Weapons

Weapons are tools used for basic combat in the Strength, Dexterity and Stealth Specializations. Strength users make use of melee weapons with close range attacks. Dexterity users make use of long range weapons for long range attacks. Stealth users make use of mid range weapons and unorthodox/exotic weapons. A character starts out with one free D-Tier weapon. Strength and Stealth users may choose to dual wield the same weapon, or start with a sensible pairing of weapons (Sword & Shield, Katana & Wakizashi etc.), and thus obtain a second free D-Tier weapon.

Melee Weapons

Melee weapons are used by the strength specialization. Some examples of melee weapons are swords, shields, spears, clubs, daggers, and brass knuckles. Those specializing in Strength as a primary obtain a single free D-Tier weapon. In the case that a primary Strength specialization character chooses a dual-wielding fighting style, or sword-and-shield fighting style, they begin with 2 of their 3 weapons, which are both D-Tier. Weapons can be upgraded through Hakim's Smithy to become stronger. A weapon's tier may not be higher than the Strength Specialization tier of the character. Ex.: Your Strength Specialization is B-Tier. The highest level of weapon you could get would be B-Tier.

Melee Weapons can be embedded with special gems at a cost of Huang. These gems make the weapons magical, providing the use of a single element with one ability at B-Tier Specialization Rank and 2 abilities at A-Tier Specialization Rank. Only a single weapon from a Strength User’s specialization can be created by the member as a Magic Weapon.

The costs for purchasing and upgrading Melee Weapons are as follows:

D-Tier: 10,000 Huang
C-Tier: 20,000 Huang
B-Tier: 60,000 Huang
A-Tier: 120,000 Huang

These numbers can be subject to change.

The costs for purchasing and upgrading Magic Melee Weapons are as follows:

B-Tier: 80,000 Huang
A-Tier: 140,000 Huang

These numbers can be subject to change.

There is a discount when upgrading from a lower rank to a higher one. Ex. D-Tier to C-Tier upgrade will only cost 10,000 Huang. C-Tier to B-Tier would only cost 40,000 Huang. B-Tier to A-Tier would only cost 60,000. For magical weapons, Non Magical to Magical would be 20,000 and B-Tier to A-Tier Magical weapon would be 60,000. This discount only applies on purchased weapons, as you do not pay for starter weapons.

Ranged Weapons

Ranged Weapons are those that are used by people specializing in Dexterity. Examples of ranged weapons are bows, crossbows, slingshots and ballista. Ranged Weapons are classified as Ancient Weapons. Dexterity users are also able to create and register Magic Tools. Those specializing in Dexterity as their primary get a free Ancient Weapon of D-Tier to start out.

Magic Tools cannot be purchased until higher tiers, and until Dungeons have been conquered. Once a Dungeon pertaining to a specific theme has been conquered, a Dexterity User may create their own Tool based off of that theme in the Weapon Smithing portion of Hakim's Smithy. Ancient Weapons don't deal damage with the weapons themselves, but instead with *Ammunition (learn more in the Dexterity Specialization Guidelines). A weapon's tier may not be higher than the Dexterity Specialization tier of the character. Ex.: Your Dexterity Specialization is B-Tier. The highest level of weapon you could get would be B-Tier.

A single Magic Tool may pertain to a single conquered dungeon theme. You cannot fire off Ammunition with Magic Tools, but you can register abilities pertaining to the theme selected.

The costs for purchasing and upgrading Ancient Weapons are as follows:

D-Tier: 10,000 Huang
C-Tier: 20,000 Huang
B-Tier: 60,000 Huang
A-Tier: 120,000 Huang

These numbers can be subject to change.

The costs for purchasing and upgrading Ranged Magic Tools are as follows:

D-Tier: 20,000 Huang
C-Tier: 40,000 Huang
B-Tier: 80,000 Huang
A-Tier: 140,000 Huang

These numbers can be subject to change.

There is a discount when upgrading from a lower rank to a higher one. Ex. D-Tier to C-Tier upgrade will only cost 10,000 Huang. C-Tier to B-Tier would only cost 40,000 Huang. B-Tier to A-Tier would only cost 60,000. This discount only applies on purchased weapons, as you do not pay for starter weapons.

Mid-Range Weapons

Mid Range weapons are used by the stealth specialization. These weapons are mainly unorthodox items, with examples of such being the Shaolin meteor hammer, 3-section staff, garrote wires, kunai/throwing stars and whips. Those specializing in Stealth as a primary specialization obtain a single free D-Tier weapon. In the case that a primary Stealth specialization character chooses a dual-wielding fighting style, they begin with 2 of their 3 weapons, which are both D-Tier. Weapons can be upgraded through Hakim's Smithy to become stronger. A weapon's tier may not be higher than the Stealth Specialization tier of the character. Ex.: Your Stealth Specialization is B-Tier. The highest level of weapon you could get would be B-Tier.

The costs for purchasing and upgrading Mid Range Weapons are as follows:

D-Tier: 10,000 Huang
C-Tier: 20,000 Huang
B-Tier: 60,000 Huang
A-Tier: 120,000 Huang

These numbers can be subject to change.

Magic Items

Staffs, Staves, and Wands

These objects are used by those specializing in Intelligence. Staffs/staves and wands are all rankless and don't deal any damage. They are used as mediums for magicians to channel their magoi in order to cast spells through. A person's staff must be created in the Staff-Creation sub-forum of The Old Wizard's Arcane Shop. Without a staff/stave/wand, an Intelligence user cannot cast any spells. They can use their staff to strike opponents, but only D-tier damage will be dealt.

At A-Tier, Magicians can obtain an Advanced Staff. These cannot be created by a player and are only released during special times of the year or during events. Advanced Staffs give special perks, and can only be obtained if the person has Intelligence as their PRIMARY Specialization.

The cost for purchasing a new basic staff is always 75,000 Huang You can only have one at any given moment.

Unique Magic Items

These items are special magical items or general items which are released in Old Wizard's Arcane Shop or in Mysteria's Magic Concoctions, from time to time. Unique magical items are in short supply, and can run out. There are also general items, which have an unlimited store stock supply. Some examples include Flying Carpets(Limited), Crystal Balls for communication(Limited), Health potions(No store stock limit) and Stamina/Magoi potions(No store stock limit).

Living Items

Beasts

These "items" are used by those specializing in Dominance. Beasts are living creatures which have their own movement and are able to make their own attacks without the use of an ability. A primary Dominance character receives a single D-Tiered Beast for free when they start. The perk to having a beast as opposed to a weapon is that you can train your beast to a higher tier with word counts instead of upgrading it at the cost of Huang. Details on how you can upgrade your beast through training may be found in the Training Beasts section of the Dominance Specialization rules. You can register a beast in Ivan's Animal Emporium.

The costs for purchasing new beasts are as follows:

D-Tier: 10,000 Huang
C-Tier: 20,000 Huang
B-Tier: 60,000 Huang
A-Tier: 120,000 Huang

These numbers can be subject to change depending on the size and ability of the beast. Ex.: Features not normally on a similar beast that provide it an advantage would cause a price increase.

Pets

Only Beast Tamers may have actual combative beasts. Anyone may purchase and register a pet. Pets cannot deal damage, nor can they shield anyone from damage. They are simply for show and for communication.  All pets can be created and/or purchased in Ivan's Animal Emporium.

All custom pets cost 30,000 Huang.

Destruction and Repairing

All basic items (Weapons, Beasts, Staffs) created by a player can be destroyed. Different weapon types have different durability. When targeted by abilities, Shields will break after being hit by 3 abilities of equal tier. Melee and Mid Ranged weapons will break after being hit by 2 abilities of the same tier. Finally, Long Ranged weapons will break after being hit by 1 ability of the same tier. Ex.: A D tiered shield is hit by 2 D tier abilities. It may still be used, but if it is hit by another D tier ability, it will be destroyed. *Exception: if a defensive or offensive technique is used to ‘clash’ with the ability and negates the damage, the shield would still be usable. At the end of a thread if a weapon did not break, all damage done to it is repaired through assumed basic maintenance on your weapon between threads.

When it comes to items clashing with each other without the use of abilities, they will follow the chart below. Each item will have a set amount of defensive points and offensive power.

Melee and Range Weapon’s Offensive Power || Defensive Power
D-Tier:
10 || 50
C-Tier: 20 || 100
B-Tier: 40 || 200
A-Tier: 80 || 400
Omega-Tier: 100 || 800

Shield’s Offensive Power || Defensive Power
D-Tier:
0 || 75
C-Tier: 0 || 150
B-Tier: 0 || 300
A-Tier: 0 || 600
Omega-Tier: 0 || 1000

There will be occasions in which you have clashed with basic attacks AND abilities against an opponent's weapons. In order to track their weapon hp once abilities have been used, please use the following table:

Tier of ability || Weapon HP Damage
D-Tier || 25
C-Tier || 50
B-Tier || 100
A-Tier || 200
Omega Tier || 400

When a weapon is destroyed it may be repaired by Hakim at his smithy. The Old Man at his shop can fix staffs using his magic, and Beasts can be revived thanks to Ivan at his Animal Emporium.

Repairing items is a lot like training and traveling. You write up a certain amount of words in order to repair a weapon to a certain tier:

D-Tier: 500 Words
C-Tier: 1,000 Words
B-Tier: 1,500 Words
A-Tier: 2,000 Words

The cost for repairing basic staffs is always 2,000 Words.

The costs for repairing Magic Weapon are as follows:

D-Tier: 1,000 Words
C-Tier: 1,500 Words
B-Tier: 2,000 Words
A-Tier: 2,500 Words

Instead of repairing an item to the tier it was at when it broke, you may choose to repair it up to a lower tier and then pay for it to be upgraded later. Ex.: If your C-Tier sword broke, but you choose to repair it to D-Tier, you may at a later point in time pay the Huang to upgrade it back to C tier.

Buying Dungeon Items

There are only a limited number of items that are released from the dungeon. With fairness in mind, each member of the forum is only able to purchase 1 of these items from each dungeon. This includes the mount.

Selling Items

All items, with the exception of Metal Vessels and Household Vessels, can be sold off to other players if you no longer want them. Items can be sold at any price, however while the item is being sold in the marketplace it cannot be used.

All you have to do is make a topic in The Marketplace, putting up your item for sale.

Of course if someone wishes to buy an item, they first have to meet all of the prerequisites if there are any. Ex.: A character without the Strength Specialization can not purchase a sword, a character without the Intelligence Specialization can not purchase a Staff/Stave/Wand etc. etc.
