Mori [Done!] I6PCJ9v

Name:
Gehrman Mori

Country Affiliation:
Wanderer

Race:
Magician

Tier:
D

Class:
Magician

Age + Birthdate:
19, October 5

Gender:
Male

Sexuality:
Straight

Personality:
If you were to look within a dictionary for the definition of happy-go-lucky, despite its nature of being 3 words jumbled into one, you’d probably find a picture of Mori right next to its definition. He’s a naturally charismatic young gentleman whose presence always seems to bring an unnatural vigor to any environment he’s in, a rare trait to find in most, but seemingly an almost worn out trope within Mori. It seems as if it’d actually take the worst of it to cut him down as he maintains this lingo even in situations most dire, even if within his mind he’s panicking about his circumstance.

With this natural ease comes it’s pitfall, blissful ignorance. Mori is certainly one-hundred percent, not a critical thinker. Every single plan that has been laid out for him, or he’s laid out for himself has become complete and utter shambles due to his own insolence and natural aptitude towards procrastinating/thinking on his feet. Although this flaw of his seems miniscule, it often happens to help him find himself within the crummiest of situations. And with these situations comes his solutions of deferment. These facts of his personality tie him in as an overall lazy person.

A prideful being, Mori is not. It seems as if he’d do anything if it were to get him out of a sticky scenario. Do a little jig to please the officer to make an escape after falling on and destroying a cart of cabbages? Sure! Shine the pretty nobles brogues so he’ll toss you a coin for dinner for the night? Why not? Bow and act like a dog to entertain the leader of some bandit gang so he’ll let you off the hook rather than splaying your guts across the pavement? You betcha. It almost seems as if he has no care in the world for his reputation and values self-preservation over all.

A good final point on Mori’s personality is his established self-discipline that he’s picked up from his training as a monk. Despite not-looking at it, and his “just-getting-by” nature, Mori follows a very strict and planar code of self-discipline, and this is defined within the muscles caked upon his body. He doesn’t fall knee-deep into the world’s pleasures as he has trained himself vigorously not to.

Likes:
The Journey - Mori believes firmly that the journey is always more important than the final destination in all cases. What are you gonna remember more on your next round-trip to Reim, the country itself or the 1-2 month boat ride?

Goodwill - Mori tends to try and hang around the people he deems good in heart. He'll always route for those who make morally better choices.

Willpower - Mori has a burning passion when it comes to people who have the will power to stand for themselves rather than let others do it for them. Although this seems against his personality, he feels people achieve strength in overcoming their own perils.

Dislikes:
Pain - Akin to the feeling of pain, Mori is not, and Mori would try his best to not receive the sensation at any cost. Call it a sort of PTSD, but it has made Mori prefer to solve scenarios without combat by any means possible, but if it comes down to it, he will always dodge, and never tank a blow.

Workaholics - Mori prefers to do as little as possible to get the best result, and people who overachieve for results that aren’t much better than his solutions just seem to be too much for him.

Aspirations:
Destiny - In Mori’s current state of life, he holds no defined goal in which he wants to accomplish in the long term. His one journey that he treks is the desire to become stronger, both physically and mentally. He does not seem to mind where he ends up in life, but he has deemed that fate is the ultimate decider to that, as long as it doesn’t see him dead. He lives in the now, and will always make the choice that benefits him in the present rather than in the future, regardless of the consequence said choice can hold. Call him foolish youth if you must, it’s the life of being care-free.

Phobias/fears:
Death - Like most people do, Mori has an intense fear of the unknown reality-twister that is the end of life. When he stares at the potential grim reaper with his own two eyes, he’s not just gonna stay put and let him slash his little soul in half with that massive scythe, he’s gonna turn tail and run. Self-preservation is a must, call him selfish, call him a coward, he doesn’t care, it’s not like he has a sense of pride or honor, he just wants to get by. With this comes his desire to be stronger, so he never meets such a fate.

Face-Claim:
Bolin - Legend of Korra

Hair Color:
Black

Eye Color:
Dark Green

Height:
177 cm

Weight:
95 Kg

Appearance:
Mori is a caucasion male with light green eyes and dark brown hair. He stands at average height for someone his age, but his bulky wide figure makes him stand out compared to a common bystander. His face is chiseled but at the jawline but rounded at the cheeks. He has a large philtrum, largely due to his nose being compressed against his head. Adorned upon his forehead are two inch-high eyebrows, thick and bushy. Between them is usually a single small clump of hair that zig-zags down to meet the bridge of his nose. His hair is usually slicked back into points otherwise. Mori can commonly be found wearing a light green carapace with various bandages encasing his body and fists underneath it to strengthen it to any soft blows.

Rukh Alignment:
White

Special Features: N/A.. maybe that he might age faster than other people?

History:
Mori was born to a single mother aboard a ship enroute from Reim to Kou. Almost as soon as he was born into the world to the arms of a loving woman, he was dropped off by her; call it some sort of sick tradition, but he ended up upon the floors of a Shaolin temple. The monks of the monastery wouldn’t relay to him any more information of where he’d stemmed from than that. They, however, would often tease to him that his mother was a total looker. The abbey was secluded far into the mountains of Kou, with no entrance to it other than a 10,000 step set of stone stairs carved from the rock. The only native species to it being the monks themselves.. and a weird glowing white butterfly.

The upbringing of Mori was surprisingly normal compared to what is expected of being raised at a temple as strict as one of the Shaolin. He was brought up as any other child raised within a city would be, bar the fact that there were no other children at the temple. The monastery didn’t seem to take in “any child,” and they had always claimed that Mori was an exception due to being special in some sort of fascinating way. He existed upon a simple diet of bread and water with his only entertainment on the day to day being the ability to observe the range of men who practiced the art of the Shaolin on the daily from afar, which never ceased to amaze him. All of the technique, all of the self-discipline, all of the strength required to perform such practices amazed him, but when he asked his primary care-taker to see if he could practice alongside the monks, he was denied.

Mori wouldn’t ask a reason as to why as he was taught very sternly not to question the wisdom of his elders. He was obviously disappointed although, as Mori had never asked for a lot from his masters, a sad face to the response however was not disallowed, and the expression must have tugged at the heartstrings of the master, as the monk spurted out his reasoning straight after.

“The masters have contemplated training you for a very long time, however we are simply waiting for when the time is right, you are much too young and your body is much too frail. When you grow up, we will start your training.”

This.. this was all Mori had ever wanted to hear, and had brought him a sort of immense happiness. All he had to do is wait till when he was older and naturally stronger, that sounded like a deal to him. Patience was a virtue at the temple, however.. he simply could not wait to grow up. There was a problem although, as he got older, he did not get naturally stronger as a normal person would, he was still frail and weak, almost sickly so. At the age of fifteen or so, being as strong as he was when he was twelve was worrying to his care-takers. Mori saw this within their eyes, saw their reluctance to train him due to his constitution and vowed that he’d better himself physically.

Taking on more strength-based tasks within the temple was Mori’s challenge to this: paling buckets of water from the fountain upon his shoulders to bring to the monks, carrying the sacks of food from the traders who walked the 10,000 steps, and even braving the 10,000 steps himself. It all seemed for nothing originally, but as he overcame the initial struggles, there was a significant increase within his vigor and constitution. Noticing this spiritual determination, the Shaolin masters would approve his training and finally, Gehrman Mori’s training as a warrior began.

For 3 years, Mori trained to the art of the Shaolin. He was certainly not naturally talented in the art, and he would have his fair share of falls and injuries, but he would overcome them with natural conviction to become stronger. With no real motive to his life other than to serve those who’d raised him, he would become stronger, and stronger. However, after said 3 years, almost as soon as the monks had accepted him in, they’d garnished his leave. Revealing to Mori a secret they’d kept from him since his youth, he was a Magician, and they had quested him to go to Magnostadt to uncover his great underlying power. And so, did his journey begin. He would be back one day..

Role-Play Sample:
“Aw man, I’m out of bread already? Ugh..” Mori would say to himself, visibly and shamelessly sighing aloud into the nature surrounding him. Trekking upon a simple dirt and gravel path, Mori would follow nothing but signs and directions of his Shaolin masters to get to his destination. He’d never been anywhere outside of the temple beforehand, and wasn’t too keen on the outside world, much less the city he was tasked to reach. Everything seemed so foreign and completely new already. He wasn’t exactly too frightened of the idea of meeting new people, as the traders that had came to the abbey every now and again didn’t seem like the worst of the worst, and with them to go off of, he should be fine.. right?
