Before descending down the mountain, Zion found a cave to leave his large sack of valuables as he simply had too many things with him to be inconspicuous. Once he had hidden the bulk of his items away, buried under stone and dirt, it was time to head into the city. After trekking down the mountainside and through the forest, a plain opened up the view and Zion paused to take in the sights. The was long set, but from the looks of Reim on the horizon the people didn't know it or didn't care as controlled flames kept the city well lit. Torches and braziers weren't as impressive as the magical lighting of the magician's city, but it moved Zion all the same. The foxdoll took a moment to adjust his tails and ears making sure they were hid well enough to fool a passing glance. He then wrapped the sack he'd been storing his items in around himself as a makeshift cloak to better hid his ears and backside.

With his preparations complete, the eager foxdoll suddenly began to fly forward, his feet kicking off the air as if it were solid ground. Each step, casual though they seemed, would cause the storm kistune to accelerate in his flight until reaching a blur like top speed. In the dark of night the white figure traced a shadow across the plain before abruptly stopping just before the wall. A strong gust of wind shortly arrived chasing after him which passed over the wall, but the breeze was all the guard on duty had noticed in the darkness. Truth be told, Zion's heart was beating wildly as he had almost run into the wall at full speed. All that training he'd been doing was at high altitude and Zion wasn't used to reacting to obstacles when flying at top speed yet.

Scolding himself for his foolishness, Zion quietly muttered a spell as he flicked his staff through the air before tapping himself on the head with it. A veil of orange rukh shrouded Zion rendering him unseen and unheard as he stepped off the air once more resulting in a swift clean leap over Reim's walls. The fluttering of his clothes in the night air would be undetectable as another step off the air carried Zion forward towards a darker part of town away from the well lit areas. Landing in a dark alley, Zion sighed in relief as he made sure nobody was around to see the light rukh peel away revealing the young magician's form. He didn't know how difficult it would be to enter Reim "officially" but sneaking in had its own stresses.

Still, the famous Reiman city was at hand and Zion felt excitement as he walked out of the alley looking like a cloaked traveler were it not for the staff in his hand that clearly marked him a magician. His goal was to head towards the festive well lit side of town, but even in magnostadt, Zion had always flown everywhere and he quickly became lost trying to navigate the city streets be foot.

"Hm..." The middle-aged man glanced at his haul. In each hand, he held a different style of dagger. Each one was ornate in a different manner, but both blades were made of obsidian, adorned in some animal leather, but they couldn't be more different. The one in his left was light and decorated with jade, and the other was dark, and embellished with a spark of gold. He kept the rest of his loot at his house. The haul was very intriguing, and perhaps these items were magical in nature. To him, they just seemed to have that aura about them but he had never seen or used a magical tool. He was roaming and doing a trial run for a mugging, a more direct approach of theft to his typical pick-pocketing or scamming. While he was going through the motions, he began talking to himself, explaining his actions in a distorted manner.

"Stage left, Midas, dressed in all black, revealing nothing.
Midas approaches the innocent bystander and brandishes one of his blades, catching the moonli-" In the middle of his sentence, he saw a person show up out of nowhere. Midas was making this trial run, several times and no one had even been around here for the last 15 minutes, how did he show up here...?

Clearing his throat, getting into a more inquisitive mode. He put the blades away, hopefully quick enough to not seem like a threat as he composed a fictional story, just in case he had to explain himself. "Hello there!" Midas was open and unguarded, without questioning. He wanted to leave the floor open to the stranger to get a better reaction out of him.

The wandering magician had a smile on his face despite failing to find his way. Even at night he found the Reiman capitol to have beautiful aesthetics. The simple quiet and the light of the moon made it easy for Zion to stroll about without looking too conspicuous. Or so he thought, ignorant of the likely biases his Kou garb might incite from the locals. The excitement from rushing into the city wore off and the serene stroll placed Zion in a state of calm when he stumbled upon the rehearsing thespian.

Startled by the encounter after several minutes of walking with nary a soul in sight, Zion stopped briefly as the stranger called out. Gulping down the shock, Zion pulled his hood down lower over his face and slowly began walking towards the man. The figure was hard to see at a distance in the dull moonlight, the flashing glimmer of blades being put away was too subtle for the inexperienced foxdoll to notice. By the time Zion had gotten closer he saw only the amiable appearance put forth. However, Zion still made an effort to keep his visage in shadow even as he walked to within 3m of the man. Stopping there with a soft smile as his own front.

"Good evening..."

Zion spoke and then paused, taking a moment to cast a scanning gaze of the area they were in. Mentally the magician felt as though he were about to walk across pins and needles. There were so many potential consequences for his actions now that even the simple crossing of paths with a stranger bore immense weight on Zion. "I'm a traveler from Magnostadt and I don't know this area well. I appear to have gotten lost and I'm not too familiar with the streets. Where are all the open businesses at?" The foxdoll didn't linger in silence for too long and politely asked the stranger for directions.

Aimlessly wandering the streets had been a content experience for Zion, but his goal of reaching the well lit part of the city. If only to experience what sort of lifestyle the Reiman people had after the sun went down. Asking the stranger about why he was out so late or what he had been up to had crossed Zion's mind, but Casvallion's teachings echoed in the youth's ears. Instead of blindly asking questions to satisfy his curiosity, the foxdoll decided to first focus on his objective. A calm and cool attitude laced Zion's voice and expression the entire while, hiding the stuff comfort and anxieties he felt as doubts regarding his ability to act nipped at the heels of his confidence.

"Hello There"

The greeting Zion had though was for him turned out to be a misunderstanding. Like passing ships in the night, the two passed each other and the magician was left in awkward silence to himself. This was not the first time Zion had encountered someone who didn't have the time for him, but somehow this stranger's disinterest left the doll somber. After a moment of quiet in the dark, Zion picked up his spirits and mused to himself curiously, "I wonder if all the people in this city are so busy..." The words were muttered softly as the white haired fox pulled his makeshift hood down further and began making his way towards the inner city.

The number of people on the street gradually began to increase as lighting improved and soon Zion was able to find his way towards a humble inn that would have room for a passing traveler. Opening the door, Zion stepped inside and took a seat at the dining area looking to fill his belly before securing a room. The magician ordered whatever the place was best known for and then patiently kept to himself at a corner table. The magician stood out with his Kou garb and obvious attempts to hide his face. His keen ears picked up on no shortage of whispers from people who mistook him for a citizen of the eastern empire that once occupied the city. Resentment and grudges stewed.

The magician remained careful to keep his tails in check and the makeshift cloak covering his fox ears the entire time. Even as someone came to take his order. Even the server had subtle hostility towards Zion which caused him to take note of the many unwelcoming gazes. Not everyone present was looking his way, but about half the room was and becoming aware of this fact made the doll feel each gaze like kinves on his skin. Realizing that something wasn't right, Zion looked up to the staff member taking his order and reached into his sleeve carefully. The magician slowly placed a gold coin on the table which far exceeded the value of his order and asked in a polite but quiet voice.

"I'm a wandering traveler, did I perhaps do something wrong?"

The woman taking Zion's order hesitated, but she eventually accepted the generous payment and decided to give the magician the benefit of doubt. Her decision mostly swayed as the coin was not minted in Kou, but rather Magnostadt. She did not assume he was lying about being a traveler and explained that his clothing made him look like he was from Kou. The revelation made Zion feel as though he had been a fool. This wasn't the first time he'd been mistaken as being from Kou due to his garb. Considering the history of Reim he should of forseen the predicament.

Realizing his blunder, Zion thanked the woman and abruptly stood up to leave. Before he found another place to eat and rest, the magician needed to do something about his wardrobe.

[Exit]
