed in, without considering the strength of her opponent, she had nearly lost her leg. It confirmed for Ariella that the girl was not mature enough to handle the power of a djinn, not yet. The girl had so many more options… asking questions of her opponent, pushing out more effective spells, retreating and simply waiting until Azix had entered, but Merrze had ignored all of those options to toss out small attacks at what was standing between her and the gate.

Ari sighed, rubbing her temples. She worried for Ayero, the woman would be left alone inside of the dungeon the longer Azix remained outside. While she trusted in the strength of her friend, a dungeon was no place to be alone. Part of her wondered how long Azix planned to try and hold off the other entrants from the Gate portal. She understood his reasoning, but she feared he may have also forgotten that it was not truly his place to judge the competitors, it was ultimately up to the djinn within the dangerous walls of the dungeon. It would be the djinn that decided who was most worthy to walk out with his power.

The fighting between Azix, Lagi and Merrze had spark a fervor in the crowds of people wanting to tackle the challenge beginning to grow near the guards, the people from around the world growing restless and eager, trying to push their way forward. She did not know what would happen if the crowd managed to overcome the guards, who were trying to split their attention between the group of fighters and the crowd. This could spell death and disaster for many, and the entrance had only been breached by Ayero so far. Ariella continued to watch, eager to see what would happen next. She felt a vested interest in the people competing for the dungeon she had raised.

Azix noticed a swirl of yellow and blue Rukh swirl around Lagi and his dragon as they flung spells to clash with the cloud of plague. He huffed in annoyance to see his most powerful spell beaten so easily. 'Fate must not want them dead yet.' Such a fickle thing, fate was. The invisible will of the universe was starting to rub him the wrong way.

As he considered his options, Azix heard Merrze shout instructions to Lagi. Even though he was this far away, the orange magician could hear the white-haired girl quite clearly. It was odd that she hadn't heard him shout his warning, but perhaps that was due to her Fanalis heritage. If Azix had to guess based on this evidence, a Fanalis' hearing was inferior to that of humans. He would have to ask Ayero later, in case Merrze was an exception.

For now, however, he had to focus on Merrze as she prepared her attacks. Azix smirked, with the distance between them, it would be no problem to avoid whatever she threw at him. While he wanted to stop Lagi and Merrze from entering the dungeon, Ayero was in there alone. From experience, he knew she wasn't actually alone, which was part of the problem. At the very least, the orange magician had given her a headstart.

As a fireball, a stream of slime, and a lightning bolt began to fly towards him, Azix spread his arms out and fell back into the door. As soon as he came into contact with the door, he released his hold on his Djinn Equip and felt himself pulled into another dimension. By the time the spells reached the spot where he had been previously, Azix would be gone. He wouldn't even get to see that one of Merrze's abilities, the slime ball, fizzle out five meters before it would have hit him. If he had seen that, it would have been further proof that the Fanalis girl was not prepared to take a Djinn. How could she expect to protect those she cared for, if she couldn't properly gauge her abilities?

The fanalis gave a sigh of relief, her plan managed to work without Lagi having to attack, the enemy was most likely able to stop her attacks but like she assumed he probably wouldn't risk leaving his partner alone for much longer. Hopefully next time they crossed paths it wouldn't start with them crossing swords and they would be able to talk things out. The fanalis knew there were troubles ahead but she wanted to avoid killing people unless she necessarily had to. At least now she could safely enter the dungeon without possibly getting hit by whatever the strange man could conjure. She was excited for the adventure ahead, she didn't plan on dying, after all she couldn't let herself die. The white haired girl was going to make it through this alive.

"Come one Lagi let's go into the dungeon now, I know that might have seemed rash but I was trying to get him to go into the Dungeon, this seemed like the most effective solution it wouldn't give them that much of a head start if per say we left."

It was most likely luck but she was glad he went to chase after Ayero. She sighed and started to walk up to the gate, she wondered if it would feel strange when she touched it. She would assume the king would touch it soon after her, the white haired girl placed her hand on the dungeon and let herself get sucked in, it was time to begin the adventure.

Ari arched a brow as her lover fell back into the Gate. Any other would touch the Gate with a sense of trepidation or nervousness, but not him. This would be his third entry into a dungeon and he simply let himself fall into the Gate, knowing that whatever lay on the other side would grant someone a great deal of power.

She could see Lagi and Merrze discussing something, but she paid it no mind as they touched the Gate. Part of her wanted to go and touch the Gate, too, just to have a chance at glimpsing the universe from that perspective once more. Not much put things into perspective quite like seeing the rivers of Rukh and the stream connecting this world to the world the dungeon existed in. But this was a battle for those that had entered, not for her. She had to trust the Djinn to choose wisely.
