((This event is purely a social event, meaning no prizes or surprise enemies. If a fight happens to break out among the players, guards will be on hand to break it up.))

The coronation itself was a closed event with only the highest influencing diplomats allowed entrance to see the crowning of the new “King” of Reim. The entire affair was filled with reminders of what he really was, a proxy of the Kou Empire. Everything from the decorations to the attire the new King was instructed to wear were of the Eastern influence. The hall was decorated in Kou Empire colors and dragons while the most prestigious of Kou officials were present to smile kindly on the newest addition to their royal family. The utmost respect was paid to the new ruler of Reim by the visiting dignitaries, Balbadd diplomats offering smiles and nods, Heliohapt diplomats offering only a suspicious, examining look and nod. Asisiak from Imuchakk offered a grunt and Magnostadt diplomats were only slightly less icy, not fans of either Kou or Reim. After the long, tedious ceremony, King El Nagi was allowed to change for the ball, with heavy encouragement to wear Kou-related clothing,  before being escorted to the ball room in the Palace of Kings.

This, too, had been transformed to carry a blunt but extravagant display of Kou influence. Around the steps leading down to King El Nagi’s throne, all of the guests that had been able to afford it had gathered in a semi-circle, eager to hear the words of the new King of Reim. There had been whispers that he would be officially declaring his promises before not just Reim citizens but also the other diplomats present. The room was still filling up as King El Nagi would be heavily guarded as he was led to the Throne and began hushing those present so that Lagi could speak. Every eye in the massive room was turned to Lagi, awaited with baited breaths to hear what he had to say.

((The first post will go to Lagi. After this, those with IC reasons to be in the ball room itself may post their entrance, including going through the security checkpoints. Absolutely no weapons or pets of any kind will be allowed by the guards. After initial entrance posts are made, there will be no particular posting order. This does not count against your thread count and you may leave at any time, though you would not be allowed re-entrance.))

Lagi was a bit nervous; it did take a lot of strain on him to be the focal point of such an important party. All of the diplomats will be there; it was up to Lagi to make an important impression among such people. “…..” Lagi decided to compromise and wear Kou related clothing, it was the best thing to do at a time like this. Nevertheless, these clothes didn’t define him as a mortal. What mattered to him were the actions that he hired as a leader, the compassion he demonstrated for his people, and the strength of his word. As long as Lagi was able to follow through with his promises, that was plenty for him. Lagi was sharply dressed in a black Kou attire as he walked down the aisle towards his chair, there were guards surrounding him until the end. He delivered a calm expression on his face; there was a good deal that he had to get through.

As soon as Lagi made his way to the steps and sat on his chair, Lagi started to dress the public.  He spoke clearly and eloquently. “Good Evening, I would first like to thank you all for attending today’s coronation. My name is Lagi El Nagi, I am officially known as the King of Reim. However, such achievements could not be reached without the helping hand of the Kou Empire, in which I learned whose interests coincide fully with progression, compassion, and equality. When I became king, I brought it upon myself to make a series of promises that I would like to share with you. The first, Reim will always keep their individuality as a nation, and their citizens as their occupants. This was targeted more towards our culture, customs, and currency. Such thoughts like removing the coliseum and other things that have been a part of Reim for generations was something that I could not dismiss. Yet, I also recognized that we are a part of Kou, and that it is necessary to take out the walls of discrimination between us. Such words were read to me by Iulius Valentinus, who I thank for his wisdom.”

Lagi  got a modest break before he went on. “The second, a level of Democracy will always exist within Reim, I will lend an ear to the articulation of the masses. This was carried out diligently; I allowed audiences and listened well to the postulation of the people. Not to state that my rule will survive off of charitable uses, or for this action to be taken based off of popularity. A movement that is proper and just deserves a hearing, the agony and cries of the people deserve attention. As King, I will answer what I can, and I will do what I must. The third, after years of service to the military sections of the Reim Empire, that soul will pick up a pension and maintain health benefits as reconciliation for the dangerous work they do for the country upon retiring. To the fearless soldiers, your king has not forgotten you, and your service will always be thought of. I personally moved to assume charge of the remaining brotherhood of ash that kidnapped a few veteran officials of Reim. I am a king that will fight to protect my countrymen. The fourth, this is nowadays a country of opportunity.”

This was actually shifting over to the first provincial council. “Just recently two ideas were to be initiated involving education and a workforce program. The children of Reim are the future; their potential should not be rejected in the slums, but rather cultivated as they achieve their fullest height. The workforce program takes willingly unemployed and unskilled people and supplies training for them. The acknowledgment is not mine, such detailed policies and the foreseer of these things is in fact the product of Azix Niraj, who I make special thanks to.  These programs give our people hope, and I fully support this. Only for such hope to exist, old polices will have to be abolished. Old policies like slavery, which is no more in Reim. To enslave others, to have them processed within their mind to have such a destiny of being in the service of madmen, to be regarded as something lower than man. No, they deserve a chance.  I even set the tax rate to scale more on the societal stratum of each mortal,  which ascertains that there is less strain on the people and affordable. “ It was about time for Lagi’s closing statement. “ I know that I am young, some people doubt me. Some people doubt my loyalty, or my intentions. Yet, as the days pass by, I continue to cast myself into the leader that you demand. To become the beacon of hope that exercises the doubts that you all might harvest within your hearts. I clap you, nation of Kou, for choosing to coexist and form unitedly. I entreat you, representatives of neighboring countries, my friends, to take a gander of a fresh epoch. Is this the face of a surrendered country? Is this the face of a fallen kingdom? The old times of where the fallen was looked as the degraded  cesspool of its former glory, what has become of us instantly? Reim has risen, Reim is still here…. Along with Kou the world’s foremost world power.  Not to depart as a threat of what’s resulted when a nation consumes one another, merely as an instance of what happen when two countries are intertwined. What we accomplished together…… was peace.”

This was the end of Lagi’s speech; he spoke with compassion and conviction. This was not planned, or prewritten, he spoke from the bottom of his heart. “Once again, I thank you for coming. Please, mingle and enjoy the festivities. Hopefully this foreshadows  the future relationships that we can have with each other, as we all strive towards a safer world.”

Ayero

Ayero
Ω-Tier
Ω-Tier
Taking careful steps in the high-heeled shoes Ariella had lent her, Ayero looks around the holding area the guests for the ball had been corralled in with great curiosity. While they weren’t able to view the coronation itself, they’d be mingling with royalty and persons of high status shortly. This had put the Fanalis a bit on edge, never having been to such a high class event in her life. She was grateful for the presence of her sponsor and companion for the evening, Ariella. Subconsciously moving a bit closer to the young magician, she bites her lower lip and smoothes out the material of her dress for the umpteenth time. Ari had done pretty much everything for her up to this point in regards to preparing for the celebration, not limited to lending her own clothes and jewels for the halfling to wear; she’d also taught her basic etiquette and a few dance steps after Ayero had expressed concern for not fitting in.

”This certainly is a well-dressed bunch…” She whispers to Ari, wondering how the Balbadd diplomat’s wife was able to wear so much gold and still hold herself up with stiff posture. As the coronation ends and the celebration begins, Ayero lets Ari handle their business at the checkpoint. They’d left their respective weapons as well as pets together in Ari’s room at the inn, figuring that at least Nilexa would enjoy the company. Ayero knew that despite being overwhelmed, Kabu was happy to have another snake friend around.

Making their way into the ball room, Ayero’s eyes are glued to the ceiling. She’d never see a room so high before, and decorated so richly. A bit uncomfortable with all of the opulence surrounding her, she intertwines her hand with Ari’s for comfort. Once everyone had entered, the dull murmur of the crowd dies into a hush rather quickly as King Lagi appears. Surprised to see that he was so young, Ayero focuses on the dark haired young man with eager ears.

His speech stirred mixed feelings in the Fanalis. While she felt as if he was being sincere in his belief that he wanted what was best for their country, she had some doubts about several points her had made. The retention of Reim’s individuality seemed like a grand dream with Kou breathing down their neck, and the comment of the invaders targeting Reim’s “culture and customs” sparked a bit of anger inside her. Reim had been a proud nation for thousands of years, its culture and customs would not bend easily or peacefully to the will of an invading country. She had to admit that the abolition of slavery was heartening to hear, and the new revamps to the education system seemed a bit idealistic. She was surprised to her Azix’s name mentioned, and made a mental note to ask him about it if she saw him tonight.

As El Nagi’s speech ended and the mingling began, Ayero turned to her companion. ”So…what do you think of the new King?”

Ari allowed the weapons check with a roll of her eyes at Ayero, unworried after having left her wand at the inn for Nilexa and Kabu to guard. She felt almost naked without it, but such functions did not allow a mage access to such dangerous tools of their craft. She doubted the guards had thought to check the numerous canes and fans many of the diplomats carried, as most from Magnostadt would never be caught without the tool that made them who they were.

As she was being search, she snorted at diplomat’s wife covered in golden jewelry. Everyone was out in their best attire, it seemed. She had went for much simpler accessories, allowing her natural beauty to shine through. Once inside, she gave a cursory glance around the opulent surrounds, barely repressing the urge to roll her eyes. The style was different than she was used to, but it was still the norm for a massive event such as this. She idly thought about how much of the slums could have been renovated with the money spent on the coronation and ball. Listening to the King’s speech with careful ears, she was proud to hear Azix’s name mentioned in such glowing regards.

At Ayero’s question, she would give a small shrug and a smile.

“We will see if he is a man of his word, I suppose. I believe more in action than words, myself.”

As a serving man walked by with a platter full of wine glasses, she would casually snatch two off for herself and her companion, squeezing Ayero’s hand and holding out the wine glasses with her other. Many other diplomats were following suit, with an over-dressed noble from Heliohapt raising their glass and shouting out ‘Hail King Lagi!’ that was echoed amongst the entire room. She blithely echoed the words, not meaning them in the slightest, but keeping up appearances. As soon as the words were out of her mouth, she drained the glass in two quick drinks. The best part of these events were usually the food, the drink and the dancing and she intended to have her fair share of the drink, at least.

She pointed to one of the Magnostadt diplomats, who was making moon eyes at one of Kou diplomat’s daughter, nudging Ayero with a snort.

“Someone is trying to get my country invaded again, by the looks of it.”

The words were barely out of her mouth before she heard a voice that made her eyes widen and her hand grab for another glass of wine.

“Ella, darling, Adius did not tell us you would be attending alone! Come, you must meet Chirelle’s son. He is a rising star in the Academy!”

Her mother’s voice was warmer than most would imagine, but she knew the ice that could lay beneath the maternal façade. Her mother bustled over, her father following more sedately, in no rush to greet the daughter he had not seen in many months. Ari drained her second glass of wine before pasting a fake smile on her face and turning to look at her mother, squeezing Ayero’s hand reflexively to keep her temper in check. Her teeth were grinding as she ‘politely’ introduced her companion.

“Mother, wonderful to see you. And I am not alone. This is Ayero, my friend. Ayero, this is my mother Evelyn, a life magician!”

She ignored the immediate look of disgust in her mother’s eyes and simply hoped Ayero would not catch the distasteful glare from Evelyn. If her parents had found her this quickly, she was going to need more to drink… much more.

"Wonder if Jahangir will mind if I get here first. He is the boss after all...hmmm, maybe I should even enter WITH him? Nah! I'll just go ahead. Though should I bring my fan in case Lagi doesn't recognize me? Yeah, I will. I'll hide it in these pretty flowers that I'll give to Lagi as a gift. Or are flowers too much of a sign of love? Nah! Anyway..."

It was a glorious evening for Zadi Medmar as he walked into the ball dressed in all white while even holding a rather large bouquet arraigned with several different white flowers. With a bright smile on his face, Zadi was- stopped by the guards.

"Hey you! Come over here. You with the white flowers!"

"Ummm...ok? What's wrong gentlemen? Do I have some lunch in my teeth?"

"Ha, very funny little man. Let me see those flowers."

"Why!? Do you think I'm hiding something in there!? How rude! These are a gift for the new King that I happen to be friends with! If you don't let me pass this instant, I'll let the King know!"

"Ha, like I would believe you-"

"Do you wanna take that chance! Do ya...punk..."

"Yes I do, now let's see what's in that bouquet!"

"Fine. A fan, happy now?"

"I gotta see if it is sharp, hand it over!"

"Ugh..."

"Alright, looks good to me. Just have to do a pat down now...alright, good again. Sorry of the trouble, now move along!"

Zadi's bluff didn't worked! Though technically it wasn't a bluff, though it did have the air and signs of a bluff. Zadi was suspect, he made a rather vague connection between the most honored of persons here, and even threatened the interrogator. Thankfully the guard didn't see the star on the golden fan when checking for its sharpness. Could have been rather troubling for Zadi. However, Zadi was the friend of Lagi El Nagi, the new King of Reim! That much could have helped. Zadi loved the thought of being even slightly connected to someone with such grand influence! However, Lagi's speech seemed puzzling.

Lagi's speech made Zadi question Lagi's personality. He didn't seem as chipper since last they were together in Vassago. Unfortunately, Zadi would have to probably find out the hard way whether he was correct about Lagi's new personality change. He was now a King after all so perhaps the stress and even the events leading to his coronation changed Lagi somehow. Not to mention Zygus was nowhere to be seen. At this point, that large bird would probably be even bigger now.

After taking his time walking, turning down drinks, and even thinking of a great way to introduce himself to the new King as an "old buddy", Zadi finally made it to about 10 meters from Lagi's current position. Zadi made sure to check his person for any signs of blemishes and other such nonsense so as to not look stupid and dirty in front of Lagi's posy and got out his golden fan, making sure that the star was facing Lagi.

"Alright, time to see if Lagi recognizes me..."

Zadi approached at a casual speed, flapping his fan in his face with the bouquet in the left hand. Now only 5 meters away and;

"Yo dungeon buddy! What's up!" said Zadi with open arms~

Adorned in a freshly made pair of his elegant blue robes, Yakuroro strode towards the guard checkpoint with his "date" for the evening close at his side. The Kou ambassador and court magician, Lady Soushui, was clinging to his arm like a happy school girl headed to prom, her generous bosom pressing against the blue haired giant's forearm making her cleavage stress against her low cut dress. As they arrived, a pair of soldiers clad in Kou armor approached them and asked for their invitation or their entrance fee. "I am the invitation dear. Lady Soushui, here on behalf of Kou's Imperial Emperor to witness the coronation of Lagi El Nagi. This is my dear friend and guest, Yakuroro of Imuchakk." The two men seemed weary of the pair but upon checking their list they would find that the woman's name was indeed among the list of official diplomats set to be present.

Yakuroro and Lady Soushui were both frisked with modest professionalism in a manner that made it impossible for them to have hidden any conventional weapons on them. thankfully for the two, the only thing's they'd brought with them which could be considered weapons were anything but conventional. Lady Soushui's wand was simple enough, hidden between her large breasts, it would go untaken lest a guard wanted to be slapped and court martial-ed for violating a woman of Kou nobility. Yakuroro's metal vessel was turned so its face was on his palm side so when the frisking reached his hand it would look like just another ring. It was questionable whether or not the elite guard even knew what to look for from a metal vessel, but Yakuroro decided against taking changes since many more dungeons had been conquered over the last year.

Once they were admitted, the two entered the coronation ceremony just in time for Lagi's speech to begin and together they listened, each forming their own opinions. Yakuroro wouldn't dare to ask Soushui what she really though in such a public place and strained to continue a forced smile hating the fact that he had to rely on her political clout. Surely she'd be asking him for some kind of unreasonable favor in return some day.

The event moved to the ball room and crowds would begin to mingle as Soushui pulled Yakuroro's head in close to whisper, "I'm going to go talk to this new King. Try not to cause trouble. I brought you here so you could watch and gather intel. Not so you could pull one of your schemes." The Imuchakk growled through a toothy grin, "Scheming? Who's scheming other than you?" Lady Soushui huffed in an amused response and shrugged her shoulders before parting with him and approaching King Lagi.

The Kou woman strode through the crowd with purpose and presented herself before Lagi in a deep bow, pressing her cleavage together so as not to accidentally the wand hiddin within. It was there less for action and more to deal with anyone else trying to cause any funny business. Tonight was a night for dancing and words.

"I see that when my contacts told me the new King of Reim was both handsome and strong of spirit, I should have not doubted them. Your speech was most...rousing, your grace. Forgive me for not introducing myself right away."

The raven black hair framed the woman's face as she looked up through fluttering eyelids with a picture perfect smile. "My name is Lady Soushui, an ambassador from Kou. May I have a moment of your time?"

Meanwhile, Yakuroro was standing just a few meters away listening carefully as his eyes watched Lady Soushui begin talking to Lagi. A disturbance in the rukh caught the magician's attention. They seemed...excited. Yakuroro turned just in time to see Zadi open his fan and call out for his "dungeon buddy" which very well could have been Yakuroro himself. Drawn in by the misunderstanding, Yakuroro moved in front of Zadi, his large Imuchakk frame blocking the black magician from Lagi's view before he could be seen. "It's been too long Zadi. I'm surprised you recognized me, I hardly recognize you." A friendly tone escaped the blue magician's lips as he eyed the magic circle on the fan, "I see you managed to conquer your own dungeon." The Imuchakk grabbed a couple of wine glasses off a nearby waiter's platter with a single large hand and offered one to Zadi. "Tell me of the story!" Yakuroro would not take no for an answer or let Zadi walk away until he had a few questions answered...

Jahangir entered the ball in the usual way (That awkward frisking included), however he wasnt able to find Zadi and he had completely forgotten to give him his invitation. Oh well, maybe his name was on a list or something, even if not Jahan would find a way to get Zadi in the Ball. Furthermore he doubted Zadi wasnt able to get in by himself. Whatever the case may be he handed the guards his invitation and it was like he was instant royalty.

His status had climbed tremendously, a hand written invitation from the king himself put him somewhere beneath one of the foreign diplomats whom were invited, that is instead of being just any regular wealthy citizen. He doubted he would have many problems tonight just because of that.  Jahangir entered the ballroom and it was enormous and grandoir. It was outstanding and gave a feeling of importance and elegance, beauty & power. Almost as much as Jahangir gave himself.

Jahangir was magnificent, his charm and swagger were emanating from his body. He was dressed in fine designer clothes, fabrics of the highest quality. The design was expensive upon looking, yet mysterious and minimalist-ic. Contrasting the black tone of his clothes was a thin amount of gold jewelry, it was humbling in a crowd filled with diplomats flanked in jewelry. Yet still Tasteful and exotic. Oh and God he smelled of something divine. He was a extravagant flame in a room flooded with moths, his smile was like a home. Yet his lavender eyes were the city lights and his clothing was beautiful but his demeanor was blithe.

And He bloody knew it.

Jahan was wild, charming, nubile and princely Guild Master. To boot he could do all of these things without trying. He could easily  bed most of the air-headed rich girls in the ball, but this wasn't for him to get laid. This was bigger than him he was the physical representation of Badass. He was a symbol for another type of beast, a metaphorical monster . Striking fear and awe into anyone who came across him. He was Typhon.

So now he sat on a table his legs sitting in a chair and head propped lazily on his hand. He was being particularly low key, he would simply observe and have a few drinks before going to mingle. He had listened to the Lagi's speech, yet only in order to discuss it. What he really wanted was connections, and he would establish today that Typhon was the strongest Guild.

Altair dressed himself in his new clothes, impressed with the workmanship of his tailor. His black coat and trousers with the red trim gave exactly the impression he wanted: Strong, yet Sophisticated. He smirked to himself. "Not bad for a shepherd boy." He thought. Truth be told, if it wasn't for conquering that dungeon, he never would have had enough money to pay for any of this. Altair left his Staff and Sword at home. It was likely they would be searching him anyways, and he didn't want to have either one compromised. He did however keep his chain, and he tied it to his vest as an accent.

Altair approached the entrance to the ball, and presented the money. The guard gave him a strange look, and motioned for two others. These two men proceeded to search him very professionally, while the third counted the money. It seemed to Altair that he was the first to get in without a proper ticket.

After the (unnecessarily thorough) search, he was finally allowed into the grand hall. King Lagi's speech was indeed interesting. But the part that Altair found most impressive was the liberation of the slaves. Could he really do it? there would surely be backlash for this decision. But Altair had to hand it to the man. He was brave. His other promises to the crowd were also impressive. a reform on both veteran care and schooling for children, and a workforce program that could potentially bring the unemployment rate to near zero. Honestly, it all seemed to good to be true. It was idealistic at best, but Altair could offer his own support. Even if the king didn't know it was him.

After the speech ended, people began to chat, eat, and even a few started to dance. While Altair wanted to chat with the new king, he knew that his status was nowhere near high enough to warrant such a meeting. Instead, Altair decided to enjoy himself. At least for a little bit. He looked around the room, and his eyes laid upon a girl with the red hair of a Fanalis, who looked to be a little out of her element. He smiled warmly, and approached her. He bowed and said, "My lady, you are looking beautiful tonight, but perhaps overwhelmed. May i offer you a dance to soothe your nerves?"

Azix arrived at the coronation ceremony by himself, nervous about the night. At first he had been excited, but after receiving a letter from his Uncle, Azix was now worried. Their relationship was strained, while his uncle, Illidan Niraj, had raised Azix, the man did not approve of him. Koto and Azix's father had been on bad terms even before Talix Niraj, Azix's father, decided to rebel. Illidan had protected Azix for reasons of blood than love.

Shrugging it off, Azix instead entered the ballroom after being checked by the guards for any weapons. Dressed in Kou fashion worthy of his station as Marquis, Azix scanned the crowds looking for familiar faces. Thankfully, he did not see his uncle, but he did spot Ariella in a gorgeous dress, standing next to a familiar Fanalis woman. Lagi's voice rang out and Azix turned to listen to the King's speech.

From the first time Lagi had set on the throne, Azix began to question his decision on that fateful night. Tonight, those fears were erased, instead of acting out and reaching for complete sovereignty, like Lagi had done at the Summit, the newly crowned King instead complimented Kou and beseeched all to appreciate their peaceful relations. At the end of the eloquent speech, Azix decided to give his congratulations to the El Nagi.

When a moment presented itself, Azix squeezed himself to the front of the line to meet Lagi. With a respectful bow, Azix approached the King. "Congratulations, that was a beautiful speech." Lowering his voice so only Lagi could hear, "I had my doubts about you, but I think you will make a great King, your grace. Do you know if the El Nagi clan appreciated my gifts?" Azix was referring to the three beasts he had captured on a job with Ayero, hoping they would be of use to Roark or the El Nagi clan. Remembering Ayero, Azix connected the face he had seen earlier with Ari.

Once they had exchanged words, Azix gave another bow before departing in search of Ariella. Spotting her holding hands with Ayero, Azix approached with a smile, surveying those around the two. "Good evening, this is a wonderful party, is it not?" Azix asked when he got up close. Ariella had just finished referring to the older woman as her mother. "Pardon me, I didn't mean to interrupt."

Having upheld his part of the deal, Liber managed to secure half of the funds required to enter the ball and graciously accepted help from a certain rich young woman to cover the rest of the entry fee. The assassin left the tools of his trade behind in his inn room so as not to cause any trouble before heading out to the coronation ceremony. He was dressed casually with his light cloths hanging loose on his toned body. Approaching the guards with a lone exposed nipple, Liber handed over the money and allowed himself to be searched for weapons. Having none on his person, Liber would be waved through and waited for the ceremony to begin.

The King's speech made a slight anger smoulder in the fanalis man's heart. Reim would retain it's individuality? Then why was the entire event wrapped in Kou trappings? Even the entrance fee was held in their currency. This King struck Liber as a liar, an unjust power grabbing fool who likely thought his own delusions to be true. King Lagi would have his day of just desserts, but it was not today. Liber held back his aggressions and silently blended in with the crowds as best as his clearly Reim attire and bright red hair would allow. When the speech was done and everyone moved to the ball room, Liber had time to scan the crowds for familiar faces and saw several. The woman who healed his wounds was approaching King Lagi, the large Imuchakk Yakuroro, was speaking to a stranger. Liber didn't spot Diego or Ayero yet and wondered if the two would be showing up as well.

That is when he spotted her, hand in hand with his patron whom funded Liber's entrance to the event. They both seemed a bit uncomfortable and out of place as an unknown man. The fanalis male watched carefully to see how they handled the bowing human's gesture as he neared closer to King Lagi, eager to hear the conversations taking place nearby without looking too conspicuous.

Garret had arrived in the city just hours prior, exhausted from his hard travels to make it to the Coronation ceremony. Before he went directly to the ceremony, he made sure to clean off the sweat and grime from the hard travel at one of the local inns, unpacking the Kou clothing he had picked out for this occasion. The silks were a shade or two more expensive than the ones he had worn a week or two back, back when he had been attacked by a bunch of citizens. Next, he took out the invitation he had received through the communications channels for providing two security operatives. Carmen should be arriving shortly...

The advantage of Carmen arriving would be that she was from Reim and, thusly, she could fit in better. She would only be there for the Ball. Garret left the invitation hidden in the dresser, sealing it in a false bottom that was prepared ahead of time. She would retrieve the invitation and arrive to the Ball in order to have additional security in the location.

Today, he was making his first political appearance under his true name, Takegawa Iatsu. It wasn't particularly likely that his name and past were particularly well known throughout Kou channels, however those that did pay attention to new nobility would know that he had 'bought' his way into it from common birth, just as Takahashi Sato had set up some month or two ago. While his status was fairly high within the nobility, he was still the newest member of it. He held reserved feelings in regards to how he would be viewed. Feelings that bordered on the line of disquieted apprehension.

Normally, this would not have effected Garret. The man had experience pretending to be a noble, and had plenty of training in etiquette from Takahashi Sato. The true source of his discomfort was the very man that had taught him what he knew. Garret had been throwing himself into work, and hadn't had much time to consider what the man had told him. Hadn't allowed himself the time to consider it. Garret grunted. Focus. This is work. No time for that. He shook his head and made his way to the Coronation Ceremony.

-------

When Garret had arrived, he was asked to present his invitation by the guards who would frisk him and make sure he was without weapons. Garret's long, baggy sleeves somewhat hid his hands from immediate view. The clothing itself was a mixture of light and dark colors, with a yin/yang symbol upon the shoulders. Concealed within the folds of his sleeves was his wand, and lying still in a pocket was his fan. Garret produced the 'special' invitation. The guard read it briefly, looked back at Garret, and then re-read the invitation.

"Everything checks out. I'll check him for weapons." The guard began patting Garret down. He felt the wand sitting within Garret's right shoe; a set of shoes that rose just below the knees, and simply ignored it. After finishing the false 'check up' on Garret, the guard nodded to him. "All's clear."

Upon his entrance, Garret watched the events unfold and kept an eye out for any untoward movements. While doing so, he listened to what was being spoken about the area. King Lagi El Nagi had just finished his speech, which had impressed Garret. He had reservations and moderate regrets after Lagi's first words said upon being given the throne, but it seemed that the weight of time and the burden of a country had progressed the man to be much wiser than before. Or perhaps his prior actions were simply a ruse to make him look less dangerous than he could potentially be? Garret was new to the political waters, but he was not new to battlegrounds. Information was everything.

He continued to move about the room, hiding his face with his Royal Dragon Fan. It wasn't long, however, that a Noble from Kou approached him. She had recognized the fan as a symbol of Nobility from their country, but had not recognized him. When she approached, she began making small talk, probing Garret's background in an attempt to discern the difference in their stations.

The two spoke briefly before her curiosity was satisfied. She begged her leave as she was 'quite fatigued' before walking away and speaking with several others whom Garret could only guess were her friends. An occasional giggle and glance towards him occurred, but Garret paid it little mind.

His primary purpose here was to be security detail, however his most recent knowledge had him here for a second purpose as well; Magnostadt. He would have to discretely feel out what their intentions were. As he thought that, he began walking around while also keeping an eye out for those who seemed to be from Magnostadt. As he roamed, he overheard the word 'academy' being spoken, and began homing in to that direction.

When he arrived, there were two sights that surprised him. Ariella, the vagrant 'odd jobs' member of the 'Stargazer's Club' he had inadvertently become a part of. Just as he had approached, Ariella had finished saying '..this is my mother Evelyn, a life magician!'

Just as he had approached from Ariella's side, the second sight that surprised him was Altair, who approached from the opposite side and spoke to the woman who was with Ariella. Altair... The man he had met and assisted in instructing him in the more advanced uses of the Rukh and Magoi. The man who had told him that he had 'picked up' his weapon from that battlefield. Garret held no ill will towards the man who had lied to him; everyone had secrets they wanted to keep, and the secret he had was quite a large one. More importantly, he was certain that this individual with Ariella was from Magnostadt... Which made sense, considering how she spoke of the place when they had first met. He recalled that Ariella held no love for that country.

He attempted to observe the situation between the woman, and the one who she introduced as her 'Mother', before stepping into the conversation. "Ah, it has been some time, Ariella. You may not recall my name easily. Takegawa Sato, a noble from Kou." Garret crinkled his eyes and uplifted his lips in a smile meant to disarm. If she recalled properly, in both prior times she met him he was known as 'Garret'. Whether or not she connected him to Azix, who also used a fake name at times, was something Garret had no notion or thought of.

He brought his Royal Dragon Fan up, flashing the magical symbol on it, and briefly hiding the lower half of his face. Knowing her stance on her country, and believing this woman was her mother, Garret spoke once more. "When we met, I asked you about Magnostadt. I recall you explaining what a beautiful place it is, but I do believe you said there were those who were better at explaining it than yourself? As a Magician, I cannot help but be interested in the place." He turned to her mother, and bowed. "Is my belief correct in the assumption that you are a prominent Magician in Magnostadt that could tell me of its wonders?"

While Ariella wouldn't quite know what Garret was going for, if she played along and her mother took the bait she might have a small window of opportunity to slip away. Garret moved his fan back up to his face, fanning it. For a brief moment, it covered his facial features from Ariella's mother, and slightly turned his head towards Ariella as he winked at the woman in a conspiratorial manner before bringing the fan lower again. Whether or not either of them wanted to play along, however, was another story entirely... He could only hope that the political tension of refusing his request was enough to maneuver the mother into speaking to him.

Tahl stepped up to the gates of the palace, looking up at the large walls. He allowed a whistle of amazement to escape him, completely ignoring that he was blocking others from entering. He could hear a bit of the king's speech from where he was, but paid it no attention. His main focus was on the wonder that made up the building. It took a clearing of someone's throat to throw his attention back to the line; turning his head to quickly apologise to those that were behind him. He adjusted fixed his clothes as best as he could; not use to wearing the formal-styled clothing he purchased from a shop hours before.

Stepping up to the guards, he placed the Huang into his hand and offered him a smile before stepping through. The guard quickly placed a hand on the male's shoulder and gave a smirk.
"Come on. I have to search you,"He said in a demanding tone. Blinking, Tahl stood aside and extended his arms, feeling himself being patted down. The guard stopped just at the waistband of his shirt and pulled Bloody Branch from it. Looking up at the halfling, he raised a brow as if he was waiting for an answer.

"My apologies,"He gave a nervous chuckle,"It seems that I forgot to leave it while preparing myself. A simple precaution is all." The guard let out a light annoyed growl and handed it to another guard who took it to another room. The guard waved his hand and Tahl happily stepped inside, wondering what the inside of the wonderful place must look like.

He looked up at the wide ceiling in amazement, hanging his mouth agape. He spun around slowly and stared at the luxurious artwork that coated the ceiling. He barely managed to pull his eyes away as he bumped into a hostess; catching her plate to save face. He smiled and placed it back into her hands. Stepping through the heavy crowd, he managed to spot out Ariella along with another male and what he assumed to be a Fanalis woman accompanying her. He also spotted Liber not too far from them. Smiling to himself, he raised his arm as he approached his new friend.
"Hey Liber,"He let out,"Good to see that you made it."

The little girl was in her finest attire, blending in with the nobles and diplomats for the evening. Her pretty pink hair had been perfectly coifed and she hummed as she strolled between those attending without anyone saying so much as a word. She got the occasional endearing glance as people found her adorable and patted her head. She gave a childish grin full of wonder and bewilderment to better blend in and began taking mental notes on everyone there that seemed to be important.

Since there is no posting order and I want to get back into the swing of things...

And in came Yakuroro the Imuchakk! He blocked Zadi's path as if he was a personal guard of Lagi's but just ended up being friendly. Zadi did need to stop judging intent based on size. Especially with people bigger than himself. Anyway, Zadi was greeted by the seemingly clueless Yakuroro who, as chance would have it, was also a "dungeon buddy" of Zadi's. Rather funny how that worked out. In fact, "dungeon buddy" could be used for three different people!

All the same, Yakuroro's surprise body-block and friendly greeting startled Zadi to where he almost activated his Djinn Equip, however, he flipped the fan closed once he pulled himself together. The fan was then tucked back inside the bouquet in case Zadi would be startled again.

"H-hey there...umm, Yaku! Yeah, dungeon buddy. Totally saw you before you saw me, haha...he. So yeah, I also got myself a dungeon capture under my belt."

Zadi was hesitant to tell the whole truth about his adventures in not just one dungeon after helping Yaku, but rather two dungeons. However, Zadi did feel very happy to see Yaku again, so he let his story telling get the better of him, much like when he met Lagi;

"Well, truth be told, I not only one dungeon after our separation...I captured two. However, before you go padding me down for another Djinn, I was only in the second dungeon for research purposes. Well...I was also denied another Djinn by the Djinn itself. It seemed rather huffy about me already having a Djinn. Oh! One more thing you need to know about...I was calling out 'dungeon buddy' towards the King...hehehe, yeah. I saw him before I saw you, so no hard feelings?"

Zadi had much more to tell, but for now, he would let Yaku say a few things. Zadi didn't like to ramble about himself all that much, though in all honesty, Zadi loved story telling. Kind of a paradoxical in a sense. Also, now that Zadi was talking about "truth telling" he just remembered that he was never checked for an invitation. Seems that white bouquet incident did more than make a suspicious person out of Zadi.

Zadi's initial awkwardness confused Yakuroro and stoked the Imuchakk's suspicions that something wasn't quite right. Then again, Zadi had always been a bit strange. Yakuroro still remembered how the Black Magician hit the Imuchakk behind with a spell in Marax when he got spooked by unseen enemies that for all Yaku knew had never existed in the first place. Yakuroro sipped at his wine idly feeling less than satisfied with the brevity. He wanted to know all the juicy details having only ever been in a single dungeon himself. Thankfully at least some useful information seemed to come from the short explanation. "So Djinn do not smile upon having a master already possessing one's power?...Interesting..." Then came Zadi's reveal that he had been making that friendly gesture to the newly named King of Reim. Yakuroro raised and eye brow and looked back to Lagi in a glance before turning back to Zadi.

For perhaps the first time since they'd known each other, Yakuroro showed his true face to the magician. There was no mask of jovial friendliness. Only the firm resolved gaze of a King Vessel. "Zadi...You-" Yakuroro took pause and held his tongue as he realized he didn't have much evidence against Lagi at the moment. But from the sound of things he too had been in a dungeon and now possessed the power of a Djinn. Perhaps the rumors of him being a "black demon" had some ground to stand on after all. Either way, it would be a disaster if two Djinn wielder's stood on Kou's side in the conflicts to come. Staring Zadi straight into the eyes, Yakuroro placed a hand on his shoulder and gave words of caution. "...Be careful around King Lagi. He is likely not what he appears to be."

With the words of warning given, Yaku stepped aside no longer blocking the path to Lagi. If Zadi wanted to walk past him then he was more than able. "Sorry to have gotten in your way. But don't think you've satisfied my curiosity. I'd like to drink with you and hear all about your dungeon adventures. I've got a few stories of my own to share about the ancient Torran Civilization." The Imuchakk teased new knowledge about lost civilizations over the magician hoping that he'd definitely want to talk more to learn about such a rare and foreign subject.

Lagi didn’t know what to expect from the ambassador of Kou to approach him. He wondered what she could have wanted from him. All of these thought that Lagi was processing in his head made it look like time stood still, but he decided to not let end result of this interaction bother him before hearing what she had to say. It was mostly an assumption that anything that a person had to say Lagi was in a demeaning tone or something bad, it made him miss Sara a bit. It’s been a while since he spoke to someone freely in a friendly and a casual sense, it’s been a while when Lagi actually had the chance to be himself. She wasn’t here, and Lagi didn’t know why, but he had to focus on keeping up appearances. He couldn’t relax his guard even for a second.” Lady Soushui, I thank you for the compliments that you bestow upon me. I really do appreciate the fact that you arrived, and I wouldn’t mind at all of giving a moment of my time. “ Lagi would say simply as his blue eyes twinkled. But before he could continue the conversation with Lady Soushi, he was approached by Azix with compliments of the speech. “Thank you, it was nothing but the truth. “ When Azix gave mention to Lagi about the three beasts that he captured, Lagi actually gave him a genuine smile and whisper back. “ Yes, you did quite well. My father sends his best regards, this could change everything for the better. We can talk later, go enjoy yourself and have a good time. “ After that, Lagi will turn his attention back to Lady Soushui. “I apologize for the interruption, what is it that you wanted to discuss?

Nodding in acceptance to Ari’s response, a brief sigh escapes her lips. She want to believe that the new King would keep his promises, but she was aware enough to know that it was not all his decision in the end. She’s caught off guard by the sudden praise to the King, the moment passing by too quickly before she could join in if she felt the need to. Thanking Ari for the drink, she sips the wine delicately and marvels at how smooth and flavorful it was compared to what she was used to.

”Pace yourself.” She mutters as she witnesses the young woman put away alcohol at an alarming speed, her tone somewhere halfway between scolding and amused. ”Let’s enjoy ourselves for a little bit before I have to carry you out of here.” There’s a light chuckle in her voice suggesting that this was a jest, if even a thinly veiled warning. She was aware that beyond getting dressed up and sampling good food and drink, Ari wasn’t exactly thrilled about attending the party.

Taking another sip, she nearly snorts into her drink at Ariella’s quip directed towards a starry-eyed diplomat from her home country.

”There’s been enough of that for one day, thank you!” She shakes her head lightly with a small grin, grateful for Ari’s sense of humor in what was such an unusual environment for her. The sudden appearance of Ari’s mother startles her, looking up from her glass with a deer in the headlights expression. It took a few moments for the other woman’s words to sink in as she greeted her daughter, and when they did Ayero let a brief scowl onto her face before correcting her expression to a more neutral one. ”Ah, the wine is a bit too bitter for my tastes…” She mutters softly in case the older woman had not missed her momentary slip-up.

She rubs the back of Ari’s hand with her thumb reassuringly, a bit concerned over her signs of distress. But to her surprise, the other woman handled her mother’s words with what she assumed to be a practiced grace.

”It’s a pleasure to meet you.” Her simple words were accompanied by a shallow curtsey, a polite smile on her face as she did so. She thought it was strange that her mother had the audacity to say such a thing to her daughter while she was holding hands and drinking wine with another woman who happened to be wearing one of her dresses. Perhaps she was delusional, perhaps she didn’t care. Flickering her gaze across Evelyn’s face, the look of disgust in the woman’s eye wasn’t all that unexpected and yet still surprising. She’d been warned however, so the Fanalis woman doesn’t take it too personally.

A bit of relief reflects in her eyes as Azix approaches them, feeling a bit better at seeing someone even vaguely familiar. Had this been another day on the streets with her sword at her side, Ayero would probably only have given the man a nod or grunt of acknowledgement as they passed by. However, this situation was a bit more stressful leading her to appreciate the light magician’s existence a little more. Smiling more genuinely, she nods her head in a mock bow of a greeting to Azix. She wasn’t sure if she should say something, a bit intimidated by the life magician currently engaging them…well, engaging Ari. Perhaps she was more of a prop in this woman’s eyes. Amused at the thought, she drains the remainder of her own glass of wine before setting it onto a server’s tray with other empty glasses has he passed.

At the appearance of another man, Ayero feels as if she’s even less likely to speak. She didn’t know if she even wanted to, noting the man’s Kou attire. As he addresses Ariella, she almost doesn’t notice Altair approaching her from the side. Catching him out of the corner of her eye, she turns her body slightly to face him better as he speaks. A light flush dusts her cheeks as he comments not only on her looks, but on her apparent nerves. She didn’t know that she appeared so unsettled, but perhaps this man was just very perceptive. ”Dance?” The sounds a bit surprised, not having expected anyone to approach her for a dance, especially so soon. She tilts her head back to see Ari with her mother and the two men who apparently knew her, unsure of what to do. She was hesitant to leave the other woman’s side, nervous of what might happen if she were on her own but also to offer her own support while dealing with her beloved family. But she thought it would be clingy of her to expect the other woman to protect her for the entire night.

”I…suppose one dance could not hurt. I’m afraid I’m not very good, though.” She offers a sheepish smile before leaning over and whispering in Ari’s ear. ”I’ll be back soon. Please try not to kill your mother while I’m gone. There’s too many witnesses and it’ll be hard to hide a body in a place like this.” Turning back to Altair, she takes his hand. ”My name is Ayero Shiiba. And you are?”

Ariella’s head was slightly whirling between the speed of her drinking and the cluster of people. It had been months since her last large social event and she found herself a bit out of practice. When Azix approached, she gave a grateful sigh and then Garret came over as well, using a name she was not familiar with, but accepting it, nonetheless. She had spent far too much time with Azix to question false names at this point. When her father approached as well, she very nearly groaned in frustration. Would she never escape? Being trained extensively in etiquette, she found herself responding without thought to those around her.

She gave Ayero a nod as the woman went off to dance, almost choking on a drink of wine at the comment about not killing her mother and gave a grin and waved her towards the man that approached. Turning back to her parents, Azix and Garret, she fell into proper protocol.

“Mother, Father, I would like you to meet the Marquis Azix Niraj and Takegawa Sato, both magicians from Kou. Azix, Takegawa, I am most pleased to introduce Evelyn Negri, a life magician and Admiral Adamus Negri, a heat magician, both of Magnostadt.”

Ari’s mother would look at the two men, her eyes fairly lighting up at the mention of nobility for Azix before the word ‘Kou’ fell from her daughter’s mouth. Her lips thinned, unsure of how she felt about the development. While she appreciated that her daughter had met powerful magicians, she was unhappy about their country of service. The previous year’s invasion had left a worse taste in her mouth for that wretched country. When her husband approached, she offered a polite grin.

“Yes, Magnostadt is beautiful, if struggling to rebuild the number of professors we have at the Academy.”

As proper as she was, she made no effort to hide the barb in her words. Her husband was much more gruff, almost disinterested.

“Ah, magicians, eh? It is time Ella found proper company to assist her in her dismal studies. Perhaps you two could show her how real magic is done!”

Ari sighed and reached for Azix’s arm, giving it a subtle tug to try and drag him away while her parents focused their attentions on Garret and his questions. It was as good an opportunity as any to try and escape. It seem fate agreed with her as she spotted Liber and Tahl nearby and she called out a greeting to them, starting to head in their direction and hoping Azix would follow, saving him from the ramblings of her father boasting about his experience in battle.

The butterfly patterns on Lady Soushui's dress and adornments would shimmer gently in the lighting of the ball room as she waited for the King's business to finish before being addressed again. She knew the value of patience as a virtue, especially in the presence of people with political power. Her experience as both a honey pot assassin and as an official ambassador was serving her well. When Lagi was ready to spare a moment for her, Lady Soushui let an enticing smile dance across her lips as her eyes narrowed in satisfaction. "It is less of a what I'd like to discuss, and more of a who and why." The butterfly lady said as she rose her chin ever so slightly and cocked her head to the side as her deep jewel-like eyes looked into King Lagi for signs of truth and lies. "I've come to you today bearing two questions in the interest of the 'True' Emperor"

Lady Soushui's words hinted that she was sent by the emperor pf Kou himself to ask these very questions. While this wasn't quite true, it wasn't quite a lie either as one could argue her very presence here as an ambassador was be the emperor's eyes and ears. "You seem to want to cut right to the chase. I appreciate your brevity, King Lagi." She began speaking in a hushed tone so other party goers could not overhear her words. "First, who was the one who truly conquered Reim? According to rumors you witnessed the usurpation yourself. The Emperor would like to know who made all of this possible. There is no one who could be trusted to answer this question better than yourself."

Lady Soushui would then pause briefly before fluttering her eyelids once more and asking her second question. "There is also a question many would like to know, but it's been on my mind in particular and is part of what I've been tasked with finding out this evening. Why exactly did you become King?" It would almost seem like she was done talking, but a glimmer in her eyes showed a spark of quick thinking as she swiftly added, "I beg pardon, your grace. To be more specific, why did you choose to become King?" She was less asking why he became a ruler and more asking what it was that motivated him to ever strive for such a position in the first place.

For the first time ever, Yakuroro the Imuchakk showed a shocked face that couldn't be rivaled by anoy of Yaku's other facial expressions. His gaze upon Zadi seemed as though he truly worried about Zadi in some way, maybe. Might also be something else that Zadi said.

Thinking to himself, "I knew it! There is something different about Lagi since last we met! But what does he mean by 'not what he appears to be'? Is that actually Lagi? Hmmm, his rukh do seem to be off somehow. I'd need to get some truth from Lagi if I want to see his colors emerge. On another note, it looks like Lagi's face changed a little."

Zadi's inner thoughts then got him thinking more about bringing Yaku in order to introduce the new King and a rather interesting Giant. Not only would introducing the two dungeon partners of Zadi be fun and awesome, but it might also grow some friendships. Either which way, Zadi wanted to introduce his friend to another friend...especially now that one friend had some interesting information!

"Hey! I've got an idea! Come with me and I'll introduce you to Lagi personally! You can tell me AND him about that ancient civilization stuff. So, you in or out?"

Zadi now just waited for the Imuchakk to respond, slowly moving backwards towards Lagi in an attempt to force Yaku to think quickly. However, hopefully Yaku's shocked expression earlier didn't mean he feared Lagi. Zadi rather hoped that it was due to Zadi's grand connection in the world. Though it could also be that Yaku felt hurt that he wasn't the one that Zadi greeted earlier. No matter what, Zadi would just have to see and hope for the best!

Altair took Ayero's hand and led her to the dance floor. He talked as they walked saying, "I am Altair. I'm a shepherd from the region north of Balbadd. I'm doing a bit of traveling around the world, and i couldn't pass up on the opportunity to witness the coronation of the new king. Or, pass up dancing with such a hidden gem such as yourself." Altair gave her a playful wink as the music started.

It was a beautiful number, perfect for ballroom dancing. Altair led Ayero through the motions until she was comfortable, and then began to relax and really enjoy his time with her. Altair smiled as he twirled her, and said, "You are a mystery to me. I know only your name, and yet i find myself having more fun with you than i've had in a long time. Please, you must tell me about yourself. I have to know more than just what a dream might say." Altair continued to dance with her as he listened. But soon, their song was over. Altair smiled again and bowed. "Perhaps another dance? I'd hate to lose such a pleasant partner so soon."

Garret nodded briefly towards Azix when Ari had introduced the two of them to her family. When Ariella had explained that her father Admiral Adamus Negri was a heat magician, Garret's blood chilled and nearly set a shiver down his spine. In and of itself, a heat magician did not signify much. Garret did not believe, however, that the man had gained the title 'Admiral' simply because he had been with Magnostadt for some time. His technique and power likely reflected that title.

Shortly after the introduction, the mother took no true effort to hide her distaste for the whole incident. While that definitely confirmed a motivation, it simultaneously took a portion of the edge off of the threat that Magnostadt was behind the attack. Garret almost allowed himself to relax, if just ever so slightly, before realizing that the whole thing could simply be a ruse. If I were them... I wouldn't dare show any ill intent before striking an opponent... However, what if she KNEW that? She knew, and intentionally showed that in order to throw me off of their trail? Clever. Garret handed it to her, she knew a trick or two about obfuscation. She could be simply distraught over the whole invasion that had occurred a while back, or she could be hiding her cleverness behind a false sense of openness that somebody on a mission would never normally show. Unless to trick him.

Garret wanted to narrow his eyes, but fought back on that reflex. Garret had need to speak of something, and quick. Some sort of response. He opened his mouth, intending to simply let the first thing he thought of come out, but was saved that embarrassment with the Admiral speaking up first. His words were much easier to respond to. Garret had yet to take to the climate of politics, and his current baptism had him in over his head. Only luck and fate had saved him from potential embarrassment. Using the Admiral's comments as an excuse to not respond to what was likely a bait from Ariella's mother, Garret spoke. He needed to move onto the next phase of information gathering, and this man seemed to fit the bill of what he would be looking for in a perpetrator. "Sir, I'm honored by your praise. I have very little formal education, though. Perhaps the two of you would not mind discussing with me some of the finer points of a Magician?"

Garret would, from that point, speak to them about some of the spells he knew how to do; Ice Phase, Water Gill, Controlling the Currents and Jagged Flying Ice. Some of the spells required finesse, and others were more along the lines of large-scale. However, throughout his discussion, he would discuss some of the finer uses of Controlling the Currents such as creating a bridge of water, among other things.

The entire conversation was to allow him to throw in innocuous questions. "Which do you prefer? Spells that handle things with finesse, or large scale castings?" Garret wanted a measure on whether or not this man was a power player who preferred to do things big.

Amongst their conversation, Garret would bring up another question. "I've never had the opportunity to work in concert with other magicians on a single spell, though I have seen an up close example of such a working. How does it feel? What kind of results do you normally see from it?" Here, Garret was curious to see whether or not the man would admit to working in a team of multiple Magicians, and whether or not he would therefore be able to cause the level of destruction that was made evident from whatever attack that had occurred several days back.

Garret couldn't help but think of what Azix would do in such a situation. The man was born and raised in political waters, whereas Garret was trained strictly for spy work outside of the courts.

This was a rather strange question for Lagi, it concerned who really conquered Reim. What did that even mean anyway? Did it talk about the people involved who remained alive after everything was done? “Well, that’s a hard question to answer to be honest. I wouldn’t really narrow it down just one person, but a series of people and situations that so happened to play out in Kou’s favor. “Lagi would continue speaking in the same hushed tone. He didn’t want to give too much information; he didn’t know the risk of talking about such a delicate subject. Was this one of Kou’s ways to get him to say something that could be used against him? “I fought with Azix in the throne room after a man named “The Contractor” separated everyone else in a strange bubble. After a bit, we both came to an agreement that I could receive the throne and kill Zhi, if Azix would kill the emperor. We stood out of each other’s way, but I was somewhat outnumbered in a sense, as well as fatigued. If didn’t make the commercial choice, the ultimate result would have been Zhi on the throne, due to the assistance of that mysterious man, Azix Niraj, and a man named Garret. Like I said, a series of choices and a bit of involvement from each individual, but it was Kou’s win. I would have only prolonged it, or even manage to gravely injure a few, but it was their win. “

The next question was why Lagi became king. It was a pretty simple thing to ask, so the response wasn’t too difficult to muster. “I became king because I felt as if I could make a difference and change Reim for the better. Reim was strong, but it was lacking. There was a latent potential in front of us that was underutilized, in people, in the ideas of others, even in creatures. I had an ambition I was confident that I could do a better job. I became king so that the people of Reim would have a better chance, having a chance instead of accepting the natural fate of any losing country in a war. Such a fate should not so easily be accepted or deserved for the people who remain in the shadows of loss; the sins of the country should lie with the king, as the new head begins anew.” Lagi would then give a causal smile after saying all of that. He left it out about being a king candidate and the metal vessel itself fueled his desires and made him act on it towards impulse. Every action was a rebellion against fate itself. “Do these answers suffice, my lady?”

Lady Soushui's smile was upheld throughout Lagi's response, however internally she felt varying degrees of confusion and suspicion. It didn't seem like Lagi was lying, but some of the people he spoke of were unknown to the female magician. Zhi? The Contractor? These were not well known names even among Kou's higher nobility. Regardless, she would do her duty and report this information back to Kou's emperor when she was able. In the meantime, she would continue to listen intently.

~Meanwhile~

When Zadi suggested that he introduce Yakuroro to King Lagi, the Imuchakk looked back to see that he was still being spoken to by Lady Soushui and was initially hesitant to interrupt. He didn't know what her endgame for the ball was, but he knew what her plans for Reim's future were and because of this he did not want to get in her way. As Zadi moved for them to get going, Yakuroro cautiously relented. Perhaps he could help Lady Soushui rather than get in her way by contacting the King through someone he already knew. Yakuroro quickly thought up a cover story that would not conflict with information Zadi knew and smiled, "If you insist..." and together with the Black Magician, Yakuroro turned to approach Lagi.

As the two dungeon conqueror's made their way the the Black Metal Vessel holder, Lady Soushui was taking in Lagi's words about why he'd become king. As the man spoke out against fate and verbally expressed his rebellion against the will of the world, his depravity would be laid out bare for all to see. Black rukh would flutter from the King accenting his words with the malice of those who have fallen from grace. Lady Soushui's eyes widened as she saw the black birds and she took a step back. Yakuroro who was walking towards Lagi stopped dead in his tracks and pointed at the King with his own eyes shot wide with fear. "D...DEMON!" The Imuchakk shouted as he pointed straight at Lagi. "You bear the black birds of evil!" Yaku exclaimed as he stumbled backwards.

Yakuroro looked to Zadi, the fear reflected in his eyes would be the first sign of weakness Yakuroro had ever shown to the magician. Yakuroro would then look around seeing that he'd brought attention to himself before glancing back in Lagi's direction. His eyes would meet Lady Soushui's and her gaze told him that he was causing trouble. Looking back to Lagi, Yakuroro would glare at him intensely with hands balling into fists. It would do Yakuroro no good to start a fight here and now. He resisted the urge to call upon the power of his Djinn and grit his teeth before an idea came to mind. Those who were magician's present would be able to see the black rukh, but everyone else would not. To most in the room, he probably looked like a mad man. Yakuroro needed to recover somehow and pointed his finger to Lagi once again, this time making a declaration of challenge, "King Lagi El Nagi! I challenge you to open combat in the coliseum!"

With that, the Imuchakk turned and began making for the exit hoping none would stop him. Lady Soushui would turn back to King Lagi following Yakuroro's outburst, "Y-Yes, that is all I needed to ask. Thank you for your time. Forgive me for that man's behavior, I brought him as a guest hoping he'd make for a good date. I did not expect him to be a lunatic." She then pouted and crossed her arms looking rather upset. "I suppose that leaves me single for the evening." Sighing deeply, the woman bit her lower lip and cast a gaze down to the side as she fell into silence looking distraught as to what to do with herself next.

Azix let Ariella lead him away from her parents, understanding why she wasn't a fan of them with their comments. "They seem like...pleasant people." Azix gave her a teasing grin, before guiding her to the dance floor. "Would you like to dance?" Wrapping an arm around her waist, he would sway with her to the tune of a beautiful song while others danced around them.

Once the song was over, Azix caught a glimpse of his uncle, Illidan, standing nearby some Kou dignitaries while glaring at him. Flashing a smile, Azix excused himself, "I'll be right back, wait for me?"

As he slipped through the crowd of people towards Illidan, his uncle motioned for them to meet in a hallway away from people. Azix met him, out of earshot from others, and tipped his upper-body in a bow. "Uncle, it is good to see you. How was your journey?"

Illidan scoffed, "Enough with the pleasantries, boy. Do you know how upset the Emperor will be when he hears about what you've done? I had a talk with Chuge Don before the ceremony, it sounds like you've been acting on behalf of the Emperor. I thought you would have learned from your father's mistakes. The Council has been informed that you are no longer to act as a representative from Kou and to ignore any more proposals you have."

Illidan shook his head in disgust, "If you step out of line again, I will disown you. Your actions don't only affect you, they affect the Niraj name. Now, go. Go enjoy playing with your peasants while you still can."

Azix tried to speak up, but his uncle gave him a dismissive look that brokered no argument. Sighing, Azix shook his head and went back into the ballroom. He tried to smile as he walked back towards Ariella, but the irritation at his uncle's words was plain to see.

Shouts rang out in the ballroom and Azix turned his head to see what was going on. He saw a giant Imuchakk before King Lagi who was shouting about 'birds of evil'. To Azix's surprise, Lagi was then challenged to a duel in the Coliseum. The Imuchakk's shouts rang through the ballroom for all to hear, certainly leaving others stunned like Azix was.
