Garret finished reading the document on his communications officer and sighed. There was quite a bit to read up on, though he was nearly finished with all of the documents. He considered the words on the document for a moment, letting his thoughts wander and the words sink in, before reading it over again.

The agent named Ryo Nakano, an agent whose origins are from Kou, is currently working in the Reim operations under the code name of Lucanus Albinus. At 48 years of age, born on the twenty first day of the ninth month, he has an impressive and extensive career. The words 'thorough' and 'methodical' best describe Ryo Nakano. Favoring the use of logic over instinct, the man is known for his ability to quickly assess a situation accurately through approaching such situations from multiple angles. Ryo Nakano's thoroughness leaks into his daily lifestyle, appearing in his desire to be punctual and prepared for whatever expected or unexpected situation he may find himself in.

Ryo Nakano has shown a strong effort towards rooting out the traitors who orchestrated the rebellion fifteen years ago. His efforts included intercepting their communications and hunting down individual pockets of corruption. This is, perhaps, the greatest achievement attributed to the man who now works in Reim as the lead of communications, using various methods in order to retain a secure network of communications. This man's natural hair color is black, and his eyes are brown. He stands at a height of one hundred and sixty seven centimeters, and weighs in at seventy kilograms. A muscular man, Ryo Nakano has gone through operative training and is proficient in several different weapons. His martial arts proficiency is a shadow of its former self, however, as his primary duties now have him overseeing communications. He retains a strong body, but does not stand out as a dangerous man.

Not much is known of Ryo Nakano's past, as he had been raised by the previous spymaster from a young age alongside Takahashi Sato. The two often competed in their childhood, seeing who could perform and obtain the greatest achievements. While it is common for those who compete with each other to advance in position to begin to have a growing hatred or distrust for the other, these two seemed to feed off of each others accomplishments and the rivalry only worked to bring them closer together.

Twenty years ago, when the prior spymaster retired, the two were tasked to fight each other to the death in order to determine the new spymaster. Choosing to instead step down from the position, Ryo Nakano decided to serve as Takahashi Sato's right-hand man. It is commonly believed among those that are aware of this that the two saw each other as brothers, and that Ryo Nakano's desire to not be held down by such a high position outweighed his desire to outstrip his long-time rival in rank.

Fifteen years ago, after the plot of the rebellion was revealed, Ryo Nakano worked hard in removing and digging out all traitors who participated. His dedication and assistance in these endeavors were praiseworthy, as he not only removed a large portion of the opposing movement's various leaders, but the Spymaster's organization simultaneously placed the fear of repercussions for revolts within the citizens of the country. This stymied and stabilized the country, allowing it to focus on expansion.

Though this expansion expressed itself against the nomads, an even larger opportunity showed itself seven years after the rebellion. There was an expedition to Reim in order to set up a system of operatives there for the eventual takeover of the country. Knowing the entire situation was in alignment with Ryo Nakano's desires, spymaster Takahashi Sato sent his long-time rival to the new branch in order to provide his experiences, insights and capabilities to the operations that would take place there in the following eight years.

Throwing the read documents into the fireplace, Garret looked towards the window. He had chosen a new Inn, once again, under the assumption that he was being watched and followed. Though Garret had originally wanted to go to their ex-HQ with the goal of securing a much safer place to sleep, he knew that he would instead have to refrain from doing so. This was because going to that location would most likely reveal it to whomever was watching for him. The safety and security of the operations were held first and foremost, a command that he had followed ever since he first joined the operations in Reim. Garret sighed, walking over to the window and looking out to the streets of Narpolia. He went over his plan, once more, within his mind before closing the shades of the window and putting the fire out in the fireplace. It was late, and it was the time he would normally go to sleep.

Instead of doing so, Garret worked on setting up his pillows. He carefully placed them beneath the blanket, taking advantage of the extra pillows he had requested earlier in order to execute this plan. With these pillows set in such a way, he was able to make it look like somebody was still sleeping in the bed. From there, the Spymaster hid to the side of the fireplace, allowing him to stay out of sight of the doorway while giving him a decent vantage point to watch the bed from. His dark clothing helped him blend into the darkness, and Garret covered a majority of his face with a hood while he sat there with Kuroi Shimo, his wand, in hand. He slowed his breathing, becoming silent in the dead of night, and simply waited there. Watching.

Time passed. How long has it been? An hour? Two? The night felt infinitely longer as the Blue Magician waited for assassins to appear. At least one had gotten away last night. Will he return? Will more be sent? As the time passed on, Garret began to wonder if that was the last of the group that was after him. Yet with a patience that was based from his training as a young man, Garret stuck to his original plan and waited. After more time passed, Garret's patience won out. He heard the lock on the door to his right make a rattling noise. The noise stopped, and then continued once more for a brief moment.

Had he not been hiding to the side of the fireplace and, therefore, out of sight of the door, Garret would have been watching it closely. Instead, he was simply watching straight ahead, towards the bed. As he did so, he caught movement out of the side of his vision and to the left. A hand had reached through a hole in the window that was silently cut, unlocking the window. Garret could barely see the outline of the shadow of that hand through the curtains. He held his breath, and sat perfectly still. There were two of them. After the one on the other side of the fireplace had opened the door, the one immediately in front of Garret came in through the window.

The two were very much like the assassins he had seen the other day, and they approached his bedside quietly. They both poised themselves. The Bladed Assassins struck out, both at the same time, with their weapons. It was at this exact moment that Garret decided to attack as well. While their blades were falling down upon the 'figure' beneath the covers, Garret spoke commands to the Rukh and cast Jet Stream upon one of them, using two highly pressurized jet streams of water to cut into the leg of one of the Bladed Assassins. Just as the blades fell down upon the pillows and they realized their mistake when hearing Garret's commands, Garret's stream of water struck the man who had crawled through the window. The water split skin tissue apart and cut further, deeper, going so far as to strike against the tendons and muscles of the man's legs. The man let out a scream of pain, though his teammate immediately responded to the attack and closed the distance between himself and Garret. The Bladed Assassin attacked Garret, kicking Garret in the face while he was still sitting.

The Blue Magician's Borg flared up, defending him from the damage, yet Garret recoiled slightly and fell towards the ground. Knowing that lying down upon the ground would only be a disadvantageous condition, Garret performed an Ukemi, slamming his hand against the ground and pushing himself up onto his feet. The technique was a quick move set that he had learned from the Judo master Murata Fusao. Just as Garret had gotten back up on his feet, however, the Bladed Assassin had attacked him with a Baleful Strike. Having not had a chance to get the best of his footing, Garret's Borg flared up once again and absorbed the blow dealt by his opponent. The Spymaster grunted, positioning his hands in a ready position while preparing himself for the extended battle. While there was still another assassin to worry about, that man in question was lying on the ground unable to move. As such, Garret focused a majority of his attention on the one before him. I'll get these two, alive, and get my answers from them. It's obvious they are from a group. If they don't know who hired them, I should be able to get the name of the group they are with and find out from there.

Swaying slightly, Garret performed River Styx Style: Raging Current and sent a punch towards the man's chest. The strike would have been a hefty one had it landed, yet Garret's right arm was caught in the man's Hidden Jutte. As Garret attempted to follow up with the second part of the technique, a knee which he had aimed towards his opponent's groin, the movement from the Jutte collided and intercepted Garret's knee blow. As his left leg sat back down, the Bladed Assassin sent out another set of attacks; Balanced Blade. The first strike came towards his head, and Garret attempted to duck under it. Unfortunately he was not nearly fast enough to do so, and Garret's Borg flared up once again as it took the brunt of the horizontal slash from his left. The second strike came from a return horizontal strike, which Garret was much more ready for. He solidified his footing and raised his right arm at an angle, intercepting the Bladed Assassin's second blow with River Styx Style: Fish Swims Upstream. Garret's right hand moved and collided with the assassin's. As it continued to move, it guided the assassin's hand upward and at an angle, which managed to clear Garret's body. With the remaining force of the block, and the continual moving motion of the clash, Garret's arm continued to slide straight forward until his hand was at his opponent's neck.

Garret's hand turned into a closed fist as he grabbed the Bladed Assassin's collar. Stepping in, Garret's feet changed places and he grabbed the man's arm as well before squatting down and twisting his upper body. As he twisted his upper body, Garret rose from the squatting position and added torque to his technique, throwing the opponent into the wall behind him. He had performed the Nage Waza. The sound of bones cracking filled the air, and Garret knew the man hadn't taken the strike very well. As the man began to fall to the ground, Garret released his hold and switched it up, attacking with a Shime Waza. The tight grasp of his hand against the man's carotid arteries and jugular veins was doing quick work in forcing the man to pass out. Just a little bit more effort, and Garret would have the first of two men he could ask information from.

Garret continued to use his Shime Waza, working on exhausting the supply of air to the assassin's brain and forcing him to pass out. The technique was certainly effective, and the Magician believed that he was extremely close to success. Yet halfway through the technique, however, the man seemed to be foaming at the mouth. Frowning, Garret wondered what, exactly, was causing that. Poison? Shit. Immediately releasing the first Assassin, Garret stood and looked to the other who was trying to crawl away and out the door. He had managed to tie up his legs and stop the bleeding. Garret ran towards him, intending to knock him out...

It was apparent that the assassin heard him approach, as the movements seemed to get more hurried and rushed. Unfortunately, one could only crawl so fast, and it took next to no time for Garret to get to the man and raise his leg up. It was Garret's intention to knock the man out before he had a chance to bite down on the poisonous molar that would kill him. Raising his leg up high, Garret sent the heel of his foot down with the River Styx Style: Deep Sea Plunge. The assassin stopped moving just moments before the attack landed, and Garret silently cursed when his foot slammed against the man's back. Another audible crunch was heard, and he knew that his attack had broken bones when it had landed upon his opponent. Kneeling down beside the last of the two Bladed Assassins, Garret turned the man over to check for signs of vitality.

It was soon apparent to the operative that this assassin had killed himself as well, once again a poisonous pill was the cause of it. Sitting down on the ground, Garret looked at the dead bodies and thought for a while. The next time he defeated an opponent, he would have to do so by capturing them and keeping them from killing themselves before he could gather information. Their level of dedication and secrecy was praiseworthy, he had to admit, but it was getting in the way of him finding out the truth of the matter. For a brief moment, Garret considered simply using his strongest ice prison spell in order to capture his opponents, but decided against that; the collateral damage it would cause to the Inn would not only cause the citizens to get upset, but it would also cost him a decent amount of money. The funds he had obtained were for specific things, and he had not the ability to add onto those things.
