What I'm bringing Along:

"Here, for the horse." Garret said, paying the stablemaster a sum of Huang. He wore upon himself a set of clothes that put his looks to be a middle class citizen. With him he carried, as was quite often the case, his wand as well as several water skins underneath his clothing. His mission this time was to approach a courier on the road in some manner and switch out the report that the courier was carrying with the forged document report that requested reinforcements.
The reinforcements needed were quite the group, too; it was calling for the Fanalis Corps. A large group of soldiers in the Western Front had appeared, seemingly from nowhere, and were marching to take the land back. It was a decently scaled attack, and assistance was requested immediately.
Garret wasn't the only one switching orders and reports out, either. Along another road, there should have been an operation going on that was similar to his own. This was in order to verify the report with second hand reports from a close, yet unaffected city within Reim. With their collaborated efforts, it would seem all the more realistic. Garret increased the pace his horse was moving. He wanted to make better time.
The horse was getting tired, and it was time for a rest. He made sure to care for the horse so that he would be able to continue to ride it later, walking alongside it for the time being. His goal was a small wayside inn not too far down the road. It was a place for travellers to rest between the cities, and was approximately a day and a half's ride to the Reim Capitol from there. As the time passed, Garret climbed back onto the horses' back and continued their trek.
More time passed, and night fall was coming. Garret found a small stream just off the side of the road, an excellent place for the horse to get something to drink, and for him to set up camp. Garret lay back, relaxing as he watched the night sky. His mind rarely wandered, as he preferred to focus on a task and move straight towards it, however his life had changed drastically since coming to Reim. He met many new people, many of which extended a supporting hand to him. He expected wretchedness, much like that of the market merchants and the ship captain from Balbadd. However, everyone he met that had issues with their pasts were living without hatred for their place in life. They worked hard; Seviticus, the miners, Lieutenant Acius. Garret snorted, even Serene the slaver had some sense of kindness. Li Cao coming to Reim... Garret had to be ready. He would have to keep Azix in the dark. The man had potential, Garret knew, and wanted to make sure he could live up to that potential.
Sighing, Garret shook off the feeling of solitude that crept on him. He had always preferred lone missions, there was no reason that shouldn't change now. Setting up the camp, Garret slept for the night in order to get up early the next morning.

He set off, quelling the fire with the river water. He had made some good time the previous day and would be able to finish his trek to the wayside tavern fairly soon now; he could see it just over the horizon. "Heeya!" Garret urged the horse forward, approaching his destination at an even faster pace.
When he did arrive he approached the stable section of the place. There was a stablehand working there. As Garret dismounted, the boy offered to care for the horse. "Thanks." Garret handed the kid some Huang. "Can I take a look at the stalls he's going to be in? He's picky."
Garret didn't really know that much about the horse, and was lying to the kid so he would be able to check the stalls for other horses without causing too much suspicion. The boy, gullible and young as he was, led Garret to the stalls and beamed proudly at how well kept they were. Garret smiled; he had gotten there first. While newcomers were treated with wariness, those who had been there beforehand were considered part of the scenery. Well, not that Garret thought the courier would truly be on his guard.
Garret entered the tavern and approached the bar. "Milk." He said, his tone dead serious. The man laughed, even as he was paid. Garret looked about the establishment and took note of the exit, the stairs to the left, and the fireplace to the right. "So, any interesting news come through recently?" Garret began idle chatter with the man, who revealed himself to be the tavern keeper. Nothing really interesting has been happening lately; the western front was said to be pushing back against the Reim expansion, but it was currently a battle that Reim was winning. Ever since the peace between Reim and Heliohapt, Reim was able to focus better on the Western Front.
The talk changed from the expansion to the west to a more local line of questioning. The kid outside working the stable was the tavern owner's son, and the man's wife was the cook. It was a standard story for a lot of taverns on the roadside. It was difficult getting people to stick around to work if it wasn't family.
It was at this point that the courier arrived. Garret looked up and saw that it was a man dressed for his station. He looked used to the road. Sitting down next to Garret, the man had ordered an Ale. He, too, began talking, throwing his words into the conversation about traveling and meeting people, both good and bad. Garret offered to buy the man some more drinks, if he was going to stay for the night.
The courier had traveled quite a bit already, and it was getting close to evening. As such, the courier agreed to accept Garret's generosity. Garret, remembering the songs he had to learn in a mission earlier, began singing some bar songs. There weren't truly many spectators here. Just himself, the tavern keeper's family and the courier. They livened up however, and the ale continued to flow between everyone. Garret declined the drink, and the tavern owner laughed at him for insisting on drinking only milk. It became night, and the courier was having trouble walking straight. Garret offered to help him to a room, and made sure to pay for his night's stay as well. Once the courier was out cold, Garret made the switch.
Next morning, the courier and Garret bid their farewells. The courier moved towards the Reim empire's capitol, and Garret moved further west. When he was out of sight of the tavern, Garret hugged the treeline to the North and disappeared into the forest, doubling back towards Reim's Capitol to report his mission's success.
