Seti Vault MFho3Wf

Name: Sutekh Al-zahabi
Nickname: Seti, The Golden Sage
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Bisexual

Date of Birth: 5th April
Age: 25
Race: Human
Country Affiliation: Heliohapt

PERSONALITY

Likes
Company | Seti is very much the kind of person who enjoys being in other people's company; making them happy, doing things for others, even helping people through the rough times - his years of isolation has made him thankful for even the most basic of interactions with other people.

Power | As an ex-slave, Seti has become very obsessed with the concept of power. Knowing that he's above other people, that he can destroy people if he so pleases, and knowing that he has the ear of the King - it is an exhilarating rush and something that he will continue to gather until there's no further to go.

Wine | Though Seti is by no means a hedonist or an alcoholic, Seti constantly drinks and even carries a small flask of wine on his body at all times. However, beyond the mere pleasure of drinking, he also finds it remarkably useful as medicine and as a makeshift painkiller.

Dislikes
Confrontations | Perhaps bizarre for someone who is entangled in the minutia of court politics, Seti despises the nature of confrontations with people. This does not mean that he will hold back from a fight, or refuses challengers to his position. It simply means he doesn't derive the usual thrill from it most people enjoy.

Priests | Unusually for a man from Heliohapt, Seti does not like priests or the concept of religion as a whole. This is because of his desire to spread enlightenment - In Heliohapt, and every other country that he has seen religion spread, religion interferes with being able to understand the world properly. It gives easy, and wrong, answers to impossibly hard questions, thus fostering a refusal to search.

Slaves | This one should, really, be obvious. Seti's history as a slave has led to a life long hatred of the institution that turned him into chattel. Because of this, he has actively spoken out against the amount of slaves that heliohapt has in the past, and though he would never go against the Pharoah publically, is known to spend a good 10% of his yearly wages emancipating slaves.

Phobias
Athazagoraphobia :: The fear of being forgotten |  As someone who was subjected to isolation for almost six months, Seti is absolutely terrified that he will be forgotten about and that nobody will bother trying to find or talk with him. This is especially difficult as a lot of his work requires he spend time in dusty old libraries where nobody goes.

Cleisophobia :: The fear of being locked in tight spaces | As with most slaves, Seti is terrified of unable to get out of tight spaces, such as a cage or the hot box. It is because of this that a lot of his spells were designed to blast open any confines, giving him access to freedom should things turn nasty.

Mastigophobia :: The fear of being punished | Once again tied to his days as a slave, Seti is terrified of having others angry at him. Though he's willing to fight when he believes he's done nothing wrong, he actively tries to avoid starting fights or being rude to others because he's been conditioned to feel that that will get him punished.

Aspirations As it currently lies, Seti has two major aspirations. The first of which is becoming more powerful. Whether this by gaining more knowledge, gaining more allies, or whatever other means that he is forced to take. As long as he becomes more powerful, it is unlikely that he will have too many scruples.

His second motivation, quite frankly, is to see the world. He was ordered by the magister to find out more about the situation in Kou and Reim, and he's eager to follow through with it as he will get to see so much more of the world than he once thought was ever possible.

Personality: Seti, for a member of the Pharoah's court, is a remarkably kind and gentle young man. It's not in his heart to enjoy seeing others miserable, and it is indeed a true and honest pursuit of his life to be able to see as many others happy as is possible within his means.

That being said, that doesn't mean that he's weak. Despite his affection for other people, his years as a slave convinced him of one thing above all - It is no good cursing your fate, you have to shape your own future with your hands. Because of this, he's willing to do whatever it takes to grow in power even further, even if he won't enjoy doing it.

The last thing to really note about him is his love of learning. He has spent the last two years in Magnostadt at the orders of the Pharoah's Magister, and with the kerfuffle around the world, this job just became a lot more important. After all, a country without a representative in every country of interest is going to find themselves swamped with issues sooner rather than later.

Yet, despite being in place to see some of the worst violence and brutality in the world, he's still not completely soured as a person and his rukh are still perfectly white. The reason why is simple; His witnessing of the dark side of the world allows the light to shine all the brighter, granting him his "natural" optimism. After all, put next to what he's been put through, Reim's currently absolutely fine.

APPEARANCE

Height: 5' 10'' | 178 cm
Weight: 64 Kg | 141. 5 lbs

Hair Color: White
Eye Color: Gold

Appearance: Physically, there is very little to set him out from among other Heliohaptians. He has long white hair and tanned skin like all his brothers, and the only really dynamic thing about him is his soft, golden eyes that somehow seem to have maintained their innocence even after everything that he's gone through.

However, it is in his clothes that Seti distinguishes himself. In the court, jewelry and fineries are what marks someone out as more or less important, and considering the importance of his job it's little wonder how adorned with jewels he is. A necklace of pearls sits around his neck at all times and a bandana coated in gold rests on his forehead. A multitude of rings and beaded bracelets hold the rest of his jewels. Despite how ostentatious this sounds, it's actually a lot more moderate than the usual member of the court.

In terms of physical clothes, Seti prefers a more simplistic taste. White (Due to its ability to refract light and keep him cool) with reds adorn his body, though his actual clothes tend to be heavy robes and cloaks, as is custom for his magister role. As of late, however, he's taken to wearing waistcoats and shirts as they're easier to travel in.

HISTORY

History: Everyone assumes that slaves hate their work and that they despise their masters for forcing them to live such terrible lives. However, the people who say this are thinking about first generation slaves. When someone is born into slavery and has never seen anything but slavery, they seem to think that it is natural. Especially if their mother was also not a first generation slave, as then they don't have stories of freedom to give them dreams above their station.

This was certainly the case for Slave 4-98. In the camp that he was born into, people weren't even given names, instead they were just given numbers to designate them. He was from the fourth camp, and he was the eighth person to be born there since it's creation, hence the name. He had no idea who his mother was as he never got the chance to meet her, and instead was just made to work as soon as he was physically capable.

The endless work and the cruelty of his masters made him learn to survive quickly. He was always known as one of the more obedient slaves, seeing other people suffer was enough to set him pretty straight. However, even this honest attempt at obedience didn't ensure that he was unable to avoid punishments.

Despite how the work acted to stifle any attempt at individuality, there was one thing that set him out. The other slaves considered him "crazy" as he frequently talked about being able to see tiny little birds that nobody else noticed.

The vast majority of the slaves had white birds around them, but a few of the more recent additions (read: First generations) were black and even being around them made him feel physically ill. He even asked his masters what they meant a few times, but he was just written off as "defective product" and forced to work even harder in the simpler jobs.

---

It wasn't until his thirteenth birthday that he found out that he wasn't just insane. He'd long since stopped asking people, confining himself to a life as "defective product". However, his adolescence had appeared to awaken something in him as, one day, his punishment was stopped by a strange golden light that wrapped around his body like a bubble. Of course, his master took it as a sign of aggression, and the moment it died down he was thrown in the hotbox.

The next day, after spending an entire night struggling to fall asleep whilst not touching any of the walls, everything changed for him. According to his master, he was a mage - a magically gifted individual. That meant he was going to be one of the few people to actually be sold rather than be used by the caravan.

Apparently, important figures would pay to have mages in their employ, especially since their close relationship to Magnostadt meant that it would look bad for them to openly keep mages as slaves. Because of this, he found himself being sold to an old man out by the river as an "assistant".

---

This job was a dream come true compared to his years of slavery. His master was a surprisingly gentle old man, obsessed with learning. He didn't care that much if 4-98 got hurt during their experiments, but he at least had the common decency to give him a name; "seti" - literally "golden pillar", due to their light magic.

Over the next five years, Seti became more and more proficient with their magic. He spent his free time in his master's library, and this level of dedication to the craft as well as his blossoming skill with magic was enough to get the man's interest spiked enough to bring him to the pharoah.

Being brought in front of the Pharoah was incredibly nerve-wracking - Regardless of Seti's own beliefs, Ramses was well and truly convinced that he was a god, so a single misstep or a badly phrased sentence could wind up with him getting killed for "heresy". Still, being a slave for so long had taught him how to avoid being punished by a master, so he thankfully managed to avoid any major screw ups.

It seemed Ramses was interested in him enough that he was given the role of court magician. This was really nothing THAT impressive - there were a good thirty magicians working under the current Magister, and he was almost certain they were all more skilled than he was. Or, at least, the vast majority. There were a few here or there that he was certain were on his level, but that didn't exactly help matters.

That being said, the position came with several perks. Gold, fineries, women, wine, a proper name (Seti was formalized to Sutekh Al-zahabi; sutekh the golden, for his magic) but more important than all of the rest - power. Sure, he wasn't anywhere near the top, but this was the first time that people had bowed before him rather than expecting the opposite. The feeling was intoxicating, even more so than a fine wine (which he now had plenty of access to). He wanted to get more... or, rather, he had to get more.

In an attempt to make him more useful to the Pharoah, the current magister sent him and his fellow new initiates away to go and study in Magnostadt. Of course, they went without complaint (both because they wanted to see the world outside of Heliohapt and because arguing with a man that answered to the Pharoah was tantamount to heresy), and so for two full years Seti found himself studying in the halls of Mangostadt.

It was a wonderful place - amazing learning, wonderful people, some of the greatest minds in the entire world working together in the same city. He couldn't blame people for spreading the wonderful myths about it that he had heard, nor could he blame the slave masters for not wanting to upset them.

That being said, before he could finish his third year, he was sent news that the Pharoah had passed away. He requested further orders, wondering if he should come back and assist the new Pharoah in setting things up, but instead he got orders to investigate the current situation in Reim. The Magister was worried that things might be even worse than they seemed, and it would be inherently difficult for him to leave the country without getting a lot of attention.

So, duty called, and he answered - as he always had and always would.

Role-Play Sample: ~~Post from another character~~

The concept of ghosts is innately terrifying to assassins. soldiers and murderers; the concept that someone you killed, no matter if you were in the right or wrong doing so, could come back and make your life miserable was something that people had been thinking about for centuries. The concept of ghosts, ghasts, spectres, apparitions or spirits had been traced to every culture, so it was no surprise that many people believed in them.

Now, Jian was a sensible man and he was certain that there was no such thing as a ghost, and that everything could be explained through logic and the application of the Reiman art of "science", but so far they'd never been able to explain what mages claimed were rukh, and in the ancient legends of the magi, it said that they could see rukh in the form of spirits. These were probably urban legends, something to bind the human imagination, but the fact that they actually managed to worry Jian was something that he'd hoped to never have to dwell about.

The fact was, if ghosts were real, he would be due a haunting by more than a few of them. Ever since he was little more than a child he had killed people for money, whether they be prince or pauper. Admittedly, they had all been people who deserved it and had abused people so much that it was safer for them to be dead than alive, but they probably didn't feel the same way. If they had the chance, how many of those people would come back and make his life a living hell?

It was this concept that made the news from his guild mates in Typhon a horror to behold. He'd only just joined, more out of fondness for his friend Jahan than any real motivation towards the guild's goals... whatever they were. The reason for him joining didn't matter, what mattered was that people respected him as somewhat of a veteran of the battlefield and this caused them to come to him hoping for some sort of help doing the more difficult missions.

Since he'd joined the guild, Jian'd been working on other missions for outside contractors. He'd not done anything that would earn too much money within the confines of the guild so far, so he had been happy at first to get this job. That was, until they mentioned what he would be doing. People said there were ghosts, or as they called them "boo"s haunting the house and they wanted him to take them out.

Liking the concept of being paid, Jian hadn't raised any problems when he had been offered that cash. He didn't argue about how he was supposed to attack a spirit, something that every culture argued was immaterial and more of a being of pure energy than anything else, he just took the job and laughed at the younger male's silliness. What an easy way to get a job, eh?

That was, until he had gone into the upper floors of the hall that the typhon members used as a home. Decrepit places like this had never actually scared him before this, he'd fought through graveyards and recent battlefields where the corpses were piled high and so fresh they still smelled of blood and meat, and that had never made him feel even the slightest bit uncomfortable. Yet, now that he was standing there, he couldn't ignore the cold sweat that was forming on his forehead. This had to be some sort of a magical phenomenon, right? It couldn't simply be supernaturalism.

That was when he thought about something. There were supposedly items across this world that were able to bring people back from the dead with life magic, and he'd actually seen such a thing happen in front of his very eyes. So, why was it so implausible that those without bodies would be brought back as more of a creature than a human. Where would your soul go if your body was destroyed?

It was then that he realized just how dry the back of his throat was. Okay, he was clearly overthinking this. As he pulled out his wand, he prepared to come face to face with whatever monster had actually been causing the disturbances around the guild. It wasn't a ghost, the concept of ghosts were stupid, so it had to be something else, right? Right. Logic, that was what was going to save Jian from getting scared and paranoid.
