Spoiler:

There were always a ton of people looking for extra work on the docks of Balbadd. Children, washed up drunks, and folk who are just trying to make some extra money all gather in early morning hours in hopes that the Dock Master or a merchant might require some hired muscle to load and unload cargo. Today there was a giant of a man in the mix of hopeful coolies. Yakuroro, an Imuchakk, had traveled from Reim to Zou and was now in Balbadd on his way to Magnostadt. A series of unfortunate events had left Yakuroro with barely enough funds for meals and a place to sleep, but he no longer had the money needed to hire a ship. With no boat to sail him to Madnostadt the wandering northman was left with one of two choices. Risk the journey on foot, or make some extra cash and save up for his trip.

Settling on the latter, Yakuroro now found himself standing among a group of humans who were all reaching out towards men who could hire them. While the poorest of them pleaded desperately for a chance to make some money, Yakuroro carried a distinct frown on his face. He wasn't looking forward to this at all and was trying to appear unmotivated to delay being chosen. But when a dock master loses 3 men to sickness and then sees a man who looks strong enough to do the work of 10 men, it doesn't take long for him to make his choice.

A dejected sigh escaped the muscular Imuchakk's lips as the dock master chose him first among all the others present. The man felt bad for taking the work as some of the children there looked to be from impoverished families. When the head of the docks beckoned for Yakuroro to step forward he picked up two of the youngest children whom were wearing the dirtiest clothing. Incidentally, they were also the skinniest and most poor of all the people there begging for work that day. Yakuroro would life both children up onto either shoulder and let out a hearty chuckle before declaring that he would only work if his "Sons" got paid too.

Anyone could tell at a glance that this monstrously large foreigner was NOT the father of the two dark haired, normal sized, humans. However few were willing to question the man's actions as he'd left his robes at the in as well leaving him in nothing but pants for clothing. The rippling frame of supple muscles ensured that no one complained about the sketchy lineage of "his" boys. Not wanting to make a scene, the dock master accepted on the condition that they manage to get the work done on time.

The rest of the morning was spent carrying several tons worth of silks and other goods from a large merchant ship to the docks. The Imuchakk was the muscle of course, carrying large crates that would normally take two men each on either shoulder, he was able to move many more wares at once than the average worker. His two "sons" did their part by ensuring people got out of their "father's" way and helping him figure out the most efficient way to stack and stow the crates. Honeslty Yakuroro didn't need their help in these things as he was doing still doing all the real work himself. However he made each task for the youths seem like they were important to him. This encouraged them to work hard even if they were given simple tasks.

After a break for lunch, he trio then started loading spices and other commodities back onto the ship they'd just unloaded. It was a bit tedious and frustrating for the children to do the opposite of what they'd just accomplished as it almost felt like undoing your own work. But for as pointless as it all felt, Yakuroro still encouraged them to take their role seriously as it was not likely they would be chosen for work again if they held a poor work ethic. With the help of the kids and Yakuroro's strength, they finished the work early and were let off a few hours past noon. With their pay in hand, the two street rats ran off into the alleyways before disappearing into the slums of the city. With his own payment in check, Yakuroro returned to his in to add the funds to his travel savings.
