Ashtver awoke to the sun streaming into his eyes, the rock beneath his back somewhat comfortable. He slowly and lazily sat himself up and stretched, yawning his drowsiness away. He kept himself propped up with his hands and looked out into the sky above the tree he took his nap under. Jeez, another day? How long has it been since I left Meggan's house? A day? Three? A whole week?. Ashtver just couldn't keep up with dates now, as he adjusted to the mountains just outside the main city in the Kou Empire. He fished through the pack at his left and whipped out a small scroll before unrolling it, displaying a map. His next plan was to make his way somewhat far away from his old home and towards Magnostadt. He could probably find some people to tease, stalls to rob, other things you would find a delinquent like himself doing. He packed the map back up and stood, his cloak flapping a little. He dusted himself off and strode over towards a medium-sized gap between two sides of a mountain and felt for his wire. In a few seconds, he felt his index finger tugged on the steel thread and he pulled it harder, causing the wire to spring together, possibly binding a limb if someone had have been there. He attached the the wire to the spool to his right and reeled it in, leaving a small amount for him to grab. He made his way through the gap and out into the open - well, as open as you can get in a mountainous region.
He continued to walk on, until he heard a rustling in a nearby tree. He started and reached for his wires as he turned to face what he felt was danger. All it was was a bird, medium in stature, covered in thin feathers. At this moment, Ashtver's stomach began to growl.
"Right... I haven't eaten since yesterday afternoon..." he told himself bitterly. He silently reeled out one wire, then slinging it out, dart-like, at the bird.
The aftermath was smoke rising into the air and the smell of cooking meat.
